Chapter Twelve
After about half an hour, everyone made it topside, and they stood in an alleyway waiting to go into the city and enjoy themselves.
Once again Tyroth gathered everyone together to make sure they followed the rules topside, that they stuck together for the time being before going their separate ways to do what they wanted to do, and to keep their cell phones on as well as their trackers and where to meet later at certain times.
Once everyone was clear, including the children, the mutants instantly went out into the city to join in the fun.
Walking down the streets of centre Chicago, everyone could see that the citizens were enjoying the Halloween festivities.
There were large market stalls selling goods, including jewellery, antiques, food, and many other things.
There were games as well as Halloween themed entertainment and there was some music and bands as well as a small funfair with rides to suit children and adults.
Many of the shops in the streets had put up amazing Halloween Displays, a few had remained open late to sell their goods, some buildings had Halloween and Spooky exhibitions on, and the stalls that lined the roads were all lit up and colourful.
The Mutopians and their friends were amazed.
"This is so awesome!" Sonia commented.
"Yeah!" Loki agreed.
Pandora held Kemeko's hand as they walked, and they were already being observed by amazed humans at their appearance.
"Look mum!" cried one child dressed as a chipmunk who was holding onto her mother's hand, and she was dressed as a milkmaid "look at the leopard girl!"
"I think she's a cheetah dear." The mother corrected to which Pandora gave a thumbs up.
A few other kids pointed out the Mutopians and Ninja and on how real and fantastic their outfits were, and a group of four girls dressed as Princess Peach from Mario, Hermione from Harry Potter, Chun Li from Street Fighter, and Rapunzel from Tangled, saw Tyroth and gasped in amazement.
"Oh wow! A Dragon!" one shouted.
"Awesome!" the second one cried.
"What kind of Dragon is he supposed to be?" the third one asked "Like a Game of Thrones Dragon?"
"Dungeons and Dragons one I think!" the fourth one said.
"Either way! He looks awesome!"
Tyroth blushed and Sephie squeezed his arm as if showing the girls that the dragon they were admiring was hers!
After the girls walked on, three young men dressed as Batman, Superman and the Green Lantern saw Tyroth and began to question what kind of Dragon he was.
"I'd say he looks like Smaug from The Hobbit!" Batman commented.
"Or Fafnir!" Green Lantern suggested "The Norse Dragon, and the Inspiration for Smaug!"
"Either way! He looks badass! I'd love to be a Dragon next year!" Superman announced.
"You'd have to get working on it then!" Batman nudged his friend "That costume looks like it took months!"
After the three superhero men left, Michelangelo looked up at Tyroth.
"You're really drawing in attention Big T!"
"No, you think?" Tyroth laughed "Happens every year we go topside! I can't help but feel I'm drawing attention away from you lot!"
"Don't think about it Big guy!" Leonardo chuckled.
"Man, this is better than last year!" Freya laughed as she skipped ahead and looked around at all the excitement "I swear it gets better every year with all they do in the city!"
"I'm inclined to agree there!" Sonia replied.
"We should check out New York's celebrations next year!" Pandora suggested "It's always a laugh there too!"
"Can't wait!" Loki cheered.
Tyroth smiled as he saw the kids walking ahead pointing out everything, yet he couldn't help but feel that he stood out, being the only one that hadn't dressed up for the occasion, not that anyone else in town could tell.
"If they knew it was real, they'd sing a different tune." He had thought as a few more passers-by commented on what they thought was a costume.
As they passed a toy store, Tyroth looked at the toys on display in the window and he stopped almost causing Jack and Percy to bump into him.
It was obviously closed at this time, but one could still see the various things on display despite the darkness behind the reinforced windows, and the thing that caught Tyroth's eyes was an assortment of various Pokémon things.
As he looked at them, he had an idea and a grin spread across his face.
"What you are looking at hun?" Sephie asked as she too looked at the window display.
The other mutants did the same and Monalisa called out to the children to stop walking as they hadn't noticed the grown-ups behind them pause.
"What's up big guy?" Kate asked cocking her head on one side.
Without answering, Tyroth took a few quick glances around him, just to make sure that no-one would notice and then channelled his mana into the tip of his tail where it ignited creating a flame roughly the size of his own head.
"There!" he grinned "What do you think?"
Everyone blinked and stared at the dragon confused, but then Loki's eyes lit up.
"You're a Charizard now!?" he cried "That's so cool!"
"A what?" Pandora asked.
"That Dragon like Pokémon in the games and the TV show!" Loki explained "You know? He has a flame on the end of his tail!" so saying he pointed at the shop window and the other children saw the toys and the very one in question in the form of a large stuffed Dragon with a flame on his tail.
"Awesome trick dude!" Michelangelo commented.
"I agree!" said Sephie. "But won't the fire be a…well, a fire hazard?" she asked in a worried voice.
"No worries love!" Tyroth reassured "The flames are not even hot!"
Trusting his words, April brought her bare hand into the flames and true to his word, they were indeed not hot, barely lukewarm.
"It's almost like the chemicals they use in special effects for movies!" April said pulling her hand back and the others had a go at feeling the tail flame.
"Yes!" Donatello exclaimed "They burn at such low temperature that the fire they produce doesn't hurt the characters or sets!"
"Give it to the actual dragon to be the best at fire safety!" Leonardo chuckled and everyone laughed.
"So, your dad's a Pokémon now?" Pandora said impressed.
"Very original!" Sonia agreed.
The Geckolings grinned and Kemeko smiled proudly.
After updating his look, Tyroth and the gang continued their walk down the street and after a few moments looking around, everyone decided to go about the celebrations, yet Tyroth made sure they stayed in groups.
The children especially had to stay together, but they were advised that if for any reason they got separated they had to agree on a meeting place.
The Children agreed and after saying goodbye and promising that they were stay together and look after each other they sauntered off to have fun.
Monalisa and Raphael watched Pandora lead the others excitedly and Raphael sighed.
"You okay hon?" Monalisa asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I just…you know, hope Pandora's going to be okay that's all." Raphael replied.
"She will be!" Monalisa smiled "We need to trust her; she is growing up."
Raphael nodded.
"I know she can take care of herself; I just worry she might get impulsive if she's confronted."
"We did talk to her seriously about it." Monalisa reminded her mate "And she's wise not to do anything stupid, and anyway, Sonia and Kemeko especially will keep her in line."
"I can trust Kemeko on that." Leonardo agreed standing next to Raphael and patting his brother's shell "Her and Sonia."
Raphael nodded.
"Yeah, you're right, they'll be fine." He looked at his mate and brother and grinned.
"Come on, let's make the most of the night before it's over!"
So Tyroth made a last minute change to his look! He sure is a clever Dragon!
And now everyones split up to enjoy the night!
Next chapter we'll see what the kids get up to! and hopefully they won't get into scraps! But we'll see!
See you next chapter!
