Family Can Comes As If By Magic

Chapter 24

Tick...Tock...Tick...Tock

The clock was the sound that could be heard as Sofia sat nervously in the small room that her Uncle Roland had set up in one of the many used rooms for his niece's therapy, it's close enough to Cedric's tower to reassure the wizard that if something were to happen he would be right there to help.

After Sofia's breakdown and agreement to seek help, Cedric along with the King, Queen and his parents went through a list of therapists that dealt with magical children.

It took some interviewing and doing very through background checks, before finally settling on one.

Emery Moore, a woman in her 40's stood at 5' 2", married with children, became a child/teen therapist after watching her older brother and others like him suffer from magical meltdowns and not survive, she wanted to make sure that no child or teen suffered the same grim fate. She was also a natural born Empath and sometimes that helped while working with her patients.

When Sofia saw her come in, she felt nervous and even a little ashamed.

Sensing her patient's unease, Emery reaches into the small basket full of what appears to be toys for smaller children, putting whatever it was in her pocket and goes over to were Sofia was, smiling kindly.

"Come with me Sofia."

Sofia gets up and follows the older woman, taking note at how small but cozy her office space was as it had children's drawings on various parts of the walls, a small desk with a several books and paperwork, and 3 chairs in a triangle facing each other and a few toys and books for kids to look at.

"Here." Sofia blinks a bit confused and surprised when she presented with what appears to be a ball of some kind taking it she fiddles with it only for start glow and water like substance started to swirl around, she looks up at the therapist curious.

Emery smiles reassuringly as she starts to explain.

"It is a magical calming orb, when it comes into contact with a magic user, it will find the one thing that will make you calms at your core and I guess your calming element is water, now you can look at this whenever you feel stressed or upset."

Sofia looks at flow and swirling waves of the water, letting it calm and soothed the tension she had been carrying throughout her body.

"So tell me about yourself, Sofia." Emery said calmly as to not startle the girl to much.

"I am not sure where to start." the young sorceress in training admits shyly.

"How about school? What is your favorite subjects, do you have friends, a significant other?"

Sofia took little to no time answering.

"School is okay some days are better then others, my favorite subject is Potions, yes I have a few friends and no to the last one."

Emery nods, "Can you tell me what a normal day is for you?"

Sofia thought about it and explained, "I wake up, get ready for school, eat breakfast with Papa, hang out with my cousins as we get dropped off to school, my cousin James tells the most silly of jokes, he thinks that they are funny, Amber his twin just roll her eyes, while both Maddie and I just laugh just for his sake."

"What's a typical school day for you?"

"After I get dropped off I greet my classmates, we go to our to our classes, I really enjoy learning ways of magic and how different types can be used for different things, like how Runes can be used for defense as away of protecting your home, your family, even yourself, although using Runes on yourself isn't taught until you are a senior, but anyways, I have lunch, go to my last classes of the day and then we hang out during recess before going, sometimes my Papa or Athena's dad will come pick us up as a sort of surprise."

Then Sofia started to get upset after mentioning her friend and father and what she had done finally sunk in, she takes the tissues that Emery offered.

"What has you so upset?" Emery asked gently.

Sofia shakes her as she continues to cry for a good few minutes, Emery waits patiently as the girl started to calm down, she decided to try again.

"I know that this sounds cliché, but you know if you talk about it, it might make you feel better."

Sofia again shakes her head, looking down at her hands which started to tremor as feelings of guilt, panic and fear started to eat at her, she felt like her chest was being squeezed as if the wind was knocked out of her, she tried to breath through it, but the tightness didn't go away making her feel helpless.

Emery quickly gets up and goes to Sofia's side and grabs the calming ball that had been dropped at some point and puts into the tremoring hands watching as calming magic did it's job as Sofia sat slumped in her chair, expression blank as tears still trailed down her face.

A little alarmed, Emery quickly alerts Cedric, who quickly comes into the room in a puff of smoke, he sees the state of his child and quickly does a scan, finding nothing physically wrong, he kneels down to the girl's level, gently cradling her face wiping away tears as he stares into the her bright green eyes, normally so full of life and emotion, were blank.

"Sofia? Sweetie, it's Papa."

But he got no responds, turning his attention to Emery he asked, "What happened?"

"She mention something about a friend of hers at school and started to have a panic attack, I quickly give her the calming orb and well this is the result, my guess is whatever triggered her, has something to do with this friend." Emery explained.

Cedric looks down at his child sadly, sighing heavily he gently scoops up Sofia, smiling as she snuggles into his chest, but quickly somber up as he turns his full attention back to the therapist.

"A few weeks ago Sofia had done something extremely foolish and as a result I had to punish her, I didn't realize that she struggling emotionally until her friend, confronted me about it, Sofia overheard and was upset, the friend ran after her trying to apologize, but was soon met with a wand between the eyes, everyone in was in shock, but I quickly summoned her wand to me, when she fully realized what she had done, something in her snapped and without much warning, she screamed as if in agony, her magic started to become unstable, I quickly cast a shield and brought her straight to my father, who put her in a healing cocoon to help stabilized her magic, he explained that Sofia had a magical meltdown and if it wasn't for my quickly thinking, we would not be here."

Emery was surprised, but now understood why her patient reacted the way she did.

"I suggest Sofia get some rest and if she still not speaking, don't be alarmed, just be patience and calm, try to make yourself available to listen to her if she needs to talk and comfort her if needed, but doesn't you can't be firm with her at times, structure and routine are important as well, same time and day next week?"

Cedric nods and leaves room this time through the door, carrying a now sleeping Sofia in his arms, he quickly makes his way upstairs to his tower, where he puts Sofia to bed, deciding that he didn't want to leave her side, he quickly kneels down and puts his head down using his right arm as a pillow, while using another to take his child's hand in his and soon enough he was fast asleep.
