If there was one thing to describe the current situation, it would be eventful. The first day of the cadet's joint operation with the police already has them chasing a smuggling organization.
"Are you sure we are still on their trail? There were so many forks in the road that I felt like you made a wrong choice somewhere." Ya said as they all kept running.
"Just shut up and follow me." Lin said as she sped up.
"Why should we listen to you, if it feels like we've been running for a while." Shen said.
Lin doesn't say anything, the only thing she did was take a left turn with the other two following them.
As if the world answered their questions upon that left turn a similarly steel door was seen, while not covered in blood like the first one rather it was covered in dirt and grim.
"Told you. Just follow me." Lin said as she went from a quick running pace to a full-on sprint causing her two tails to flow like boat sails in the wind. "Everything will be easy." As she slammed her fist into the door causing a satisfying loud metallic ringing to sweep the underground halls along with the door being caved in.
"Ugh, what is that smell?"
Foul would be the word everyone thought when the smell of the now open room invaded the outside world.
"What the hell were they doing there? I swear I will kill whoever thought this was a good idea."
Lin said she kicked the door fully off its hinges. It was clear that she was clearly frustrated with the smell as each kick seemed to be filled with hatred along with her two tails standing upright. In her mind, she wasn't mad at the fact they were doing something illegal but rather someone who dared to cause her to deal with such a terrible smell.
After a handful of kicks, the door fell flat on the ground with another metallic sound.
"Now let's see-" Lin said as something was flying towards her at a quick speed, before she even knew what she was doing she tilted her head to avoid the object. The next moment she dashed to the side breaking line of sight with the inside of the room.
"Hide, there are more thugs!" Shen shouted as he dragged both Lin and Ya to the side of the door breaking line of sight.
"Just great, there are more people. Why is everyone getting in my way?" Lin said.
An entire bombardment of arrows was whizzing down the halls.
"Of course, this is how our first mission went, we have this idiot after all." Shen said as he pointed to Lin as if it was the most obvious thing ever.
"I know damn well you're not talking, talk to me when you stop becoming sub-human." Lin said.
The two bickered before they noticed the temperature drop slowly but noticeably.
"How about instead of complaining now, do it after we get home. It's annoying." Ya said.
Ya reached her hand out and within moments a cracking sound was coming from her hand as a white mist started to flow from her hand. The next moment a shard of ice formed, then another, and another until a slab of ice in the shape of a rectangle was formed.
"Lin do you-"
Before Ya could finish speaking Lin grabbed the ice block by a handle Ya made and rushed into without listening to whatever Ya or Shen wanted to say. Lin stood up and rushed into the room without a care in the world.
"Focus on the shielder, bring her down and we can deal with the other two. Squads 1-3 focus on the shield, everyone else stays focused on the door." One of the thugs shouted.
The thugs did as they were told as another flurry of arrows went towards the charging Lin. Cracks were starting to form along the shield as more and more arrows were starting to pierce the shield.
"This shield could have been better." Lin said as she dropped the shield and kicked it forward, keeping it positioned in a way to block the arrows coming from the front of her while she ran behind it.
'As I thought.' Lin said in her mind as the shield got close enough for her spear to reach, she jumped over it. 'This is quite manageable.' She thought as she stabbed the closest person through the head.
"Squads 1-3 surround her. She rushed in on her own." The same thug yelled.
Lin slams her foot into the ground causing the integrity of the room to worsen. All of the thugs struggled to regain their footing. Lin used one of the pieces of glass from the ground and threw it at the light above them causing Lin's figure to become harder to see.
"Let's have some fun." Lin said as she rushed towards the closest thug and like the unlucky one from before got a rod of whatever the spear is made of through their heart. She threw her spear at a thug that was further away while grabbing a newly made corpse as a better shield to intercept incoming attacks.
Lin's tails perked up at the presence of someone approaching behind her so she threw the corpse at the thug before performing a spin kick at their chest causing a very audible cracking sound of their ribs.
As the once clean room filled with tubes and bottles that you would see in a science room got painted a new shade of crimson. Some of the thugs could see that the twin tail beast in front of them was becoming a bigger hassle than they expected, not even counting the other two being suppressed by the other squads.
"Squads 1-3 follow me! We need to buy time for the messenger" The thug yelled as they quickly retreated into another hallway.
"No, no, no. You are not leaving." Lin said as she ran after them.
The Ark
"Squads 1-3 are dealing with the spear woman, now all we need to do is close in on the other two."
With Lin and three squads dealing with each other in a different space, squads four and five were going to deal with Shen and Ya.
"For as crazy, egotistical and everything else Lin is. If nothing else, she is good at getting people's attention." Shen said.
"So I guess our job is to deal with the guys in there now. I'm gonna split up the room." Ya said.
"Cool, we'll deal with one and handle the other side after we're done." Shen said.
"Glad we are on the same page." Ya said as she formed two shields.
She stepped out making the shield enduring a barrage of arrows, this shield unlike the one Lin used was more transparent allowing both sides to see the other. She placed her other hand on the shield and the next moment a wall of ice erected from the ground reached the ceiling.
"Shen go now!" She called out.
"On it." Shen yelled as he charged forward with the other shield in hand, he did a quick scan of the room as he looked through the shield. "There are six here." he mumbled to himself.
He rushed the closest person who was reloading another clip of arrows. The impact caused the thug to drop his crossbow, seeing that this is his opportunity Shen pulled out a knife from his belt and stabbed the man in the rib causing any composure the thug may have had to disappear.
"Damn he's fast!" The thug yelled as he tried to get Shen off him by connecting punches on Shen face but to no success as Shen tanked each one.
"Don't worry I got him." Another thug said as he fired an arrow at Shen as it hit the side of his thigh.
Shen, understanding that this isn't the head to head combat he was used to in the base or back home, he quickly knocked out the thug under him before planting the shield in the ground giving him so much need breathing room.
"Where is Ya at?" He said as he quickly scanned the room.
He spotted her near the entrance still behind her shield, however she was facing toward the wall, but he couldn't see what she was doing.
"Damn, so I'm dealing with these guys solo. Who does she think I am, Lin?" He complained before focusing on the task.
He saw the last five thugs create some distance between them, not allowing Shen to easily cover the distance as they shot more arrows at the shield. Soon a crack appeared in the shield.
"It's now or never." Shen said as he steeled his resolve as he lifted the shield and rushed at the thugs going faster than he thought he could. As he moved forward he picked out an arrow that was on the floor and threw it connecting it with one of the thugs' knees.
'I got to thank the old man for teaching me how to throw things.' He thought as he took down the injured thug quickly knocking him out like the last one causing the fight to be a one versus four.
"If you can't beat them, join them." Shen said as he took the crossbow of the thug and started shooting at the other thugs quickly, making three of them unless by shooting their knees and hands. However he noticed that he was missing one of them.
As if the world was listening to his thoughts a sudden pain was burning on his side as he was sent flying into the wall.
'The hell was that' Shen thought as he gritted his teeth.
However he wasn't able to think further as an orange light quickly approached his face. Shen dodge at the last second as he saw the space his face just occupied crack under the impact of a fist covered in fire.
Shen got up and created some distance right away. He scanned the thug in front of him to see a person of large stature both fist covered in an orange light. Any animal features weren't visible due to the mask he was wearing.
"I don't know what hell they are feeding you guys in the police but whatever it is I need to get some." The thug said.
"Firstly, I'm not police but military." Shen said as he rolled up his sleeves "Secondly they don't feed me much in the military, I've just gotten my ass beat there." He said.
"So tragic. You think you can beat me by yourself, army boy?" The thug taunted while he got in a fighting position.
Shen could only smile at what he said. "Compared to that crazy woman I know you ain't shit." He declared.
