Dad!! Dad!"
"Chief!"
The two teens called, as they ran through the village, not even taking in the fact that it's almost 2 in the morning at this point and most of the villagers are fast asleep with their lights off. Making it hard to navigate through the village.
In the Haddock household, layed Hiccup and Astrid in their bed. Both fast asleep. Astrid being the one who takes over most of the bed and the blanket. Hiccup remembers one of the first nights he shared the bed with Astrid when they were newly weds. How she pulled the blanket so hard, it made him loose his grip and fall off the bed, hitting his head on the bed side table. This whole incident made the couple laugh for days on end.
Now, Astrid still takes over most of the bed, but Hiccup knows how to deal with it.
The chief was having a very wonderful dream! Which he usually never has. It was him in a field, by himself, feeling the cold summer breeze. Then he suddenly saw a black creature pass him by.
Toothless.
It was Toothless.
He never said that name in so long. It almost felt foreign. His amazing Nightfury companion.
"Hey, bud!" Hiccup shouted as the black Nightfury landed a few feet in front of him. Toothless gave him a small, gummy smile. The one he used to give him all the time. The two of them made eye contact.
Suddenly, Toothless pranced on him. Making the chief hit his head on the ground but he didn't care. He didn't care at all. He was just happy to see his best friend. The one he missed so much. He was getting licked all over. Just like he used to, mostly over a big victory. After they defeated the dragon hunters, and after they defeated Drago.
"I missed you so much!" Hiccup exclaimed. Grinning from ear to ear. He can't believe his bud was back with him. He missed the Joy he brought. They joy they all brought!
"What have you been up to?" Hiccup asked.
Then suddenly, the Nightfury moved aside, revealing three little baby hybrids. Some white in places, and some black in places. They looked skeptical of the human, but Toothless gurgled at them. They were absolutely adorable.
"Oh my Gods." Hiccup whispered in shock and surprise. "I see you have been busy." He joked, almost seeing a smile on the reptile's face.
"I have kids, Toothless." The chief stated, proudly. "A boy and a girl. They are quite old now. Teenagers." He said, as Toothless hissed slightly.
"Yeah, I know." Hiccup chuckled abit "They are a handful at this age, but I love them to peaces. I should probably tell them more often. It's just--" The chief stopped, having a slight vocal fry. Breathing deeply.
"You used to be my security blanket, Toothless. I had nothing before you. My dad and I were distant, Astrid didn't like me, no one did. I was the joke of the village. But you... Bud, you made me someone. You made me heard." Hiccup's voice was now cracking with every word. Stroking his old friends head. Toothless's eyes reflected Hiccup's face. He could have sworn he saw tears in his eyes as well.
Toothless scooted forward and licked his old riders cheeks. His little Nightlights going up to him as well, one laying in his lap, as he stroked his head as well.
Suddenly, this amazing and wholesome dream, turned into a nightmare.
Hiccup heard a slight yelp beside him, he saw Stormfly. He didn't even realize she was there, but she was getting shot down. Badly. Her sides started bleeding, but Hiccup couldn't tell where the arrows were coming from.
"Stormfly!" He yelled, as he got up from the ground and ran over to his wife's old dragon.
He petted her head as she started to bleed more. He had nothing to stop it. She started to get weaker and weaker.
"Stormfly!!" He heard another voice shout behind him. He turned his head to see wife running towards the commotion. When did she get here?
"It's okay, girl! I'm here!" Astrid spoke, as she stroked the dragons snout, and layed her head on hers. Hiccup didn't know what to do. They were helpless.
Suddenly, he heard another sharp growl behind him, making Hiccup jerked towards the sound. He saw Toothless getting shot as well. Three arrows down his sides.
"Toothless!!" He yelled, as he ran over to his own dragon.
"Hand over the dragons!" They heard from a mysterious voice. They couldn't tell who it was from. Neither of them recognized the voice and couldn't see their face.
"Never!" Astrid shouted as she stood up. A hard glare on her face to a random spot above, since neither of them can figure out where the voice is coming from.
Near Hiccup's head, he felt something pass by his ear, with a quick woosh! It passed by him and his eyes widened as he saw the object hit his wife, trying to protect her dragon.
She gasped slightly, as she felt her stomach, and the blood oozing out of the womb. The arrow still stuck inside.
"Astrid!!" He then shouted. Almost getting dizzy from running back and forth. Her eyes were getting heavier, and started watering.
"Astrid, it's okay! It's okay!" He tried to comfort her, as he eased her to the ground.
"Why are you doing this!?" He asked, now enraged, to the sky above.
"I'm going to destroy everything you've ever loved..."
Wait, where have you heard that before?
Wait...
Grimmel..
Grimmel the Grizzly..
But the voice sounded much different. Much lighter and almost more feminine. It didn't sound like Grimmel at all. Who was that voice?
Suddenly, the little Nightfuries got swooped up by a large net and was out of eye view. So much was happening at once. It was almost overwhelming.
"You better watch your back, Hiccup Haddock. Because we're not done with you or your dragons..."
Hiccup was on his knees. Almost wanting to beg for mercy, but knew he couldn't. He had to be a leader.
Suddenly, he heard another voice. A voice he recognized well.
"Dad!?"
"Dad!!"
It's Zephyr!
He looked around, and couldn't see her.
The world around him starting to become blurry. The voice was faded in and out. The sight of his dragon and wife started to go too. But the voice of his daughter was getting clearer.
"Dad!!"
Suddenly, Hiccup jolted up with a sharp gasp. His forehead was sweating heavily and his clothes were damp as well. He looked at his wife next to him, who was stirring. She usually is quite the heavy sleeper.
"Dad!"
But that voice still continued on! He thought that was apart of the dream, but apparently, it wasn't.
He jolted out of bed quickly, falling flat on his face! Forgetting one important thing. His leg.
He scrambled to get it when he heard a voice beside him.
"What's going on... Why are you on floor?" Astrid asked, like it was the most normal thing ever to see her husband scurring on the ground in the middle of the night.
"Oh, just trying to find my pride." He muttered sarcastically, finally clipping on his prosthetic.
Astrid was about to reply, but Hiccup just said, "I'll be right back." And kissed her forehead.
He rushed down the stairs without a second glance at Astrid. He didn't see his daughter down there, so he went toward the door.
There he saw, Zephyr and Axel! Rushing toward him. Both looking equally scared and surprised by something. He didn't know what.
"What's wrong?! Are you guys okay!" He asked, as he wanted to embrace his daughter right then and there, but wanted her to explain what's going on first.
"We saw... something!" Zephyr panted. Clearly exhausted from the run over.
Hiccup raised an eyebrow.
"I'm gonna need a little more info then that!"
"We think it was a dragon, sir!" The Larson boy spoke. Equally sounding out of breath.
Hiccup's eyes shot opened. A dragon? A real dragon? Hiccup thought it was a strange coincidence after the dream he had.
Hiccup suddenly looked around quickly. As if someone would be watching them.
"First off, are any of you guys hurt?" He asked, seriously. Eyeing both teens.
"Zephyr got injured, chief."
He almost got whipflash by how fast his head turned towards his daughter. She cringed slightly but brushed it off.
"No I didn't! It's fine, dad!" She simply stated. Hiccup knew vikings had stubbornness issues, so he decided to check her anyway.
He saw a rather large laceration on her arm. It didn't look that deep, thank Gods, but he still didn't know what dragon they saw! What if it was venomous? They haven't cracked opened those dragon medical books in a while, he even wondered if they still have it.
"Axel, do your parents know you are out this late?"
That question seemed to have come out of no where. The boy just looked down and bit his lips.
"Uh, no... I was planning on sneaking in through my window later. I moved the pile of hay outside my window so if I fall, I would fall in the pile instead of the usual wood chips that are there. I was pulling splinters out for weeks last time."
Hiccup had to give this kid credit for his honesty. He would have laughed if his daughter wasn't hurt. Maybe this kid isn't as bad as he thought.
"It's okay. I'll talk to them tomorrow. Come inside for a few minutes." The chief stated as he opened the door for them. Axel and Zephyr made eyes at eachother for a second before rushing inside.
As they walked inside, Hiccup lit a few candles for some light. Suddenly, they heard the squeak of the wooden stairs above them.
It was Astrid, who was holding a candle of her own. Her hair messy, and her night wear wrinkled.
"What's going on?" She asked with half lidded eyes, clearly still half asleep. Unlike her Husband, she isn't a night owl. She's in bed and asleep by 10 every night. But Hiccup could pull all nighters if he wanted to. He just knew he had lots of morning meetings, and his wife would give him the "you need to get your sleep" lecture.
"We saw a dragon!" Axel spoke, half excitedly, half nervously.
"We don't know if it was a dragon! It could have been a really big, scary, black yak with green eyes." Zephyr muttered, brushing her hair out of her face.
"Wait, so the creature was black?" Hiccup asked for confirmation as he took out his at home first aid kit.
"And had green eyes?" Astrid asked, as she walked over and eyed her daughters injuries.
"What happened--"
"Nothing, mom! Okay, it's just a little scratch. Dad's overreacting." Zephyr rolled her eyes.
"He tends to do that." Astrid smirked, making her husband look up.
"Wait what?! No I don't! I appropriately react! For all we know, this could be a lethal dragon and she could be dying as we speak!" Hiccup exasperating, using his hands to speak as always.
"Gee, that makes me feel great!"
"You won't feel great if you're dead!"
"Hiccup, stop!"
"It's true! It could have been something bad!"
"By the looks of it, it seems like a--"
"Don't say it!"
"You know what I'm gonna say!"
"I swear, you say, I'm leaving you!"
"No you want! I'm the only reason you make your meeting on time!"
"We're getting off track!"
"Guys! Can you fix my bloody arm!" Zephyr finally chimed in again.
"Can I move in with you guys? You're so entertaining. All my family does is yak tiping, and it gets boring after the first hour!" Axel spoke, sitting on the opposite end of the table.
"Sorry, two kids are enough for us." Hiccup stated, as Astrid Smirked.
"Now, back to the dragon--" Zephyr stated.
"What dragon do you think it is, mom?"
Astrid sighed as she sat down next to her.
"We think it might be a Nightfury."
Zephyr's eyes widened as she winced slightly when her arm got squeezed due to her father wrapping up the small womb.
"Really? A Nightfury! That's the dragon I talked about with Mr. Fishlegs. I never got much information about them." She stated, but she remembered him saying that her father knows more then him.
"They are rare." Was all her mother said.
"Hey." They heard another voice from the staircase. It was Zephyr's annoying little brother, Nuffink.
"Why wasn't I told we were having a late night party, and why wasn't I informed? I do live here, you know." He spoke sassily.
"Oh my Gods. Nuffink, shut up and go back to bed!" Zephyr groaned. Getting annoyed at new people keep coming and coming.
"Don't be mean to your brother." Hiccup, simply stated. "Nuff. You can go back upstairs. We're almost done here."
"No we're not." Axel scoffed. "We're just getting started! We're trying to figure out what dragon we saw and if it was a Nightfury or not!" He stated. Making Hiccup softly glare at him.
"A Night fury!? Are you serious!?"
"Okay! Everyone, calm down!" Hiccup said. Releasing his daughters arm. "Let's figure this out!" He sat back down, facing Zephyr.
"So you saw a big black dragon with green eyes, correct?" He asked simply, earning a small nod.
"Okay, and did it do anything? Anything worth remembering?" He asked. Zephyr and Axel just made eyes for a few seconds.
"Nothing really... He just walked up to us and circled us, and he whipped Zeph with his tail. After that, we just ran." Axel stated.
"Did he surround you, almost like you're prey. Was he low to ground? Like he's trying to hide?" Hiccup asked, a little more frequently.
"I don't know, dad! We weren't paying attention. I don't know why it matters so much. How would you know?" Zephyr stated. Getting more tired with all the questions.
"Believe me, Zephyr. I know more then you think." Hiccup spoke, quietly. He slowly got up and leaned closer to his wife.
"Should we let everyone know?" Hiccup asked her, leaning close to her ears.
"Not now!"
"I know not now! But in the morning! Do you think that's a bad idea?" He asked her. She bit her lip for a second.
"Uh... I don't see why not! It seems like it could be Toothless but we don't know that for sure. We want to keep everyone safe." Astrid simply spoke.
"Wait, we said it could be a Nightfury! We never said it could be Toothless!" Hiccup whispered yelled. Astrid gave him a confused look.
"Hiccup, Grimmel killed all the Nightfuries. He said so himself. Why would you--"
"We haven't seen every corner of the archipelago, and we for sure haven't seen the whole interior of the Hidden World. We don't know what's in there! Toothless could have found the rest of his kind with the Lightfury. It's possible." He stated in one breath.
Astrid sighed and rubbed her forehead. It's too late for this conversation.
"Okay, what if your right! How does that further this conversation?" She asked, simply.
"I don't know, Astrid! It's just something I've been thinking about alot! Let's just alert everyone in the morning. It's not an immediate threat or anything." He stated, as his wife just nodded.
"What do we do with him?" Astrid stated, nodding toward Axel.
Hiccup sighed. Loosing his energy quick. "Uh..." he trailed off.
"Don't say just leave him outside by the front porch." She punched his chest slightly.
"Okay okay! Fine! We can let him stay here for the night." He muttered quickly.
"Hey Larson." Hiccup said, making the boy look up.
"You're staying here for the night. Pick your spot." The chief said simply.
The boy just stood up, looking at his choice between a medium size couch and a long arm chair that did look quite comfortable.
"I'll stay here." He said, rather shyly. Sticking with the couch. Hiccup went into the hall closet and got an extra pair of pillows and blankets. He tossed them to the boy. The pillow landing on his face and it messed up his bangs. The blanket falling on his lap luckily.
"There's water in the cooler if you get thristy in the middle of the night, and the outhouse is... outside obviously. Goodnight." Hiccup spoke, rather simply. Barley thinking of his words. The adrenaline wearing off so everyone was left tired.
"Upstairs, kiddos." Hiccup gestured to his children. Usually Zephyr would talk back to her father about how she's not a kid anymore, but it was pointless to say right now.
Astrid and Nuffink were already in their rooms at this point. Zephyr was about to enter hers.
"Zephyr?" Her father spoke.
She turned to see her father standing behind her.
"I wanted to say I'm sorry... for earlier. You know I don't think you're a disappointment, right?" Hiccup asked, with a hand on her arm.
"Do we really have to do this now, dad? I'm tired and my arm hurts." She muttered. Hiccup just chuckled slightly.
"I love you, Zeph." He stroked her hair softly. Zephyr felt warm inside with her father's compassion and affection.
"I love you too, dad." She whispered as she opened the door to her room and walked inside it. "Good night." She stated before closing the door to her room.
She could have died tonight for all he knows, and the last time they talked was a dramatic fight. He wouldn't want that to be the last memory they had of one another. But when Hiccup saw her on the front porch step, he completely forgot all about the fight, and it looked like she did too.
"Goodnight, Zeph."
--
"Chief, we need you!"
Hiccup was awake once again by someone calling for him. Alteast it's not his daughter this time. His daughter wouldn't just refer to him as "Chief."
Luckily, it was morning so Hiccup was much more alert and ready to take on the day.
Once Hiccup made it out his front door, he saw the New Berk residents, Mildred and Olaf, standing outside with a worry expression.
"What's going on?" Hiccup asked, still adjusting his leg as he walked, so it was tight enough.
"Oh Gods, Hiccup! We woke up and noticed that our entire vegetable garden is burnt. Completely burnt beyond repair. We were thinking maybe its the twins playing with fire again!" Mildred huffed.
"The Thorstand twins or the new generation, Ingerman twins?" Hiccup asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Either!" She huffed again, crossing her arms tight across her chest.
"Let me take a look at it." Hiccup offered. They led their chief towards the garden, which, they were right, completely sizzled and burnt somehow, but it generally didn't look like fire to him.
He knelt down and looked closer at the wreckage. He noticed it looked like it has been shot at from above from the angles of the burnt places.
"I don't think this was somebody's doing." Hiccup simply spoke, getting up. Making Mildred and Olaf confused.
"Then what could it be?" Olaf asked.
Before Hiccup could respond, they heard a loud crash from nearby. Making the three of them fall to the ground.
"Hiccup!! Hiccup!" Fishlegs exclaimed, as he ran over, out of breath. "I think we're under attack!!" He whispered yelled. Not wanting to startle anyone nearby. The chief's eyes widened from his friends statement, and suddenly looked up.
He barley saw the disappearing and reappearing of dragons above. A dragon he thought he recognized.
The lightfury?
"Make sure everyone takes cover and gets to the Great Hall if they can!" Hiccup said to his friend. He nodded and took off in the opposite direction.
"Hiccup, what about our garden?!" Olaf asked, following the chief.
"Mildred, Olaf..." He began, as he stopped to face them. "Someone's house just got blown up and more is happening. No offense, but your garden is the least of my concern." Hiccup said, sternly. But he kept his usual joking tone that he displays alot.
The couple just looked offended at first, but quickly came around to their understandings. This is much more dire.
They walked into the Great Halls and saw everyone gathering in. Children looking afraid, parents trying to calm them down, and teenagers who really don't seem to care.
The rest of the council were trying to organize everyone so they weren't all jumbled in the front. It's always humours to see Snotlout and the twins acting serious and doing their jobs as members of the council. Its much appreciated.
"Everyone, settle down!" Astrid spoke, as the people in the front tried to take a seat, and the people in the back were leaning against the wall. She had her axe out, so everyone was really hesitant to make her angry, but everyone got even quieter when Hiccup walked in. Not because they were scared of him, it's mainly because he's going to get everyone's attention anyway since he's going to start talking soon.
"Hey!" Hiccup shouted, cuffing his mouth to project his voice louder. Everyone quieted down, ready to hear their chief.
--
"So did you really see a dragon?!" El asked, leaning into the Haddock girl and Larson boy. They were in the back of the hall, sitting on tables.
"We think so." Was all Zephyr said. She was already getting tired of talking about it. Especially because she doesn't have any answers! She wants to know exactly what she saw but of course, her and Axel are the only one who saw it.
"Wasn't it one of those two headed ones? Or the one covered in fire?" Liv asked, sitting cross leg on the floor. Her twin laying on her stomach with her head in her hands.
"No, it was black with green eyes. That's all we remember." Axel simply replied. Sitting next to Zephyr on the table. "The chief thinks it was a Nightfury."
Suddenly, Hilda spit out the water she was drinking all over her twin's face, making her sit up and wipe her face with her hand. "What was that for?" Liv asked.
"Nothing, I just wanted to ruin your shirt." Hilda said, with a small smirk. "But seriously, a Nightfury?! Aren't those like extinct?" She asked.
"Aren't all the dragons extinct?" Ari asked, joining in.
"Apparently not." Zephyr spoke. Shrugging her shoulders. "How was sleeping at the Haddock household?" She turned to Axel. He shrugged and took a sip his drink first.
"It was good. The couch was comfy. I was just scared your dad was going to try to strangle me in my sleep." He chuckled, making Zephyr roll her eyes.
"Oh Gods! My dad doesn't hate you! He allowed you to sleep at our house! He could have let u sleep out in the cold but he decided not to." Zephyr pointed out, making Axel shrug.
"I guess. But he could have lost his chief position if he did that." Axel chuckled. Making Zephyr blush at his adorable laugh.
"Speaking of the chief, why are we here again?" Liv asked. Now looking rather bored.
"I don't know, man. I stopped asking questions at this point." Ari spoke, basically laying on the ground now.
"I'm guessing it's going to be about the burnt buildings and the sudden dragon encounter." Said El.
Perfect timing. Hiccup was seen walking through the door. The thud, squeak of his prosthetic on the ground, actually was heard from across the hall. Probably due for a tune up.
"Alright, let's see what he has to say."
--
Hiccup stood on a small ledge as everyone settled down a bit.
"I know alot have been happening--"
"What do we do chief?! Our houses are in danger!" A resident interrupts.
Hiccup took a deep breath before continuing on.
"We understand! That's why we gathered you all here!" He stated. "We spotted something last night that we think might have caused the destruction."
Just then, the Great Hall jolted slightly, making some people fall over and others grabbed the nearest tables and wall to keep upright. They heard the same booming noise from before, like it was coming from right outside the Hall. Hiccup, along with a few other members of the council, tried to calm the now freaking out residents. But it was quite hard due to him not being able to stand up straight and losing his balance due to the shaking of the Hall.
"Okay! Everyone--"
"Are we gonna die?!"
"No!"
"Let's go out and fight!!"
"We don't know what's out there!"
"It's destroying everything!!"
"Calm down!"
"A Nightfury was spotted!!!"
At that last remark, the Hall went silent. The shaking suddenly stopped too. Almost like the chief's words broke the spell.
"A Nightfury?" Valka was the one to asked first. True shock on her face.
Astrid was helping some people who fell over, up from the ground.
"Axel and Zephyr saw a Nightfury last night." Hiccup plainly stated. A few eyes went to the two teens.
"Do you really think that could be what's causing this destruction, chief?" Someone from the crowd asked.
Hiccup didn't want to believe it. He really didn't, but he knows from his mom. There are no such things as bad dragons. Only dragons controlled by bad people. That causes bad dragon behavior. He hasn't seen Toothless in many years, so Gods know what could have happened to him and the other dragons. Who could have found there way to the Hidden World.
At this point, Hiccup was desperate. He wanted to know! He wanted to know what was going on, and if it's his old bud.
Not to mention the dream he had the other night! Did that mean anything? Anything at all? Could it have been... a message?
Finally, Hiccup made his way over to the door, ignoring the calls from his wife and daughter. The floor was shaking slightly, or was that just his legs? He opened the door and was almost blinded by a bright light. Flashes that seemed way to similar to a blasma blast.
Almost a second later, a sharp blast was coming towards the door. He gasped slightly and shut the door quickly. Leaning against it to keep it closed.
The crowed was so silent, you can hear a pin drop! They waited a few minutes to make sure everything was over. Atleast for now.
With a deep breath, and eye contact with his wife, Hiccup opened the door slowly and hesitantly. Peaking his head out first. The look of everything made his heart sink.
His Village! Their village, was completely burnt. Houses almost unrecognizable and the grass below them was now brown and crispy. This is just like the attack with Grimmel all over again.
He slowly trailed out. A short exhale as he looked around.
"Oh my Gods." He heard his wife mutter behind him, as she placed one hand on his shoulder and another over her mouth in shock. Other people came out as well, equally as shocked and mortified.
"We are not moving Islands again! We can't keep doing this!" Snotlout grumbled from behind. He is usually all nonsense but he definitely has a point. They can't keep moving island everytime they get attacked. He wasn't planning on moving. That wasn't an option. They started a life here, it's not going to change now. Not again.
They heard a dramatic gasp behind them, as they turned towards the voice.
"I hope the boar pit is okay!!" Ruffnut shouted as she ran away, her brother close on her heels.
Hiccup squinted in confusion, as Astrid rolled her eyes. They were still looking at the damage, as some villagers removed pieces of wood from the ground and leaned them against standing buildings.
Hiccup felt Astrid grab his upper arm, as they made awful eye contact again. No words, just sad and confused eyes.
The teenages were the last to leave the hall due to being in the back. They gasped as they saw the destruction.
"Oh thor..." Nuffink muttered as they all looked around the town.
"Uh, chief? You should take a look at this!" Eret said, around the corner of the hall. Hiccup ran after him in a hurry. Prosthetic squeaking dramatically. Astrid followed closed behind him.
They stopped next to the tall man and was shocked by what they saw.
It was a small terrible terror lying on the ground. Hurt and badly injured. You could hear the whimper of the poor dragon. They haven't seen this sight in years. They almost forgot how heartbreaking it is.
"Hey..." Hiccup whispered as he got down next to the small dragon. It whimpered louder and tried to get up, but Hiccup shushed him and petted his snout. "It's okay.."
"Did you see what happened?" Astrid asked, as she next down next to the dragon and her husband.
"I didn't. I found him like this. It looks like he got badly burnt." Eret stroked the dragon as well. "Should we take him to the healer?" The man asked.
Hiccup and Astrid looked at eachother for a second. They haven't been in this situation for a while.
"Yes, of course. Let's--"
"Wait Chief, look at his leg!" Eret stopped him.
They looked at his limb and saw a small note tied to the terrors legs. It was a little sizzled from the heat.
Hiccup's hands were shaking as he untied the note. This was all happening so fast, he had no time to process what the letter said.
Dear Chief Hiccup,
I hope this letter gets to you quickly and smoothly. You never thought you'll see a letter come from a terror again, huh? I'll make this quick. You owe me. You owe me big time, Hiccup Haddock. For the death of Grimmel the Grizzly. This is your warning. I don't give warnings that often. Your village has been destroyed once again, that's your first warning. I want you to meet with me, but you most come alone. No wife, no fellow "dragon" riders. You will meet me at the west island on the coast of the archipelago. A week from today. If you don't, you'll loose everything you love. Because I'm not done with you and your dragons...
Hiccup read this letter carefully, shielding it from his wife and Eret who was nearby. Even though the letter was terrifying, he tried to keep a straight face to lessen concern.
"What does it say?" Astrid asked as she leaned forward, but her husband just crumbled up the letter and stood up.
"Nothing. It was nothing. It wasn't for us." Was all he said. He knew Astrid was smarter then that.
"You sure--"
"Yes, I'm sure. Let's just get this cleaned up." He gestured to the mess around them, and walked off. What concerned Astrid is how Hiccup still kept the letter in his hand. If it's not for them, wouldn't he just throw the note away?
There are lots of questions that desperately need to be solved.
Hello fellow Dragon readers! (That should be what I call you now! Loll) This chapter was definitely alot so I hope your enjoyed it! Sorry if the ending seemed kinda rushed! I always had trouble writing stuff like that and not make it sound cheesy or boring! Also, how Hiccup was acting to Zephyr and Astrid in the night scene was meant to be just friendly banter. I can picture the Haddock family making dark jokes like that all the time! Stay tuned, y'all! We're just getting started! : )
