Seafloor Cavern, Hoenn (Night)
"Dear lord, I hate this place." Gregory said as he walked down the last set of stone stairs. It took 15 minutes and dozens of Hyper Potions, but he had finally reached the innermost part of the cave. At the end of the room, he saw Archie standing over a pool of clear blue water.
"Well, if it isn't my little adversary! I can't even find the words to praise you as you deserve." the man said, turning around to greet the Blue Rose. "Sometimes it's best to keep things simple. All I'll say is that you've met my expectations, scamp! And I'm not just talking about today, but everything you've done in Hoenn up 'til now. And that's why you'll get the honor of meeting my new partner before anyone else living in this world!"
"Archie, what the hell are you planning?" Gregory asked, his eyes glowing a fierce blue. A rippling aura surged through the room, making the boy's soul tremble. "What in the-" Smirking, the Team Aqua Leader took a few steps to the side, allowing his adversary to see what was in the pool. It was a large statue of an extremely powerful Water-Type Pokemon. "You can't be serious." Gregory said, his power forming icicles that hung from the ceiling.
"Say hello to the Legendary Pokemon that created the sea! Kyogre, the Sea Basin Pokemon!" Archie said, infuriating the Huntsman. "How 'bout that?! That beautiful form so long resting at peace in the azure sea! I've been waiting so long for this day to come!"
"Stop what you're doing, Archie. This won't end the way you want it to." Gregory warned, grabbing a Poke Ball.
"Kyogre, listen to me!" the man pleaded, ignoring the boy's words. "We humans have disregarded Pokemon and nature both in our endless pursuit of our own desires and needs. And in the process, we've created this broken and disordered world. But this is the day when I finally obtain the power to return everything to how it once was. To return to our beginnings! Now that I can release the ancient power! The ancient power of Primal Kyogre!"
"You're being a fool. Kyogre wields enough power to drown all of Hoenn, maybe the world!" Gregory said, getting ready to throw his Poke Ball. "Even if you catch it, what makes you think it will obey you?"
"That's none of your concern." Archie said, turning to face his opponent. "Right now, you are the last token resistance that's trying to ruin my day. I'll use everything my partner and I have to crush you once and for all!" The Key Stone in the man's anchor pendant began sparkling, catching Gregory's attention. "Oh, and Mega Evolution? Did you think you and your Pokemon are the only ones who can use it? Let me show you now what I didn't get the chance to show you at Mt. Chimney. The true power of Team Aqua!" Archie reached into his pocket, grabbing a Poke Ball. "Sharpedo, come on out!" Archie threw the ball, releasing his strongest Pokemon.
"Don't say I never tried to talk you off the ledge." Gregory said solemnly. "Blastoise, let's do this thing!" The Blue Rose threw his Poke Ball, letting his partner onto the battlefield. "Use Skull Bash!" Smiling, Blastoise tucked it's head and cannons into it's shell, a red aura surrounding it as the Defense boost took effect.
"Don't give it the chance! Use Crunch!" Snarling, Sharpedo sped at the Shellfish Pokemon and bit into it's arm. However, Blastoise stood strong and took the attack.
"Now, Skull Bash!" Blastoise shook the Brutal Pokemon off before launching itself at it, crashing it's own head into Sharpedo's underside. "Follow up with an Ice Beam!" From the cannons on it's back, Blastoise shot out cyan beams of lightning at it's opponent.
"Use Aqua Jet to dodge!" Sharpedo coated itself in water before rushing out of Ice Beam's range. "I have to say, your Blastoise is something else if it managed to take Sharpedo's Crunch without as much as a flinch!" After saying that, Archie grabbed onto his Mega Anchor. "But there's no Pokemon out there that's won against us at our best. Sharpedo, Mega Evolve!" Blinding cerulean light spread from the Key Stone and to his partner's Sharpedonite, bringing forth Mega Sharpedo in a flash of brilliant blue light. "Use Take Down!" Jetting forward, Sharpedo directly struck the center of Blastoise's shell, sending the large Pokemon back a few feet.
"Okay. You want to battle with Mega Evolution?" Gregory asked rhetorically, getting his phone out from his pocket. Embedded in the back of the case was a Key Stone. "Let's do this sheep!" the boy yelled as he pressed his pointer finger to the gem, causing threads of cyan light to spill out and connect with the Mega Stone strapped to Blastoise's right cannon. Energy flooded the cave as Mega Blastoise appeared. "Ohohoho! You're screwed now! Use Dragon Pulse!" All three of Blastoise's cannons started glowing a deep purple before shooting out three beams of pure arcane energy. The beams hit Sharpedo, sending it flying into the wall.
"What in-?" Archie said, astonished by the speed at which Dragon Pulse was fired.
"Don't think Blastoise is slow just because it's heavy. When the stakes are this high, we'll go beyond our own limits to fight back." Gregory said, smiling at his partner. "Now, Hydro Pump!" With a feral glint in it's eyes, Blastoise launched three torrents of pressurized water at Sharpedo, knocking it out almost instantly and forcing it to revert to it's normal form. As the battle was over, Blastoise also returned to it's original form.
"Like I figured..." Archie said quietly as he sent Sharpedo back to it's Poke Ball. He then began to laugh hysterically, putting Gregory and Blastoise on edge. "Perfect! You're just as great as any little hero trying to save the world oughta be! But it changes nothing. I can't give up now! I can't!" The man pulled a blue crystal ball from his pocket. "I WILL use the power of this Blue Orb to awaken Kyogre at last! Then I'll return everything in this world to it's original, pure state! Now! AWAKEN, KYOGRE! RETURN EVERYTHING TO THE WAY IT WAS!"
"Archie!" a female voice yelled. Gregory and the Team Aqua Leader turned around to see Shelly, a Team Aqua Admin, running towards them. "That's enough!" she pleaded. "Can't you see the world you dream of and the world that Kyogre will create are two completely different places?!"
"She's right!" Gregory said, siding with the woman. "Steven told me about Kyogre's Drizzle Ability. What exactly do you think is going to happen if it's supercharged by Primal Reversion?"
"Shelly..." Archie said, closing his eyes. "I always believed that you at least would understand my dreams." The man turned to face the Legendary Pokemon. "But no! In the end, the only one I can depend on is you, Kyogre! Absorb all the power resting in this Blue Orb, and reclaim yourself! Revert to your primal form! This is the time to take back the great Evolution you lost in the ancient past!"
Suddenly, the entire cave started to shake. "Get out!" Gregory yelled to Shelly, who sped as fast as she could to the submarine. Worried, the boy ran to the edge of the cliff, watching as Kyogre's stone form cracked. From the fissures came a golden light that filled the entire pool. When the light died down, Archie and Gregory saw the Sea Basin Pokemon gazing at them with it's yellow eyes. Balling his hands into fists, Gregory charged at it with Blastoise, ready for a battle that would decide the fate of the world.
