Whoohoo chapter 3. yes! Having a blast. Hahaha...own nothing just Fuego.

Fuego lay in his bed in a state of disbelief. He couldn't believe he was still laying in a actual bed. He had been in a constant state of disbelief for the last two days. The day before yesterday he rested; and yesterday he was given a tour of the academy and most of the city. It was all so exciting for him but not as exciting as today was gonna be. It was his first day of school. He wished the sun would rise up quicker. Thankfully, he did not have to wait for long. It was already starting it's ascent into the sky above. It wonderful rays burning away the night and ushering in the new day. He sat up and got out of bed. He walked over to the window and opened it. Allowing him to feel the cool morning air on his scales. He took in a deep breath and slowly exhaled.

He then said to himself. "Time to get ready." He walked away from the window and to his desk. The day before he had been given a satchel, a couple of books, and some feather pens. Apparently he needed all of these so he could study and take notes.

Fuego couldn't stop smiling; he was just so excited. Toady was his first day as a student. His first day of learning rather than surviving. His first day of being just a normal dragon. Even if his first day didn't start for another two hours. He opened one of the drawers to his desk and pulled out his schedule. He looked at his first class for the day. It was chemistry with Volteer. Fuego smiled happily; he like Volteer. Even though he met him two days ago; the electric guardian had taken his fascination. He reminded him of an elder he knew. Simply because like the elder he would start rambling. And, it would seem like he would never stop. He chuckled a little before he walked to the door and exited his room.

The hallway was empty and it was very quiet. So quiet one would hear a pen drop all the way from the other end of the hall. He began to walk to the courtyard. Spyro had showed him that area yesterday. And, he preferred it over the foyer. He made sure to walk softly; that way he would not wake anybody else up. Eventually he reached the courtyard and sighed peacefully. He walked over to the single tree that grew in the courtyard and sat underneath it. As he sat beneath the tree; he continued to enjoy the cool morning air. Reaching into his bag he pulled out one of the books he had placed inside of it.

The book itself was not one of the academic books he was given; it was a book he had checked out from the temple's library. He figured he would pass the time by reading. As he read the book; he was pulled deeper and deeper into it's pages. The story had him in it's grasp and it was not letting him go any time soon. When a gentle paw grabbed his shoulder he yelled as he jumped to his feet. He panted a little as his heart beat a little faster. He heard Cynder and Spyro laughing.

Cynder apologized. "Sorry, Fuego." She giggled a little before asking. "You okay?"

Fuego took in a deep breath and sighed before answering. "I'm fine. Considering you almost gave me a panic attack." He chuckled a little before he picked his book back up.

Spyro asked him. "What are you doing up so earlier?"

Fuego responded with a question of his own. "I can ask you the same thing. Don't the classes start in two hours?":

Spyro replied. "Thirty minutes actually." He pointed up at the sun. "Wow, you've been up longer than us."

Fuego smiled sheepishly before putting the book back in his satchel. He thanked both of them. "Thanks for letting me know." He then asked. "What are your first classes?"

Cynder answered. "Literature arts."

Spyro answered. "Crystal growing." He asked him. "You?"

He answered. "Chemistry."

Shortly after the bell above the temple started to ring. Signaling the start of the first set of classes. After saying their goodbye; the three left for their classes. Spyro and Cynder both swore Fuego wouldn't stop smiling. They were correct; he kept smiling all the way to the classroom. The moment he entered the room; he was met with the gazes of about ten different dragons. He froze for a moment before he caught sight of an empty seat. Quickly he made his way towards it and sat down. The moment he did the other students resumed talking to one another.

Fuego was excited for the class to begin; he was happy. Very happy with this opportunity. He never though that he would get this chance. A chance to actually learn. He checked the room around him; no one was paying attention to him. He was thankful for that. That meant no one would notice when he did his little ritual. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. As he slowly exhaled he became aware. Aware of everything and everyone in the class room. A group of three dragonesses in the right corner desks were gossiping. They were talking to one another about Spyro. Some dragons in the center. Two males to be exact. They were talking about how boring the class was possibly going to be.

Some of the other students were either getting themselves ready. Or, they were preoccupied with other things to pay attention. As he finished breathing out; Volteer tapped a talon and started taking attendance. He took in another breath as Volteer began calling out names. A dragoness named Dazzle was first, followed by a male dragon name Meteor. Aqua, Valor, Geo, he was going through his list.

Volteer called out. "Fuego?"

Fuego stood up and nearly yelled. "Here!" The moment he realized what he was doing; it was already to late. His classmates were staring at him. The silence was slightly embarrassing to him. He was embarrassed by how his body just reacted. Embarrassed by how he was so used to responding. He smiled nervously as he sat back down and repeated gently. "I mean here.:

A few students started to laugh at him. It was all stopped by Volteer who simply cleared his throat. He then began to teach the class; he instructed them to turn to chapter two in their books. Fuego kept his head down through most of the class. That was really embarrassing. A short time later the bell rang and the students were off to their next class. Fuego was the last to leave the classroom. He smiled as he looked at his schedule. His next class was with Terrador in the training hall. He nodded and started walking towards the hall.

As he arrived he saw some of the other students were already there. The seemed to be sparring with each other. Seeing them fight made him a shudder a little. One of the other students in the room walked over to him. It was a male dragon with yellow scales.

He greeted him. "Hey."

Fuego smiled and greeted back. "Hello."

The dragon introduced himself. "Names Static." He then asked him. "Wanna spar?"

Fuego grimaced a little as he backed away from the dragon. He apologized. "Sorry, but, I don't like fighting."

Static questioned. "Really?" He then spoke. "But, this class is about defensive fighting."

Fuego nodded and replied. "I know." He explained. "I just don't like fighting with other dragons."

They were silent for a moment before static turned and walked away. Fuego sighed in slight relief before walking over to a side wall. As he sat down he reached into his satchel and pulled out the book he was reading. He turned to the bookmarked page and continued reading. Again the book captured him with it's words. His imagination worked wonders as the words turned to images in his mind. It was like he could hear the voices of the characters. It sounded like their were sitting right next to him. Telling him their story as he read the book.

It was then a loud booming voice called his name. "Fuego!"

He jumped as he looked up; he was so caught up in the story that he didn't even know the class had started. Smiling sheepishly he put away his book and joined the rest of his classmates. As he sat down next to one of them Terrador cleared his throat.

He then said. "Thank you for joining us, Fuego." He heard some of his students laughing a little. A quick glare at them stopped them; on the inside he chuckled a little. But, on the outside he was the stalwart earth guardian. When everything was quiet again he continued. "Well, now that I have everyone's attention again. I say we start the class." his gaze fell on Fuego. "Fuego, please come here."

Fuego gulped and nodded before walking over and standing next to him. Terrador stepped to the side and pointed towards the center of the room. Fuego nodded and made his way to the center. As he stood their something was thrown at him. He caught the item and smiled; it was his daggers.

Terrador instructed him. "Go ahead and put them on."

Fuego nodded and quickly strapped his blades to his legs. As he secured the straps he heard Terrador say. "You will be facing training dummies. If they do any harm to you; you're training will be over and I will see what your experience is when it comes to fighting." Terrador then walked to the edge of the ring; he looked at Fuego and continued. "This first test will be how you handle yourself in a one on one battle." He then shouted. "Begin!"

Out of nowhere a wooden ape appeared in front of Fuego. It made a mocking gesture at him; while he drew both of his daggers. He smiled at this as some wise words spoke to him. He held one dagger out in front of him like a shield. While the other he sheathed. The dummy seemed to stare at him. Then it charged him head on. Fuego started to inhale and as the dummy was halfway to him he slowly exhaled. Time slowed as he waited for his moment to strike. He watched the dummy carefully; it held a wooden hand back behind its head. It was going to try and punch him. But, it made one fatal mistake. It's other hand was out in front of it. Possibly to knock him down; while it used it's other hand to deliver the blow.

At the last possible second Fuego suddenly switched his hold on the handle. He held the dagger in the reverse style. He swung the blade in an upward arch; the dummy's arm not only splintered. But, the dummy was also knocked backwards. As the dummy hit the floor; Fuego did a quick turn. His free hand grabbing hold of the dagger he had sheathed. With a firm grip he pulled it out and threw it at the dummy that was charging him from behind. The weapon was embedded in the dummy's head. He turned again and sprinted towards the first dummy. It tried to regain its footing but he was too quick. With a single thrust into it's chest it splintered just like the second one.

Terrador was impressed to say the least. Most prisoners of war were not as experience in fighting. He commented. "Good work, Fuego." He then instructed him. "Go ahead and reset."

Fuego nodded and walked to pick up his other dagger. He was aware that some of his classmates were talking about him. They seemed a little impressed by him. While others whispered that he was a showoff. As he sheathed his daggers he readied himself for the next phase. Terrador tapped his talon twice.

The earth guardian then spoke. "This next test will see how you do with larger enemies." a large training dummy spawned in front of Fuego and he shouted. "Begin!"

Fuego was surprised by the size of the dummy. But, it did little to intimidate him. It wasn't that big; it was large but not big. He knew how to deal with foes this big. But, he didn't know if it would still apply to two legged foes. The large dummy lifted it's large fists into the air. Like the dummy before it was making a gesture. Did apes always make a gesture before attacking? He got his answer when the dummy charged him. Like before he waited patiently for the dummy to close the distance between them.

At the last possible second Fuego rolled forward as the dummy rose it's arms to strike. As he was mid-roll he grabbed the hilts of his daggers. Before his feet made contact with the ground he unsheathed his blades. The moment his feet touched the ground; in a single swift motion he sprinted forward. Stopping just behind the dummy. His daggers drawn and held out to the sides. The dummies leg's cracked and splintered. Before it fell forward and disappeared in a cloud of dust. It was then Fuego gasped as a small fire ball struck him in the face. Knocking him backwards.

He rubbed his snout as he asked. "What the?" He looked up just in time to see another dummy disappear.

Terrador spoke. "I will commend you on taking down your first two opponents." He watched as the young dragon looked at him. He continued. "And, it was interesting how you took down the larger one. But, you were too confident. Doing so left you open for a long range attack."

Fuego nodded as he was helped up; Terrador the motioned for him to relinquish his weapons. He did so with slight hesitation. He felt naked without his weapons. But, he didn't want to cause anymore commotion than he already had. Terrador then motioned for him to go sit with the rest of his classmates. He nodded before walking back and sitting down with the others. Terrador then called for another dragon to join them. As he sat with his classmates Fuego became lost in thought. He wasn't angry or embarrassed. He was just simply happy.

He quietly spoke to himself. "If only they could see me now."

Ignitus continued to read through Fuego's book. This young dragon was a mystery being written before him. As he studied the book he became aware of a presence behind him. He turned and looked only to see a dragon of similar size to Fuego.

He asked the figure. "Who might you be?" The figure began to walk closer to him.

Yes, three! Still as nervous as ever but I am having a blast lol. Thanks to the two who have my story as their fave and to the three who are following it. Means a lot.
