Fecto Elfilis managed to calm themselves completely by now. They followed her along the pavement and stopped by the front porch leading into the cafe. Along the way, they noticed they sometimes started to walk sideways on the ground. When Vesa glanced in a different direction, the cafe suddenly appeared on the other side of the lot. A nearby car got replaced by a large toy version of a car.

"Here, let me help," Elfilis offered, "most of this isn't something I can help with, a lot of this needs to be done on your own."

Vesa watched as Elfilis readjusted their surroundings back into order, making gravity work and correcting the oddities in her headspace. She gazed ahead of her and placed her hand on the door leading into the cafe.

"Thank you," Vesa smiled.

"You're welcome," Elfilis nodded, "I'm not sure how accurate this will be. You might want to keep me informed."

Vesa led Elfilis inside the cafe. She took note of the oblong counter at the back of the cafe where the baristas were making the customers' orders. Oddly enough, she noticed one barista had cat ears and a cat tail. When Elfilis also noticed such an oddity, it made them think of Vesa with similar appendages. The ultimate life-form immediately blushed at such a thought. What a strange thing to think about.

For a moment, Vesa's mind wandered and imagined herself ordering the cafe's famous Lover's Cake. She blushed at the thought of letting Elfilis take a bite out of the delicacy.

Elfilis noticed that thought of hers manifested for a few moments. Still, the ultimate life-form focused on the catgirl barista, fascinated at the idea of mixing the DNA of two different species. No doubt, a human with cat ears would have enhanced hearing and balance due to their new traits alongside human intelligence. Elfilis snapped out of their thoughts when Vesa grabbed their paw.

"Hey," she asked, "want to see what they have on the menu? I'm sure you'll find something you like."

"Oh, I suppose we can," Elfilis nodded, "anything we eat here will likely not have much taste though, given its nature as a dream. It's still limited in what it can do for most of our senses other than sight. I could change that if I was in my normal form. I could make this dream realistic enough that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and reality. I do hope to go back to normal soon. My thoughts feel so slow still, my body so weak. I feel like I'm letting you down by not being powerful enough to help."

"That's all right," Vesa assured them, "maybe don't push yourself too hard, ok?"

"I don't know if I can," Elfilis said sadly, "any kind of use of my powers is difficult at this point for me."

Vesa sighed and placed her hand on their head. Elfilis calmed down a little, so they both approached the counter. They took a moment to read the menu on the blackboard plastered on the wall. The catgirl barista perked up her cat ears and approached the two.

"Good morning, Miss Krasniki," the barista greeted, "would you and your friend here like anything to order?"

Vesa took a moment to think.

"I'd like a banana nut muffin and a mocha," Vesa requested, "would you like anything, Elfilis?"

"I don't have a preference, really," Elfilis admitted.

Vesa simply shrugged.

"I suppose I'd like to get my friend a pumpkin spice latte and a piece of coffee cake," Vesa added.

"Of course, ma'am," the barista nodded.

"Perhaps one day," Elfilis mused, with a hint of hope in their voice, "we could try these things together in the physical world."

"Yeah," Vesa agreed, "I'd love that."

Vesa took a moment to pull out her wallet and hand some cash to the barista. Elfilis eyed the wallet in her hand with such curiosity.

"Is it some kind of currency?" they asked her.

"Of course," Vesa clarified.

"I see, such a concept isn't an unfamiliar one," Elfilis elaborated, "my father's race did away with currency. Instead, they just started trading magical artifacts and technology since it was easier that way. The creation of wonders was in their blood. They would also trade inspiration, ideas, patents, and other things like that. Really, it was a good system."

Vesa stashed away her wallet. The barista returned with their orders minutes later.

"Here you go, Miss Krasniki," the barista smiled, "one mocha, one banana nut muffin, one pumpkin spice latte and one coffee cake."

"Thank you, ma'am!" Vesa chirped.

Vesa and Elfilis picked up their orders and settled at a table next to the window overlooking the patio. Sitting across from one another, they started drinking their beverages. Considering the nature of her headspace, there was barely any taste of the beverages.

"I suppose it's not bad," Elfilis shrugged.

When they gave their own pastries a bite, not much hint of a taste could be noticed. That didn't matter to Elfilis. All that mattered was relishing the time they were spending with their close friend. Once they finished, Vesa led Elfilis out of the cafe. Setting foot out the door, they suddenly found themselves at the gate leading to Berovnik Park. Much to Elfilis's surprise, Vesa's clothes changed. Now she wore a short-sleeved knee-length dress with a sash belt and a bucket hat.

"Oh," Vesa blurted, "could this be the annual Elfin Blessings?"

Elfilis tilted their head sideways. Vesa noticed she was carrying incense in her hands.

"Each year," Vesa continued, holding out the incense, "one of us is selected to make an offering to the small shrine at the edge of the lake, overseeing the Dew Garden. Maybe after I show you how we carry out this tradition, you can show me what you still remember about your past?"

"Of course," Elfilis nodded, their tail swaying with excitement, "my memory is perfect, so there is no risk of me forgetting any of it. It'll be just as it was when I experienced it. The sensations will likely be stronger than in your own memories as well. Although still not perfect, my power isn't enough to make it perfect as I am now."

Upon cue, Vesa led Elfilis through the forest path. When they emerged from the forest, they could see the lake beyond a gorgeous garden, assorted with plenty of different plants Elfilis didn't recognize, but would love to record into their DNA later on. At the edge of the lake, a small hill was decorated with a short circular pedestal in front of a statue. Meandering through the pavement, they climbed the hill and stopped at the statue. Vesa set down the incense onto the circular pedestal. She struck up a match and ignited the contents inside the incense. Taking a deep breath, she clasped her heads together and bowed her head.

"May the Dew Blossoms flourish in your light," Vesa said.

Elfilis couldn't do much apart from standing by. After a minute, Vesa opened her eyes and turned to face the ultimate life-form.

"That should wrap it up," Vesa said, "I'm ready."

"Of course," Elfilis nodded, "allow me to do the honors."

Elfilis waved their paw through the air, everything around them shifting and twisting. Before long, Vesa found herself in what amounted to a medieval castle, kind of what she imagined a wizard tower looked like. Plenty of shelves of books lined the wall and several books floated off the shelves, hovering to different shelves almost as if they were sorting themselves. She noticed a smaller version of Elfilis floating around the room, their small antlers resembling stubs. This smaller version happily circled around a cloaked figure. All she could make out were a pair of yellow eyes under his hood, so he seemed content.

"Oh?" she blurted.

Vesa approached one of the bookshelves and tried examining one of the titles on a book's spine. She couldn't recognize the foreign language yet it still seemed to make sense. One title stood out to her as "The Power of Wishes and Dreams: a Guide to Controlling the Immaterial". Elfilis stood next to their father. They knew he wouldn't notice them despite them wishing so. It probably wasn't worth it for them to force their subconscious to change their memory. Not surprisingly, the sorcerer didn't seem to take notice of Vesa either, currently playing with Elfilis's smaller self, their small body happily chittering and floating around him.

"So that's what he's like," she commented.

"Yes, he's really kind," Elfilis agreed, "there are other parts of my past I can also show you, such as the…destruction of our planet. Or my past training. Different planets I have explored. My siblings. Is there anything you would like to see?"

Vesa turned to face Elfilis.

"What are your siblings like?" she asked them.

"They are all elemental mages who my father rescued at young ages," Elfilis explained, "all of them had tragic lives before Hyness adopted them into our family. I'm the only one who has any biological connection to our father through DNA."

"Then," Vesa requested, "perhaps you can elaborate?"

"My eldest sister is Zan, she wields lightning magic and is a bit aggressive and loud. She's rather honorable, though. However, she isn't really a people person, or even a person that people tend to like at first given her personality. My other sister, Flamberge, is a fire mage and a sword fighter. She's also expressive and loud. She's easily angered, but loves to train and get into fights. She's quite protective of us, though. My last sister is Francisca, she is the youngest of my other siblings although I'm still younger than them by about 2 years. She uses ice magic and water magic, and she's probably the most cold blooded of them. I love them all dearly, though they do have some…emotional issues to work on. They're all quite friendly when they aren't fighting you and I hope to see them again."

Elfilis manipulated their surroundings again and they ended up in a large open dirt area. Vesa spotted Zan and Flamberge in a sparring session. Much to her surprise, the first thing she noticed was that they had similar traits to her own species. Vesa scanned her surroundings until her eyes found Fransisca, sitting on the sidelines and reading a book as Elfilis's smaller self sat on her head. They seemed to be reading along with her. A large axe seemingly made of ice embedded in the ground next to her. All the while, Zan made stabs at Flamberge with a large spear, which seemed to have caught Elfilis's smaller self's interest.

"So what was your training like?" Vesa asked.

Elfilis blinked twice.

"My training was a little intense," Elfilis answered.

Elfilis allowed the world around them to twist again. They and Vesa ended up in a new memory. Ahead of them, another of Elfilis's self, now fully grown and wielding an ornate spear. Elfilis seemed to be sparring with two of their sisters at once this time, with neither of them able to get the upper hand as Elfilis plunged their spear through the portal they made, poking at the sisters. Flamberge dived into one of the portals and tried to get the jump on Elfilis, but they simply spun their spear and batted her away. Zan kept a vigilant eye. It seemed difficult to get one over their eldest sister but the younger self kept trying, slowly growing more accurate with their thrusts. Vesa glanced over her shoulder and noticed Hyness and Fransisca observing the session. Yet, Hyness appeared to be working on what appeared to be some kind of small heart-shaped crystal. She had yet to fathom what function it had.

Vesa returned her gaze to Elfilis's past self as they began spinning their spear in another twirl, this time summoning a dozen balls of energy which honed in on Zan. While she was busy batting them out of the air, Elfilis's past self teleported behind her and thrust at her with their spear. Vesa stood close to Elfilis as the sparring session continued on.

Without warning, Vesa could see the entire world around her distort.

"Ah!" Vesa exclaimed, "Elfilis, I…"

The sudden agonizing pain that ruptured in her body was enough to wake her up. She stole a glance at the clock on the dresser…reading 6:30 am.
