Ozz takes in a breath, twirling a leaf in his fingers as he reads a notification.

Lesser Tree Sprite- Components: Any tree leaves (2), Stick (1). Costs 2 mana.

Requirements met, you can now summon [Lesser Tree Sprite].

He wasn't sure at first, but this confirmed it.

He wasn't even aware that this would count, but when the system said he could summon almost anything, it wasn't lying. Standing, he lets out a groan as his back pops. Ozz looks at the sky and sees the sun hanging over him. Walking back to town, Ozz goes over what he knows.

For starters, there's a nobility system. Which, he isn't all that surprised, but the amount of power they hold is ridiculous. A lesser family could have someone arrested for no reason, and a major one could get away with just about anything. Most people don't even realize how much of a hold they have.

It puts things in perspective, how little anyone can do if they aren't an old family.

Another thing he found was the lack of any major crime. Oh, you'll find people who go against the Emperor by killing supporters, but they're so far in between that you hardly hear about them. He had to specifically look for them in the records, and nearly everybody else that was considered a high target was only one because they didn't join a Coven.

So, either there's a major lack of actual crime, or the Emperor's Coven is trying to repress information. Considering that this is a Disney show, he's leaning towards the former.

Ozz pauses, a sudden thought striking him. He doesn't know what he looks like. It's a guarantee that he's attractive, but what he looks like specifically is unknown to him. Walking into the market he spots a shop with glass. Making his way over he looks at his reflection.

The first thing that sticks out to him are the silver eyes. Which, okay, it wasn't all that surprising, but it's weird how he didn't get a skill for them. His hair is normal, being a healthy shade of brown with curls here and there.

The second was the fact he's younger than he thought he would be. Ozz doesn't remember how he died, but he's sure that it was in his mid twenties. His reflection looks like he's barely an adult, around 17 or so.

Other than the eyes, he looks like your standard citizen in Vale. Nodding, he looks around, his mind swirling with thoughts.

He could go back into the woods and mess with his magic, and that sounds like a better idea than dealing with whatever being here brings. Decision set Ozz waltz back into the forest, unaware of the pair of eyes looking at him.

Later

Spell Failed- Cannot summon [Saber(Mordred)]. Insufficient Stats and no spell components found.

Spell Failed- Cannot summon [Greater Seelie]. Insufficient mana and no spell components found.

Ozz huffs, scratching his head as he looks at the notifications. He should've expected this, but he didn't expect it to give him so little on what he needs. On the plus side he's close to summoning the Seelie. On the downside he has no idea what he needs to summon it.

A mote of light floats in his vision, and he smiles at the little creature as tension leaves his body. The sprites aren't all that great, but he found that they negate negative feelings. That alone is probably worth a lot in the long run. Leaning back he smiles as the tiger he summoned doesn't maul him. Its fur is soft and a great pillow to lean into.

"Right then, how about…Summon Owlbear?"

Spell Failed- Cannot summon Owlbear. Insufficient spell components.

Gee, thanks for the info. At least tell me what I need and not be a dick.

Components needed- Owl Feathers (8), Bear Claws (14).

Ozz groans, grabbing his head as a headache starts forming. He can't even find those here! Sighing, Ozz stands back up, pacing. He doesn't know what to do. Almost anything he can think of is either too much for him or can't gather the necessary components.

"Summon Abyss Watcher!"

Spell Failed- Cannot summon [Abyss Watcher]. Insufficient stats and mana. No spell components detected.

Growling, Ozz kicks a tree, cursing as pain shoots up his leg. System, what the fuck am I supposed to do?!

[You're picking things that are above you right now. Try something smaller. More earthbound.]

Something from earth. He can do that.

"Summon Panther." Ozz stops, the magic in him swirling before being drained.

Requirements met- You can now summon [Panther]. Costs 6 mana.

He blinks, staring at the panther that's in front of him. How did that work? He didn't even have any components on him.

[Mundane creatures only require mana to summon. You could summon a blue whale and you'd only need mana.]

Ozz takes in a breath, relief washing over him. That's good, he's not completely screwed over. Dismissing the panther he looks at the tiger, tugging on the string connecting us. It wakes up, walking over to him. Petting the cat on the head he walks further into the forest, spirit renewed.

"Now, what kind of animals would be useful? Oh, what about a honey badger? Those things are ferocious. Chimps are also useful, but I don't feel comfortable with using them." He shrugs, kicking a rock. A heavy thump makes him look to his right.

That's a person on the ground. More specifically, that's the Golden Guard. Ozz stares at them, confusion plastered on his face.

The Golden Guard also looks surprised, if his body language is to be believed. Neither move, and it's incredibly awkward. It's only broken when the Golden Guard scrambles to their feet. Ozz raises an eyebrow at his tiger, snorting when the feline just chuffs and sits.

Laughing, Ozz regards the Guard with a critical eye. "Hi there. You're not going to attack me, are you?" Because if they did, then he'd have to have the tiger attack, and he'd rather not have someone get mauled.

Standing, the Guard shakes their head. "No. Simply heading back to the castle after a mission. You'd best get back to town, human, the forest isn't a safe place. Farwell." Without getting to say anything back, the Golden Guard sprints back the way Ozz came from.

Well, that couldn't have been a coincidence.

"Summon Grima."

Spell Failed- Cannot summon [Grima]. Insufficient stats and mana. No spell components detected.

Can't say he didn't try. Scratching his head, Ozz shrugs and continues further into the forest.

As he's walking, tiger in tow, Ozz continues to think of what he could summon. He walks around in what seems like circles, talking to himself as the day passes.

"How about, summon gladius?" He stops, blinking as a sword appears in his hand. He can summon items?

Requirements met- You can now summon [Gladius]. Cost 4 mana

Warning: User is not compatible with item. Further usage will result in health reduction.

Ozz quickly dismissed the sword, eyes wide at the notifications. He can summon items, but he can't even use most if not all of them. How dumb is that? Humming, Ozz looks around the forest, only to frown when he doesn't recognize where he is. It's already nearing night, and he can hear things moving about.

Not wanting to get eaten, he climbs up a tree, the tiger helping him up.

Getting to a safe enough height, he dismisses the tiger, summoning a panther. The animal lays on top of Ozz, purring as he pets the back. While this is nice, he hasn't eaten in three days. Water isn't an issue, a lake nearby solves that problem.

No, the issue is that he can't find anything edible. He tried to eat the local food, but he vomited nearly 20 minutes later. It doesn't help that nearly all the demons want to eat him. Seriously, the amount of demons who want to know what humans taste like is concerning.

He hums, scratching the panthers head. He couldn't summon food, could he?

"Summon apple."

Requirements met- You can now summon [Apple]. Cost 1 mana.

Notice: Eating anything you summon will consume your mana.

Ozz smiles, looking at the apple in his hand. Okay, this solves his food problem. All he needs is to just find shelter.

That can wait though, right now he needs sleep.

One Week Later

"What are you doing here?" Ozz stops his reading, looking at the youngest Blight. She's glaring at him, arms crossed as she holds a kids book in one hand.

Which, okay, it's a good question. He's reading a kids book in the kids area. Not exactly against the rules, but it's weird to look at. Especially when he's surrounded with books.

Huffing, Ozz closes the book he was reading, something about a tinman. "If you must know, I wanted to know what the kids here read. Not gonna lie, pretty underwhelming." Standing, he tosses the book with the rest of them. Looking around, he snorts when he makes eye contact with a toddler.

Amity growls at his lack of attention, grabbing his arm and dragging him away. "Listen human, I don't know what you're playing at, but I am not going to lose my job because you wanted to be a nuisance." Blinking, Ozz just let's himself be dragged away.

"Would you lose your job? I wasn't exactly doing anything wrong, except for leaving books out." He raises an eyebrow. "Is this cause of last time? I already said I'm sorry, I didn't really expect those kids to lose focus with my panther."

Which he should have, but those ankle biters didn't have a shred of fear even though the feline let out a warning growl. Hell, it bit one, and the kid just laughed and shrugged it off like it was nothing. He learned something that day.

Braxus is not one to trifle with.

Amity doesn't say anything, leading him towards the entrance. Ozz just shakes his head, mind drifting over to his plan for the day.

He overheard some rumors that there was a mysterious tome on a pedestal near the left foot. Anyone who tried to approach it would be attacked by a person in strange armor. Details were vague, but the quest he got out of it makes it somewhat worth it.

Moderate Quest

Tome of Mystery- Rumor has it that a tome is being protected by a knight. What exactly it is nobody knows, but it must contain some powerful magic since it's guarded, right? Beat the knight, you get the book.

Reward: Mysterious Tome, 3 Spell Components, 1 lesser summon.

Failure: Mysterious Tome is lost, and receive penalty towards Exp.

Quest area has been marked.

Ozz stumbles as he's thrown out of the library, jumping back when the doors to the library are slammed shut. Glaring at the door he shakes his head, turning back and heading towards the area.

While he's walking, he lists off animals and sees if he can summon them.

Requirements met- You can now summon [Crocodile]. Cost 11 mana.

Requirements met- You can now summon [Velociraptor]. Cost 18 mana.

Spell failed- Cannot summon [Tyrannosaurus Rex]. Insufficient mana.

Spell failed- Cannot summon [Triceratops]. Insufficient mana.

Now that is odd. He can summon a raptor, but can't summon a triceratops? You'd think an intelligent predator would be more than a trike, but he can't really complain.

On the walk there he tries to summon more dinosaurs, but is met with the same thing. Not enough mana, but he doesn't know how to get more mana. System, would items that boost mana preserves work on me?

[Yes and no. If you summoned an item that boosted your mana, it'd have no effect. If you found an item that you didn't summon, like a galderstone, then it would boost your mana.]

Good to know.

It's midday by the time he makes it to the area. The area is void of any plant life, scorch marks from the previous battles still smoldering. In the center of the clearing is a pedestal, a book that has glowing gems resting on top of it. Ozz briefly glances at it before looking at the knight, and tensing upon recognizing who it is.

"Ah, a new challenger I presume?"

There are many things that Ozz forgot when he died. The face of his mother, names of his family pets, movies that he loved for most of his life. Then there's the stuff that he didn't forget.

One of those things was the famous armor that Knights of Catarina wore. The roundness that covers them, the valor instilled to their very beings. That sword, the one used to slay Yhorm, King of The Giants, a Lord of Cinder.

Mini-Boss Detected

Siegward of Catarina

Level: 33

HP: 87/87

Shit.

"I must say, you are younger than the last ones." Siegward shakes his head, armor clanking as he gets into a stance. "Ready your weapon Squire, or return from where you came. I will count to 5 before commencing the duel. One."

Ozz looks around, cursing when he sees a fog surrounding the clearing. He couldn't leave if he wanted to, the damn system is keeping him from leaving. His mind races a mile a minute, searching for a way out of this.

"Two."

Fuck! "Summon Goblin!"

Spell failed- You cannot summon-

God damnit! Ozz panics, jumping in place as his eyes dart around.

"Three."

There has to be something. Something that doesn't cost much that isn't an animal from earth. "Summon Lesser Fire Elemental!" Ozz takes in a breath as his mana reserves dip to nothing. Stumbling, he groans as his vision swims with stars as a bright flash blinds him.

Lesser Fire Elemental- Components: Dried leaves (16), Dried sticks (7). Cost 22 mana.

Requirements met- You can now summon [Lesser Fire Elemental].

"Four. Five!" Ozz hears Siegward's armor clanking as he charges, and he's roughly tugged out of the way from a slash. He scrambles to his feet, looking at the swirling mass of fire that's between him and Siegward.

Siegward looks at the creature, a hum rumbling in his throat. "Fascinating, channeling the flame in such a way." He charges again, and the flames attack as best they can, engulfing the man in flames.

Ozz keeps his distance, eyes wide as the elemental does its best to keep him at bay. Siegward tries to attack it, but his sword passes through, the flames morphing around the blade.

HP: 81/87

It's barely doing any damage, but it's doing something.

Siegward roars, slamming his sword in the ground. "ENOUGH! I will not be taken down by such cowardly acts!" Ozz flinches, shivering at the raw fury dripping from his words. The knight pulls out a cloth, the fabric somehow not being burned as a golden light forms from his other hand.

His world goes white.

Ozz lets out a wheeze as a searing pain erupts from his stomach. An orange sheen glows across his body, wobbling before settling into a dull orange.

Damaged Halved!

20 hit points reduced!

Hits until [Aura] shatters: 2

Holy shit, he'd be dead without aura. Ozz's knees shake as he struggles to stand. A pang of distress over the connection warns him, and he rolls to the left, dodging a disc of light. He knows spells. That's not good.

HP: 55/87

Coughing, Ozz forces himself to stand, hobbling towards the book. "Grab his hands, try and keep him from casting spells!" The response he gets is one of determination.

"Oh no you don't!" Siegward yells, going to cast a spell only for fire to engulf his hands. The gaunlants melt as the elemental focuses its entire body mass on his hands.

HP: 47/87

Ozz nearly makes it to the book, but is nearly toppled over when his elemental yanks him from a shoulder check. He hisses when he turns at an unnatural angle, the wound on his stomach flaring. He takes in a deep breath as he stares Siegward down, his lungs burning. His armor is misshapen to all hell, the metal molten in some spots as the elemental continues to cling onto him.

HP: 30/87

"In all my years, never have I been humiliated like this. You hide behind such a cowardly spell, are untrained, and couldn't even take a single hit!" The metal of his armor melts, the elemental taking the chance and covering him wholly.

HP: 8/87

Siegward chuckles, sitting on the ground as he's consumed by flames. "You've won, but was it worth it?"

HP: 0/87

Knight Felled.

You have leveled up by 9x.

Quest Complete!

You've beaten your first boss, hooray! Though what Siegward said is rather bleak, you managed to beat him, and only at level one to boot as well!

Reward: Mysterious Tome, 3 Spell components, 1 Lesser Summon.

Rolling…

.

..

Acquired components- Mist Grass Wick (2), Great Wolf Blood (1), Luminite Ore (6)

Acquired- [Lesser Electro Slime]. Cost 20 mana.

Ozz let's out a breath, hobbling over to the book and grabbing it. He feels a pulse as a warm feeling washes over him as his fingers touch the cover of the book. He blinks when a message comes into his vision.

Your first Item! How exciting!

A Tacticians Guide to Herding Sheep- While wielding this book, you can temporarily summon any character from [Fire Emblem: Awakening]. This book has 2 charges and resets after a long rest.

Oh, that's really nice. It sucks that he had to kill Siegward, and what he said stung, but he had to do what he had to do. Can't mope over something that's out of his control.

Sitting down, he places the book in his lap. The fire elemental curls around him in a protective shell, keeping him warm as the sun starts to set. Sighing, he looks at his stat sheet.

Satisfied, Ozz leans against the pedestal, wincing when his injury flares. The pain is dulled, and his aura is doing its best to heal whatever it can.

Ozz lets out a yawn, the warmth around him making his sleepy. A few minutes of rest surely won't hurt, right? So with one last yawn, he closes his eyes, the adrenaline crash making him pass out immediately.

He doesn't notice a person wearing a bat mask in the bushes, watching with narrowed eyes.

Have a good rest of your day.
