I'm the best :)
Sabrina sat frozen in place—an explosion of terror flooded her head as the man pulled back his coat and revealed a gun that was slankily tied around his waist with a thin yellow piece of rope. Then he satisfactily smiled and dropped his jacket as Sabrina started to painfully push herself off the hospital bed and onto the cold floor.
She wanted to scream—to run—but she knew with her legs aching from just standing up she'd have no chance of getting away. Sabrina took a deep-breath-what would her sister have done? What would she say? What would Mom say? What about Basil? What will they think happened to me?
"Who—who do you work for?" Sabrina practically whispered, fearing if she looked up at the man then her trembling legs would give in.
The man grievously smiled revealing his perfectly straight white teeth and then slowly stalked past Sabrina and towards the room's large window. He shuffled his large pale hand in one of his back-pockets for a moment and then pulled a small silver-colored needle out and pushed the tip of it directly in the middle of the window.
"What are you doing?" Sabrina said bluntly, not even thinking of her legs anymore. The man didn't make any notice of hearing Sabrina or even acknowledging she existed. He was just staring at the needle—then he closed his eyes and wrapped his fists around it and whispered something so quiet that if Sabrina hadn't seen his mouth move she wouldn't be sure he said anything.
Then he backed away from the window—but he wasn't holding the needle. Then Sabrina saw it—the needle was glowing purple and twisting rapidly as it stuck to the center of the window. The man turned and smiled furiously at Sabrina as she stood staring blankly at the twisting and turning needle—then a bright purple flash.
Sabrina closed her eyes in pain. She dropped to her knees and rubbed her eyes furiously. Then she felt a hand grab her arm and pull her up, forcing her to walk. Sabrina tried to open her eyes, but every time she tried she just saw a bright purple light and she'd have to shut them again.
Then Sabrina was falling down–down–down and then stop.
Sabrina was sure she was dead for a moment but then she heard a faint gruff of the strange man and Sabrina knew she wasn't anywhere as good as that. Then Sabrina knew she was moving again–except she wasn't sure how. The cold windy air was brushing against her face, although she wasn't walking—nor was she being carried. Was she flying?
Sabrina tried to open her eyes again through the painful purple light, but all she could make out was a blob of bright purple–and a faint dark shade of green. Sabrina closed her eyes again and could feel a tear from the pain run down her cheek.
"You sure this is her, Josh?" A woman spoke, her voice was light and silvery with an undertone of a New-Jersey accent. Then Sabrina heard a crack as if a stick was breaking.
"Who else would this be?" The man named Josh made a loud monotonous chuckle. "Course, you probably think it's a stand-in—-but I doubt it."
"Why? You didn't even get her blood!" The woman screeched through, what sounded like, gritted teeth.
Sabrina's stomach dropped. Blood? Sabrina tried opening her eyes again—this time it was less painful although she knew she couldn't keep it open long. Things were still blurry and blobs, but Sabrina knew for sure she was in a forest—and looking up at the sky.
"She isn't even that pretty like the boss said she'd be—" the woman continued, sounding as if she was climbing up something, "and did you see those zits! Horrendous."
Sabrina suddenly felt very self-conscious and wanted to cover her face with her hands, and then she realized how ridiculous she was being. Sabrina regretfully closed her pained eyes again and sighed. She started to regret everything she'd done—then she remembered all of the people and things she did and loved that her parents wanted her to forget—and a small voice inside her knew she regretted nothing at all.
"Bertha, we're just looking for kids that could be it—it don't have to be the exact one." Josh said, sounding annoyed.
"Don't look at me like that! You know we'd get a big time promotion if we caught the real one." Sabrina heard the woman, Bertha, say.
"Yeah, whatever. You know that I'll never happen." Josh grunted and then sounded like he started stomping on something hard. Sabrina opened her eyes again—this time everything was clear and painless.
Sabrina was facing the night sky, her blonde hair falling down towards the ground. She tried to turn her head and arms, but it was like it was glued in place. Sabrina also found that the voices were coming from a few feet below her and not next to her. Then it all hit her—she was floating.
"Hey! Look, I promise you're looking for somebody else—fact, bringing me to wherever you're going might get you in some trouble me being a detec—"
"Shut up, girl!" Bertha shouted up at Sabrina and then slammed her foot hard into something and cursed.
"Keep it down B." Josh said in a much quieter tone than he was using before.
"Hypocrite."
Then all fell silent. Not one word was said to the other for some time and the only sounds that came were from the crickets chirping and the walking of the two kidnappers walking loudly below Sabrina.
Sabrina desperately wanted to move around, or at least turn her head so she could see where she was going and the face of Miss perfect complexion Bertha—but she couldn't. It was like those limbs were completely useless and all she could do was stare up at the sky and the top half of oak trees.
Then the walking of the kidnappers stopped and then a sound like a very loud match lighting. Sabrina felt her body shift and slowly she knew she was able to move her fingers, and then her legs and arms and then—-Sabrina screamed.
She fell down, down, down, and onto the wet grass. Sabrina felt the shirking pain in her legs again and through the constant cracks in her neck she twisted it around and looked at the kidnappers.
Bertha was short and had a long neck with bob-cut length obviously dyed bright blonde hair. She was skinny and had very defined cheek-bones that looked like if they'd go any farther they'd give her serious teeth problems. Her nose was slim and pretty, although it had a lot of small scarring marks around it that looked very unnatural. She was wearing a deep-black hoodie with roses embroidered all over it and pressed tightly below was a bright red skirt that didn't look right on her slim figure.
"Gosh, she's even uglier looking at her from this angle." Bertha smiled as Sabrina ignored her and looked desperately around at her surroundings.
They were in the middle of the woods, no sign of existing people or objects. The moon was full and the stars were so bright that Sabrina saw no need in the flashlight that Josh was tightly holding.
"What are you going to do with me?" Sabrina said, turning back to the kidnappers that stood a few feet in front of her.
"We ain't' doing anything to you—you should worry bout' the boss and what It will do to you." Josh laughed loud and long that almost immediately Bertha looked agitated.
"The Queen isn't a it—this is why you'll never get a promotion," Bertha paused and turned away from Sabrina flicking her short blonde hair behind her, "and why when I get to be her personal favorite council member—you'll be the first to go." Bertha pointed her long pale fingers in Josh's direction and taped her small bright red heel on the grass.
"Ha! If the Queen didn't have her stupid little pet then her entire unloyal council would've slaughtered her ten times over." Josh moved towards the nearest tree and leaned on it. "The real Queen is her nasty little power maker."
Sabrina looked back and forth at both of them and then raised her thin eyebrows. What in the world? Sabrina shivered at both the thought of meeting either of the Queen s -and, of course, the fact that she was in a flimsy hospital dress in the cold winter air.
"The Grave is taking longer than usual." Bertha looked to the right of her as if expecting something to come out of nowhere.
The Grave? Sabrina thought fearfully as she resisted the urge to shake in the cool night air.
"Longer the better." Josh said, pulling a match out of his pocket and sticking it in his mouth.
"What do you mean the lon—" Bertha stopped and looked directly to the left of her. Josh stopped fishing in his deep-pockets for, what Sabrina presumed, a lighter and followed Bertha's silent gaze.
"What's going on?" Sabrina said without thinking and watched where Bertha and Josh were looking.
Then all of a sudden a quick silent gush of wind flew past and pushed Sabrina onto her back. Bertha took a few steps back and cursed as a silent rushing sound came closer and closer. Sabrina knew this was help—everything was going to be okay after all. A small smile appeared across her face.
"We're over here! Help!" Sabrina yelled, and wove her hands violently in the air. She tried to stand and managed to for only a moment when she collapsed back onto the ground. Although, that didn't affect her enthusiasm.
"See! You crazy people never win! Never." Sabrina looked over at Bertha and smiled. Then Bertha rolled her eyes and stopped tapping her heel as the sound of the roaring noise came louder. Then all of a sudden, the noise stopped.
"Reveal yourself, Hansel." Bertha said walking through a few tightly sewn together trees and towards where the noise stopped. Like Hansel and Grettle? Sabrina thought.
"No." Said a light invisible voice with a strong German accent. Sabrina pushed herself backwards and the look of fear persisted her once again.
"Now." Bertha bent over and knocked on something that sounded like glass.
"Why?" Said the invisible voice.
"Because I'll knock your skull out if you don't."
Then a sound like a bunch of loud gears turning together came from the spot and then whenthin a blink a deep-black beat up Range Rover appeared. Sabrina gasped a little louder than she meant too which clearly earned the satisfaction of the driver in the car, whom Sabrina couldn't see as Bertha was covering the entire window.
"See! You're—uh, prisoner—or…well…is that the girl?" The German accented man said.
"I don't know—didn't you meet the Grimms?" Bertha snapped opening the passenger car door and getting into the Range Rover.
Sabrina saw two things then—one of which was a bright white stripe spray painted on the passenger car door. Directly over it were the words written in bright bold 'THE GRAVE'. Sabrina also immediately confirmed her suspension of it being the Hansel, with his bright orange hair that stuck up in all directions and his long freckles dotted across his long chubby nose.
"Course, I've met some of the Grimms—just not her." Hansel said, looking directly at Sabrina through the half-opened car window.
"Whatever." Bertha looked at her nails and gave a disgusted look. "Josh, get her in here." She said after a minute waving her hands vagally towards the back seat.
Sabrina was pulled off the ground by the back of her hospital dress and practically dragged into the Range Rover with Josh scooting tightly next to her. Sabrina closed her eyes tightly and looked out the window as Hansel started the car—this day could not get any worse.
