"Princess, the coast is clear." A pink-haired girl with blue eyes, dressed in a maid's outfit with shackles on her wrist bowed and said with a stoic expression to the blonde in front of her.
"Thank you Virgo," replied Lucy, wearing a white poofy dress, actually a wedding dress, and a white veil. "Gemini," she whispered. "Now it's up to you." The twin spirits appeared and, with a poof, mirrored the appearance of their Master, taking the bouquet from their hand.
Today was the day Lucy Heartfillia was to wed the heir of the Junelle Cooperation. She tried to put off the marriage as much as possible. She was surprised she was able to delay for 6 years. Marrying at the age of 23 was considered old and frowned upon. But alas, she could not delay any further. The vassals of her father's company had enough and would constantly guilt trip Lucy. That it was her father's dying wish to have an heir to succeed in the company and marry the son of the Junelle company. It was why she agreed to the engagement in the first place. But the closer the wedding date came, the more Lucy dreaded her fate. She knew becoming the wife of Junelle would be restricting for her.
They may have had their ups and downs, but Lucy knew her father would not want this for her, being an ornament on a shelf. Lucy was smart and there was no way she would let an idiot like Junelle's son take all the credit for her hard work. It took a while for Lucy to bring the company from bankruptcy back to the successful way it was in the beginning. The mansion was her childhood home. It was time for her to explore the world and gain more knowledge. It certainly would make great material for her novel. Traveling is the best way to do it.
Lucy already had a plan in place in case the vassals thought she was abandoning them. Her assistant will act as the fief lord until Lucy finishes her travels. She wasn't going to let a man tie her down and forbid her from expanding her mind.
"Stupid dress," murmured Lucy, grabbing the desk to steady herself when she almost tripped over her skirt. All the furniture in the center of the room was placed to the side for Lucy's next step in her plan.
"Please work," she whispered, grabbing a key from her keyring and clasping it in her hand. It took her a while to obtain this key. She brought it close to her lips and kissed it for good luck. "I summon thee, Aquila the Eagle!"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh," screamed Lucy as she fell through the sky, flailing her limbs in the air and her hair flying behind her, opening from its fancy hairdo. Stupid bird! How was she supposed to know that Aquila had a time limit when it came to carrying passengers to their destination? Lucy usually would take the time to get to know her spirits, but this was an emergency. When she heard the knock on the door, her maid calling her from the other side, Lucy panicked and climbed onto Aquila's back, not even bothering to change out of the dress. Thank god he was big enough to carry her and that Virgo stashed her stuff in the Celestial Spirit World. He didn't question her and obeyed Lucy when she pointed towards the train station. Lucy was about to scream in joy when Aquila murmured the time limit was up and disappeared with a poof. It was only 5 minutes! She was so close to the outskirts of the town and the train station was in sight. However, there was barely anyone on the ground. Obviously, since everyone was attending 'the wedding of the century.'
Lucy closed her eyes, clutching her keys to her chest, praying that one of her spirits would pop out and catch her.
"Bossman, that job was simple. Give me something more challenging next time." Bickslow turned towards his friend and started walking backwards. He stuck his tongue out, showing his guild mark. Laxus remained stoic as ever as they walked towards the train station.
This was the first time in a while that it was just him and Laxus on a mission. It was fairly simple. An aristocrat claimed a ghost was haunting his mansion in Alcaphya. Instead of informing the lord of the situation, he contacted Fairy Tail. Since Bickslow was a Seith mage and the mission was S-Class, it only required the two of them. Bickslow talked with the ghost, which was the spirit of a young child, and helped them enter the afterlife.
"There was nothing easy about that," murmured Laxus with a grimace. He recalled the client's daughter and how she constantly clung to his side, talking in a high-pitched, annoying, snobby voice.
"You just need to work on your social skills. Soon you'll be able to get a girlfriend that's not a psychopath." Contrary to what many people believed, Laxus was awkward around girls.
Laxus scoffed. "Yes, because the problem is my social skills." He rolled his eyes in annoyance. "I can't even get to know a girl before I realize she's a fan."
"It is a first step, though."
"Yes," said Laxus sarcastically, raising his hands in the air in a catching manner. "Once I improve my social skills, a beautiful woman will fall right into my arms."
Not even a second after Laxus made that comment, Laxus felt something fall into his arms. White and gold blinded his face. He tried to shake it out of his face, since it obscured his vision. "What the hell?!"
Instead of the cold, hard ground, Lucy felt something warm envelop her and a pair of strong arms surrounding her. She opened her eyes, noticing she was near the ground, safe and sound. "I'm alive," she muttered, patting herself down as if she couldn't believe it. "I'm alive," giggled Lucy in glee. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" Lucy realized someone noticed her falling and caught her. She wrapped her arms around her savior, not realizing her boobs were right in his face.
Laxus's face flushed red when he felt something soft against his face. It took him a second to realize what it was. "Ummm. Uhhhh." He was conflicted. Laxus was happy and uncomfortable at the same time. This person smelled so nice. Like fresh strawberries.
Bickslow looked up at the sky and back towards the two blondes as if he couldn't believe what had just happened. This hot blonde woman just appeared before him and right after, Laxus made that joke of having women falling into his arms. "God please," prayed Bickslow, closing his eyes and spreading his arms out in a catching manner. "If you're out there, send me a pair of hot twin sisters!"
A tumbleweed passed by. Bickslow let out a frustrated groan. "I knew it was too good to be true. Hey Lady," he called out to Lucy. "I'd appreciate it if you don't suffocate my friend with your boobs. I mean, it wouldn't be a bad way to die for me personally, but Bossman's too young to die."
"Eeeep!" Lucy let out a shriek when she realized how intimate the position was. "I'm so sorry," apologized Lucy, waving her hands frantically in the air. Feeling herself about to fall, she rested her arms on Laxus's shoulders, which caused him to adjust their position. It was more of a bridal carry, their faces at eye-level. "My new spirit was supposed to carry me to the train station but there was a time limit and I fell," rambled Lucy, her cheeks turning red when she realized how handsome and muscular the man in front of her was. Get a hold of yourself, girl! Lucy berated herself. You escaped one man just to fall into the arms of another?!
"Spirit," questioned Laxus, finally opening his mouth, further intrigued by this blonde angel who fell from the sky. She was beautiful. "Are you a celestial mage?" Her current attire was strange. Then again, he did hear, based on Loke's stories, that celestial mages tended to be eccentric.
Before Lucy could open her mouth and answer Laxus's question, a group of footsteps and voices interrupted her. Damnit! They came faster than I thought! Lucy thought it would take them longer to realize she was missing.
"Young Miss! What are you doing?!" It was the vassals. Many of them are red and sweating due to running in fancy clothing and white wigs. "The ceremony?!" The scream of the maid caused them to barge into the lady's room where they realized she went missing.
Lucy glanced at her vassals as they approached closer and back to the man in front of her. Desperate times call for desperate measures. "Sorry for this," she whispered, staring deeply into stormy blue eyes. "I need your help once more. I'll make sure you're well-compensated." She gently cupped the man's cheeks with her hands. Lucy inferred they were mages. She'll be sure to reward them during her travels.
Before Laxus could get any word in, he was cut off by the angel pressing her lips against his. Instinctively, Laxus closed his eyes and kissed her back, bringing her body close to his. His hand tangled in her hair, wrapping his strong arm around her waist, and slowly caressed her hips with his hand. Her hair fell loose from her updo, falling down in waves down her back. If this was the compensation she was talking about, Laxus certainly wasn't going to complain.
Bickslow's jaw and the vassals' eyes went wide open at the two blondes going at it. This is so not fair! Bickslow wailed internally. Bossman always gets the hot ones! And she's super hot! Probably rich too! Bicklow surmised that the lady was running away from an arranged marriage based on her attire and the appearance of the vassals.
Laxus felt disappointed when the angel broke the kiss and got down from his arms to talk to the nobles. He did feel pride though when he noticed her flush red and breathless from their kiss.
Lucy approached her vassals to give them her lady stern. "I told you many times that I did not want this marriage. This man is my lover." Lucy pointed to Laxus, whose eyes went wide at that announcement. She hoped he would play along and stay quiet. Hopefully, her vassals will believe the lie. "I wish to travel and gain more knowledge and experience in the world."
"Fine, my lady, we'll call off the wedding. Just please come back," begged one of her vassals. "We won't bother you about marriage until you feel that you are ready." Lucy was one of a kind. Her territory was one of the most suitable to live in and flourished under her rule. "Who will run things without you around?!"
"I won't be gone long," replied Lucy, unwavered in her decision. "Besides, my assistant will act in place until I come back. I've gotten most of the important work done already." The all-nighters she pulled better be worth it and she trusted her assistant. He was bright and already knew the territory like the back of his hand. There is no one more capable.
Before her vassals could say anything further, Lucy ran up to Laxus and grabbed his hand, guiding him towards the train station, with Bickslow following afterwards. Once she got to the train station, she let go of his hand and thanked Laxus with a curtsy. Seeing a train arrive, Lucy boarded the train, leaving the two men behind.
A few hours later
"What's wrong with them?" Evergreen pointed to Laxus, who was beet red and Bickslow, who was grabbing his hair in frustration, ranting about nonsense.
"I have no clue," replied Freed, with tears in his eyes. "Something must have happened during the mission! I've never seen Laxus like this! What if someone took advantage of him?! What if.."
"Pffft. Shut up, Freed!" Bickslow finally lifted his head to glare at his friend. "Taken advantage of? Please! If anything, Bossman experienced God's miracle!"
"What's that supposed to mean," spluttered Laxus, finally speaking. Ever since the meeting with the blonde, she's been on his mind constantly. He wanted to learn about her considering she was a mage.
"Bossman! Did you seriously not see how hot she was?! Or were you too distracted by the fact the two of you were sucking each other's face off?! This is so not fair! I want hot blonde women to fall from the sky and into my arms as well," wailed Bickslow dramatically.
"That was just a coincidence!"
"An amazing coincidence!" Bickslow hastily explained to Freed and Evergreen what happened after their mission.
"How dare she take advantage of you," said Freed angrily, his aura growing dark as he put his hand on his rapier, drawing it out in a threatening manner. "I shall defend your honor, Laxus-sama."
"Stop Freed. My honor is fine!" Laxus convinced Freed to put his rapier away and sit down. "It's not like I hated it," he murmured shyly, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Oh ho! So you didn't hate it," teased Evergreen. "Did you get the name of your blonde angel?"
"Everything happened so fast," explained Laxus. All of a sudden, he heard loud chatter coming from downstairs. Many voices were raised and everyone was talking at once. It was hard to distinguish them all.
"Hey! What's with the commotion?!" Bickslow yelled from above. Loud chatter was usually common during the guild but Bickslow still felt slightly jealous and bitter from the encounter from this morning.
"Loke brought a really hot girl with him! She's going to become a member of the guild," replied Wakaba with hearts in his eyes. Wakaba couldn't complain since all the women in Fairy Tail were beautiful. The more the merrier. Free eye candy.
With Lucy
"I was wondering what took you so long." Loke smiled and approached Lucy, who was wearing more of a casual style with her hair in a high ponytail. "I hope there weren't too many difficulties convincing the old farts, my love!" Loke grabbed Lucy's hand and pressed his lips against her wrist.
"You know I have my ways with words. I wouldn't be this successful in my businesses," giggled Lucy with a smile. "When can I start my travels?" She was trying to ignore all the staring and chatter around her. Lucy was familiar with this type of scene, so it was nothing new. They were probably just curious as to who she was.
"Ah yes," nodded Loke. "The best way to experience the world and different cultures is through a guild. Not only will you have a source of income, you'll encounter a variety of people." It was the perfect plan. In a way, he was still able to watch over his beloved princess.
"Sounds fascinating!" Lucy's eyes sparkled. She always wanted to join a guild when she was younger and, although temporarily, she can fulfill that childhood dream.
"State your name!" A loud, stern voice approached them from behind. It was a group of four people. Two male and two females. One of the men had salmon-colored hair, and the other had black-hair who was in the process of taking off his shirt. The red-haired woman was wearing knight armor and the blue-haired one was twiddling her thumbs.
"What Erza means to say," clarified Gray, coming close to give Loke a bro hug, and a raised a hand towards Lucy for a handshake. "... is that she is curious about the potential new member of the guild and would like to get to them better?"
"Oh," blinked Lucy owlishly and nodded in understanding. She placed a hand on her chest and smiled. "My name is Lucy and I would like to join Fairy Tail." Lucy didn't want to lie, but the woman's voice startled her. "It is an honor to meet someone as inspiring as you and a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She was trying to keep her cool because this was THE Erza. Every woman in Fiore looked up at her.
Erza flushed red at the compliment while the others introduced themselves, even though Lucy already knew their names.
"So Luigi! How old are you? How do you know Loke? What kind of magic do you use? Are you strong? Let's see who's stronger?" Natsu started to bombard Lucy with questions when Erza slammed the bottom of her fist on the top of Natus's head, effectively knocking him out cold.
Lucy kept a neutral expression on her face while everyone else sweatdropped at Erza's antics. Erza wiped the dust from her hands. "You must not be rude to our guest. I apologized for his actions. Natsu will be well-disciplined later. However, I am curious about you as well."
"My name is Lucy and I am 23 years old. The second and third question I can answer together." Lucy grabbed her keys from his waist to show the group. "I am a Celestial Spirit Mage. I am able to summon spirits from the spirit world by using my magic to open their gate with their key and creating a contract with them. Loke's real name is Leo. He is the leader of the 12 Zodiac and my most trusted companion. And my strongest spirit," she finished proudly, giggling when Loke's chest puffed with pride. "That's the basic explanation of my magic."
"What's the not so basic explanation of Celestial Spirit Magic?"
"There's still a lot of mystery and unknown surrounding it," explained Lucy. "Depending on the user's skill and magic ability, your actions can be limited."
"Explain."
"I think a visual representation might help." Lucy pulled 3 keys from her keyring. "This is a silver key. They are common and easy to obtain. It doesn't require a lot of magic and effort to summon them. Plue!"
A cloud of smoke faded and out popped a tiny, white, shaking creature that resembled a snowman. "Pun pun," greeted Plue with a wave.
"Awwwwwww," cried the ladies of Fairy Tail at the appearance of the adorable spirit. "It's so cute. What is its name," one asked.
"His name is Plue." Lucy smiled at the interest the guild members were having about her magic. "He is a companion spirit." She called the second key in her hand. "Open, Gate of the Maiden, Virgo."
In front of her stood a pink-haired girl with blue eyes, dressed in a maid's outfit. On her wrists were shackles. Virgo bowed and said with a stoic expression, "Punishment Princess?"
Lucy sweatdropped at her spirit's antics. "No, Virgo! No punishment." Way to make a good impression on her guild mates. "Virgo is the maiden spirit and can use Earth magic. She is one of the twelve zodiacs like Loke."
Lucy raised the third key and brought it towards her chest. She transformed into her Star Dress Aries Form. Her hair was in two side ponytails with ram horns sitting aside her head. Her current attire comprised a pink and white woolen dress with a woolen scarf wrapped around her neck. "Voila!" Lucy conjured a wool cushion where Plue and the exceeds immediately started jumping on it.
"Is this a form of requip," asked the Master, joining the group. "I never heard of Celestial Magic like this before."
"Not exactly." Lucy scratched the side of her cheek sheepishly. "This is what I meant when I said it's based on magic ability. I have reached the level where I am able to use my spirit's magic as my own through the spell Star Dress." It took a lot of work and hard practice for Lucy to get to the level she was currently. All those magic lessons with her spirits really paid off.
Lucy dispelled her magic and sent Virgo back to the spirit world. Seeing Plue make some friends, she lets him stay longer and play on a wool cushion. She approached the Master sitting on the counter of the bar. "I would like to join Fairy Tail, Master Makarov!"
"Oh ho! Where would you like the guild stamp?" The Master loved it when new members joined, especially the ones that were pretty.
"On my hand please and in pink!" Lucy raised her hand and when the Master stamped, she couldn't help admiring it. I'm actually a part of Fairy Tail! I should get settled in the city and go on my very first mission.
"Let's get you settled in and tomorrow we can go on our first mission. Tell you what, I'll let you pick the mission." Loke winked at Lucy and struck a pose as he sparkled.
"I can't wait," nodded Lucy in excitement. "Let me grab Plue. Plue!" Lucy noticed the wool cushion was gone, and that Plue was nowhere to be seen. "Plue!" She would have felt Plue go back to the Spirit World. This meant he was still in the guild.
Meanwhile upstairs
"The hell is this thing?" Laxus looked at the shaking white thing in his hands. One second he was talking to his group, the next he noticed this white thing fall right on the table they were sitting at. What was with today and everything falling right in front of him?
"Pun pun!" Plue raised his hand in the air with a wave. He tapped Laxus's arms, signaling to him he wanted to be put down. He walked over to the plate stacked with pancakes and in one gulp, swallowed the whole thing. His belly became bigger as he rubbed his stomach in satisfaction.
"How dare you eat Laxus-sama's meal?!" Freed glared at the spirit whose eyes were closed, snores coming out of his mouth.
"Shhh. Freed. It's sleeping." Laxus can just order more food. "But what is it?" He was curious. He's never seen anything like it before and there was something familiar about it. Laxus wasn't sure if it was the magic or the smell, but it reminded him of the girl from this morning.
"Plue! There you are," a worried voice broke Laxus from his inner musings and his eyes widened when he noticed it was the girl from this morning. He tried to calm the beating of his heart. "I was so worried." Lucy noticed the man looked familiar. "Thank you, again! I didn't know you were a part of this guild."
"He flew up here all of a sudden. After giving him some pancakes, he fell asleep." Laxus felt his cheeks grow warm at Lucy's change in attire. They really emphasized the curves she had, and it was nice to visualize what he felt was real. "You left in a hurry before I could introduce myself. I'm Laxus."
"My name is Lucy," chirped Lucy with a smile. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I just joined the guild today. Please take care of me." Lucy sent Plue back to the Celestial Realm.
"You have any questions. Just let me know. I wouldn't mind showing you around." Inner Laxus was jumping for joy when he realized he could see more of Lucy.
Meanwhile, the Thunder Legion's jaw dropped at Laxus's statement. Laxus never offered to show the newbies around.
"Thank you, Laxus. I will keep that in mind." Lucy was about to head downstairs when Laxus's voice stopped her.
"You know, we never talked about the compensation you were going to give me for helping you back there." Laxus smirked when Lucy flushed red. Good. It looks like he wasn't the only one affected by the kiss.
"W-what did you have in mind?"
"Once you are back from your first mission, let me take you out to dinner."
Lucy turned even more red and nodded shyly. "T-take care. I-i will see you around." Lucy practically ran out of place with smoke coming out of her ears.
"Welcome to Fairy Tail, Lucy," whispered Laxus with a smile.
