Merasmus flipped through his spell books, the ones that he had to struggle to acquire. He teleported to 5 wrong universes on his way to his castle, and, unfortunately, he got caught in some misunderstandings and fights.
"Son of a…" He patted out the fire that had caught onto his robe. "Aha! Here we are…" Merasmus turned to Dharkon and said some magic words. A white flash surrounded the room. Dharkon and Merasmus stared at each other.
"Was something supposed to happen?" said a distant voice. Both of them paused and looked around. "Looks like the telepathy spell worked. Thank you."
"Well, anyway, about what I was planning," Dharkon continued. "Since you can travel through dimensions, why don't we try getting allies from other universes?"
Merasums put his hand to his chin. "I haven't thought about that." He paused. "It's a good idea, but we won't be able to control what universes we travel to though."
Dharkon waved him off. "That shouldn't be a problem, as long as we're able to get back here."
"...you can get back here without taking too many detours, right?" Merasmus nodded.
"Maybe with a little difficulty, but I can make it back here."
Dharkon thought for a little bit. "Maybe you should try getting the hang of your spell before we try getting allies." Merasmus agreed, and he spent some time working on his spell. After a few hours, he could consistently travel between a random universe and back to their hideout.
"Alright, shall we?" Merasums nervously scratched the back of his neck. "Yes, about that… I was thinking that I'd be the one traveling."
Dharkon gave him a quizzical look. "And…what makes you think that?"
"Well, maybe people would be freaked out by a giant eye with tendrils trying to become allies at first glance." Merasums reasoned.
"...even if you do convince them to become allies with us, they'll still actually have to work with me."
Merasmus shrugged. "First impressions are important, you know…" Dharkon stared at him for a moment. He finally conceded after giving it some thought.
"Fair enough," he sighed. "Go on ahead." Merasmus nodded and casted his dimension teleport spell once again.
Turnback Cave
Merasmus landed as he appeared. He looked around to see a gigantic gray dragon floating above the ground. Black and red stripes went along the underside of its belly. It also had some golden spikes covering its neck and sticking out of his tail and sides. Finally, it had a crown-like object covering its head made of the same material of the spikes.
Merasmus was immediately intimidated by its presence, but he found the courage to try to communicate with it.
"Um, hello there!" He exclaimed. "I don't know if you can understand me, but-"
"Giygogagohgwooh!" It let out a roar, and quickly moved backwards.
Play: Battle! Giratina - Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Giratina wants to battle!
Merasmus was shocked at first, but he got over it quickly and pulled out his wooden staff.
Giratina used Earth Power!
Steam erupted from the ground beneath Merasmus, forcing him to stumble out of the way. Right after he did, the ground exploded up on the place he was standing, sending sparks everywhere and leaving a crumbled rock formation standing up.
While Merasmus tried to regain his balance, Giratina rushed towards the wizard.
Giratina used Dragon Claw!
The dragon pulled back and swiped at Merasmus, tearing through the cloth of his robe and doing a bit of damage to him, making him wince. He tried swinging his staff at him and backed off, but to his surprise, it seemed to have no effect. Giratina, seeing him make some distance, opted for a move with longer distance.
Giratina used Dragon Pulse!
It opened its mouth to charge up energy and it prepared to use it. Merasmus saw it and tried to fly out of the way in time. Giratina shot out a shock wave at blinding speeds. It was so fast, that even though Merasmus tried to get out of the way, he still got hit by the beam.
Merasmus forcefully hit the cave wall behind him, groaning in pain. He slowly got up and brushed off the debris off his robe. He gripped his staff and cast one of his spells towards Giratina.
"Firestorm!" he chanted. He launched Giratina towards the ceiling while burning it in the process, doing extra damage from the impact of crashing into the top of the cave. It fell towards the ground, catching itself before landing. Fighting through its burn, it vanished into thin air.
Giratina used Shadow Force!
Merasmus gasped and frantically looked around. He turned his back on where Giratina was, and right as he did, Giratina appeared out of nowhere and slammed him with his tail. He got knocked into the cave wall once again, and at that point, he decided it was time to retreat.
He appeared back in the hideout and Dharkon immediately turned around to see him.
"What happened?" Dharkon asked. Merasmus described what he saw in Turnback Cave, things like appearance and how it attacked. "Hmmm, that sounds like you ran into a Giratina." He paused. "That's actually pretty lucky, do you think you'll be able to go back to that universe again?"
"I can… but I'm not so sure that will be a good idea." Merasmus said. "I don't think we'll be able to convince it to join us. I'm not even sure it speaks English… or any language really.
"You don't have to convince it. It's a Pokémon, and they become your allies if you catch them." Merasmus was confused. "Er. catch them?"
"Yeah, that's how Pokémon trainers get their Pokémon. They catch them and they care for them and feed them and whatnot. But they also use them to fight other Pokémon."
"...that seems very cruel."
"Well, apparently it strengthens the bond between Pokémon and its trainer, but I digress. All we have to do is catch the Giratina and then we'll become allies."
"Alright, but how are we going to catch this thing?" Merasmus asked.
"There's these things called Poké Balls, and they're designed to catch and keep Pokémon in small places. However, we don't have any of those, unfortunately." Dharkon paused to think once again. "-but you know who does…"
Later:
'Stupid floating eye and his stupid ideas…' Merasmus said, currently disguised as a chair. The plan was to steal some Poké Balls from either trainer. (preferably whichever he could find first) He has been sliding around the entire mansion with his stupid disguise looking for their rooms, constantly starting and stopping every time someone was nearby. He finally found Red's room after checking every other door in the mansion. (he was going off of Dharkon's description and he saw Red's stock icon was painted on the door.)
Merasmus tried to painstakingly open the door while still disguised, failing miserably for a couple minutes before finally giving up and just getting out of his disguise and opening the door.
He walked in, closed the door behind him and scrimmaged around. The only Poké Balls he could find were black with yellow H's painted on the top half. They also had domes at the top with holes drilled into them.
He was just about to leave until the door started to open. Merasmus panicked as he turned back into a chair and got up against the wall. Red walked in with Leaf, the other Pokémon Trainer living at the mansion. Merasmus was hoping that they would only grab a few things and leave…
Hours Later:
Merasmus was very wrong. So, so very wrong.
He must've been in there for what felt like weeks, and it didn't help that Red was only nodding and shaking his head in response to Leaf talking to him… and maybe occasionally saying "yes" or "no". Whether he was choosing not to talk much or he was just being shy, Merasmus couldn't tell, but it was making it unbearable for him to sit through. He was about to fall asleep, until Leaf suddenly ran out of Red's room giggling, leaving him with his face as red as his name would suggest. He quickly followed her out.
Merasmus deeply sighed, but he turned his body and accidentally hit the table he was standing right next to, knocking over Red's crafting kit, making Merasmus silently gasp. Red popped his head back into the room, looking for what made the noise. Merasmus would've clenched his hands as hard as he could've, if he wasn't disguised as a chair, as he stood as still as a statue. Red looked around for a few seconds before catching up to Leaf after she called out to him. Merasmus didn't even want to sigh in relief this time. He slowly slid back into the hallway before sliding back to the hideaway.
"What's this chair doing here?"
…but not before almost blowing his cover multiple times on his way back.
"What took you so long?" Dharkon asked Merasmus as he arrived at the entrance.
Merasmus groaned. "That boy wouldn't leave his room, he was in there with another child. I can't believe you made me suffer through all that waiting."
Dharkon lazily blinked at him. "Well, you had me wait for you to get the hang of your teleport spell, and I'm not even traveling with you through other universes." Merasmus frowned at him.
"Anyway, let's see what you got." Merasmus showed him the Poké Balls that he took from Red. "Twenty Ultra Balls. They do look a bit old-fashioned, but I think they'll suffice. Also, I was looking through your spell book, and you should definitely use your lightning spell. It can slow down the Giratina, making it easier to catch."
Merasmus nodded and teleported back to the Hisui region.
Once again, he arrived in Turnback Cave and saw Giratina immediately. However, this time, instead of red stripes on the underside of its belly, they were light blue, its body was now a light cream color, and its golden spikes were now platinum.
Merasmus didn't pay its change in appearance any mind as he started with his monologue he usually has prepared for the mercenaries.
He laughed maniacally. "Merasmus has come!.. for your alliance," He awkwardly stood there for a little bit. "So… can I-"
"Giygogagohgwooh!" Giratina cried out. It moved back and forth, creating and surrounding itself with purple energy.
Giratina used Dragon Dance!
Merasmus could tell that Giratina got a little bit faster from using that move, so he decided to attack and weaken it quickly before it got too fast. He pulled out his staff and prepared to cast a spell.
"Pactum Diabolus!" He shouted as he casted a bomb towards Giratina from his staff. It hit the ground right in front of it and created a ring of pumpkin bombs all around it. He detonated the bombs, making Giratina flinch from the explosion. It quickly rebounded though and used Dragon Dance once more, increasing its attack and speed even more.
Merasmus started to sweat as he raised his hand to cast another spell, taking Dharkon's advice with this one.
He chanted, "Imputum Fulmenus!" as a Ball o' Lightning generated from his hand, hitting Giratina straight on multiple times and pulling it in closer to the lightning. It vanished, leaving Giratina with a paralysis status, drastically slowing it down. Despite this, Giratina broke through the paralysis and charged towards Merasmus.
Giratina used Dragon Claw!
It slashed Merasmus' chest with its side-spikes, pushing him far back, making him clench his teeth in pain. He touched his chest to see that the wound had cut much deeper than when Giratina used Dragon Claw before. Taking out his Poké Balls, he decided to catch Giratina now.
He tossed an Ultra Ball in his hand, until throwing a fastball, which he learned from 6 years of observing Scout, while fighting him, right at Giratina. It spun sideways as it glided through the air, hitting Giratina right in the head with the button. To Merasmus' surprise, Giratina shrunk down and got stored inside of the ball. It jumped up, once, twice, until…
It broke out. Merasmus' eyes widened and jumped back. Giratina immediately started to set up more attack and speed boosts using Dragon Dance as soon as it broke free. Merasmus finally noticed that Giratina was getting stronger every time it used Dragon Dance, which made him realize once he gets hit by another good blow, he would probably get knocked out, or at least, very wounded.
He quickly tossed another ball at Giratina, but it broke out once again after jumping once. Giratina continued to raise its stats as Merasmus kept failing to capture it. After it reached its maximum amount of boosts, it floated back after breaking out of another ball.
Seeing how fast Giratina had gotten over the course of three turns, Merasmus tiredly blinked as he accepted his fate. He rubbed his forehead, covering his eyes as Giratina rushed forward, building momentum for…
…it to get fully stopped by its paralysis right then and there. Merasmus pulled his hand away to see electricity crackle around Giratina as it stayed suspended in the air. Just about to give up hope, he dropped his shoulders as he pulled out one more Ultra Ball.
He lazily threw it with a little curve, another throw he learned from Scout. Despite how nonchalantly he threw the ball, it still hit Giratina straight on the middle of its body. It got stored in the Ultra Ball once again, as it dropped to the ground. It jumped up once, twice, three times, until finally, a firework shot out of the top of the ball, signifying a catch.
Merasmus blinked in surprise. He slowly walked forward to pick up the ball of the newly captured Giratina. He slowly turned it in his hand as he let out a little chuckle. His small chuckles slowly turned into another maniacal laugh, this one much louder than the first, cackling for the entire region to hear. He teleported back to the hideout after he calmed down.
"Wow, you caught a shiny Giratina, and it knows Dragon Dance?" Dharkon said. "This Pokémon will be very helpful to us when we take those fighters down." He paused. "Um, I hope this has no major repercussions on the universe we just took Giratina from."
Sinnoh, 2000 years later:
"HERE IS THE WRATH OF DIALGA AND PALKIA!" Cyrus roared. "FEEL YOUR SPIRIT BEING RIPPED AWAY FROM YOU AND YOUR POKÉMON!"
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!"
With no Giratina to stop Cyrus, he's free to do whatever he wants in Sinnoh.
Hope you guys enjoyed reading this,
See ya.
