Pinky:

Gee, Brain, what do ya wanna do tonight?

Sparkle(me):

I know what we're doing tonight!

The Brain:

That's right sparkle! Same thing we do every night, Pinky, try to take over the world!

They're Pinky and the Brain,

Yes, Pinky and the Brain,

One is a genius, the other's insane.

They met a little girl,

Who changed their whole world,

They're pinky,

Sparkle and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,

Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,

Brain.

Before each night is done,

Their plan will be unfurled,

By the dawning of the sun,

They'll take over the world!

They're Pinky and the Brain,

Yes, Pinky and the Brain,

Their twilight campaign

Is easy to explain:

To prove their mousey worth,

They'll overthrow the earth.

They're pinky,

Sparkle and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain,

Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain...

Pinky: NARF!

Sparkle (me): *giggles*

The past few weeks were... something to say the least. The kids and their relationship with their mother, was pretty much non-existent at this point. Which was why, things have been set and put in place to change. Pinky was the lucky mouse that got to deal with that, so here they were now, sitting at the table with one final conversation to be had.

Maddie was a complete mess, which, Pinky would've empathised with, knowing the recent circumstances, but he was not there to empathise, he was here simply because he was sick of the tension between his human children and their mother. He was sick of her trying to force them to talk to her, when they clearly didn't want to. Sparkle, and even Carl had both very strongly expressed that their mother was annoying them, and that she wasn't making it any easier for them to come to her.

So, with the twins taking a nap and Roman watching them, and Brain with the other two, pinky decided, that today was a good time as any to talk with Maddie.

With coffee for the both of them, the human and the mouse were at the kitchen table, awkwardness in the room. Things were not going well.

Pinky took a sip of the Coffee in front of him before he spoke. "Maddie, I'm guessing you know why I'm here?"

She nods.

So he continues. "I'm just going to get to the point Maddie love, the kids have very openly expressed to me and my fiance that you're not helping the situation."

Pinky watches as she puts her head down in shame. He wants to reach out and comfort her, it's one of his many instincts, but he decides against it, as it wouldn't help.

"I just want my kids to confide in me... " Maddie says tearfully.

Pinky nods understandably. "I can imagine," Pinky sympathises. "But you shouldn't force them, it's only going to make it harder for them to come to you otherwise." He says.

Pinky saw Maddie's face go from mildly emotional, to mildly pissed off within a split second, but, he was prepared for that. Brain did it all the time back in the lab, so he was more than used to the explosive words by this point. Maddie proceeds to yell at him, and Pinky just takes it as though it was absolutely nothing.

After she's done, Pinky speaks up.

"We quite done? "He asks.

Maddie remains silent, and Pinky takes it as an opportunity to speak again. "Maddie, honey, all of the points you're making are contradicting themselves. First you yell at me because we're apparently 'brainwashing your children' when, no, we're not, if we were, the kids would've forgotten who you were by now. Secondly, you want to spend time with the kids, but don't bother to put in any effort? What the hell is the point in that? The kids, on many occasions, and I mean many occasions, have asked both of you to spend time with them. We've heard, and just so you don't think we're lying."

Pinky got out his phone, going to the recording app, and pressing play.

The recordings heard were the kids indeed asking Maddie and Damian if they could watch a movie together, play Monopoly together, or any board game really, other recordings had them crying asking the same questions, and other recordings had them giving up.

If that wasn't enough proof, Pinky honestly didn't know what was.

Maddie was stunned into silence.

Pinky shouldn't, but he smirks, knowing Maddie doesn't have anything else to fight against.

"And just so you're aware, we've been monitoring you and your ex partner with the kids, and we, Along with their social worker, both agree that you're not fit to take care of them."

Maddie growled. "Excuse me, what? I can take care of them thank you very much!" She defended.

"Oh really? Lying to them, breaking promises you made months ago, giving them their meals at incredibly late hours, I don't think that exactly counts as 'taking care of them' do you?" He asked.

Maddie broke down. "I love them..." She sobbed.

Now this was Pinky's time to comfort her. Pinky came over to her, climbing on her shoulders and nuzzling her cheek.

" I know you do, Maddie love... I can really see it, you love them so much, but if you can't provide for them, then it's not exactly safe for them to be here..." Pinky soothed.

" I want to spend time with them, really I do, but how can I if I need to provide them with the money I earn? When I stopped acting, I did it because of my daughter's premature birth, Otherwise I would have the financials to raise both of them.

Pinky nodded. "Yes, Poit! I can see that, but that doesn't excuse your actions towards them previously. In the recordings I just showed you where the kids are asking you and your ex partner if they can watch a movie with you, your responses were... Quite concerning if we're being honest... instead of calmly explaining to them, you got all up in their faces, screaming at them, which made them cry even more. That's not what they need, Maddie. Especially after their father left."

Maddie nodded.

"When are they leaving?" Maddie asks.

Pinky sighed, climbing down from Maddie's shoulder. "A week from now." Pinky says, not much emotion in the words.

"Thank you for your time, Maddie." Pinky says curtly, hopping down and leaving.

Back in their room, the kids had just came back from school.

Pinky smiled at the sight of them, coming over to them and giving them hugs and kisses. "I've missed my little ones so much today!" He exclaims over dramatically, Brain and Roman both shaking their heads fondly.

Over the next week the kids prepared for their leave, this time permanently. The kids were nervous, as any child would be, because they were leaving something they were used to for so long, never to go back to it. Pinky and Brain had both explained that they needed to leave their home because it wasn't safe for them anymore, one of them taking it a little too literally and thinking that their house was going to explode. But it wasn't, of course.

It was the night before they were set to leave, and neither of them could sleep.

Pinky watched in concern as the kids stared up at the ceiling. "Kids? Are you alright?" Pinky asks.

The kids turned to him, their eyes wide as saucers. Brain and pinky go over to them, nuzzling them comfortingly.

"Want to watch a Barbie movie?" Brain suggested softly. The kids gave a small nod, Carl reaching for the remote and turning on Netflix.

While the movie was playing, the kids watched it, unable to not think of their mother. They were leaving her in the morning, permanently, never to come back to her. Why did it have to be like this? Why couldn't they be happy? Why couldn't they be like every single normal family on TV? Why do things have to change? They would never know.

The morning came faster than any of them would've liked. The kids in the living room waiting for the inevitable, their mother sitting next to them, forcefully trying to keep a brave face up for them. They never hugged her as tight as they did that morning, they hugged her so tight that she was almost suffocating. Their suitcases scattered around the living room of everything they would need, another reminder that time was almost up.

Then it came.

The inevitable knock at the door.

Maddie went to answer it, her smile she wore so forced that if you didn't know the situation you would've thought she was a Barbie doll.

The lady that would be fostering them, smiled, sitting on the couch. "Hi Sparkle, hi Carl." She said softly.

"Hi Lila." They said at the same time, Pinky and Brain comforting them.

Maddie smiled at them, trying to not cry. "Be good for Lila, okay?" She said tearfully.

"We will Mom." They said at the same time.

Lila checked her watch, 10:35 am displayed on her watch. "Alright kids, i'm gonna put your suitcases in my van, and then it's time to go, okay? So let's say our final goodbyes to Mom, okay?"

Final goodbye.

Final goodbye.

This was real now.

Sparkle and Carl nodded as Lila went to get the suitcases.

Now it was just them in the room, of course Pinky, Romy, the twins and Brain were there too, the youngest twin barely understanding anything.

Maddie sighed. "Sparkle, Carl, I just want to say, I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry I couldn't confide for either of you... I failed you, and there's nothing I can do about it. Know that I love you more than anything, I know, I know I never said it, but I truly do mean it."

The kids hugged her tight, unable to hold back the tears anymore. They didn't want to leave, they really didn't, but they had to, their mother couldn't confide for them, so, they have to leave.

Time was running out, and that stupid clock kept reminding them of that fact.

Shut up Clock!

But, before long, Lila was back at the door, the kids barely noticing the fact that all of their suitcases were gone.

Time was up.

"C'mon guys, it's time." Lila said gently. The kids reluctantly pull themselves away, wishing they had more time, but they don't, and that's why it hurts. But they couldn't stay here, at least not now anyway. The kids reluctantly followed Lila to the van, sparkle giving one final look to her mother, never to be seen again.

The car ride, or in this case, van ride, was very quiet, minus the radio playing in the background. The kids watched the scenery drive past them, getting further and further away from the home they would never see again. This was not fair, this was the worst. Why do things always go wrong for this family? Why is it that they always get given the short straw? Why is it that their life out of 7 billion+ people in the world, why was it them that got all the trouble?

They would never know, and to be honest, they didn't want to know, they were too angry and frustrated to deal with that right now.

Marcy was trying to cheer everyone up by singing adorably, but it didn't help the situation at all. Sparkle was about ready to explode and having her little sister singing just made it worse!

Brain moved Marcy onto his lap, giving her a colouring book and some colouring pencils to keep her entertained.

Sparkle smiled gratefully to the megalomaniac, who smiled sweetly at her. "You okay? "He asked softly.

Sparkle shook her head, literally on the verge of tears, Brain handed his youngest twin daughter to Roman, who gladly held onto her as the megalomaniac clambered his way up towards his human daughter.

"Let it out baby girl... It's alright, I know it's a lot, I know... But you're doing well." He comforted.

"Papa?" Sparkle asked in a small voice.

"Yes, baby?" Brain murmured comfortingly.

"Can you make it go away? Please?" She asked.

Brain Kissed her cheek. "I'm afraid I can't do that, my love... But what I can do is this."

Brain nuzzled her comfortingly proceeding to sing.

"Where the North wind meets the sea.

There's a river full of memory.

Sleep, my darling, safe and sound.

For in this river, all is found.

In her waters, deep and true.

Lie the answers and a path for you.

Dive down deep into her sound

But not too far or you'll be drowned.

Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear.

And in her song, all magic flows.

But can you brave what you most fear?

Can you face what the river knows?

Where the North wind meets the sea.

There's a mother full of memory.

Come, my darling, homeward bound.

When all is lost, then all is found..."

He smiled as his daughter had calmed down. Singing often does that for her.

Brain remembered the conversation he and pinky had earlier that morning. The two of them just as baffled as to how they ended up in this situation, neither of them could understand why or what the possible hell could've caused this to happen. But they did know one thing for certain, they would help their family adjust, that was the least they could do.

When they got there, the kids were quiet. "Welcome kids, I hope you'll be happy here." Lila says happily.

"Thank you, Lila." They say in unison, Lila smiles. "Come on, let me give you the tour." She kindly says, the first stop being their room. The room was big and spacious, a profiling bed for Sparkle and a regular bed for her older brother. The room was a pastel blue colour, not many things littered the walls, most likely so the kids could put things up that they wanted to make it feel more like their own room.

Right next door to that was the bathroom, had a bath and shower, so both kids could decide what they wanted, but sparkle would most likely stick to showers as there was a shower chair already placed in the room.

"This is your room, feel free to decorate it anywhere you like!" Lila exclaimed.

Carl smiled shyly. "Um, Lila? Can we have some time to process please?" Carl asked.

Sparkle nodded for her response.

Lila smiled. "Of course!" She says. "Lorie told me that you like Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First, is that right?" Lila asked with a giggle. Sparkle smiles. " Carl likes Llama Boy! Right bro?"

Carl nodded.

Lila giggles. "Alright then kiddos, I'll let you relax for a while, I have to make lunch anyway, how does BLTs sound?" She asked.

"Okay." They said in unison.

Lila giggled again. "Would your mousey friends like some food too?" She asked.

Pinky, Brain, Roman, and the twins nodded eagerly. "Thank you, Lila, very much appreciated." Brain said warmly.

Lila giggles to herself, going off into the kitchen.

She was gone.

The mice came out from where they were to check if they were okay. They weren't. They were hurting, that was clear as glass.

Sparkle Miller and Carl Wheezer were not okay.

They were confused. Lost, they didn't understand what was going on. Why this was happening, they were scared, very scared.

Sparkle was the first to break down, she was overwhelmed, she wanted to go home. This wasn't her home. This was some stranger's house. They were somewhere new that they didn't know, because their stupid mother didn't leave them alone! They were almost comfortable to talk to her again! Almost! If she'd JUST waited, none of this would've happened and they would be in their usual home, but no! Instead, she had to be impatient and keep pressuring them, this was all her fault!

Carl was hurting too. He didn't want to be in the situation! He missed his friends, he missed his home, however toxic it was, he missed everything. He cried too, he didn't know how or what would make it better, but he was hurting.

Things were changing and he didn't like it, oh, if Jimmy was here, he could make it all better...

Carl felt his baby sister hug him, he wrapped his arms around her as her body shook from crying. No words were spoken between them, they didn't need words, they never usually did, they could tell what they were each thinking.

Carl eventually had the courage to speak. "We're gonna be okay, I don't know how, but we're gonna be okay..." Carl reassured, but wasn't sure if he was reassuring his sister or himself.

Sparkle nodded resolutely. "Nothing's stopped us before, but nothing's gonna stop us now. I don't like this situation that I'm in, but we have each other." Sparkle said.

Pinky and Brain nodded resolutely too. "Yes, poit! We're gonna be here for you, always. You kids don't have to worry about that. Brain and I aren't going anywhere, that's for certain."

"Yes! Family sticks together always! "Brain exclaimed.

"Hoof tho hearth!" Marcy exclaimed.

The group giggled at Marcy's declaration, she laughed too, unaware of what they were laughing at.

It was now bedtime for them, and like last night, they were having difficulty sleeping. It was a new place, a new place they still weren't used to, Pinky and Brain were busy dealing with the twins, so Roman was by their side, watching them struggle to fall asleep. He had to do something.

"The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad.

If we got each other, and that's all we have.

I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand.

You should know I'll be there for you,

When the world's not perfect.

When the world's not kind.

If we have each other, then we'll all be fine.

I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand.

You should know I'll be there for you..." Roman sang gently.

His human siblings smiled, extremely extremely grateful for their brother in that moment.

"I will always be here for you guys, I promise. You're not going to suffer this alone.." Roman said gently.

"Thank you, Roman.. You're the best big brother in the world." Sparkle says.

Roman smiled too. "You guys are the glarbist too, I love you guys. Now, it's time to get some sleep Sibs." He said gently, grabbing the remote for their TV and turning down the brightness as Jake and the Neverland pirates was playing quietly.

Yeah, times are difficult for them right now, but one day things would be okay.

A/N:

Helloooo everyone!

Things have been... Something let's say.

I've been struggling a lot, College isn't exactly what I thought it would be. Everyone says 'You have lots of friends' and I'm like, no, I don't. They're my peers, classmates, people I HAVE to interact with when I don't really have the social battery for it, but I think I made one genuine friend, let's call her Lilo, (as I'm writing these authors notes I'm currently watching Lilo and Stitch the series lol)

Lilo is actually really nice, she's really supportive too, I think me and her will be best friends! (I hope)

Last week we had to do a really scary presentation, usually, I'm pretty like good at talking in front of people, but everyone was like being loud and laughing and making it really difficult to speak in front of them. I didn't laugh when the other groups did their presentations, I was a good student, I followed the rules, I did everything right, I just hope my other classmates are doing alright, I know college can be quite a big thing, I have been struggling a lot with it.

Anyway, let's talk about this chapter shall we?

This chapter is very personal to me,as I went through something similar, and by 'I went through something similar' I mean, I broke down in a physiotherapy session when I was 16 exclaiming that my mother didn't do anything with me that summer, she didn't, by the way, she lied to me, and I'm still not over it.*folds arms madly* Thanks, Mom...

So, basically, the kids have had enough, their mom can't give them what they want, she wants to, of course, but, the relationship is unsalvageable, how can you live in a family if you don't have a relationship with them? I hope I'm making sense.

Fun fact, this was supposed to be the second to last chapter, we were supposed to get the wedding this chapter, and this was simply meant to be a flashback. But, after looking at how in-depth the flashback scene was, I couldn't exactly link it within the wedding, so we have I'd say three or four chapters left before our sequel is done! :( I know, another story is nearing a close, but our adventures aren't over yet friends, we still have a couple of chapters left!

So until then, I'll see you guys soon!
