Zone 1 Chapter 1: A chance
Izuku woke up to an alarm clock ringing. For some reason, he was feeling funny, but he shrugged it off.
"Kids, breakfast!" Inko called down.
"Race ya downstairs Izuku!" Izumi said.
Izuku got out of bed and ran. Somehow he was running faster than usual. He made it to the table before Izumi did. She was surprised by this.
"Whoa, how did you get over here before me?!" she asked.
"I'm not sure…" Izuku said.
"Guess you must be hungry," Inko said, "I made your favorite to cheer you up."
She gave him some All Might face pancakes with chocolate chips in them, and syrup.
"Yay, pancakes!" Izuku said.
"Yep, pancakes," Inko told him.
The twins started chowing down, much to Inko's amusement. Ever since that day Hisashi walked out of their lives, the bullying went to a minimum since Izuku had Katsuki and Izumi on his side. Despite not having a quirk, Izuku decided to learn a few fighting styles to give himself a chance. Although there are heroes who are quirkless, they also rely on gear to give them a fighting edge.
A knock was heard on the door. Izuku went to answer it, once again at high speed. It was none other than Inko's friend Toshinori Yagi.
"Mr. Yagi!" he said.
"Hey there young Midoriya! How has your day been?" Yagi asked.
"It's ok," Izuku said.
"Toshinori, what a surprise," Inko said walking to the door.
Toshinori blushed as Inko looked in his direction.
"Mr. Yagi!" Izumi said, "My brother and I are gonna start training soon to become heroes!"
"Really? What are your quirks?" Toshinori asked.
"Well, I can use fire in many ways, like breathing fire, throwing fireballs, and more. Well, that's what I hope to do anyway hehe…"
"And you Izuku?" Toshinori asked as he looked at him.
"That's the thing Mr. Yagi," Izuku said, "I don't have a quirk. Most days I wonder if I can even be as great of a hero without one. Even my mommy has one."
Toshinori bent down to Izuku's level and smiled.
"Young Midoriya, listen well," he said, "You don't need a quirk in order to be a hero. That's one of the things that's wrong with the world today, as people see things in black and white. People think they need a quirk in order to go into the world of heroes. It takes more than a quirk."
Izuku was listening to Toshinori's wise words.
"It takes heart and spirit. Something that most people lack. But I see that determination in you. You keep on training and you'll be a great hero." He said.
He noticed Izuku's hair was looking fritzy.
"Is something wrong with your hair?"
"Oh no," Izuku said.
"Now that I think about it, you ran down here faster than I did, and you're usually slow…" Izumi said, "You were the same when you got the door."
"Well, I do remember touching that lucky charm and suddenly energy crackled around me," Izuku said.
"What does that matter, all that matters is you have a super power!" Izumi said, "We can train your power!"
"Now hold on, kids," Inko said, who was unsure about this, "We're not even sure if this power is safe or not, or what you're capable of doing."
"Then we can learn it together!" Izuku said, "Mr. Yagi can help us."
"I most certainly can," Toshinori added.
"Izuku…."
"Please Momma, can I study it, pleeeeeaaaasssseeee!" Izuku pleaded.
"It's just... you can train this power... just please be careful with this. Okay?" Inko said.
"Ok Mama!" Izuku said as he hugged her legs.
She then kissed Izuku on the cheek.
"Mama don't give me cooties!" Izuku said
Inko gave him a funny look then she chuckled.
"Izuku, mothers can't give cooties. Love cures it."
She then hugged Izuku close, prepping him with kisses.
"Mama! hahahaha!"
"What? You're just too cute for your own good!" Inko said.
Toshinori smiled at the family. 3 years had gone by smoothly. Toshinori visited daily to help Izuku train his newfound ability. It was somehow related to speed. Whenever he ran, his body would glow slightly green, and sparks would dance around him.
He was also capable of dodging swiftly and fastly. One time as Izuku was running fast, he ran into a boulder. Izumi saw this and ws concerned.
"Izuku look out!"
Izuku saw he was running into the boulder and put his fist up to protect himself. He expected his hand to hurt, however, his body started to curl into a ball, and dashed straight through the boulder, and it shattered to pieces. Izumi and Toshinori could only look in shock as they saw this.
"Am I the only one who saw that?" Izumi asked.
"No you are not. Are you alright young Midoriya?"
"I'm fine," Izuku siad, "I guess I had a bonus life or something."
"Izuku, that was really cool!" Izumi told him while jumping up and down, "It's like you rolled into a ball and smashed through that rock!"
"Well I thought I saw some rocks breaking," said a familiar voice.
Izuku and Izumi looked to their right to see their grandmother Nana Shimura, a retired pro hero who went by the name Paragon. Her quirk allowed her to fly in the air.
"Grandma Nana!" Izuku said as he ran at high speed to her.
He jumped into her arms, knocking her back. Nana chuckled and hugged the boy tight.
"It's so good to see you two," Nana said.
"Grandma, guess what? We're helping Izuku train to be a hero!" Izumi said, "He doesn't have a quirk but he has some kind of super speed power."
"Yea, whenever I run fast, some kind of bolts of lightning dance around me," Izuku said.
The way Izuku explained this power sounded familiar to Nana. She bent down to her level.
"Izuku, do your eyes also start to glow?"
"Yea."
"Izuku, what I'm about to say is ver important. That's no ordinary power. That power is Chaos Energy."
"Is that bad?" Izumi asked.
"There's no such thing as a bad power, its the people who use them badly," Nana told her, "And I know this, because I have something similar."
Nana then levitated in the air. Sparks of yellow were dancing around her.
"Whoa…" Izuku said.
"There are 3 types of Chaos energies in the world, speed, flight, and power," Nana said, "I got this ability from touching a special gem."
"You mean like this?" Izuku asked, holding up the green emerald.
"Why yes, that is a Chaos Emerald," Nana told him.
"So cn you teach me how to use my Chaos Energy power?"
"Of course I can Izuku, why else do you think I came?"
Izuku jumped up and down while smiling.
"That smile is one of the key things about being a hero. Those who smile are the strongest. But maybe smile wider."
"Like this?"
Izuku then morphed his face to look like All Might and kept his smile. Izumi and Toshinori chuckled.
"I'll tell you, the training will be tough," Nana said.
"Well I can take it!" Izuku said with a smirk, "If I can handle KAcchan's explosions, then I can handle this."
"Haha, tough as nails," Toshinori said, "If only I had the same nerves as you did..."
"What do you mean Mr. Yagi?" Izuku asked.
"It's... romance troubles," Toshinori answered.
"Romance? Is that some sort of food?" Izuku asked.
Nana and Toshinori both chuckled at this question, much to his confusion.
"No son. Romance is a... feeling. You'll understand when you're older." Toshinori told Izuku.
"Ooooooh," Izuku said, "well in any case, I'll study this book and master some of these abilities from top to bottom!"
"I'm sure you will."
Inko was watching the two of them get along so well. She sighed happily. Mitsuki was beside her, smirking.
"Someone's got a cruuuush," she said
Inko blushed and looked behind her. "MITSUKI!?" She yelled.
"What?" she asked, "I'm just stating the obvious.
"What are you talking about?" Inko asked.
"Oh don't play dumb with me, it's so obvious!" Mitsuki said, acting like a teenager, "You're madly in love with Yagi!"
Inko blushed at Mitsuki's comment.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" Inko said with a red face.
"Then how do you explain this," Mitsuki said, showing a page from Inko's notebook.
The notebook showed a drawing of her and Toshinori kissing in a field of flowers. Inko snatched the notebook back, and looked at Mitsuki who was smirking.
"Mmmph... fine... yes I have a crush on Yagi." Inko said in defeat.
"Called it," Mitsuki said, "So what are you waiting for? Go fish for your man!"
"It's just..." Inko started. "I... don't have very much confidence with guys since..."
Mitsuki knew what she was talking about. It had been years since she kicked Hisashi out, but she was still hurting over it.
"Inko, that was just one guy and he was a prick to leave you with Izuku. Look at Yagi. He's basically feeding him encouragement!" Mitsuki said.
They both looked at Toshinori who was talking with Izuku and Izumi.
"And he gets along well with kids," Inko added.
"Exactly!"
Inko looked back at Toshinori and had a small smile on her face. She knew Mitsuki was right.
