VolumeIII: The Looter
Note: This will be the second chapter of Volume III, this chapter will continue off from the previous chapter as Spider-Man and Miles Morales finally meet each other. Miles asks Spider-Man to train him as his new sidekick, but Spider-Man refused at first until he gets convinced by Madame Web to train Miles himself. Spider-Man will have issues trusting himself and his secret with Miles as he trains him, he will also have doubts about himself being a mentor to Miles. Meanwhile, Norton Fester is a meteoriticist from Empire State University who will gain powers from exposure of the chemicals in the meteorites, he becomes the villain called the Looter or the Meteor Man as he preferred. Spider-Man will struggle to be the mentor to Miles and fight off this new villain. Madame Web has foreseen the future of Miles Morales as well as Mary Jane Watson. Gwen Stacy improves on her looks for Peter, but she would ask Mary Jane to be there for Peter while she couldn't be as something more.
Its September 8th at 9:30 PM as Miles finally meets his hero Spider-Man in person who just saved his life from Tombstone.
"You're... you're Spider-Man!" Miles is shocked.
"And who are you?" Spider-Man asking for the name of this kid.
"I'm Miles, Miles Morales. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Spider-Man." Miles getting nervous meeting his hero.
"Nice to meet you, Miles. Are you okay by the way?" Spider-Man asking Miles.
"Yeah, just got thrashed around by the big guy, but otherwise I'm fine, thank you for asking." Miles told Spider-Man.
"I know, I was there in time to save you before Tombstone hammered you, you're lucky to be alive, kid." Spider-Man told Miles.
"So why did you come? You hardly come around Brooklyn." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Oh, I was just curious as to who was going around Brooklyn using my name. Didn't expect to find out that this Spider-Man would a twelve year old." Spider-Man told Miles.
"I'm fourteen, by the way." Miles correct his age.
"Same thing. Okay, I'm going to take you home now. Where do you live?" Spider-Man offers to take Miles back home.
"I actually live in a school now, it's called Brooklyn Visions Academy. You probably haven't heard of it." Miles told him where he lives.
"I've heard of it, so you're a smart kid who somehow gained powers like me. How did you get them by the way?" Spider-Man is curious of Miles's origins.
"I just happened to get bitten by a spider and the next thing I know, I got powers just like you. Its crazy, right?" Miles told Spider-Man.
"No, I got my powers by a spider bite too. Let me guess, you happen to be at a Stark Expo at some point and one of the spiders bit you." Spider-Man made a guess.
"What? No, I haven't been to any expo lately." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Then the spider must've found its way to you somehow. But more on that later, let's get you home." Spider-Man told Miles.
Spider-Man took Miles in his arms as they've jumped off the rooftop and swings through the neighborhood, Miles got excited as he got to experience web slinging in action.
"Whoa!!!" Miles yells out in the air.
"Hey! Don't shout out loud!" Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Sorry, I just never done any web slinging before! This is fun!" Miles told Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is still swinging through Brooklyn with Miles as they're heading back to Brooklyn Visions Acadamy.
(Later)
Spider-Man and Miles Morales are on the rooftop of Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles is back home as Spider-Man looks down at the fancy school they're both standing on.
"You must be a very smart kid to be able to come to a fancy school like this." Spider-Man told Miles.
"I'm not that smart actually." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Are you actually good at anything?" Spider-Man asking Miles.
"My specialty is in art." Miles told Spider-Man.
"So how did you get accepted?" Spider-Man says to Miles.
"I won the lottery." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Huh, lucky. Okay, you're home and this is where we part ways, so Goodnight." Spider-Man told Miles before he leaves.
"Wait!" Miles tells Spider-Man before he goes.
Spider-Man stopped and turned. "What is it?"
"So that's it, no more advice about what to do with these new powers of mine?" Miles told Spider-Man.
"You want an advice? Put away the suit, stop being a hero, live a normal life." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"I can't live a normal life again, not after what just happened to me. I think that it was fate that we meet each other. It's my destiny to become a hero like you." Miles told Spider-Man.
"And how's that been working out for you? You nearly got yourself killed by Tombstone back there, if I hadn't came to find you in time, you would've been dead. Tombstone obviously got better experience in combat than you, if you go out there fighting again, then you won't last a second against a supervillain like him." Spider-Man told Miles.
"Then why don't you teach me?" Miles is wondering.
"What?" Spider-Man says to Miles
"Teach me, take me on as your new sidekick and you can show me how to fight like you." Miles suggested to Spider-Man.
"Look kid, I'm really not looking to take on a sidekick right now, I got so much going on right now. Take my advice, give up this life now while you still can, before it's too late. Take care, Miles." Spider-Man told Miles.
Spider-Man jumps off the rooftop and swings away as Miles stayed behind watching his hero leave after advising him to give up this life as a hero.
Miles sighed. "Never meet your heroes, huh?"
(Dorm Room)
Miles climbs into the dorm room to find Ganke still awake and looking up the laptop until he spotted his best friend returning from his fight with Tombstone.
"Miles, you're finally back." Ganke told Miles.
Miles takes off the mask as Ganke is shocked to see Miles with a black eye and a bruise from the hit Tombstone inflicted upon him.
"Oh my god! What happened?!" Ganke is worried for Miles.
"Oh this? This is nothing." Miles told Ganke.
Miles takes off the top part of the suit and showed more bruises he got from Tombstone, Ganke is even more shocked to see them.
"Are those nothing too? I'll ask again, what happened out there?!" Ganke is more worried.
Miles sighed. "I almost died, Tombstone came so close to kill me, but Spider-Man came just in time to save my life."
"Spider-Man? The Spider-Man?!" Ganke is shocked and surprised.
"The only one, or was until I came alone and took up his name. He brought me back here after the fight with Tombstone, he told me that I should give up this life of a hero." Miles told Ganke.
"And are you?" Ganke is curious.
"Of course not, Ganke, I can't have a normal life again after I got these powers. No, I'm going to have to prove myself to him and convince him to take me as his new sidekick." Miles told Ganke.
"Great, and how are you going to do that exactly?" Ganke asking Miles.
"I... I don't know yet, but I'll figure something out. But it'll have to be tomorrow, I'm all sore and tired out, I'm going to take a shower and hit the bed. So, Goodnight buddy." Miles told Ganke before going to the bathroom.
"Goodnight Miles." Ganke told Miles.
Ganke is more worried than ever since Miles almost got himself killed in a fight with Tombstone, but luckily Spider-Man arrived to save his life. He knows that this life is dangers for Miles to handle, but Miles won't back down so easily even after his recent conversation with the hero himself, he'll try again to seek out Spider-Man and convince him to train him as his new sidekick.
The next morning at Empire State University, Dr. Curt Connors is inside his lab with Oxford professor and geneticist Dr. Jonathan Drew who flew in from London couple days again.
"Again Curt, I apologize for coming all this way for nothing. I should've taken a cab instead of an Uber, it was my mistake." Jonathan Drew apologizes to Dr. Connors.
"Don't worry about it, things like this happens all the time in New York, someone is always out to steal from innocent folks like yourself. Though I am disappointed that won't get a chance to see this new breed of super spider you worked on to study." Dr. Connors told Dr. Drew.
"This is different from the others, besides having the enhanced special traits, this one has been genetically altered with optical camouflage and bio-electrokinesis, it was my finest work and I lost it, just like I lost the last two in both Stark Expos within the last two years." Dr. Drew explained about the super spiders.
"Don't take it too personally, sometimes when it comes to science, unexpected things can happen." Dr. Connors told Dr. Drew.
"You speak like you've been through this before." Dr. Drew suspected as much.
"More than I can to admit, or remember. Something I'd rather put behind me." Dr. Connors referencing the Lizards.
Meanwhile a power drill is being used as it's making too much noise in the lab, Dr. Connors and Dr. Drew are disturbed by how much it's hurting their ears. They walked over to another part of the lab and finds a man wearing earmuffs to protect his ears, he spotted the two scientists here looking at him, he turned off the power drill and takes off the earmuffs.
"Sorry Dr. Connors, didn't know that you came too early, I wanted to get started on my work before you got here." Norton Fester told the scientists.
"It's okay, Dr. Fester. Dr. Jonathan Drew, this is Dr. Norton Fester, our school's meteoriticist, he's examining the meteor samples John Jameson and his team obtain from the comet on their last mission." Dr. Connors introduced Norton Fester.
"I remember, it's was global news, terrible day." Dr. Drew is aware of the shuttle mission.
"Yes, it was, it's a good thing that Col. Jameson and his crew survived the crash. Anyways, I should get ready for my class, I'll see you out to the door. Dr. Fester, continue with your work." Dr. Connors says before he leaves the lab.
"Thank you, Dr. Connors." Norton Fester waved them goodbye.
Both Dr. Connors and Dr. Drew left the lab together as Dr. Fester now has the lab to himself. He puts back the earmuffs to protect his ears from loud sounds. He then picked up the power drill as he turns it back on and the drill is spinning. He drills into the meteor carefully, but something unexpected happens, gas came out of the meteor and Dr. Fester inhaled the gas through his mouth and nose. He stopped drilling and coughs out loud as he breathed in unknown gas from the meteor, he decided to suspend his work until further noticed, he's felling unusually well due to the gas he breathed in. He grabbed a glass of water on the table and it got smashed with a single grip of his hand. He finds out that he's incredibly strong all of sudden after exposure to the meteor gas.
(Outside)
Both Dr. Connors and Dr. Drew walked out of the lab as they're about to part ways from each other.
"I should get back to class, it was nice seeing you again." Dr. Connors told Jonathan Drew.
"You too, Curt. I'll be in town for a couple days before I fly back home to London." Jonathan Drew told De. Connors.
"Okay, enjoy your time here." Dr. Connors told Jonathan Drew.
"Thanks." Jonathan Drew waved as he walks away.
Jonathan Drew and Curt Connors parted ways as the ESU scientist has a class to teach. Unknown to anyone, a strange figure is spying on Jonathan Drew walking out of campus, he follows after him and kept his distance as to not spook the scientist.
In London, secondary school has been dismissed as many students are leaving the school grounds, Gwen Stacy is walking out of campus alone. She looked to the fountain where a boy and a girl who are students here are happy as they leaned in closer and kissed each other. Seeing those two together makes her remember her relationship with Peter.
"I miss you, Peter." Gwen whispered to herself.
"Coz?!" Jill calling out to Gwen.
"Huh?" Gwen snapped back to reality.
"You coming?!" Jill asking Gwen.
"Yeah!" Gwen told Jill.
Gwen walked out of campus ground and joined up with her cousin Jill as they're walking together. Gwen still thinks about her love for Peter Parker, she can never forget him no matter where she is, she misses him.
The school bell rang at Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles is sitting in the library using his laptop and accessed the Wi-Fi, he's looking up articles on Spider-Man, hoping to learn so much about him that might help him find the hero, unknown to him someone is approaching him slowly.
"Okay Spider-Man, how can I find you?" Miles says in his thoughts.
"Hey Miles!" Anya surprised Miles.
Miles got startled by his classmate Anya Corazon, the rest of the library all shushed at Anya as she being too loud.
"Sorry." Anya lowered her voice as she told the whole library.
"Oh, hey Anya. You startled me." Miles told Anya.
"Sorry about that, I wanted to check up on you since yesterday." Anya told Miles.
Anya looked at Miles's face and saw the black eye he got from last night, she got curious as to hurt Miles so badly in the face.
"Oh my god, what happened to your eye?" Anya asking Miles.
"Oh this? I... ah... walked into a door by accident." Miles told a lie.
"You're a terrible liar, you know that. Did those guys who chased you yesterday do that to you?" Anya asking Miles.
"No, it wasn't them, I actually out ran them yesterday." Miles told Anya.
"Seriously, you really need to stand up for yourself. At least you should learn to fight and stand up to bullies." Anya suggested to Miles.
"Thanks, I'll certainly take your advice." Miles already had that same idea for a very different reason.
Anya smiled until she turns her eyes towards Mile's laptop and sees that he's looking up articles on Spider-Man.
"You a fan of Spider-Man?" Anya asking Miles.
"Oh, yeah. You like Spider-Man?" Miles told Anya.
"Who doesn't, the guy is amazing. He saves more lives in the past two alone, not to mention he helped saved the world twice. This guy is a legend." Anya told Miles.
"And here I thought I was the only fan." Miles told Anya.
"And now there's two, which is great. We need more heroes in our lives, to give us hope." Anya told Miles.
Miles smiled that Anya likes the idea of another Spider-Man out there making a difference. Meanwhile Ganke just enters the library with Rio Morales, Miles's mother which surprised Miles himself.
"Mom?" Miles is surprised by her presence.
"Mom?" Anya is confused.
Anya turns around to find a Latin American woman here in the school, Rio walked up to find Miles talking to a girl his age.
"Sorry to surprise you, Hijo. I just wanted to stop by and check on you. What happened to your face?" Rio is worried about the black eye on Miles's face.
"I..." Miles tries to make up an excuse.
"He bumped into my door by accident, I was opening and didn't see him, my bad." Anya told a lie.
Miles is surprised that Anya covered for him, even though they've only met up a couple days ago, they've gotten pretty friendly with one another.
"And who might you be?" Rio asking Anya for her name.
"Oh, my name is Anya Corazon, a classmate of your son." Anya introduced herself to Rio.
"Nice to meet you, Anya, I'm Rio, his mother. Miles didn't mention that his new friend is pretty cute." Rio told Anya.
"Mom!" Miles blushed as he felt embarrassed.
The whole library all shushed at Miles for making a loud noise, Miles felt even more embarrassed for disturbing everyone here.
"I should get going, homework and stuff. Nice meeting you, Rio." Anya told Rio.
"You too." Rio waved to Anya.
Anya walks away as Rio turns back to her son Miles who looked embarrassed by the way his mother told Anya she's cute.
"What?" Miles asking his mother.
"Nothing, I can see why you're adjusting to your new school." Rio smiled at her son.
"She's just a friend." Miles told Rio.
"Okay, if you say so, Hijo. I just wanted to see how you're doing before I leave for work." Rio told Miles.
"You're working another shift at the hospital today?" Miles is surprised.
"Oh no, I'm volunteering my services at the homeless shelter in Chinatown, it's called F.E.A.S.T.." Rio told Miles.
"I see, can I come with you?" Miles asking his mother.
"What?" Rio is surprised.
"I got nothing to do here, and I like to check out this place you're working at if that's okay with you." Miles told his mother.
"Well, yeah, that's okay with me." Rio agreed with Miles.
"Great, let me go change into my regular clothes and we'll be on our way." Miles told his mother.
"Okay Hijo, I'll wait outside for you." Rio told her son.
Miles left the library to head for his dorm room to change into regular clothes to head into the city with his mother.
Back at ESU labs, Norton Fester is drawing out his blood with a needle and drops a sample onto the slide. He puts it under the microscope and looks through to see the changes the gas did to his blood.
"My god!" Norton Fester is stunned.
Norton Fester discovered that exposure to the meteor gas enhanced his physiology, giving him super strength as an example. Dr. Connors came into the lab and finds Dr. Fester still working here.
"You're still here?" Dr. Connors told Norton Fester.
"Yeah, by the way, I made an interesting discovery about the meteors." Norton Fester has some news to share.
"I'm listening." Dr. Connors is curious.
"These meteors contains unknown chemicals that could enhanced a living being with incredible strength. I believe with enough research, we can tap into his great potential for all of humanity. This could be something interesting for the science committee, they'll be willing to fund this research." Norton Fester explained to Dr. Connors.
"Look, I think this could be a great discovery, but we can't bring this to the committee. They've cut off our funding to this lab after all the damage Electro caused as a result of a science accident. I'm sorry Dr. Fester, but the answer is no. Excuse me." Dr. Connors told Norton Fester.
Dr. Connors turned down this opportunity for good reason due to his experience with the Lizard and Electro, the last thing he wants is to create another supervillain capable of destruction. Dr. Connors has left the lab as Norton Fester doesn't want his discovery to be passed by.
"If the committee won't give me the funding for my research, then I'll get them on my own, and with these new gifts, I have the power to take what I want. Nothing shall stand in my way, nothing." Norton Fester talking to himself.
Norton Fester's mind has been corrupted by the effects of the meteor gas, he's willing to commit crimes and steal money needed to continue his research on the meteors.
Meanwhile at F.E.A.S.T., Peter and Mary Jane are volunteering their community service hours at the shelter as Mary Jane is curious about somethings concerning Peter's life as Spider-Man.
"So Tiger, how did it go in Brooklyn?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Not much, just saved a kid from Tombstone and returned him back home safe and sound. But my suspicions are true, he does have powers like me and Gwen." Peter told Mary Jane.
"So he's another kid who got bitten by a spider. Seems like more and more heroes are on the rise. So when are you going to see him again?" Mary Jane is wondering.
"I'm not." Peter told Mary Jane.
"What? Why?" Mary Jane is confused.
"Cause he's only fourteen years old, he nearly got himself killed last night despite having powers, he's inexperienced and lacks training." Peter told Mary Jane.
"Then why not teach him to be strong like you." Mary Jane told Peter.
"MJ, I have a lot on my plate right now trying to keep this city safe alone, I don't have time to train a sidekick. Besides, after that near death experience, I doubt he'll be reckless to go out there again. There's very little chance we'll see each other again." Peter told Mary Jane.
"Hello?!" Miles's voice came from behind.
Peter recognized that voice and turns around to see Miles Morales again so soon, he just came into the shelter with his mother as they're meet with May Parker, Peter is confused as to why Miles is here, whether it's a coincidence or not.
"Rio, you're a bit late." May told Rio.
"Sorry, I had to stop by my son's school and check up on him." Rio told May.
"Don't apologize, it's not that big of a deal you being late. So this young man must be your son." May told Rio.
"Yes, this is Miles." Rio introduced Miles.
Peter is looking at Miles shaking hands with his aunt, he's more interested in why is he here, could Miles be looking for him as Spider-Man, Mary Jane noticed that Peter is acting weird.
"Tiger, what's going on with you?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"Ah, remember that kid I told you about who got the spider powers like me?" Peter points his eyes towards Miles.
Mary Jane looked at Miles. "Oh!"
May and Miles are walking towards them as Peter is wondering if Miles knows about him being Spider-Man or not.
"Miles Morales, I like you to meet Mary Jane Watson, my neighbor's niece." May introduced Mary Jane to Miles.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Miles greeted Mary Jane.
"Nice to meet you, Miles." Mary Jane greeted Miles.
Miles and Mary Jane finished shaking hands as May turns to her nephew Peter.
"And this is my nephew, Peter Parker." May introduced Peter to Miles.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Peter told Miles.
"Likewise." Miles told Peter.
Peter and Miles shake hands as Miles felt a strange feeling about Peter Parker he can't figure out.
"What?" Peter is wondering.
"Have we met before?" Miles is curious.
"Ah... no, I don't think so." Peter tries to deny it.
"Really, because I felt like I know you from somewhere." Miles told Peter.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." Peter told Miles.
Miles's eyes widen. "Wait, I know who you are."
Peter is looking nervous as he believes that Miles might've figured out that he's Spider-Man.
"You're that guy who takes the photos of Spider-Man." Miles told Peter.
"Yeah, that's me, the photographer." Peter looking nervous.
"Well, now that you're all acquainted. Peter, care to show Mr. Morales around the shelter?" May asking Peter.
"Sure, this way please." Peter told Miles.
Peter walks with Miles away from May and Mary Jane, he shows him around the shelter where all the homeless are being feed and the staff teaching them skills to get off the streets and become productive citizens.
"So what does everyone do here exactly?" Miles asking Peter.
"Some feed the homeless, others teach them productive skills, a few tend to the sick and injured, and provides a night of shelter for those who are available." Peter explained the shelter's purpose.
"So my mom is one of those who helps those in need of medical treatment?" Miles guessed what his mother does here.
"Exactly, she is a nurse after all." Peter knows Rio Morales.
"You know my mom?" Miles asking Peter.
"I've met here a couple times before, once from two years ago, and the second..." Peter hesitates to finish his sentence.
"The second, what?" Miles is curious.
"The second time was the day that someone I knew passed away." Peter told with a sad expression about George Stacy.
"Oh, I had no idea, I'm sorry for your loss, condolences." Miles told Peter.
"Thanks... that was the day everything change for me and..." Peter hesitates again talking about Gwen.
"And who?" Miles is wondering.
"I don't want to talk about it, it's very painful." Peter doesn't want to tell much.
"You don't have to me if you don't want to, I won't pry." Miles respects Peter's feelings.
"Thanks." Peter told Miles.
"So... you know Spider-Man personally?" Miles is curious about Spider-Man
"Yeah, I'm kinda like his unofficial personal photographer, let's me takes his pictures to show the people the good things he's done for the city." Peter told Miles a half truth.
"He has, he made a big difference in everyone's lives." Miles told Peter.
"Sounds like you're a big fan." Peter figured out how much Miles admires Spider-Man.
"I am, I collect newspaper clippings of him in action, and now I hear that there's another Spider-Man out there doing what he does. He saved several from being blown up, one of them was a kid. If that Spider-Man didn't show in time, there would've been a real tragedy. It's great that we have heroes in the world willing to do what's right, wouldn't you say?" Miles told Peter of his exploits as the other Spider-Man.
"Yeah, he did great." Peter smiled as he knows what Miles did.
"Miles!" Rio waving to her son.
"Gotta go, nice meeting you, Peter Parker." Miles told Peter before leaving.
Miles walked away to join up with his mother, Peter didn't like the idea of having a young kid with zero experience out there at first, but he knows that if Miles didn't do what he did, several lives would've been lost. Peter is thinking of whether to bring Miles into his life as Spider-Man. He then pulls out his phone and accessed the photo gallery, he pulled out one picture on the screen of himself making a weird face while Gwen was kissing his cheek, he smiled.
Peter sighed. "I missed you, Gwen."
At London's Chinatown, Gwen and Jill are dining at a restaurant enjoying Chinese cuisine after a day of school, Gwen is holding up her phone looking at a picture of herself kissing Peter on the cheek while he's making a weird face, she smiled and remembers the good times.
"I missed you, Peter." Gwen whispered.
"What did you say?" Jill asking Gwen.
"Sorry, I was thinking about my boyfriend, Peter." Gwen told Jill.
"That brown haired teen from Queens, the one you kissed before leaving?" Jill is wondering.
"The same." Gwen told Jill.
"He's pretty cute." Jill admits to Gwen.
Gwen gave her cousin the look for talking about the love of her life.
"What? It's a compliment! I don't blame you for having the hots for that guy. Some girl back home will probably get lucky going out with him." Jill told Gwen.
"Hey, don't joke around like that." Gwen felt offended.
"Look, I think it's wonderful that you're both in love, and I respect that, I really do. But now you're not together anymore and he'll probably find another girl to date. I'm sorry for telling you this, but he'll need a new girlfriend at his side since you're not there anymore." Jill told Gwen.
Gwen is sadden as she can't be there for Peter as his girlfriend or his partner, even though he's a hero, he'll need someone who can fill the role that once belong to Gwen. She then hallucinates as she sees what appears for be Martin Li here at the restaurant. Gwen stood up all of sudden as everyone looked at Gwen.
"Gwen? Gwen?!" Jill calling to Gwen.
Gwen snapped back as she sees a regular Chinese guy in a suit and mistaken him for Martin Li, her father's killer, Gwen turns back to Jill, her worried cousin.
"What's wrong?" Jill is worried.
"Nothing... just nothing." Gwen was hallucinating.
Gwen is leaving the restaurant as the thought of Martin Li is getting to her, Jill paid the bill and follows after Gwen. Gwen never thought about Martin Li until now, the man who murdered her father. Jill finally caught up to her outside.
"Coz, are you okay?" Jill is very worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry that we didn't finish lunch." Gwen apologizes to Jill.
"Gwen, I'm sorry if I hit a nerve with you about your boyfriend." Jill apologizes to Gwen.
"I miss him, I just wish I could see him again and that he could see me too." Gwen told Jill.
"Maybe one day... hey, I got an idea that might cheer you up about your boyfriend." Jill has a suggestion.
"What is it?" Gwen is wondering.
"You'll see." Jill smiled at Gwen.
Gwen is confused as what her cousin has in store for her, something that involves Peter.
Back in New York at Empire State University, Dr. Norton Fester is working on building a suit along with gadgets using the available resources of the lab, he made a suit made in white and purple as he plans to become something else, he holds up the white mask with purple lens.
"Almost done, soon all of New York City and the whole world will see what I'm capable of. They shall soon meet the Meteor Man." Norton Fester calls himself the Meteor Man.
At the Spider-Cave, Peter is alone dressed in his Spider-Man suit thinking about whether to bring Miles Morales into the fold, but a part of him still has doubts due to the kid lacking any experience in hero business.
"So should I take you in or not, Miles Morales?" Spider-Man talking to himself.
"Yes, you should!" Madame Web's voice.
Spider-Man got jumpy as he turns around to see Julia Carpenter AKA Madame Web into his hideout.
"Could you not do that every time? It's creepy!" Spider-Man tells Madame Web.
"I see that you're still vigilant as ever, especially with Ghost-Spider no longer part of this crusade of yours. I assume you know why I'm here." Madame Web says to Spider-Man.
"Let me guess, Miles Morales. So you come all this way to train him? Be my guest, that kid needs some serious training and I'm sure that you'll shape him into another spider hero in no time." Spider-Man told Madame Web.
"You're right, the boy does need training, but not from me." Madame Web told Spider-Man.
"If not you, then who?" Spider-Man is curious.
"You." Madame Web told Spider-Man.
"Me?" Spider-Man is surprised.
"That's right, you. You must be the one to train him, be his mentor and teach him everything you know, show him how to be a hero." Madame Web told Spider-Man.
"Look at me, do I look like I can mentor anyone?" Spider-Man has some doubts.
"Yes, you've inspired so many to follow your example, showed them how to be heroes. Miles will become a great hero like you under your tutelage, but you trust each other in order for him to learn from you." Madame Web told Spider-Man.
"You've seen this in your visions?" Spider-Man asking Madame Web.
"I have, Miles plays an important role in the future ahead." Madame Web hinted Miles's destiny.
Meanwhile Mary Jane enters the Spider-Cave to find Spider-Man with a red haired woman dressed in a coat.
"MJ?" Spider-Man looks surprised.
"Tiger, didn't know that you would be having company." Mary Jane noticing Madame Web.
"Neither did I, MJ, this is Julia Carpenter, Madame Web." Spider-Man introduced Madame Web to Mary Jane.
"So she's that Madame Web who trained you and Gwen." Mary Jane told Spider-Man.
"The same, pleasure to meet you, Mary Jane Watson." Madame Web told Mary Jane.
"Well, now that we're all acquainted. I better get going." Spider-Man told the two redheads.
"Where you're going?" Mary Jane is curious.
"Brooklyn, need a new sidekick to mentor." Spider-Man told Mary Jane.
Spider-Man left the Spider-Cave to find Miles Morales, leaving Mary Jane alone with Madame Web as she has so many questions to ask her.
"Now that he's gone, what do you know about me?" Madame Web asking Mary Jane.
"From what Peter told me, you were there at the very beginning when he got bitten by that spider. You came to him and taught him everything he knew to be a hero. You did the same for Gwen, you helped turned my closest friends into heroes." Mary Jane told Madame Web.
"Is that all?" Madame Web is curious.
"They told me that you've seen both their futures, their destinies to become heroes. I'm guessing you even seen Miles's future too." Mary Jane suspected.
"It's not just their futures I've seen, yours too, Mary Jane Watson." Madame Web told Mary Jane.
Mary Jane is stunned to hear that Madame Web knows her future too, she can't help but being curious as to what her destiny is.
"And what do you see in this future of mine?" Mary Jane is curious about her future.
"Your destiny is tied to Peter's, you play a very important role in his life." Madame Web hinted Mary Jane's future.
Mary Jane smiled. "I guess I do, Peter is a wonderful person and I'll always be there as his best friend."
Mary Jane then got a ping on her phone as she pulls it from her pocket and checks the text.
"I should get going, it was nice meeting you, Madame Web." Mary Jane told Madame Web.
Mary Jane walks away as Madame Web stays behind and smiled as she knows Mary Jane's true destiny with Peter Parker.
"Oh, Mary Jane Watson, you're so much more than that. Your destiny is tied to Peter's as something much more, just likes Gwen's destiny. You're both the great loves of his life." Madame Web confessed Mary Jane's destiny.
Back at London, Gwen is in her bedroom looking up articles on Spider-Man, she found a recent one talking about a new Spider-Man in Brooklyn, she wonders what this could mean for Peter. She then closed the laptop and picked up the highlight kit she and Jill bought recently and headed to the bathroom. Gwen is in the bathroom with a pink highlight kit for her hair, she looks herself in the mirror and watched her regular looks before she does the change.
Gwen sighed. "Okay, here goes nothing."
Gwen is wearing plastic gloves and applies highlight paint on the fingers, she then applied them onto lower parts of her hair, Gwen kept on applying more and more highlights around her head.
At Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles is cleaning up his suit that got cover in oil from his last fight with Tombstone, Ganke Lee is asleep in his bed. Miles is having trouble removing the oil from his suit.
"Come on." Miles trying to get rid of the oil.
Miles gave up as it's too hard for him to get rid of it. Meanwhile his phone pinged a text, he looked up to see that it's coming from a blocked number, the text reads 'I'm waiting on the rooftop, come see me.'
"Could it be?" Miles is wondering if it's who he think it is.
(Rooftop)
Spider-Man is waiting on the rooftop of Brooklyn Visions Academy for Miles Morales to show up.
Spider-Man sighed. "Where are you, Miles?"
Miles appeared out from cloaking. "Here I am!"
Spider-Man got startled. "Whoa! How'd you do that?!"
"Oh this? Beside having the same powers as you, I can turn invisible, it's like camouflaging." Miles explained about his unique power.
"Wow, that's new." Spider-Man admits to Miles.
"So can you turn invisible too?" Miles is curious.
"Sadly no, but I'm not complaining, I'm doing just fine with my regular spider abilities." Spider-Man told Miles.
"To be honest, I didn't think I'd see you again after you told me to give this up." Miles is surprised and confused.
"Yeah, neither did I. But I'm here to see if you want to learn how to be a hero." Spider-Man told Miles.
"Are you serious?" Miles is stunned and surprised.
"I am, let's meet here on the rooftop after school and we'll begin training. Hope you're up to it?" Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Absolutely! Thank you!" Miles is excited he's given a chance.
Spider-Man's suit visor got a police alert, he tapped his suits earpiece and listened in.
"Attention units, an armored car robbery has occurred on the Brooklyn Bridge by an unknown figure dressed in a costume."
Spider-Man tells Miles. "Okay, gotta go. I see you tomorrow after school on the rooftop, remember!"
Spider-Man jumps off the rooftop and swings away from Brooklyn Visions Academy, Miles watched as he swings towards the action. He smiled as Spider-Man has finally agreed to train him as his new sidekick.
Sometime later in the Brooklyn Bridge, the security guards are taken down by a man dressed in a white and purple costume without a scratch. He then walks up to the back of the armored car and pulls out his laser pistol, he switch the setting to full laser beam as he fires upon the steel door and cutting down the locks. He stopped firing and puts his pistol away, he then opens the back doors and sees all the money the armored car was transporting.
"Everything I need to fund my project, normally I never steal but it's for the sake of science." Looter tells himself.
Looter then started collecting all the money he can take and stuff them into duffel bags, Spider-Man arrived on the bridge tower overlooking the crime happened down below committed by a villain in a costume, he webs his camera on the wall and angling it towards the armored car.
"Seriously, what is it about supervillain stealing money from armored cars? But this should be easy money for me taking down the bad guy and getting it all on camera." Spider-Man tells himself.
The Looter finished collecting all the money he can carry as he exits the back of the armored car about to make his escape, but Spider-Man jumped in and landed in front of him blocking his escape.
"Going somewhere?" Spider-Man asking the supervillain.
"Yes actually, so if you'll excuse me." Looter tries to walk past Spider-Man.
Spider-Man steps in and blocks his way out as he can't let this guy get away with the money.
"Can't let you leave with that money." Spider-Man tells Looter.
"Fine, then I'll have to go through you!" Looter threatens Spider-Man.
Looter pulls out his laser pistol and switched it to firing mode, he fired some lasers as Spider-Man is backflipping and dodging the lasers, Spider-Man counters by firing an impact webbing and knocked the pistol off Looter's hand.
"So who are you suppose to be?" Spider-Man is curious about the supervillain's name.
"Glad you asked, I am the Meteor Man!" Looter proclaimed himself as Meteor Man.
"Meteor Man? Hmm, I don't see it. To me, you're just the Looter who steals money from armored cars. So I should call you Looter." Spider-Man calls him the Looter.
"I don't care what you call me, I need this money all in the name of science." Looter tells Spider-Man.
"You're a scientist? Look, I don't know your intentions are, but I can let you take all that money, so..." Spider-Man fired his webshooters.
Both duffel bags got webbed up and yanked from Looter's hands, they got pulled away and tossed aside. Looter got angry all the money got taken back by Spider-Man, he charged in as Spider-Man jumps over him passing by and landed behind him, he strikes back with a back kick to Looter's back, the villain fell down on the ground. The Looter is getting back up as Spider-Man webbed up his arm, Looter used the web line and pulls Spider-Man hard with his new strength, Spider-Man got pulled and Looter managed to punch him hard and sent him crashing against a car nearby feeling the pain.
"Ow! Okay, you're stronger than you look." Spider-Man is surprised by Looter's strength.
"The meteor I've studied blessed me with incredible powers, now I shall uses these powers to get all the funding needed for my research and you shall not stand in my way!" Looter explained how he got his powers.
"Don't think your powers will be enough to stop me, I've gone up against worst than you." Spider-Man won't back down.
"A shame, then I'll have to kill you!" Looter threatens Spider-Man.
"Just try!" Spider-Man dares Looters.
Looter picked up the laser pistol knocked from his hand and fired at Spider-Man who dodged it, Spider-Man rushed towards Looter who fired at the hero who is jumping and dodging the incoming fire, he managed to get close enough for a drop kick and knocked him off his feet. Looter is down on the ground as Spider-Man got the best of him.
"Give up?" Spider-Man asking the Looter.
"Never!" Looter tells out in anger.
Looter took the opportunity to strike back at Spider-Man with his fist, only for the hero to catch it with ease and with zero strength in his punch, Looter is surprised as Spider-Man pulls him and tossed him towards the edge of the bridge. Looter is confused as to why he's weaker all of a sudden when he was just stronger before.
"What's going on? What happened to my powers?" Looter is very confused.
"Looks like your powers are only temporary, leaving you just a regular guy. Give up now while you still can, it's over!" Spider-Man asking Looter to surrender.
"For now." Looter pulls the cord.
The pack on Looter's back opens up as a portable hot air balloon emerged and pulls Looter away from the bridge, Spider-Man tries to stop his escape by firing webbing but Looter used his laser pistol to neutralize them before they could reach him. Looter reached a far distance from the bridge as Spider-Man was unable to stop his escape.
"Damnit, he got away." Spider-Man is disappointed.
Spider-Man turns to see that the money Looter tried to steal is still here and the security guards are waking up to see that Spider-Man managed to stop the Looter from stealing the money.
"Oh, thanks for your help, Spidey."
"Just happened to be in the neighborhood, I'll leave you to recover the money. The cops should be here soon, ciao!" Spider-Man jumps and swings away.
Spider-Man managed to take the camera hanging from the wall before he leaves, he managed to prevent the Looter from taking the money.
"That takes care of business, but I have a feeling it's not over yet. Looter will be back soon and I'll be ready. In the meantime, I should stop by the Bugle and get paid." Spider-Man is swing away.
Later at midnight at the apartment home of Norton Fester, the Looter returned home, he takes off his mask and tossed down in anger after failing to steal the money thanks to Spider-Man's intervention.
"Damn that Wall-Crawler!" Norton Fester is very disappointed.
Norton Fester is more curious as what happened to his new abilities, they're gone all of a sudden. He grabbed a needle and rolls up his sleeve, he sticks it inside and draws out a blood sample. He then place it on the slide and puts it under the microscope, he takes another look at his blood to see that it's all normal.
"The changes in my blood is back to normal, the gas effect is only temporary. I need to regain my powers, I was lucky enough to escape but left empty handed, I still need money for my research. Tomorrow I'll head back to ESU and get another meteor sample, if my theory is right, then it should have more gas for me to take. Once my powers are restored, I'll go back and steal again. If Spider-Man attempts to stop me, then I shall squash him!" Norton Fester explained his plans.
The next morning in London, the alarm clock rang as Gwen hits the snooze button, she then gets up and stretched her arms up in the air. Gwen gets up and walks towards the bathroom, she then looks herself in the mirror and gazed upon her new looks with her hair, she has pink highlights on the lower parts of her blonde hair, she smiled as she likes the new look.
(Later)
Arthur Stacy is in the kitchen cooking up an English breakfast for his daughter and niece. Jill and Gwen came downstairs all dressed up in their school uniform.
"Okay, breakfast is ready." Arthur Stacy grabs the plates.
Arthur placed them on the table as Jill and Gwen are sitting down for breakfast, Arthur noticed that his niece Gwen has improved on her looks by adding pink highlights on her hair, Gwen noticed her uncle looking at her.
"What?" Gwen asking her uncle.
"Nothing, your hair, did you do that to yourself?" Arthur Stacy asking Gwen.
"Yeah, why? Does it look bad?" Gwen is wondering.
"No, it looks good. Are you trying to impress someone?" Arthur Stacy says to Gwen.
"Something like that, Jill suggested it." Gwen told her uncle.
"And it was a great suggestion, coz." Jill told Gwen.
"Well okay, finish up your breakfast, school starts in an hour and a half." Arthur Stacy told the girls.
Gwen and Jill are eating breakfast together as everyone likes the new Gwen Stacy. Gwen herself likes her new looks as she hopes to show it to Peter if she ever has a chance to see him again.
Later at ESU, Dr. Connors just finished teaching his class as grabbed the newspaper and he reads the recent issue of the Daily Bugle titled 'Spider-Man and Looter robbed Armored Car Together.' he sees the picture taken by his old intern Peter Parker as he's walking to his lab. He enters the lab to find Norton Fester wearing the Looter suit and inhaling the meteor gas again.
"Norton, what are you?" Dr. Connors stopped his sentence.
Dr. Connors sees the mask on the table nearby and recognize the suit Norton is wearing is identical to the one in the photo of Spider-Man fighting the Looter last night.
"It was you! You're the Looter who stole from the armored car last night, aren't you?!" Dr. Connors figured out the truth.
"That's right, it was me. I needed the money when you turned down my discovery on the meteor gas and what they can do." Norton Fester told Dr. Connors.
"The gas, you used it on yourself, didn't you?" Dr. Connors figured out about Looter's powers.
"This gas was the best thing that's ever happened to me, before I was just a meteoriticist with no recognition whatsoever. But then the meteor gas came to me and gave powers beyond imagining and all of a sudden I matter." Norton Fester told Dr. Connors.
"Norton, listen to me, you're not being yourself. It's obvious the gas has done something to your brain's chemistry, it's corrupting your mind. You need help!" Dr. Connors told Norton Fester.
"I don't need anyone's help, now I have the power to do and take what I want, including stealing and taking down anyone who gets in my way." Norton Fester walks away.
"No! I won't let you hurt innocent people!" Dr. Connors tries to stop Norton Fester.
Dr. Connors grabbed Norton's left arm but the villain used his back fist to hit Dr. Connors and sent him crashing against his lab table and wrecking all the equipment.
"No one is going to stop me, not even you." Norton Fester puts his mask on.
Norton Fester became the Meteor Man again and walks away from the lab as Dr. Connors is recovering from the hit Looter inflicted upon him. The man is too strong for him to stop, but he knows someone who can stop him and the person who can get in touch with him.
In Queens at the abandoned warehouse where Madame Web used to train Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider, Spider-Man himself is here with Miles Morales all dressed in his tracksuit for training.
"So what do we do here?" Miles is curious.
"First things first, let's see how you can hold yourself in a fight." Spider-Man told Miles.
"You serious? That's not really necessary, I got these powers that gave me a huge advantage. I think I can handle myself." Miles told Spider-Man.
"You really think so?" Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Yeah." Miles told Spider-Man.
Spider-Man then surprised Miles by strike him with a side kick as the young spider fell down on his back, Miles was caught off guard by Spider-Man'a attack.
"Ow! What the? You could've warn me!" Miles told Spider-Man.
"You think your enemies are going to go easier on you? Get up and try again, come on!" Spider-Man dares Miles to attack him.
Miles get back on his feet and tightens his fists, Miles came at Spider-Man throwing in punches as the hero uses his hands and arms to block and deflected the strike, he found an opening and executed a push kick, Miles got kicked back down on the ground again. Miles is getting angry that he's getting bested twice.
"You're angry, good. But control that anger and channel it into your..." Spider-Man tells Miles.
Miles gets up and charged at Spider-Man, but the hero does the hurricanrana and tossed Miles down on the ground again without difficulty. Spider-Man gets back up and stands looking down at Miles defeated once again.
"Having powers isn't the same as having control." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Really? Cause they came pretty handy in saving lives." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Did they come in handy when you faced Tombstone? That guy has powers too and plenty of experience in using them. You need to learn to adapt and survive in any situation." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"You mean like this?" Miles makes a move.
Miles jumps up and turns invisible, Spider-Man stays out as Miles is camouflaging himself somewhere in the warehouse, Spider-Man closes his eyes and waits for Miles to make his move.
"You might be invisible to my eyes!" Spider-Man still has eyes closed.
Miles went around behind him as he plans to surprise him with an attack, Spider-Man has his eyes closed as he uses his spider sense to find Miles. Miles is coming towards Spider-Man for a surprise attack but Spider-Man reacts by does a spinning back kick and hits Miles who fells back down again and stop cloaking after the hit.
"But not my spider sense." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Okay, you made your point. You obviously got better experience than me." Miles admits to Spider-Man.
Spider-Man offered his hand to Miles as he took it and pulls Miles back up on his feet after their sparring session.
"Don't feel too bad, Miles, believe it or not, I wasn't always a fighter. I was like you, just a normal kid living a normal life avoiding fights. Then one day, I got bitten by the spider and gained powers, it took me a while to learn how to adjust to them. Then I met someone like me who taught me how to fight and use my powers for good. She told me that it was my destiny to train you." Spider-Man told Miles his story.
"She probably thought you needed a partner. Speaking of which, what happened to your old one? This Ghost-Spider?" Miles is curious about Ghost-Spider.
"Okay, end of story, let's get back to training. Hey, I have an idea, let's try practicing using webbing." Spider-Man suggested to Miles.
Spider-Man removes his right web shooter from his wrist and gives it to Miles.
"Whoa! What is this?" Miles took the web shooter.
"It's called a web shooter, a device that allows me to fire webbing from the cartridge, it's useful for swinging around and trapping enemies Try it out, strap it on your wrist." Spider-Man explained about the web shooter.
Miles strapped the web shooter. "Cool! When do I get my own?"
"When you're ready. Okay, for this we shall practice targeting your wrist for web shooting. See those barrels over there?" Spider-Man points out towards the barrels.
"Yeah, I see them." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Okay, now to use the web shooter, you must press your two fingers together simultaneously on the triggering mechanism on your wrist. Allow me to demonstrate." Spider-Man aims his web shooter.
Spider-Man aimed at one of the barrels, he pressed his two fingers together and fired the webbing at the barrel and webbed it up, Miles watched and learned how to use the web shooter.
"Cool!" Miles likes the web shooters.
"Now you try, uses your enhanced sense to help you aim better, then aim your wrist at the barrels when you're ready." Spider-Man told Miles.
Miles aims his wrist and the web shooter towards the direction of the barrels, he's still new to the experience, Miles aimed and fired, but the webbing missed the barrels and passed over them.
Spider-Man sighed. "Okay, you're obviously not ready yet. We'll try again another time."
"What? That's it, just a few spars and demonstrations, you're giving up now?!" Miles told Spider-Man.
"Miles, I can't just teach everything at once. I'm still new to this mentorship, besides I got a supervillain to find. You need to trust me when I say I know what's best." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Trust you? How can I trust you if I don't even know who you are underneath the mask. You know that trust is a two way street. If you want me to trust you, then give me a reason to." Miles told Spider-Man.
Spider-Man still hasn't show his secret identity to Miles as he just meet this kid yesterday and knows very little about him, it took him weeks to finally show himself to Ghost-Spider, he doesn't want to risk his identity for a guy he just meet recently. Spider-Man's phone is ringing as he pulls it out and checks the caller ID, it's Dr. Connors from ESU.
"Excuse me, I gotta take this." Spider-Man walking away from Miles.
Spider-Man managed to find some distance between himself and Miles as he answered the phone in private.
"Dr. Connors?" Spider-Man talking to Dr. Connors.
"Peter, thank god I've reached you, I need your help." Dr. Connors sounded desperate.
"What's going on?" Spider-Man is worried.
"I need your help to reach out to Spider-Man, I need to see him immediately, it's urgent. I'll be waiting at the ESU lab." Dr. Connors needs Spider-Man's help.
"Okay, I'll make sure he gets the message." Spider-Man assured Dr. Connors.
"Thank you, Peter." Dr. Connors thanked Peter before hanging up.
Spider-Man puts away his phone as Dr. Connors needs to see him urgently, he needed to know what kind of trouble Dr. Connors is in. He turns to Miles Morales who looked disappointed that Spider-Man has given up so easily and still doesn't trust him.
"I'm sorry Miles, but I have to go. Someone needs my help, we'll continue this another time." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Sure, if you're not too busy to train me anyway." Miles sounded disappointed.
Spider-Man could tell that Miles is disappointed by his lack of trust or faith in him, Spider-Man said nothing as he doesn't have the time to deal with this, Dr. Connors needs him right now.
Later at Empire State University, Dr. Connors is cleaning up the mess that Looter made when he hits him hard and crashed him against the table, Spider-Man made it to the rooftop and looks down the window ceiling to see Dr. Connors cleaning up a mess, he opens the window ceiling and jumps down inside and surprised Dr. Connors.
"Spider-Man, you came." Dr. Connors told Spider-Man.
"Peter Parker gave me the message, I came as soon as I heard. What happened here?" Spider-Man asking Dr. Connors.
"The Looter happened." Dr. Connors told Spider-Man.
"The Looter was here?!" Spider-Man is surprised.
"His real name is Norton Fester, he's a meteoriticist, he recently studied the meteor samples John Jameson collected on his last mission last year. The meteors contains some kind of gas that enhances a human's physiology and gives them heighten powers, he wanted me to bring this discovery to the committee to fund his research, but I refused." Dr. Connors explained about the Looter.
"And now he's using his new powers to steal money for his research." Spider-Man is familiar with the Looter's motives.
"I'm afraid that the gas didn't just affect his body, but his brain as well, it's poisoning his mind and affecting his judgement. You have to stop him before he ends up doing something very dangerous." Dr. Connors told Spider-Man.
"Don't worry, Doc, I'm on it. Thanks for the info. When I heard that you were in trouble, I thought that you... you know..." Spider-Man hesitate to say it to Dr. Connors.
"Yeah." Dr. Connors know what he's talking about.
"Well, I'll go and find him. Take care of yourself, Doc." Spider-Man tells Dr. Connors before he leaves.
Norton Fester's experiment reminds Dr. Connors about another experiment gone wrong, the time he turned himself into the Lizard, he's still haunted by that single mistake.
Back in London at the home of Arthur Stacy, Gwen and Jill just returned home after school with Arthur in the living room watching the news.
"You should've seen the way all the boys at school were looking at you." Jill tells Gwen.
"I'm guessing they like my new looks, I wish that Peter could see me." Gwen thinking about Peter.
"Maybe he can. Dad, do you think that Gwen can call her ex-boyfriend in America?" Jill asking her father.
"You're talking about making an international call across the globe, they're quite expensive, I hope you understand." Arthur Stacy explained about international calls.
"Please dad, she hasn't heard back from her friend, just one call, that's all." Jill pleaded.
Arthur Stacy rolled his eyes and sighed. "Alright, just one call, use your time wisely, Gwen."
"Thank you, uncle." Gwen told her uncle.
Gwen left her cousin and uncle behind and went to her bedroom for some privacy, she pulled out her phone and went through her contacts. She found Peter Parker on her contacts and was about to make the call until she hesitates.
Gwen sighed. "Should I or should I not? Knowing Pete, he's probably busy being Spider-Man without me."
Gwen switched to another contact, Mary Jane, her best friend, she pressed and calls her, she holds the phone to her ear as it rings.
(Queens)
At the Watson Residence, Mary Jane is doing her homework with her dog Ms. Lion laying down on the bed next to her, her phone rang all of a sudden as she stop doing her homework and picks up to see an international call made from London.
"London, could it be?" Mary Jane answered the call. "Hello?"
"Hi Mary Jane, it's me!" Gwen sounded happy.
Mary Jane smiled in excitement. "Oh my god, Gwen Stacy?!"
"Surprise!" Gwen told Mary Jane.
"I can't believe it's you, it's been so long. How's London?" Mary Jane asking Gwen.
"It's fine, just living the normal life, like the old Gwen Stacy before Ghost-Spider. How is Peter?" Gwen is asking about Peter.
"He's been pretty busy being Spider-Man these past months, he saved the world from Ultron couple months ago." Mary Jane told Gwen.
"I know, I've been reading the articles on him, even the one about this new Spider-Man." Gwen told Mary Jane.
"Yeah, Peter just met him recently, he's starting to take him under his wing and showing him the ropes. I don't know how that's working out, but I hope it works out well for Peter, he needs the extra help." Mary Jane explained to Gwen.
(London)
"Yes he does. I wish I could be there to help him during these hard times, and not just as his partner, but as his girlfriend as well, I miss him." Gwen said with a sad expression.
Gwen misses Peter a lot ever since she moved away from New York after her father's funeral, everything changed when he died, her uncle took over the guardianship and she was forced to move away to London, away from her friends and the love of her life.
"Gwen, are you still there?" Mary Jane is waiting to hear back.
"Yeah, I'm still here. Besides being Spider-Man, how is he at school?" Gwen is curious about Peter.
"He's still getting good grades and taking photos for the Bugle, he's multitasking." Mary Jane told Gwen.
"I mean, is he seeing anyone?" Gwen is wondering Peter's relationship status.
"No, he hasn't been with anyone yet, he still thinks about you everyday." Mary Jane told Gwen.
"And I of him." Gwen smiled at the thought of Peter.
(Queens)
Mary Jane still holding the phone to her ear still talking to Gwen about Peter Parker and his relationships.
"Listen Mary Jane, I don't know if I'll ever come back to New York one day, but if I don't, I need to be there for Peter, stay by his side, he'll need you more than ever." Gwen tells Mary Jane.
"I'll always be there for Peter as his friend." Mary Jane told Gwen.
"No, I meant... be more than just his friend." Gwen told Mary Jane.
"Why are you telling me this?" Mary Jane is confused.
"Because you love him." Gwen told Mary Jane.
Mary Jane stayed silent as Gwen knows that Mary Jane loves Peter as something more than a friend, Mary Jane still has feelings for Peter ever since they first kissed last year.
"Mary Jane, are you still there?" Gwen waiting to hear back.
"Yeah, I'm still here." Mary Jane told Gwen.
"I need you to be there for Peter, whether as a friend or something more, he'll need you now more than ever since I can't be there for him. Just be there for Peter, promise me." Gwen told Mary Jane.
"Okay... I promise Gwen." Mary Jane kept her promise.
"Thank you, I hope that one day I'll get to you all again." Gwen told Mary Jane.
"So do I, Gwen, so do I." Mary Jane tells Gwen.
"Okay, gotta go. I miss you." Gwen told Mary Jane.
"I miss you too, bye Gwen." Mary Jane says her goodbye.
"Goodbye to you too." Gwen told Mary Jane before hanging up the phone.
Mary Jane kept a promise Gwen made her, she would be there for Peter as someone very important in his life, whether she's his best and closest friend or as something much more.
(London)
Gwen just finished her international call to Mary Jane, she couldn't speak to Peter due to him being busy as Spider-Man. She then looked at the photos on her phone of herself with Peter during their time together.
"I love you, Peter. I'll always love you." Gwen tells herself looking at the photo.
Back in New York City, a bank has been hit as many people are rushing out the building in fear, the Looter is using his laser pistol to cut through the vault door as it created an opening, Looter stopped and puts away his pistol as he gazed upon the money inside the vault.
"Jackpot!" Looter told himself.
The Looter enters the vault and started stealing the money again to replace the ones he failed to steal the first time, he stuffed as much as he can into the duffel bags. He then finished up and two duffel bags in his hands and was about to leave until Spider-Man arrived and stopped him from leaving.
"Hello there!" Spider-Man blocks his way out.
"You again?!" Looter is troubled by Spider-Man's presence.
"Yeah, me again, Looter, or should I say Norton Fester." Spider-Man calling Looter by his real name.
"So Dr. Connors told you who I am, and I assume he told you why I'm stealing this money." Looter tells Spider-Man.
"Norton, listen to me, you're not thinking straight, that meteor gas has affected your brain, you need help." Spider-Man tells Looter.
"This gas was the best thing that's ever happened to me, now it's made me more than who I am, and nothing shall stop me, not even you, Spider-Man!" Looter won't back down.
"Then I guess I have no choice but to stop you here and now." Spider-Man tightens his fists.
"I won't lose to you again!" Looter draws out his pistol.
Looter started firing laser shots as Spider-Man is running and jumping around dodging all the hits, he took cover behind the desk. The Looter stop firing as Spider-Man is hiding behind the desk, the Web-Slinger picks up the desk and tossed it towards the Looter as it toppled on him.
"What do you know? You lose to me again." Spider-Man taunting Looter.
The Looter used his strength to lift the desk off of him and tossed it back towards Spider-Man, but the hero jumps up and drops down for a drop kick. The Looter counters by grabbing Spider-Man's leg and spins him around and around until he tossed him towards the wall hard. Spider-Man sees that Looter has his strength back as he's walking towards him.
"Not this time, I've regained my powers again, enough for me to take you on." Looter told Spider-Man.
"Your powers are still only temporary, what's going to happen when you run out of juice?" Spider-Man reminds Looter.
"I plan to get rid of you before that happens." Looter told Spider-Man.
"Then what? Even if you do kill me, everyone knows who you are under the mask, you won't be able to have a normal life again." Spider-Man told Looter.
"Then I'll do my research in secret, there are plenty of meteors that crashed here on this planet. Hopefully they'll contain the gas for me to continue my research, once I figure out how to recreate the chemical formula, I shall become like a god." Looter explained his ambitions.
"You're getting ahead of yourself, pal. You still have to deal with me!" Spider-Man told Looter.
"With pleasure." Looter tightens his fists.
Looter punched down towards Spider-Man, but the hero dodge it and grapple his wrist, he then performs an armbar and wrapped his leg around Looter's arm. Looter lifts his arm up but Spider-Man surprised him with a web to the face, blinding him, he then kicked the Looter's face and the villain fell down on the ground, Spider-Man flips back up on his feet. Looter got very angry that Spider-Man is getting the best of him, he gets back up and starts punching in anger but Spider-Man was just too quick as he bob and weave his punches. Spider-Man grabbed one of the fists and twists his wrist making Looter stop in pain, Spider-Man then finishes it up with a one inch punch, Looter got punched back very hard as he crashed onto a support beam and got knocked out cold, Spider-Man emerged victorious.
"You might have powers, but you still lack control." Spider-Man tells the defeated Looter.
The police arrived and see that Spider-Man managed to stop the Looter from stealing the money and defeated the villain yet again.
The next day after school at Midtown High, Peter and Mary Jane are walking out of campus together with Peter reading another issue of the Daily Bugle of the Looter taken into custody.
"Another supervillain down thanks to yours truly." Peter referring to himself.
"So what's going to happen now?" Mary Jane asking Peter.
"The powers Looter had faded away, so he'll be taken to Ravencroft where he can get some help." Peter explained about the Looter.
"Not about that, about Miles." Mary Jane told Peter.
"Oh, that. I don't know if he'll want to see me after I failed to meet up to his expectations. I'm doing terrible at this whole mentoring thing. I don't know what to do." Peter told Mary Jane.
"Peter, you've always come across difficulties in your life as Spider-Man, but you always find a way to overcome them. I know that you'll find a way to train Miles into the best he is, you just need to believe in yourself. Trust me, Tiger, I believe in you." Mary Jane encourages Peter.
Peter smiled at Mary Jane's words. "Thanks MJ, what would I do without you?"
"I'll alway be there for you, Tiger." Mary Jane tells Peter.
"You're a great friend, MJ. Okay, wish me luck." Peter says to Mary Jane before leaving her.
"Good luck!" Mary Jane tells Peter.
Mary Jane watched as Peter is leaving her to seek out Miles Morales. Mary Jane has had that feeling she had ever since he and Peter became romantically involved at one time, she's in love with Peter.
At LaGuardia Airport, a car came up to the pickup area as Dr. Connors drove Jonathan Drew to the airport to catch a flight home to London.
"Thank you for giving a ride, saves me the trouble of hiring an Uber." Jonathan Drew told Dr. Connors.
"It was my pleasure, I'm sorry that your trip was for nothing." Dr. Connors told Jonathan Drew.
"Not true, I got to enjoy the sights while it lasted. And again, thank you Curt, I hope we see each other again under better circumstances." Jonathan Drew shakes hands with Dr. Connors.
"Likewise, have a safe trip home." Dr. Connors told Jonathan Drew.
Jonathan Drew got out of the car and headed into the terminal as Dr. Connors drove away. Jonathan got a text from his daughter Jessica, 'I'll pick you up at the airport once you land.' Jonathan smiled that his daughter will be there to pick him up on the other side, he heads inside as unknown to him, a shady individual from before is still following him, he pulls out his phone and made a call.
"Progress?" Arnim Zola asking the operative.
"The Englishman is about to board his flight back to London."
"Excellent, keep doing surveillance on him, when the time is right, we'll come for him... Hail HYDRA!" Arnim Zola tells the operative.
"Hail HYDRA."
Later on Roosevelt Island, Spider-Man arrived outside the entrance to the Spider-Cave with Miles Morales who's dressed in his track suit, Miles is confused as to why they're outside an abandoned subway tunnel.
"What are we doing out here?" Miles is curious.
"You'll see, come on." Spider-Man tells Miles.
The entrance has opened as Spider-Man and Miles walked into the tunnel together, Miles is confused as to why Spider-Man brought him into a subway tunnel, they've reached the end of the line as Miles's eyes widen, he found what appears to be a secret base of Spider-Man with all sort of equipment and resources at his disposal.
"Whoa!!!" Miles is stunned by what he's seeing.
"Welcome to the Spider-Cave." Spider-Man welcomed Miles into his Spider-Cave.
Miles walks around and finds many things here, a supercomputer, a fabrication machine, a workshop, sparring mat, a Wing Chun dummy, a punching bag, glass cases full of spider suits, a couple of spider-cycles, and a incomplete Spider-Mobile.
"Dang, this place is quite homey! So why did you bring me here?" Miles is curious.
"Because we still have training to do and I'm still going to train you." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"You serious? Even after how things didn't work out the first time." Miles told Spider-Man.
"I admit, I had some doubts, but I'm here." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Thanks, and listen, I'm sorry if I didn't live up to your expectations of being your new sidekick. I've never done this whole hero work thing before and I know that I still have a lot to learn before I'm ready, but I'll do my best to learn from you." Miles told Spider-Man.
"Tell you the truth, I still have a lot to learn too. I'm still new to this whole mentoring thing and I wasn't sure how to teach you, but I promise you this, I'll do my very best to train you into the hero I know you can be." Spider-Man tells Miles.
"Thanks." Miles told Spider-Man.
"If this whole mentorship is going to work, then I think it's best that you know who you're learning from. Let's try meeting each other again." Spider-Man says to Miles.
Spider-Man put his hand on his mask and pulls it off his head, he shows Miles his true face, Miles couldn't believe who Spider-Man is underneath the mask, it's the photographer he just meet yesterday, Peter Parker.
"You?!" Miles is shocked.
"Yeah, it's me. My name is Peter Parker, and I'm the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man." Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Miles smiled as Spider-Man trust him enough to share his secret identity with him, it's a first step in their partnership, Peter agreed to train Miles to his sidekick.
