Ch. 3
Sonya stood on a rocky bridge, trying to keep from tearing her hair out. It's been almost thirty minutes since the first couple fights and she was trying to contact her special forces team.
"Triangulating your signal," the guy at the other end said, through the static. "But there's no island."
"I'm standing on it!" Sonya yelled, stomping on the bridge she was on. "Just lock onto my wrist comm."
Johnny Cage opened the small, gated door that led to the bridge, then smiled as he noticed Sonya. He had wondered a small portion of the island and was finally able to find the one hot chick he wanted to find.
"Understood," command said over the intercom. "What's your current status?"
"They've got Jax," Sonya said, almost frantic. "And if I don't fight in this crazy tournament, they'll kill him. I'm gonna have to—"
"Need any help?" Johnny asked, walking up to the blonde. "I specialize in rescuing damsels in distress."
Sonya had turned around and got in an attack position, only to drop it when she saw the movie star. "You again?" She asked in disbelief. "Listen, I've got serious problems here, and I'm not in the mood to be hit on by some 2-bit movie star."
Johnny scoffed as he shook his head. "C'mon," he said after a second. "A girl like you shouldn't be wandering around on this freak show alone."
Sonya shook her head and took a deep breath before turning around. Johnny took a step back, almost insulted that she'd shoot him down the way she did. "Listen, babe, I can't let you run loose without an escort."
Sonya had then elbowed him in the get, getting him to back off, then kicked him in the chest. She cracked her knuckles and got into a battle stance. "I don't need an escort," she said sternly. "And I'm sure as hell not your babe."
Johnny sighed in his head, not believing his rotten luck. He raised his hands and got ready for a fight. Although he just wanted to help, he couldn't help but think he may have needed to have plan out speaking to her more.
Sonya jumped up in the air and kicked Johnny in the jaw. The movie star had flown back a few feet, but recovered quickly. Johnny threw a green ball of energy towards Sonya, who had processed block it. Johnny then launched himself forward and tried to kick Sonya, green energy engulfing him. Sonya had jumped up to dodge the attack, only to be hit with an energy ball the moment she was a couple of feet away from him. Sonya had recovered and launched a serge of purple energy from her wrist-com.
Johnny dodged the energy ball and threw a few of his own. Sonya had dodged Johnny's projectile attacks and ran towards the movie star. The blonde tackled the movie star and started punching him with everything she had. After a few seconds, she got up and kicked him a few feet. Johnny got back up weakly and shook himself off before getting back into his fighting stance.
Sonya then tried charging at Johnny again, only for the movie star to surge with energy and kick her upward. Before Sonya could recover, Johnny landed and jumped back up, elbowing her in the chin. Right before Sonya hit solid land, Johnny had launched himself forward and kicked her twice, glowing with red energy. Sonya tried to get back to her feet, but couldn't even get back up.
Johnny then chuckled to himself, smugness radiating off him. "Not bad for a…girl." Johnny said before trailing off. He noticed that his remark made him an ass before shaking his head. The movie star walked over to her and extended his hand to help her up. "Sorry, just got over my head."
"I don't need your help," Sonya said before slapping Johnny's hand away.
Johnny raised his hands and backed off a little. "Fine," he said, shaking his head. "Have it your way, I'll leave you to your problems."
Johnny turned around, only to be face-to-face with Kano, the leader of the Black Dragons. Before the movie star could react, he was thrown off the bridge by the Australian. Kano smiled cockily as he walked over to Sonya.
"Now that he softened you up," he said confidence. "It's my turn."
"Not man enough for a fair fight?" Sonya asked, getting up weakly.
"I don't do 'fair,' you little bitch. Now, there's no need to get feisty."
Unbeknownst to the two, Johnny had managed to grab the ledge and was hanging on for dear life. He was able to get back up onto the bridge after he managed to get his feet onto something solid. Cracking his knuckles and stretching, he looked over to see Kano attacking Sonya.
"So tell me, how's command?" Kano asked.
"Bastard!" Sonya yelled, trying to get up after Kano used his eye laser.
"Gullible little bitch. Just had to point you in the wrong direction, gotta say, couldn'ta done it without ya."
"Step away from the lady," Johnny said running towards Kano. Kano turned around, surprised by Johnny's survival. Johnny smiled and took an attack stance. "Fans think my moves are all wire work and special effect. But the truth is that I AM the special effects."
Kano took a fighting stance as Johnny had ducked under him and tried to uppercut him. Kano, however, stepped back and then quickly launched himself forward as he rolled himself into a ball. Johnny axe-kicked the Australian gang lord the second he got in range. Kano was launched into the air by the force of hitting the ground.
Johnny focused green energy to his fist and quickly punched Kano straight in his spine. Before Kano could land, the movie star kicked him away. Kano got up quickly and threw a few knives at Johnny, only for the cocky star to dodge them. Kano quickly rolled up into a ball and quickly launched himself towards Johnny's legs. Johnny tried kicking Kano away, but couldn't match the force of the curled up man.
Johnny fell to the ground and scrambled to get back up. Kano then grabbed Johnny by the leg and yanked him over his head and slammed the movie star to the ground. Before Johnny could recover, he felt Kano's laser on his chest. In an act to get back to his feet, Johnny had kicked Kano in his nuts, which caused the Australian to stop his attack to grab his bruised 'sack. Johnny then punched Kano in the chin and launched him in the air.
For a moment, Kano felt the air rush past him, then after a few seconds, he looked down and saw the ground rushing past him. Before he could hit the spikes below, he had shoved a knife in a rocky pillar to slow his descent. Looking around, he saw he was in the pits, a place he was told was very dangerous because of the monsters that lurked there, including a strange monster that called itself "Chameleon."
Looking up, Kano angerly scowled before walking off. As he walked away, defeated, he could feel the eyes of a few monsters. He knew he could handle any monster running around there, and he knew his way around.
"Not bad for a 'Two-bit movie star,'" Johnny said, chuckling. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Sonya said, "thanks."
Johnny walked to Sonya, and extended his hand again. Sonya looked at it for a sec before accepting it. When she got to her feet, she dusted herself off.
"Who was that?" Johnny asked.
"That was Kano," Sonya replied, stretching her back. "He was our informant for the Black Dragon investigation, they were big-time arms dealers. Come to find out, he was they're leader and was throwing us on wild goose chases. We've lost lots of men because of him."
"W-wait, so that isn't a costume?" Johnny's eyes widened and he almost gasped when he heard her story. "You're actual military?"
"Yep." Sonya nodded; almost glad Johnny wasn't overreacting. "Special forces to be specific."
"Get outta here! So Raiden wasn't kidding about the 'fate of the world' business and called in the cavalry."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't even know who Raiden is. I'm just here to save a friend, Jax, and bring down Kano."
Sonya looked down at the path below, she couldn't find Kano anywhere. She mentally kicked herself for not being able to get her biggest target.
"Don't worry," Johnny said, "This isn't exactly a big island, he mustn't have gotten far."
Sonya raised a hand and smiled. "I'll deal with him later," she said. "Thanks for the help, Cage."
"Friends call me Johnny," the movie star said, smiling as he shook Sonya's hand.
"I'll see you later, I've got to go find Jax. He's somewhere on this island, I know it."
Sonya ran off, leaving Johnny in the dust. Johnny smiled, then decided to walk off as well. He had to find Raiden and the other guys, if the fate of the world was really at stake, he could only hope to be of some help.
Sorry for not updating for a really long time. I've been dealing with life, I moved in 2017, then got evicted in 2018. My second laptop decided to shit itself, and now I have a new one. I wrote two books, then got them published so people can buy them. It's just that writing the books took so much of my time that I kinda just abandoned fanfic writing until now. Again, just sorry for not updating, I promise I'll get back to writing stuff.
