It was ten minutes later, when Regina receives a call from town hall, and she has to leave.

"It seems, that I cannot even take the day off, without something going wrong" she says with a sigh, as she stands up.

"Do you, um, need any help?" Emma asks awkwardly.

"No. It's fine. You enjoy the rest of your day dear. I will see you tomorrow" she smiles at Emma.

"Okay" Emma then replies, whilst swallowing thickly and once Regina is gone, she puts her forehead upon the table and curses herself, for making things awkward.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. I find your little crush on the mayor cute" she then hears Ruby say, as the waitress slides stands next to her at the table.

Emma, then leans up and looks to Ruby with a frown.

"Am I that obvious?" she asks.

"Only, if you pay attention to the details. Like, the longing gazes you give her, and you get all flustered around her sometimes" she chuckles to herself.

Emma groans.

"You should tell her how you feel" Ruby then suggests.

"Are you crazy? There's no way in hell, she likes me like that" Emma snaps and Ruby shakes her head in disagreement.

"Are you sure though? because I've seen the mayor look at you in the same way, and she sure does like having you around lately. What are you afraid of?"

"I'm afraid, that I will lose our newfound friendship. I'd rather have her friendship, than nothing at all" Emma sighs.

"Well, I'm sure it will all work out in the end" Ruby then says simply.

"I hope so"

Ruby then smiles and walks off, leaving Emma to ponder on their conversation.

Later that evening.

Emma is tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep.

She'd been thinking about Regina all evening and had even, typed out a text message to the older woman a few times but then deleted it.

I feel like a crush mad teenager, she thinks to herself. Before huffing and getting up, to go get an orange juice or maybe, even something stronger.

She then makes it to the fridge, before hearing her father say.

"Can't you sleep either?"

Emma then, turns around to see David sitting in one of the chairs at the dining table.

"Yeah, um, what are you still doing up?" Emma asks in surprise.

"I'm not feeling that well. I think, I'm coming down with something" he replies with a sniffle.

"Oh no, that's not good. Can I get you anything?" she then asks.

"No, I've took some meds. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to work tomorrow"

"Yeah, if not though, I don't mind helping out" Emma offers simply and then, helps herself to a glass of orange juice and goes to sit opposite her father.

"So, what is keeping you awake at this time of night?" he then asks her.

"Nothing really" she lies and looks down at the table.

"You can tell me anything Emma, I won't judge. You know that" he then says softly.

"Yeah, I know. I've just had a lot on my mind lately"

"Is it Henry?" David then asks.

"No. His good"

"Your mother then? I know she can be a little pushy sometimes"

"No, me and mom are okay. Though, I wish she would stop trying to tell me who to date" Emma rolls her eyes.

"She just wants you to find happiness, like me and her have"

"Yeah, I know, but I'd like to find it myself and not be forced into dating someone. Who I don't want to date"

"I understand" David then replies and they sit in silence, for a long moment.

"Have you seen Killian since Regina's birthday?" he then asks casually and Emma sighs.

"No, thank god. That man, just won't take no for an answer"

"Well, if you need a restraining order. I'm sure we can get one"

"Thanks, but I don't think it will come to that"

"Okay. So, how did it go at the spa with Regina. When I asked earlier, you were pretty dismissive. Didn't it go well?" he then asks, and Emma takes a deep breath.

"It was good. We had a glass of champagne, some snacks and stuff"

"That was nice of Regina to ask you to go with her. Alot has changed between you two lately" David then says, whilst watching Emma intently.

"Yeah, it was" Emma smiles.

""I wasn't surprised that asked you go" he then says, and Emma raises an eyebrow.

"Really?" she asks and David smiles slightly.

"You two, have become rather close. I saw the change in Neverland. You both, seemed to work out your differences there. Your night chats seemed to work"

"You knew about those?" Emma says in surprise and David shrugs.

"I woke up a few times in the night and saw you both talking" he then replies.

"Oh"

"I'm glad you both are getting along. It sure makes things a lot easier around here and I bet, Henry is pleased that his two moms are getting along"

"He is yeah" Emma smiles.

"Anyway, what are your plans for the weekend?" David then asks and adds "If I feel better, do you want to go down to the rabbit hole tomorrow night and have a few drinks?"

Emma then bites her lip briefly, before replying.

"I'd love too, but I've got plans for tomorrow night. I hope you don't mind"

"Of course not. Are you going anywhere nice?"

"Just over to Regina's for dinner"

"Well, I hope you have a nice time" he smiles at her.

"I'm sure I will" Emma smiles back and then downs the rest of her orange juice and stands up.

"I should head back to bed" she says simply and David nods.

"Me too" he replies.

"Night dad" Emma then says, whilst stepping away.

"Night Emma"

The next morning, Emma wakes up and stretches out. Before getting up and making her way to the kitchen.

Where she sees her mother making chicken soup.

"It's a bit early for chicken soup" Emma comments and Mary Margaret sighs.

"Your father had a rough night. He seems to be worse today" she then replies and adds "This will hopefully make him feel better"

"Oh, I hope so" Emma frowns.

"I don't think he will be able to go to work today" Mary Margaret then says and adds "Would you mind covering for him?"

"Sure, I did mention that I would if he felt no better"

"Thank you, sweetheart"

"No problem"

Emma then makes herself some breakfast and sits at the dining table. Whilst looking at her phone.

She has a message from Henry.

Ma, Am I still coming over to you tomorrow? As I'm staying at my friends tonight and his parents can drop me off at yours tomorrow?

Emma then smiles and types out her reply.

Hi kid. Yeah, as far as I know. That would be fine.

She presses send and continues to eat her breakfast and moments later, she gets a reply.

Cool. Mom told me your both having dinner together tonight. I think, she is really looking forward to it.

Emma raises an eyebrow and types back.

Really? Why do you think that?

She seems more happy than usual today and she keeps asking me stuff.

What kind of stuff?

She asked me, what outfit I thought looked best on her and what movie I thought you'd like, just in case you guys watched one.

Emma smiled at this.

What did you say? she then texts back.

I'm sure mom wouldn't want me to tell you. It would ruin the surprise.

I suppose your right. Okay. Have fun at your sleepover.

I will and promise me your me nice to mom tonight. She's going to a lot of effort.

Emma smiles widely at this.

I promise. She then texts back and feels, even more excited about her evening with Regina than before.

This is certainly not a date, but she can't help but feel, like it is one.

Sometime later, Emma heads off to the station to start work.

There is a mountain of paperwork and a dozen calls about vandalism waiting for her.

And it's not until, she has ten minutes left of her shift. That she gets a call from the rabbit hole about a disturbance, and she heads over, to find a brawl happening right in front of her.

Typical, she thinks to herself. As, she watches Killian's so-called friends, starting fights all over the bar with the dwarfs.

She then, tries to bring the situation under control by pulling them apart. But as she's doing this, she's hit in the face with a broken beer bottle.

"WHAT THE HELL" she shouts, as she reaches for her face and then pulls her hand away, to find blood there.

"Motherfucker" she then says angrily and then waves her hand in a sweeping motion, to make those fighting freeze like statues.

She then thinks that she should have done this in the first place, but stupidly thought, she could handle it without using magic.

"You're all under arrest, for drunk and disorderly behaviour and you" she gestures to the man, who wracked her in the face with a bottle "You, are also under arrest for assault" she then tells them, as

the owner of the bar, approaches her.

"You were lucky, the glass didn't get you in the eye" he says seriously, and then adds "You should go get that looked at"

Emma then nods.

"Yeah, I will. I just have to get some back up, to come and get these idiots back to the station" She reaches into her pocket for her phone but realizes that she hasn't got it with her.

So, she uses the bar phone to get help, with transporting everyone down to the station.

Over an hour later, Emma walks back into the station. Having had stiches applied to her cheek at the hospital.

She looks over to the cells, to see three dwarfs in one cell and four other men, in the next one.

They don't look happy, but Emma couldn't give a damn. As they had ruined her day and her face for that matter.

"How long we in here for?" one asks, and Emma huffs.

"As long, as it takes for you to sober up" She then replies, whilst thinking, the paperwork for this is going to be a nightmare.

She then looks to the time and suddenly realizes, that she should at been Regina's forty-five minutes ago.

"SHIT" she says out loud. Before, grabbing her jacket and rushing out.

She then, drives over to Regina's and parks the car outside of the mayor's house.

Jeez, I hope she's not too mad, she thinks to herself, as she jumps out of the car and heads up to Regina's front door.

Where, she knocks upon it and stuffs her hands into her pockets. Whilst anxiously waiting.

And moments later, the door flies open, and Regina she is standing there and looks like, she is about to speak her mind.

But strangely she doesn't...

A/N I thought I'd leave this one on a cliff hanger. Thanks to everyone who is following, favourited and reviewed this story. I appreciate it.
