Chapter 195 Warning
Sam and Dean headed to the Impala that Dean had parked on a side road and drove to the links car park. Pete was getting into a brown Peugeot, the only car in the lot. Sam grinned knowing Dean would laugh at the hunter's car choice. Dean followed behind Pete's car.
Dean knew what Sam was thinking. "I can't laugh, I think that model is made here. He's blending in."
"So we must stick out like a sore thumb." Sam laughed.
"We look like tourists, so we kind of blend in. Anything hinkey going on with him?" Dean glanced across to Sam as they went through a traffic light hot on Pete's tail.
"He seems okay. He looks like he uses that beard cream you tried to give Bobby."
Dean raised his eyebrows. "Yeah, the moustache is almost a work of art all turned up at the ends like that."
"So how far are we going tonight? Are we ready for a demon? And why do you have the blades?"
Dean sighed. "I didn't trust the workers to keep the apartment 100% safe so I took the most valuable hunting things we had, just in case. Sorry I didn't tell you. Truth be told I felt like an idiot doing it that's why I didn't tell you. Which is lucky since we are about to interrogate a demon. Do you think they know an exorcism?"
"The colt as well?"
Dean nodded.
"I understand. I took that silver knife I like. Let's stay together on this and just assess if they have the demon locked up tight before we do anything."
"Agreed. Can you call Bobby and report in? This is his hunt, he may want us to wait for him."
"On it." Sam went to work, quickly talking to the older hunter, and getting the go ahead to find out what they could.
Dean pulled the car up behind Pete's car 10 minutes later. He led the way to a large crypt. As he got to the door a small Mexican man came to meet him. Pete introduced him as Marco and the other hunter inside the crypt as Annabel. They had a small man of Mexican appearance standing inside the painted devils trap. The man was trying to get out but could walk around the circle but not cross the line. He straightened when Dean approached, staring at the hunter and ignoring the rest.
"Catalan. I heard you were on earth but never thought it true or that I would ever meet your majesty." He bowed slightly. "How can I be of service?"
Three of the hunters frowned at Dean in surprise.
"Well, you can tell me what is going on in the South."
The demon resisted so Dean muttered a few words of Latin making it scream in pain.
"Okay, Okay, I am calling demons to the south."
"What for?"
"I don't know."
Dean muttered again and again the demon screamed. Dean raised his eyebrows at Sam, this was a touchy demon. Likely very low in the chain.
"God I hate that pain. Human vessels are so weak." He stood with his hands on his knees. "Look, I swear, I'm just a messenger."
Sam stepped forward. "Why are you travelling and not doing a hive call?"
He sighed. "Orders. I've been told to travel like a human and keep our presence low. That's all I know, I swear."
Dean looked to the other hunters "This gel with what you have."
"It gels. We've been tracking him for a while. He's travelling with another demon but he's disappeared." Annabel spoke up.
Dean put his hands on hips and looked at Sam. "He doesn't know much. Do we talk to Egin or Cas?."
"Cas." The angel appeared three feet in front of Dean.
Sam and Dean automatically held their hands up to stop the three hunters from attacking on instinct. Dean stepped forward and enveloped Cas in a giant hug. "Good to see you, buddy. Wait, you know about Egin?"
Cass hugged back. "Yes, heaven knows who is in charge of hell. It has never been a human before but we are well positioned should we need it, like now."
Dean tilted his head at Cas, wanting him to go on.
"We don't know what is happening in the South. An angel has gone missing and we think it's related."
Sam stepped forward catching Cas up in a hug. "Is there something going on?" Cas hugged Sam a little stiffly but Sam couldn't blame him. After all he was responsible for breaking the last seal. He had been lucky that Lucifer hadn't made it out of the cage.
"I have been contacted by God through Joshua. Could we dispose of this man and talk, alone?"
Dean turned to the demon trap.
"Hmm, okay. Time for you to go, buddy."
"You guys right to take the vessel home?" Sam rubbed his hands together.
"I'll do it." Marco stepped forward.
Dean pointed his right forefinger at the short man. "Painless or not?"
"I'll go." He braced himself then opened his vessels mouth so the smoke poured out of the human and out the open crypt door.
The three hunters ducked but Sam and Dean were already catching the young man as he went into a dead faint. Marco and Pete carried the unconscious man out with Annabel bringing up the rear.
"So what's going on? What did Joshua tell you? And why is God not getting his thumb out of his ass and doing whatever this is himself?" Dean turned to Cas.
"He said that there is a traitor in heaven trying to raise Michael. We have spent a long time trying to find the traitor. We now think it's a faction covering for each other."
"Not this story again." Dean looked at the ground.
"That is all we know. God has chosen to warn us so we can only think it would be for an important reason."
"Well, Lucifer maybe?" Questioned Dean.
"Makes sense, Cas. That's why they wanted Michael last time." Sam added.
Cas sighed. "We don't know. We ask for your help, Dean."
"You want me to call Egin." Dean stated.
"It may help."
Sam stepped up and used his knife to break the seal on the Devils trap.
"What now?" Dean asked.
Sam and Cas looked at him.
"How?"
Cas walked to a bag on the floor and pulled out candles. Sam set about lighting them while Cas drew a sigil between them and gathered a bowl and filled it with herbs and bones from the bag. Cas held the bowl out to Dean.
"It's as you say, ad hoc, but it should work."
Sam held out a knife. Dean took it with a sigh.
