Chapter Fourteen
Even though Stakar and Aleta were finally finding a correct grove, of taking care of Peter, which was a full-time job in itself, and the child needed more structure as Actveia put a call through for the four-year-old who had done everything that day, needed something else to do.
Up on the Bridge, both of the Ravagers in charge looked at each other, since according to Yondu's information Peter did odd jobs around the Elector. Which in bold that he was normally paid for them since no way in hell was their son going to be used as a skivvy.
But it was Mainframe who suggested taking him down to the storage cupboards and going through the old boxes. There was nothing valuable in any of them, and for a child, it would be like a treasure hunt.
Peter was giddy when he was told this since he was allowed to go through boxes on the Elector and wondered if this crew often did what the Elector crew did, and leave some s
weets or toys in the boxes for him to find. With his parent's consent of course.
It was Stakar who took Peter down to tell him of this, since the area was well maintained with a security camera no one would hurt him. Also, he could monitor everything from the Bridge.
Stakar knew Aleta was perturbed by this child even though she wouldn't admit why. But little Peter was even more happy when he was told he was getting forty units for it.
The boxes had all been laid out, and with Peter going through them all, he was only four but knew what trash was and treasure. All it was were some clothes and one figurine, which he knew his daddy would have liked, and he wondered if he could ask for it.
There were a few old pads, and scrappy bits Peter pulled out a framed picture, and his eyes lit up at the people in it.
It was old and covered in a thick layer of dust, which Peter wiped clean with the sleeve of his jumper, and looked for a while at the picture and his eyes lit up.
At the same time, Aleta and Stakar were disturbed, by the sound of little Peter coming on to the Bridge with a big grin on his face, and holding something in his hands. "I went through all the boxes, and there was so much junk, but I found this picture, and my daddies are in it".
Peter exclaimed as he scrambled onto Aleta's lap, to show off his new treasure, and at the sight of it, Aleta's heart sank, and Stakar's lips twisted since they thought they had erased all of it.
How this picture in a frame got left behind was a mystery, but Peter who had never seen any of this pointed out everyone.
"Look there is Horuz, and Iztel and he still has both his arms, and my daddies, but look Daddy Yondu hasn't got his fin under his bandana, you can see it". Then Peter pointed to the two Xandarian, two young, fit and healthy men, one of whom had his arm thrown over the other. "And I didn't know who they are".
"Their names were Regellen and Hoag", said Aleta, and even saying their names were a reminder of their betrayal, whilst Peter just didn't notice "Where are they?" stated Peter, and it was Stakar who continued "They died".
Death wasn't a foreign concept to Peter, but he had his toddler curiosity "How did they die?"
It was such a simple question, but the conciseness was eating away at Aleta and after all these years she finally confessed the one thing, that Kraglin always wanted her to.
"Because Stakar and me did something terrible".
To be continued.
Ok Regellen and Hoag, are two characters I've mentioned in the past, but now this story gets complicated.
in the series part called, "Whispers in the Dark" which takes place at the same time of this one. round about where chapter 9 begins, before I never showed Yondu and the rest in the field and doing their jobs.
from that point, it will then spin off into another chapter called "The Parting of the Ways" which is a flashback to show what happened between Stakar, Kraglin, Aleta, Stakar and Regellen and Hoag, before after that is concluded it picks up again with "Things Never Left Unsaid"
this may be complicated.
