Chapter Twenty Three
third POV
Audrey watched as Uma, or as Audrey liked to personally call her, the stupid squid, made her way farther and farther into the Isle. The hand that Audrey was waving stopped moving, and her smile dropped.
Rolling her eyes, Audrey looked around, hiding her urge to gag, "Finally! Let's go." Audrey pulled her cloak over her head, heading in the opposite direction where the sea witch went
"Do you know where we are going, Audrey?" Chad asked, looking around, trying to keep his head covered with a cloak he had brought.
"Of course," Audrey replied, nose wrinkled at the smell, "When I told those guards to dump the stupid face, I told them to tell me exactly where. He couldn't live far if no one saw her go with him"
Audrey rolled her eyes, watching Chad jump when a few kids jumped out.
They turned to a dark corner, the light seemed dimmer, and the walkway was practically empty compared to where they had just been. Only a couple of people seemed to be there, just looking, watching people who walked by.
Audrey couldn't help but wonder if they were lookouts for him.
Chad walked closer to the wanted ex-royal, practically holding her hand.
Audrey then abruptly stopped; left or right?
Tilting her head, Audrey examined both areas.
"Which way do we go?" Chad asked.
Audrey bit the inside of her lip as if she was trying to stop herself from smacking him until she stopped hearing a scream.
The girl smirked, looking at Chad just in time to watch his finch at the sound of his eyes filled with worry.
"That way," Audrey said, pointing to where they heard the scream.
It seemed this side of the Isle was the worst. There was barely any natural light; the roads seemed deserted.
Hearing the screaming, anticipation began to form for Audrey; she could hardly wait to meet this man. As sickening as this was to Chad to Audrey, it felt like Christmas had come early.
Audrey rolled her eyes again when she saw Chad shaking like a leaf. Chad had wanted to stay but followed Audrey like a puppy, though he could not hide the shivers and goosebumps as he got closer.
As they neared the screams, they realized the screams were coming from the better-looking house. It was like a cottage, and from the looks of it, it had two floors which was already a huge step up around the tents and shed-looking houses. It was by far the best in the whole area.
"It's this house," Audrey said, nudging Chad- who was looking around- to knock. His eyes widened, and he gulped but complied. A light, soft knock on the door.
Gritting her teeth and Audrey rolled her eyes before giving Chad a fake calm smile, "Louder," Chad gave her a tight smile but complied with the order.
"Shut up" a powerful voice yelled. The cries got softer until they became almost non-existent as the stomping towards the door became louder.
"What the fuck do you want?"
Audrey smirked. So this was the guy who ruined the stupid little face, she thought.
"We just want to talk, so why don't you tell us in," she said, trying to step inside.
The man laughed as if she had said a joke before he glared down, wrapping his hand around her neck, "Why would I take orders from a whore?"
Chad behind Audrey had reacted, his hand on his waist instinctively to pull his sword out, the one he didn't have anymore. Chad stood taller, hoping Audrey knew what she was doing.
Audrey leaned forward to show she wasn't afraid of him, "Because don't you want your little fae back, Gaston?"
Gaston Jr.'s eyes narrowed, looking up and down at her figure before leaning closer. Hence, their lips brushed against each other, "I don't know, I'm pretty happy with just you."
But Audrey wasn't convinced, not because his grip around her neck tightened as soon as she mentioned the purple-haired girl.
"That's quite a shame then; I heard they are pretty happy with each other" she stared at his brown eyes; they almost looked like Ben's if they weren't so filled with anger.
His jaw tightened before letting her go, "Let's say I'm interested. How will this benefit me?"
"Why don't we talk somewhere private?" Audrey said, staring at the brunette girl lying on the floor, shaking like lead.
"And what about him?" Gaston Jr. asked, pointing at Chad
Audrey waved her hand, "He could stay with her and make sure she doesn't leave."
Gaston Jr. gave let out a dark laugh, "If this whore has learned anything, she can't leave" he bent down, patting the girl's hair roughly, "is that right?" the girl, still shaking, nodded her head viciously, "Let's go."
"Chad, why don't you stay here," Audrey said, walking over to Gaston Jr.
You don't have to tell me twice; Chad thought, taking a seat and feeling anxious as the girl coward from Gaston Jr. as he walked by. Chad watched Audrey follow him, stepping on the girl's hands, not even glancing when she winced.
He waited anxiously to tap his foot against the floor before sighing when he heard the door close upstairs.
He stood up, feeling more at ease than ever; he looked around. The floor had dried blood in the cracks, barely visible but still. The floors had been scrubbed in, wanting to hide the evidence or maybe just keep the floors clean; he wasn't quite sure, not with this crazy man.
He wondered if Mal had to deal with this. Of course, she did. Who was he kidding?
He remembered everything about how they framed Mal, how everything was planned. Why did he do it?
Chad growing up hated the villains. When he was younger, his mom had been the one to tell him after she asked about how she grew up; it had been during dinner. He remembered his father dropping his fork and reaching out instinctively to comfort his mother. Chad remembered watching her freeze and smile slowly drop, tears forming in her eyes, gripping her husband's hand tightly for support.
It wasn't very nice, she said; I had to do all the cleaning and cooking for my stepfamily, but i then met your father at the ball. We got married and had you, i had my happily ever after.
It wasn't until Chad was older, twelve years old he discovered how much they had hurt her.
Chad was always confused when he heard his mother talk about her father. He seemed so healthy, so lively. How could his grandfather just die? He remembered his family attending a play. His mother had always liked plays, so as much as he hated going, he would do anything to keep his mother happy. Chad had been trying to fake being interested. In the middle of the second act, he was surprisingly captivated; the wife had stabbed her husband for his infidelity.
He had turned to look at this parent's reaction; perhaps he would see his dad pale, swearing to never be unfaithful jokingly. Of course, Chad knew how much he loved his mother.
Instead, he saw his mother trembling and crying.
Stay here, Chad, his father told him, escorting his wife out of the private booth.
But his mother was crying; of course, he wouldn't stay. He wanted to make things better, make her feel better.
He heard his mother wailing, crying, and hugging her father tightly.
"They killed him," she cried out, "They killed him, Kit."
His father only wrapped his arms around her tighter, "I know, I know."
"I was there," his mother sniffled, "I watched her murder my father! I should have done something!"
"Ella, love, you were 10. You were scared. What could you have done? You did the only thing you knew how to do, keep quiet and survive."
"I miss him."
Chad watched them continue to hug; he had numbly walked back to his seat and continued to watch the play. He hadn't even realized he was home until his mother walked him to his room.
He had gone to bed restless, of course. What can one do after kind out that sort of news?
The next day knowing his parents would be out in meetings, he snuck into their room, his mother had a journal and a diary, and he knew he would get answers to things he would never know.
He read every page, every single word on how cruel they were, how his mother worked for days, sometimes not even sleeping. How naive his mother was to how they treated her. How she blamed everything on herself when they would yell at her, call her names, and hit her.
And finally, Chad discovered that his grandmother had not died from a disease everyone had told him. She was poisoned by his step-grandmother all because she wanted the title of Countess; she married his grandfather for greed and killed those in the way.
But his mother's pain didn't stop there.
Only after they came to Auradon that Chad discover that his step-grandmother had been poisoning his mom. Every day since the day she suspected she had gone to the ball; why? The answer was simple: Why? So your husband leaves a wench like you for a mistress because he is the King and a King needs heirs. What good is a wife who can't bear heirs?
He read how his mother truly feared her husband would leave, that she would wake up one day and find his father tangled up with someone else. She wrote how she begged him to tell her if he would ever have an affair so she could prepare herself because it was better to know than to find out later.
Chad now understood why his father always held her close when greeting other women. He knew why; instead of the customary kiss on the hand, he would just hold it hovering his lips over it. How his father would always wipe his lips or cheeks, even with his mother's female friends. How he arranged himself daily, he gave her a bouquet of flowers, how they would go out together on a weekly date.
Because he wanted to make sure she knew she was irreplaceable to him.
Chad also realized how important he was to his mother; he was a miracle baby, a baby that she, by all means, shouldn't have been able to carry.
The soft thuds of the girl moving caught his attention. He paid attention to her. Her brown hair was tangled full of knots and badly damaged, her hair standing up, making it very clear that the monster had dragged her by the hair on more than one occasion. Her legs were shaking as if she were a baby deer barely walking for the first time. She was bruised, blue, green, black, purple, almost every color imaginable.
Chad watched her walk towards the kitchen, biting her lower lip before her body couldn't anymore and gave up. She hit the floor with a loud thud. She let out a groan in pain for less than a second before looking up, quivering as if Gaston Jr would come running down just to hit her. Chad wondered if it was a stretch, but a sick feeling in his stomach made him realize it wasn't.
Before he could even comprehend what he was doing, he ran to her side.
"Hey, are you okay?" he spoke.
His voice was somewhat soft that he had forgotten he had possessed.
He watched her head jerk up, trembling in fear. She meets his eyes before quickly looking down, shutting her eyes tight.
Chad had forgotten how to breathe. She was beautiful, her eyes deep blue. He could almost lose himself in them. Chad froze before shrugging off the cloak covering her body.
"You uh seemed cold," he lamely said when she gave him a questioning look.
"Thank you."
Her voice.
Chad felt his ears turn red; it was soft, and her voice was a bit raspy, but it was also soft, like the chirps of birds singing.
"Can I know your name?" he asked softly, part of him wondering if it was rude to ask that question. Was he overstepping?
"Oh, umm, it's Serena," she whispered.
Serena, Chad gave her a gentle smile. Reaching for his pocket, he took out a flask. Many would assume it was alcohol; Audrey had assumed that more than once, whispering things to him, telling him things Chad knew she would have never said if she thought he was conscious.
"Here," he held it up to her lips, "Don't worry," noticing her confused look, "It's just water."
Serena leaned closer, eagerly wanting to grab the flask; Chad watched her gulp down the water, savoring every last drop.
She took a deep breath wiping her chapped lips with the back of her hand, her eyes quivering a little, "Im sorry, I finished your water."
Serena waited for the inevitable, for the pain she would receive, but to her shock, the man laughed.
Serena had to stop the smile from forming on her face; his laugh was beautiful.
"What's your name?" Serena asked without thinking
"Chad. Chad Charming," he said, giving her a smile
Chad watched her smile immediately drop, slowly backing away from him, terrified of him.
There was no questioning if she heard anything bad about him, about what he had done. She knew.
"Wait," he called out, getting on one knee, "Please."
She stared, contemplating before finally nodding her head.
Audrey trailed after Gaston Jr., following him inside an office.
Eying everything, she resisted the urge to roll her eyes; why did someone like him have an office?
"Now speak, princess." he was sitting on his chair behind the desk
"Not even offering me a seat first?" she complained, taking a seat and crossing her legs, "that's not how you treat a princess, you know?"
He scoffed, "Princess? Weren't you disowned, princess" he smirked, leaning closer, "now it's nothing more than a nickname, a pet name."
Biting the inside of her cheek, she tried not to glare at him.
"What are you even gaining with this? You are wanted by everyone, the police, the royal knights, Maleficient, Hades; you've got a lot of enemies."
Audrey smiled, "I am irresistible."
"Why are you here?"
"Like I told you downstairs, to get your little fae back. For you and the fae to be far away from here, where no one can find you."
"What so you can be with the king?"
Audrey rolled her eyes, leaning back, "Oh gods no, there is no future with him and I, but there is with the King and Mal," putting in quotes Mal', "with just a little bit of magic, things can change."
"And where do we get this sprinkle of magic?"
"From the moors, of course; we just need her and will be able to get in."
"Won't Maleficient hear that and rush over."
Audrey stood up, leaning over the desk, giving Gaston Jr. a look-down shirt, "Not if we have a decoy, your little pet perhaps."
Gaston jr laughed, standing up, "You want me to give up one of my little treasures to get back that bitch?"
"Oh, well," Audrey turned her back at him, "I just thought she was worth you more than these. I guess you don't mind her hands wrapped around another guy, pulling him closer, pulling his hair as she cum, screaming his name over and over as she-"
She jumped when his hand gripped her chin, making her look at him, he was standing right in front of her, pushing her to sit on his desk, letting him stand between her legs.
His eyes darkened with anger, "Oh, Im sorry did I hit a nerve?" she asked innocently, looking up at him.
"You-"
"Yes? Do I leave you speechless" she asked, "I don't think you can lose with this deal, you know? You get to leave the Isle, find better food, better girls to fuck." Audrey then wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer, "Let's say this plan works. You get everything you would ever want. A place to stay. The fae of your dreams and a way out of the Isle." She ran her fingers up and down his chest, "Isn't that just perfect."
He placed his hands on her waist, pulling her even closer to him, "And let's say it doesn't" he leaned closer, forcing her to wrap her arms around her neck so she wouldn't fall.
"Mmm," she said as he began to nuzzle her neck, "Well then, I think I work for a replacement, don't you?"
He looked up at her smirking face, "You."
She leaned down so their lips brushed against each other, "You get to fuck royalty? Do what so many villains wished they could? Ruin a royal," she smirked, "in a different matter of speaking."
"And do I get to test my goods?" forcing her on her back, his hand holding him from crushing her.
Audrey laughed, "Shouldn't we seal the deal first? We do have a deal, right?"
"And how do we seal this deal?"
"With what else?" she pulled him closer, his chest touching hers, "a kiss."
He chuckled, "I think I'm going to like this partnership, princess," before capturing her lips.
She pulled him closer, tugging on his hair, forcing him closer. He wrapped one of his hands around her hair, tugging and pulling, making her gasp.
"It seems we have a deal." Gaston Jr said when they both finally pulled away. Audrey panted on the desk, but she couldn't help but smirk at him, leaning on her arms.
"It's a beautiful partnership." he continued running his hands from her leg up to her thigh, drawing circles slowly inching closer and-
Audrey sat up, stopping his hand, "Nah, uh, not unless we don't win." she placed a final peck on his lips before looking at the mirror behind him and fixing her hair.
"Something to look forward to then?"
She gave him a smirk, "Of course. We should get out of here while we can; this plan won't work in the Isle."
"And you have a way out?" he asked, letting her jump off the desk, leaning on the desk.
"Yes, let's go; we need to leave before the squid comes back," she said while standing closer to the mirror and checking her makeup.
"Squid? Uma, daughter of Ursula?"
Audrey turned, walking closer to him before giving him a sultry look, "not all brawn then."
Smirking, he lifted her chin, "And you're not just beauty, huh?"
hearing a Crash, they two groaned, annoyed.
"What about those two?" he asked.
"What about them? We'll need them; believe it or not, Chad is a skilled swordsman, and the girl, well, we need someone to clean up after us, right?"
"So there is a bit of brain in there," he said, smirking
Audrey gave him a glare, "Let's go."
"Chad!" Audrey yelled, walking down the stairs, "get the whore something to cover herself. We don't want to attract any attention."
"Yup, yup, got that covered," Chad said, moving closer to the staircase.
"Great, now go with her and get the car ready."
"She's coming with us?" Chad, who had been walking towards the door, stopped looking worried.
"Yes, now get her moving; we need to get to the car before Uma does," Audrey told him, "now go!"
"Oh, okay," he paused, turning to the girl, "umm, sorry about this"
Audrey held back a snarl watching Chad be gentle with a girl like that; why the hell was he being so gentle with the whore?
"Get going now!"
She smirked, watching him scurry off.
Hearing heavy footsteps, Audrey turned to the top of the stairs; Gaston Jr. stood there with a bag on his shoulder, "Are they gone?"
"Yeah, the idiot and your slut will get the car ready."
"Let's go then, princess."
Grabbing her hand, they moved out of the door, walking toward where they had left the car.
They found Chad waiting outside the car keeping his eye out.
"Chad, take his bag and put it in the back," Audrey said, walking inside the car and taking the driver's seat. Gaston Jr. followed, talking to the passager seat. This left Chad no option but to sit in the back with Serena, not that Chad minded much.
Just as Audrey started the car, Chad watched Serena's eyes widen, and her hand clenched; Chad quickly grabbed her hand, trying to comfort her.
On the other hand, Audrey's attention was preoccupied because of three pirates running towards the car, "Looks like Uma finally caught on."
"Audrey, you fucking bitch!" Uma yelled, Harry Hook and Gil following closely behind.
Gaston Jr. smirked, watching his younger brother running towards them, visibly angry, "A little too late."
"Let's get off the fucking Isle," Audrey said, speeding towards the exit, leaving three angry pirates behind.
