Hello there!

Welcome to next Issue of Spider-Verse I: When I Swing By.

Hope you'll enjoy and now to story time.

Inside an alley during when the night, where a woman was being held up for her purse. A gun was slammed against her head, making her let go, while two others blocked off the only two exits from the alley. But as quick as lightning, a streak of silver shot trough the night sky.

It stuck to the cold metal before being yanked out of the robber's hand. He turned around just in time to find a red glove coming down on his face, knocking him out cold on the stone floor.

With another shot from his web, the second one was pulled up before he was thrown out of the alley way and into a lantern pole.

The last one attempted to flee, who had retrieved the purse from the ground, but he soon found both his feet strangled up in silver webbing. His feet were pulled out from under him, knocking him to the floor before he was pinned down by even more webbing.

Spider-Man picked up the purse, before walking to the woman. "I believe this is yours." he said handing it back to her, "You okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." the woman said as she got shakily back to her feet.

"Alright, stay away dark alleyways at night next time, okay?" Spider-Man said, before shooting a web and swinging off.

As he rushed along the buildings, going web from web. Which still felt like the greatest feeling in the world. But just as he was enjoying himself, a commotion in the distance caught his attention.

He swung over to the Williamsburg Bridge, where it was complete chaos. Cars were smashed into each other as civilians where fleeing from something. Something very big, something very green, and something reptilian.

A massive hulking humanoid lizard that would tower over Spider-Man himself, picked up a car with it's sharp claws before throwing it over the side of the bridge, the only thing that stopped it from crashing down into the water was a quick shot of web connecting it to the underside of the bridge.

The Lizard turned around only to have a pair of red covered feet planted against its jaw.

"Damn your ugly." Spider-Man said landing on top of a car.

Ripping off a car door, the Lizard threw it at Spider-Man, who evaded over it with a front flip before shooting a web and swinging into the Lizard, knocking him into the air and much further away across the bridge before being webbed up against the building.

Spider-Man stuck to the wall close to the Lizard, who ripped its head out of the webbing and roaring into his face.

"That smell!" Spider-Man said, backflipping as the Lizard broke free completely, "Don't you brush your teeth!?"

Launching himself at Spider-Man, who attempted to evade but the Lizard managed to catch him and pin him into the concrete road. Using both of his legs, Spider-Man kicked the Lizard up and back towards a wall. He landed on the side and giving Spider-Man one last look, he began to crawl away across the bridge wall.

"Hey! Wallcrawling is my thing!" Spider-Man shouted as he jumped onto the wall, "Spin a web and I'll sue!", he was preparing to shoot a web to go after the giant reptile, but before he could a voice reached his ears.

"Somebody help! Help me! My kid is trapped."

It was a father, standing on the side of the bridge looking at one of the cars Spider-Man had saved by sticking it to the underside.

Looking from the father to the direction The Lizard had gone in. Spider-Man turned away before doing a big leap and throwing himself off the side of the bridge. Shooting a web and landing on the rear of the car.

With his strength, he easily ripped off the trunk door, where it fell into the water, and indeed he saw a young girl, no older than four, wearing her seatbelt in the backseat, shouting for help.

"Hey, buddy!" Spider-Man said over her cries and the kid turned to him, looking frightened, "It's okay, it's going to be okay. What's your name?"

"Kamala." she said frightened.

"Nice to meet you, Kamala. I'm Spider-Man." he said, gesturing to himself before he began to crawl into the car, "I'm going to get you out of here. Just stay still, alright?"

A few moments later, Spider-Man crawled back on the bridge, handing Kamala over to her father who immediately hugged her in his arms. Upon seeing the moment in front of him, the man behind the mask felt that this feeling even surpassed the one he felt when he swung around for the first time.

"Who are you?" the father asked.

"Spider-Man." he said before jumping up and swinging away, knowing he made the right call.

The following day in school, an exhausted but smiling Aiden was sitting next to Peter at Chemistry, happy to have at least one class with each other, as Peter and Gwen where needed for an project at Arclight later that day. The duo of friends were talking about the events from last night before class started.

"Seriously?" Peter said having read he news in the morning but he still couldn't believe it, "A giant Lizard."

"Yes, a giant Lizard. Big, scaly, lots of teeth." Aiden said, leaning on the table, "Horrible breath."

"That sounds so cool." he said, "But you know nothing else about him?"

"Oh yeah, we had a long talk." Aiden said with a roll of his eyes, "I know his name, address, where he keeps his diary."

"Okay, okay. No need to be sassy." Peter said before he remembered something, "You know, I read this article a few weeks back. About a scientist, Curtis Conners, pretty famous for his studies on reptiles. He has a lab in Brooklyn. Maybe he can be of help?"

"Could be worth a visit." Aiden agreed with his friend just as Gwen comes walking to them, her phone in hand.

"Dude!" Gwen said, showing her phone where an article from the Daily Bugle named 'Spider-Man fights the Terrifying Lizard On the Washington Bridge', below it was a blurry picture of Spider-Man fighting the Lizard, "Have you see this? Giant lizards!"

"Yeah, I've seen..." Aiden began.

"Giant! Fucking!" Gwen said holding her hands up, "Lizards!"

Later that afternoon during his Free Track, Spider-Man landed on a roof of a warehouse in Brooklyn that was used as a lab by the Oscorp sponsored scientist Curtis Connors. Peeking in through a window, which luckily was open he crawled inside, sticking to the ceiling as he saw documents and equipment thrown around the place.

"Either someone robbed the place." Spider-Man quipped, touching down on the ground, "Or there was a wild party."

Studying over the scene, he noticed large scratches across the floor and on the walls. Something that couldn't be made with normal human nails. Walking over to a computer screen, which seemed mostly undamaged, Spider-Man looked through the files to find it luckily unlocked.

Scrolling until he found a folder containing video's on the research preformed by the good doctor. From the date the files where ordered on, it seemed Connors has been working on transspecies nearly his entire life.

Spider-Man double clicked on the most recent one, which just so happens to be dated to yesterday, and a video of a blonde man with one arm started to play.

"I spent my life as a scientist trying to create a world without weakness, without outcasts. I sought to create a stronger human being... We can be so much more. Faster. Stronger. Smarter."

The man on the video picked up an injector from the table, showing it off clearly to the camera. "This is my gift to you." he said before he jammed in the stump of an right arm, injecting himself with the green fluid.

A few second of silence followed before Connors let out a scream of pain, knocking papers off the table and dropping the injector to the ground. The doctor fell to the floor and out of sight.

A full minute passed in the video before Connors pulled himself upwards, but this time he had both arms.

Letting out a triumphed laugh, the doctor showed his new arm to the camera. But the moment didn't last long as he let out screams of pain. He slammed on the desk as he began to change. He began to grow in height and muscle. Thick green scaled began to cover him.

With another scream, a massive claw knocked the camera over ending the video.

"Dr. Connors..." Spider-Man said, looking around the room, "I need to find a way to save him."

Combing through the mess made by the Lizard, Spider-Man found the injector, which had rolled under a table during the commotion. A few drips of the formula was still inside. Downloading everything Connors had on his Lizard Formula to his phone, Spider-Man left through the window before he would work on a cure.

"Fuck, I could use Peter or Gwen right now." Aiden said as he was studying the serum and reading through the files sitting in the Science Lab at school.

He couldn't seem to make a cure for Connors, as the few tests he preformed proved that the Lizard Gene was mutating too quickly, so his cure was unusable. He began looking through the books about bioscience Peter had lend to him, pondering for solutions. He was so deep in thought, he was just reading the foreword written by Dr. Banner that he didn't notice someone had come over and now stood next to him.

"Hey... Aiden." a soft voice said.

He nearly dropped out of his seat, and the book would have been thrown over the table if it wasn't for his sticky fingers, when he heard his name. Turning to his side, he saw that it was Cindy Moon, shyly rubbing the side of her arm.

"Oh, hey." he said, putting the book down on the table, "Shouldn't you be in class?"

"Free track." Cindy said before looking at his screen, "W-what are you working on? Something for your dad's company?"

"Yeah, something like that." Aiden said, leaning back with his arms crossed, "I've been trying to crack this genetic code, but I'm not making any progress... It's well... It mutates too fast."

"How about... Y-you know when I try to solve a maze puzzle, having to connect one side with a limited amount of line pieces... I sometimes start from the end and work my way from there." Cindy said bashfully looking away, "I-I know it must sound silly."

Aiden suddenly got a spark of inspiration upon hearing her words. Instead of trying to stabilize the Lizard serum, he was making a Human Serum. One that would purge any tinkering to DNA.

"Actually... It does not." Aiden said as he began to work on what he would call a Gene Cleanser, "Thanks for the advice, Cindy. I owe you one."

"W-what!? N-No i-it's fine!" Cindy said surprised, her cheeks becoming red, "Really."

"Of course it's not." Aiden said as he began to synthesize the cure.

"W-Well if you insist." Cindy muttered, with a small smile, "I-I could go for an ice cream."

Walking through the halls of Midtown High, Aiden had the Gene Cleanser put in his backpack. With those thick scales covering the Lizard, the injector wouldn't be able to pierce his skin. So when he would fight him again, Aiden would have no choice but to force it down his throat. Which would mean getting close to those sharp teeth.

Cindy was a bit more timid than usual, but she still seemed happy for some reason.

As they were talking about which ice cream store to go to, Aiden suddenly stopped when he felt the sensation in the back of his head. He turned in the direction it was directing him to just as a loud crashing sound erupted from a bathroom up ahead.

"What was that?" Cindy said surprised.

"No idea..." Aiden said shaking his head, grabbing Cindy's hand, "But let's not wait to find out." with his strength it was easy to dragged her with him. The crashing and smashing coming from the bathroom grew louder and louder, until suddenly a familiar reptile comes crashing through the walls.

The Lizard roared as it stood on hind legs. Flicking his head towards Aiden and Cindy, he hissed aggressively, opening its jaw making saliva spill from his mouth.

He dragged Cindy with him, running away as the Lizard clawed his way onto the ground and followed after the two. Aiden figured the Lizard must be after him, maybe it was his reptile brain trying to reclaim it's spot on the top of the food chain.

Pushing Cindy through an open door into a classroom, she watched the Lizard ran by, who was dead set on the boy who owes her an ice cream.

Aiden ran outside of Queens, jumping inside an alleyway and crawling up a roof of a empty building. With the few seconds that had won him, he threw his clothes off and changed into his Spider suit. Taking the Cleanser and putting it in the compartment where he would place his phone, Spider-Man was ready to fight the Lizard and save Dr. Connors.

He didn't need to wait long as the Lizard comes crawling up the wall and lunges at him. Sliding under the massive amount of muscle making the Lizard crash into a wall, making bricks fall on him.

The Lizard recovered only to be met with a fist, getting hit hard enough that the roof gave away and sending the two falling down into a empty boxing ring. Reacting quickly, Spider-Man broke his fall by shooting a web and using it to land and stick against the wall.

Jumping off, Spider-Man evaded another lunge from the Lizard only to be wrapped up in its tail and smacked against the ground hard.

Before he could recover, the Lizard landed on top of him, gripping his masked head with its claw. Standing up to his full height while lifted Spider-Man off, the Lizard was about to chomp down on Spider-Man's head if not for a quick blast of web covering his face.

Punching the Lizard again, Spider-Man flipped over using the momentum to kick the Lizard back. Using his web again, he pulled a piece off wood that had broken off the roof.

As the Lizard lunged at him again, Spider-Man timed it just right so the piece of wood was vertical, keeping the mouth of the Lizard from closing it. This time he lunged at Lizard and pinned him to the ground. The Lizard struggled to get him off, but Spider-Man managed to keep in down as he took out the Gene Cleanser.

"Got a present for you, Doc." Spider-Man said before poring the contents straight into the Lizards throat, "Gene Cleanser, guaranteed to removed even the toughest stains!"

But the Lizard managed to knock him off sending him crashing into a wall where dust and debris covered Spider-Man.

The Lizard stood up to his full height, turning up his head as he unleashed a continues roar. Slowly but surely, the roar turned into human screams of pain as the hulking monster began to shrink, the scales vanishing from his skin and his tail and arm falling off.

Laying there in tattered clothes wasn't the Lizard anymore, now he was just a middle aged man with the name Curtis Connors.

"God, I hope I didn't kill him." Spider-Man muttered as he picked himself up.

Walking over he saw that the good doctor was breathing slowly before opening his eyes. He sat up looking at his hand as he was confused.

"You okay Doc?" Spider-Man said.

"Y-Your that Spider-Man." he said as he was helped to his feet by the costumed hero, "Your real?"

"I'm real when it's useful." Spider-Man said, "What happened? I went to your lab and..."

"I have been developing a serum to regrow limbs. It's been my dream since I lost my arm..." Dr. Connors said, "Oscorp has been funding my research, but they wanted results as quickly as possible. They thought it was at a stage for human testing... I couldn't let that happen, it wasn't ready."

"So you decided to test it on yourself?" Spider-Man said dryly, "That's up there with worst idea's I have ever heard."

Connors gave a defeated look, seemingly agreeing with the statement made by the masked hero. "Come on Doc, let's get you home." Spider-Man said.

"The one day we're not here, a giant lizard attacks." Gwen complained the following morning as she walked with Peter to class.

"What is it with you and giant lizards?" Peter said said amused.

"Well two times a certain masked hero has shown up to fight him." Gwen said disappointed, "Thought we might be able to catch a glimpse of him."

"Gwen Stacy." Peter said with a chuckle as he gave her a side glance, "Do you have a crush on Spider-Man?"

"A guy with six arms?" Gwen said with a laugh of her own as they entered the classroom, "Sounds pretty hot."

Aiden sat with Cindy Moon, each having a bucket of ice cream. The usual timid girl was laughing along with him as the two ate and talked.

"...I mean, the school gets wracked by a giant lizard and we still have to go to school." Aiden said pointing with his plastic spoon, "Now that's the messed up part."

"I know." Cindy said with a giggle, "Oh, Aiden. You got some on your mouth. Let me..."

"Morning." Gwen interrupted as she and Peter walked up, "Isn't it a little early for ice cream?"

"It's five somewhere in the world." Aiden said, eating another spoon with ice cream.
