What If...Peanut Hamper Really Redeemed Herself?

Before we begin this chapter, I would like to address a review of Chapter One by site user "StrikerJ," which applauded my observance of naval tradition in the text of the orders read at Peanut Hamper's promotion to Lieutenant.

They said, "Happy to see Naval tradition observed in such a manner and am grateful for the time you must have taken to learn about it." Here's the true story.

I am a member of Shadow Riders, a Fleet (guild) in the PlayStation4 version of Star Trek Online, which has a number of veteran members of the United States Armed Forces among its membership.

As a result, we follow a military-based chain of command and protocol structure. For example, when we hold promotion ceremonies, the promotion warrant used is virtually identical to the warrant read by Captain Freeman to Peanut Hamper in Chapter One. The only major differences are the usage of the Stardate dating system used in Chapter One compared to the Gregorian dating system used in standard U.S. military promotion warrants.

Thank you, StrikerJ, and to all of you reading. You are really making me happy to write for this site again for the first time in a long time.

Keep those reviews and PMs coming and enjoy this new chapter!

Note: This chapter is meant merely as a transition to the next four-chapter arc, covering the What If version of the Lower Decks episode "Crisis Point II: Paradoxus."

"A Mathematically Perfect Redemption" to "Crisis Point II: Paradoxus"

T'Ana, the Caitian chief physician of the Cerritos, watched as D'Vana Tendi led Peanut Hamper and Rawda into Sickbay.

"And this, Ambassador Rawda, is our medical care facility, which we call Sickbay," Tendi said.

Rawda let out a whistle as he looked around the room. T'Ana let out a gasp when she saw Peanut Hamper. "I had heard that you were back aboard," T'Ana said.

"Hello, Dr. T'Ana," Peanut Hamper said. "Rawda, this is Dr. T'Ana. She is the chief physician of the Cerritos...and my former boss."

"Since I heard you were back...and holding the Medal of Valor on top of that, I figured you would be perfect for a major opening on my staff," T'Ana said.

"What do you mean, Doctor?" Peanut Hamper said.

"Lieutenant Rowsey, my chief nurse, just left to join the staff at Starfleet Medical on Earth," T'Ana said. "And following your heroics down on Areolus, I figured, 'What the [Bleep]?' and make you my new chief nurse, Lieutenant Peanut Hamper."

"Are you serious?" Peanut Hamper said.

"I would not be making the offer if I were not serious," T'Ana said. "How about it?"

"Do what's best for you, my love," Rawda said. "I shall stand by you no matter what you choose."

"Who the [Bleep] is this?" T'Ana said.

"This is Rawda, a member of the Areolan species...and my husband under both Areolan and Federation law. I have already uploaded my examinations of their physiology into the Cerritos's computer. I also just introduced him to you. You just weren't paying attention," Peanut Hamper said. "Now, as regards your offer to become your head nurse...I would be honored."

T'Ana smiled. "Computer, this is Dr. T'Ana, chief medical officer. Log the transfer of Lieutenant Peanut Hamper from Gamma Shift Medical Technician to Head Nurse, effective immediately."

"Transfer recorded," the computer said.

"I don't know what to say, Doctor," Peanut Hamper said. "Except...thank you."

"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome," T'Ana said. "Now cut the sappy crap and get back to your honeymoon, you two. I'll see you in a week."

Rawda then walked up to T'Ana. "Doctor, I personally would like to thank you for giving my wife this opportunity," he said. "I swear to you that she will never let you down."

"Yeah, yeah, get the [Bleep] out of here," T'Ana said.

Tendi smiled at Peanut Hamper and Rawda. "Let's head on over to Cetacean Ops," she said. "I'm sure Kimolu and Matt will be happy to see you again, Peanut Hamper."

Personal Log, Lieutenant Peanut Hamper, Chief Nurse, Stardate 59750.4.

I shudder to think what my life would be right now if I had sent that transmission to the Drookmani. Now, I realize that I made the right decision in standing with the Areore.

I am married to an amazing man; I am now the chief nurse on the Cerritos; and who knows what else will come in the future?

Hopefully, Father will be proud of me...whatever I do.

"Lieutenant Peanut Hamper, I known you're still...officially...on your honeymoon, but please report to Sickbay. Your assistance is required with a patient," a voice said.

"Understood. I'm on my way," Peanut Hamper said. Peanut Hamper floated out of hers and Rawda's quarters.
