TRIBULATION

chapter eight - burst

Caroline hazed around her kitchen as she sat quietly with peanut on her lap, glancing at her mother who was staring at her with a look she could not detect. Caroline bit her lip wondering, if something happened to her or did she do something wrong?

Caroline sighs as she glances at a peanut who began to lick her hand as a form of comfort. Liz Forbes was always busy, she spent most of her days at work but coming home in morning to see her daughter with scars was astonishing because why hadn't she noticed those before?

Because the more she thinks about it her daughter has not been herself for a long time and what kind of mother was she to see this drastic change so late. If she had not seen her scars, would she have even noticed the change in her daughter?

Caroline shifted her seat in discomfort, noticing the gaze her mother had on her scars. She felt sick as she could not tell her what happened to her, because it can go two ways. One it would crush her or two she won't believe her, as she and Damon are best friends.

Plus she has a third reason, that she knows is wrong but she has it in her, no matter how hard she tries to get rid of that thought. Caroline lets out a shaky breath, "Don't."

"Caroline," muttered Liz as her eyes filled up with tears. Liz could see the way her daughter was trying to hold it together and not break in front of her. Liz lets out a single tear as she wiped it away, quickly. Liz lets out a shaky breath, "You can tell me, sweetie?"

"I can't," mumbled Caroline as a velcom of emotions swirled into her as she tried to focus on one emotion but couldn't exactly pinpoint on a specific emotion. Liz pleaded to her daughter, "Tell me. I can help. I can-"

"Stop! Just stop," cried Caroline as her reaction startled Peanut to jump off her lap. Caroline let out breath as she stood up trying to go to her room but her mother came in her way with pleading eyes. Caroline sighs as looks at her, "A part of me blames you, which makes no sense. But I do, so just go before I say something I regret."

Liz swallowed her sob away as the distraught look on her daughter set an unsettling feeling within her. Liz shook her tears away, "Tell me, please. I don't care, whatever it is. Take your anger out on me if it makes you feel better."

Caroline felt the bubble of rage in her as she just yelled it out, "I was raped."

A drop of silence fell into the room. Caroline shook her head with anger and tears flowing out of her, as she tried to steady her breathing. She glances at her mother, seeing the horrors hit her face. Liz glances at her, stuttering to say anything, "Who?"

Caroline shook her head, refusing to say his name. Liz took a step forward as tears flowed out of her eyes, "Why don't– why did you never say anything?"

"Because you are friends with him mom," muttered out Caroline. Not caring as the tears flowed out of her corn blue iris. The tugging pain in her heart for the reveal she made to her mother. The worst part is, that she does not feel better, it somehow feels worse. She glanced at her mother who stumbled with her words, "What?"

Caroline bit her lip, as she cried to her, "You know him and I'm not sure if you would ever believe me. And I blame you, I do which is not fair but I do mom. Because you raised me to be kind, trusting, open and he took that. Worse part is that I in some way put myself in that position because I wanted to be needed, to feel something because you weren't always here, never home. To be fair I don't know you."

Caroline began to sob as she tried to ignore the way her mother fell apart with her words, she tried to blink her tears away. Liz did not respond as there were no words that she could come up with. She hadn't realized how much truth was in her words because she did not know her daughter in the way she should.

Caroline flashed upstairs as she packed some clothes and put them in a bag. She flashed downstairs, grabbing peanut, as she did not spare her mother a look, "I'm spending the next few nights at Bonnie's place."

Caroline did not glance at her as she walked out but if she did take millisecond to turn around she would have noticed the distraught look on her mother's face as it was sadness and guilt written all over her. Caroline took a breath as she walked out, noticing the bright blue sky that was bright. It was kind of blinding but alluring to her.

She felt a peanut curled in her arms as he probably wanted to be set free but she forgot his leash so she pet him gently, "Come on, Peanut. It will be fun at Bonnie's house."

Peanut barked as if he understood her. Caroline smiled as she moved a bit quicker, heading to Bonnie's house. Making her way there she gently knocks revealing Bonnie with pj's from the night before. Bonnie glanced in worry as she noticed her friend with a bag and her puppy. Caroline let out a nervous breath, "Can I spend the next few days here?"

Bonnie immediately nodded, stepping to the side as Caroline came through, setting peanut down who ran through the house. Caroline had a soft smile on her, "Thanks Bon."

Bonnie nodded as she grasped her hand to Caroline's, "Always. You okay?"

"I don't want to talk about it," mumbled Caroline, with her head down. Bonnie did not say anything as she grabbed her hand, heading to her room where both girls threw themselves to the bed.

Peanut jumped on the bed, jumping excitedly next to the two girls who laughed at the small puppy. The two girls spent the rest of the day hanging around Bonnie's bed and watching movies and eating a bunch of junk food.

The evening had arrived and Caroline was sulking as there was peace offering dinner at the Mikaelson's and she wasn't sure what to wear. Bonnie handed her a dress pointing to bathroom as she went into.

She changed into a thin strap black velvet dress with see through gloves. She finished it with a short pair of leather black boots, gold jewelry and her hair was loose.

Caroline whistled as Bonnie came to her view wearing a beautiful green silk dress that showcased her beautiful melanin skin. Her hair was in its natural curly state as it flowed beautifully with very slight moves she made.

"You look beautiful, Bon," cooed Caroline, in awe of how beautiful her friend is. Bonnie had flush cheeks as she shook her head. When Caroline suggested earlier for her to wear that dress, she was a bit skeptical about it but seeing the way it fit her she could not help but love it.

Bonnie offered her hand to Caroline who accepted as she turned around, whistling at Caroline, who let out the most lovable giggles, feeling really good for once. Bonnie held her hand, "You look amazing. Completely gorgeous."

Caroline laughed as her friend kept spitting compliments at her. Caroline retorted with the same energy, "You, Bonnie Bennett are the most gorgeous woman that I ever met."

The two girls laughed at their antics as they went downstairs. Bonnie suggested they take a few pictures as they looked so good and needed to capture how hot they look.

Peanut had joined their mini photoshoot. Caroline bent down as she kissed Peanut, "We will back before you know it Peanut."

"Take care of the house Peanut," joked Bonnie but she loved the little guy. Peanut barked at both of them which caused the girls to laugh. They exited the house, locking beforehand as they decided to walk, well Caroline needed it so she can mentally prepare herself.

Bonnie sighs as she nudges her a bit, "Have you fed?"

"I don't remember, I think so," mumbled Caroline as it was the truth. Time has been so blurry, is been nothing but a suffocating loop that she is having hard time to tell what day it is. She knows the scolding look Bonnie has, "I know. I know."

Bonnie stopped as she turned to her friend. Bonnie grabs her hand, "I'm not trying to lecture you or make you feel bad about yourself, it's just I care for you and want you to be at your best."

Caroline nods in understanding. Bonnie smiles as she nudges her bit, "Come on you look so gorgeous, pretty sure a certain hybrid won't be able to keep his eyes off of you."

Caroline rolled her eyes at her teasing but she felt the slight rosy blush hit her ivory skin. The two girls continued to walk further down the street doing small talk. Mostly Bonnie as she was trying to calm her friends' nerves down.

Caroline sighs as they walk further down the driveway about to knock when Caroline stops her to take a breath. Caroline nodded at her as Bonnie knocked on the door, which was quickly opened by Elijah who gave them a polite smile, "Evening Miss Bennett and Miss Forbes, please come in."

The two girls gave him a polite smile back as they entered the home, waiting for Elijah who led them into the dining room where all the mystic gang was sitting on one side and the other three mikaelsons on the other. The two girls nodded at all of them in acknowledgement.

Bonnie gently sat down next to Stefan as Caroline sat next her, at the end. She found a sense of comfort of being at the end— if she felt discomfort she could always flash out of there. She felt a gaze on her, as her eyes met Klaus who was gazing at her with certain fondness?

She could not exactly pinpoint it but she gave him a gentle wave, which he smiled at her in amusement. Caroline blushed at how stupid that was but she felt her phone buzz as she bent down and it took out, as she placed between her boots.

She felt a certain gaze as looked up to see Bonnie and Stefan with an amused expression on them. Caroline pouted, "I didn't feel like carrying a bag."

Bonnie nodded in agreement as she had her phone hidden in her dress as well. Stefan shook his head with a fond smile as he really has not been a good friend lately. He sighs knowing he has to protect them both, as they deserve nothing but happiness.

Caroline opened her phone as it was a text message from Ali. Caroline furrowed her brows, as they normally call each other. She swiped open the text message, Hello this is Marie, Ali's daughter. He was admitted to the hospital and would like to speak to you as soon as you can!

Caroline felt a certain sorrowness hit her. She felt tears prinkled but would not let them come out. Caroline cleared her throat as she faced Mikaelson, "May I use your restroom?"

Everyone glanced at the blonde vampire which almost made her cringe but she didn't. Rebekah pointed ahead, "Go straight, turn right and it should be on your left."

Caroline mumbled out a thank you, as she followed the blonde original directions. She went to the bathroom, closed the door and dialed Ali's numbers, as a soft voice that she did not recognize had answered, "Hello, Caroline?"

Caroline nodded, stupidly out of nerves as they could not see her, "Yes. Is he okay?"

The girl did not answer as she heard a familiar voice in the background, "Is that Caroline? Let me talk to the kid."

Caroline could hear shuffles as she heard a heavy breathing on the phone, "Hey kid!"

Caroline chuckled as she wiped out a tear out her face as it fell gently down her lids, even though she tried to hold them in. Her voice broke, "You okay? Why are you at the hospital?"

Ali from the other line chuckled at her ramble, "I'm fine but I was wondering if you can come visit me soon?"

Caroline furrowed her brows knowing he was not telling her something, "I will leave tomorrow morning, Ali."

"Okay calm down kid, there is no rush," he chuckled out, missing her perkiness. Ali cleared his throat, "Now, I know about time zones, so have a good evening kid."

"Bye Ali," mumbled Caroline, feeling something was off with him. But she shook her head, refusing to think anything negative about it. She sighs heading back as she sat down, giving Bonnie a small smile who had worry in her eyes.

Bonnie gave her a pointed look but she saw Caroline rolled her eyes so she knew her friend was okay, to say the least. Caroline from her side view noticed Damon and Elena being all chatty then Stefan who looked uncomfortable.

Caroline lightly nudges Bonnie as she gazes between the three and Bonnie learns onto Caroline, "We missed a couple episodes."

"More like seasons," teased Caroline. The two girls gave each other a high five as they were all quiet down. Glancing at Elijah who stood up, "We propose a peace offering."
