"Well, I'm very sorry for your loss," Cy-Croc said, as she picked up the empty dirty bowls and took them to the kitchen sink and started to wash up. "But what about the other girlfriends you've had, like that blonde lady with two kids? And from what I've seen, all the ladies at that water park, whether they be lifeguards, customers or other staff members, seem to have a crush on you. Even the married ones." She gave him a wink.
As he dried up everything Cy-Croc washed up with a tea towel, Max explained to her all about the other girlfriends he had. After Roxanne was forced to leave him, his next girlfriend was Lisa, the blonde one with the kids, and they remained in a relationship until they both graduated high school. They broke up because they wanted to go to different colleges, but they remained friends otherwise Lisa wouldn't have asked him to be the godfather of her kids, which he considered a great honour. And she was doing very well for herself, being a single parent raising her kids all by herself and becoming one of the world's best fashion designers in the world, even earning the respect of Emma Glamour, the most power person in fashion in the whole wide world.
Then at college Max dated a lot of women including an African American lady called Lola who was now a marine biologist near Lake Michigan, a redhead called Charlotte, who ran her own garden centre in North Dakota and a blonde called Sasha who was working at an RV park in the countryside outside of Spoonerville. Then Max told Cy-Croc the other sad story, which was about Mona, the last girlfriend he ever had. He told the whole story of how he thought they were a happy couple until he discovered that she was cheating on him with the son of the CEO at her work and then she ran off with him and she had probably even married him and had three dozen children with him. He didn't care, let alone knew, because she broke his heart that much. In fact, that experience scarred him so much that it stopped him from dating anyone ever again.
At least, most of his girlfriends kept in touch with him and remained friends with him, mostly on social media. The only two that didn't keep in touch with him were Roxanne and Mona. For Roxanne, Max forgave her because her father never allowed her to use social media because he was the very overprotective type of father and she never was on it even today so Max knew it wasn't her fault and therefore wasn't mad at her, though it would have been nice to connect each other online and share what they had been doing during their lives. For Mona, it was a completely different story. Mona was still online on social media and they used to be friends on it when they were in a relationship, but since they left each other, neither of them wanted to see or do anything with each other ever again for the rest of their lives. They even avoided each other on all accounts of social media.
"Well, I'm so sorry for that as well," Cy-Croc said, as she finished washing up. "Well, it's Mona's loss. And I know how you feel. I've experienced what you experienced."
"Really, Cy-Croc?" Max asked, as he finished drying up everything she washed. "Who was the guy that ditched you for another girl?"
"No boy, I'm afraid," Cy-Croc said. "And it's not because I'm part cyborg. It's because I'm a –" Then she whispered into Max's ear.
"Oh, wow," Max said.
"I know, Max," Cy-Croc said. "I know what you're going to say."
"No, you don't," Max said. "You are who you are and that is the coolest thing ever."
"Thanks, Max."
"So can you tell me if you're seeing someone now?"
"No, I'm not seeing anyone now," Cy-Croc said. "Mainly because of work. It doesn't leave me time to have relationships."
"But was there one you really loved that you're struggling to let go off, like I am with Roxanne? Or someone you really loved but she broke your heart so much, like Mona broke mine?"
"Yeah, there is." Then Cy-Croc said she dated many females, but there were only two she felt got very close with. They were a mermaid called Princess Kiera and a sea monster called Rebecca.
"Sea monsters and mermaids actually exist?" Max was amazed.
"Oh, yeah, for real," Cy-Croc said. "And sea monsters can be ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside and mermaids, vice versa."
"So this Kiera, what kind of mermaid princess was she? Born into royalty or a spoiled brat?"
"Both. When I first met her on a mission which she gladly volunteered to help me with, she seemed very nice and friendly, but the more I spent time on furthers missions or on dates, the more I learned that she was a selfish, arrogant diva and only wanted to help me to make herself look good and not because she care about me at all. She was a real mermaid princess and I don't miss her at all, though I can't let her go because she was my first."
"And what was Rebecca like?"
"She was the complete opposite of Kiera. When I first met her on a mission, she was shy, but nice, friendly, modest and honest. She helped me with further missions and she was the most helpful with my missions. She's the one I miss the most."
"Wow," Max said. "Did something cause you two to break up?"
"Unlike Kiera, I didn't break up with Rebecca. I lost her. She had some sort of illness and no sea doctor or sorcerer could cure it. I learned a lot about medicine during my adventures and I tried to help Rebecca, but I made no better progress. However, she was glad I was with her until she drew her final breath." Tears started to come out of her eyes.
"Hey, you did your best, Cy-Croc," Max said. "And the fact that you were always there for her the very best way you could be proves you loved and cared for her."
"Thanks, Max." Cy-Croc stopped crying and started to yawn. "I'm getting tired now and we still need to get up and moving as early as possible, so how about we hit the beds?"
Then Max yawned himself. "I couldn't agree more."
"Max, do you feel better for getting those nightmares off your chest, if not out of your head?" Cy-Croc asked, as they got into their beds.
"Yeah, I do, actually. The 'getting it off my chest' part. I can't promise I won't have any more nightmares about them, but it should help. Do you feel better for getting your own stuff off your own chest yourself?"
"As a matter of fact, I do," Cy-Croc said. "Well, good night."
"Good night."
Then they went to sleep.
