Goofy jumped and fell out of bed when he woke up. He jumped as he saw two dozen alarm clocks around him waking up.
"Come on, Goofster!"
His friend Pete popped his head around the door.
"Get up, Goof! We ain't got all day. I need to fill my RV with gas and you need to get food from the supermarket."
As he got up, Goofy looked at one of the alarm clock. It was only eight o'clock in the morning. Before he could say a word to Pete, a long shopping list overtook him.
"Well, what are you waiting for, Goof? Get going! Oh, and I hope you have enough money for all this lot."
Goofy knew Pete was laughing because he didn't have any money at all and he couldn't get any because he was still unemployed. As he went to get the food from the large supermarket in Cincinnati, Goofy reminded himself that he still had to put up with Pete because he needed to ride in his RV to find his son Max. It had been two days since the water park Max worked at had a fire and he went missing. In fact, he was the only member of staff at the water park who was declared missing. This made Goofy determined to go and find his missing son, whatever it takes, even putting up with the abuse he got from Pete.
In the supermarket, Goofy was really struggling. Not only could he not find everything Pete wanted on the enormous list, but he needed more than one shopping trolley; he needed half a dozen at least. As if trying to find the food and keep the trolleys under his control at the same time wasn't stressing enough, he kept bumping into angry customers and members of staff, who even refused to help him find some items he couldn't find himself.
Then he noticed the sixth trolley starting roll away on its own. He gasped and ran after it, leaving the other trolleys behind. But no matter how fast he ran to grab it, he couldn't reach it before it crashed into something. It was a cleaner's trolley and there was a mess was all over, including the bucket over the cleaner with dirty water dripping down. Even her black pants, black boots and green t-shirt were dripping wet.
Feeling guilty, Goofy ran to help her. "Gosh, I'm so sorry," he said, as he helped the cleaner up.
"Don't even bother to apologise!" the cleaner snapped at Goofy, as she took the bucket off her head. "Do you have any idea how much that –"
When both the cleaner and Goofy looked at each other, they both gasped.
Goofy recognised the cleaner immediately. It was his niece, Debbie. "Hiya, Debbie."
Debbie immediately smiled. "Hey, Uncle Goofy!"
They hugged each other.
"How have you been?" they asked in unison. "I've been –" Then they both realized what they were doing.
"You go first, Uncle Goofy," Debbie said.
Goofy apologized for what he unintentionally did to her and explained about Pete's shopping list and his struggle with the trolleys and how he doesn't even have the money to pay it.
"Well, I have a break in two minutes," Debbie said.
"Bit early, ain't it?" Goofy asked.
"Oh, I've been working here since six this morning," Debbie said. "I have a fifteen-minute break. If you hang on, after I get changed out of these wet clothes, I'll give you a hand and help you pay for it and we can have a proper catch up."
"Are you sure, Debbie? Well, gosh, thanks a lot."
As Goofy waited for Debbie to finish her shift, he heard a lot of crashes and bangs and screaming. He grabbed the trolley that crashed into Debbie and her cleaning trolley to see what the commotion was. He saw that it was his other trolleys; not only had they crashed into other supermarket stalls, but they knocked them down. He sheepishly backed away before the angry customers and staff members could spot him and go after him like an angry mob.
"Seriously, Debbie, I can't thank you enough for your help and paying for everything," Goofy said, as he and his niece carried the shopping bags. "And I'm so sorry for those supermarket disasters."
"It's no problem, Uncle Goofy." Debbie was now wearing new black boots, a white tank top and blue jeans. "It's my job to clean the supermarket. And who knows what I could get from working overtime?"
Goofy didn't get what she meant.
When Debbie saw the RV, she was amazed. "Is that your RV? It's very cool."
"Oh, no. It belongs to my friend Pete."
As impressed as Debbie was with how the RV looked, she was even more impressed when she went inside to help Goofy put the groceries in the kitchen. After putting the food down, Goofy gave her a tour of the RV and he briefly introduced her to Pete who greeted her not too warmly and went into the RV muttering about how late Goofy was for making him breakfast. But Debbie volunteered to stay and help Goofy cook Pete's breakfast, which Goofy gladly accepted.
"Once again, thanks, Debbie," Goofy said.
He and Debbie were setting at the table and chairs under the parasol and they had fried eggs, mushrooms and baked beans for their own breakfasts. As they ate, they chatted and exchanged stories about what's been going on in their lives since they last met, which was when her cousin Max was still in college and he won his College X Games trophy. She knew what Max had been up to because she was friends with on the same social media sites he was on. After Goofy told Debbie what he had been up to, she told him that since the last time she met him she got a job as a janitor at the supermarket and she was in a relationship.
"Gosh, that's swell," Goofy said. "I'm very happy for you. Who is the lucky person?"
Debbie heard some panting which made her turn to look behind her and she smiled. "She's right here."
Goofy saw someone running towards the RV. It was a female African American dog with long black hair and wearing a red tank top, black shorts and white trainers and socks. She hugged Debbie.
"Uncle Goofy, this is my partner, Susan," Debbie said. "Susan, this is my Uncle Goofy."
"How do you do, Mr. Goofy?" Susan asked, shaking his hand.
"I'm-a doin' great," Goofy said. "Nice to meet you."
"Debbie, is this your uncle whose son has gone missing?"
"That's right, honey."
"You know about Max missin'?" Goofy asked.
"Well, we've heard about it," Susan said. "We hope he gets found soon."
"You mean neither of you have seen him in Cincinnati?"
"No, Mr. Goof," Susan said. "Sorry."
"But we will look out for him," Debbie said. "And if either of us do see Max, we will look after him and call you immediately, we promise."
"Thanks, both of you," Goofy said.
Then Susan's watch beeped. "Oh, dear. I'm nearly late to teach my spinning class. Well, it was nice to meet you, Mr. Goofy, and good luck finding Max."
"Thanks, Susan," Goofy said. "And it was nice to meet you too."
"And I'll see you later, Debbie," Susan said.
"Okay, love. Good luck." Debbie gave her partner one last hug before she ran off. Then Debbie's watch beeped itself. "It's time I got back to work myself." Then she gave her Uncle Goofy a big hug. "Bye, Uncle Goofy. It was great to catch up with you again."
"And it was great catching up with you too, Debbie," Goofy said, as he waved to her as she headed back to the supermarket.
Then he gathered up the dirty plates and mumbled as he headed to the kitchen.
"Are you done with your family reunion, Goofster?" Pete asked.
"Sure am, Pete," Goofy said. "And I feel good for it."
"Oh, good. Because there are dishes that need to be done!"
Goofy looked at the sink and saw a mountain of dirty pots, pans and cutlery.
"After that, there's dusting, vacuum cleaning and mopping the floors. No, not mopping. Elbow greasing them! Now, get to work, you lazy thing!"
"Right oh, Pete."
While Pete went to drive the RV, Goofy went to work himself. As he mumbled as he worked, He did feel better for catching up with his niece Debbie and seeing her partner Susan and he still held onto hope for find his son Max.
