"Thanks for letting me know Chip and you have my permission to miss some class but not all of it, ok. And I will let your teacher know why you will be late. After all, you have a very special project that needs attending to. Is that correct?"
"Special project sir?" Asked Chip with a questionable look on his face wondering what his principal was talking about. "What special project are you… Oh! You mean that special project. Well…why yes I do and thank you Mr. Talbot sir." Said Chip with a slight blush on his face.
"You're very welcome Chip and so you know, I will have to report this to Dave. And I will have to report this to your parents and Ashley's parents as well. But we'll do that together at home, alright Chip."
"Ok, sir." Said Chip feeling like he was going to be in trouble with his parents. But ok with it at the same time.
"Now before you go run off to find Ashley in the girl's bathroom, I didn't report the extra activity that you did a few weeks ago with Alvin and his brothers. But I am glad you told me about it and proud of you for doing three Saturday detentions with Alvin. And I want to personally thank you for helping Alvin with his reading during his other detention that you volunteer for. So off you go and take care of your special project and I will take care of business at my end." Talbot said as he watch Chip leave his office to take care of his friend.
At this point, Talbot was very disappointed with Brittany and how she acted toward her friends. But still, no matter what Talbot thought, he knew Dave would be even more disappointed when he hears about this. So he then called Miss Kate the art teacher and informed her that Ashley and Chip would be late for class for other reasons. Then got up and to find Derek in the boy's locker room.
'Ok Brittany, what has gotten into you lately. You have no excuse for your actions.' Thought Mr. Talbot as he walk to the gym to find Derek.
"Ok Derek, that's enough of that for now and you may come to my office so we can talk."
"OK sir," said Derek as he got off the bathroom floor from scrubbing it with a toothbrush with his hand. 'Oh man this is so humiliating and I can't believe I was forced to clean the boy's gym bathroom with this stupid, stupid toothbrush.'
"Derek, I'm going to level with you right now. And I had a very good reason why you had to clean the gym bathroom with a toothbrush. Instead of you doing your normal detention like you always do."
"…" 'I was wondering about that and I guess I will find out why,' Thought Derek.
"You see Derek your father is at his ends with you and with how you are doing in school. So he wants to send you to military school right now. So starting tomorrow morning you probably will be put on a bus and sent to military school. Where you'll be staying from now on until you properly graduate from the academy."
"…" Derek just sat there with his mouth open very shocked and surprised to hear such news. 'I didn't know I made him that upset.'
"But the good news is I was able to persuade him not to send you to military school at this time. And you don't wanna know what I went through to persuade him. So you can consider yourself very lucky this year. Understand," said Talbot before going to thought. 'I still can't believe I had to change into a damn werewolf and scare him half to death yesterday evening to get him to change his mind about his son. But man the poor guy almost had a heart attack when he saw me with my fangs.'
"Yes Sir." 'Exactly what did Mr. Talbot do to change my dad's mind? Because once it's made up, he doesn't change it for anything. And I do mean nothing at all!' Derek asked himself.
"So instead of you going on that bus to military school tomorrow, you'll be going on another bus to Unusugawakaka summer camp for the whole summer….and that's for all twelve weeks at camp, ok. Now before you get excited think that you're free and clear. Well, I'm here to tell you that you're not. You're being sent up there as volunteer work where you'll be watched like a hawk in the sky. So you are on a very tight leash with no slack and your leash could snap at any moment."
"Exactly how close do you mean by that sir?" Derek asked his principal.
"That's a fair question. A report will be filled out every day on your actions, the good and the bad. If you make any kid cry for whatever reason, it gets reported right away and gets faxed to my office here at school where I read them. And of course, your dad gets to read your daily report as well." Mr Talbot said.
"Oh!? So that's how close I will be watching," Said Derek a little worried.
"Now let us talk about why I had you clean the boys gym bathroom as I did and if you think that was bad… The military school has other punishments that are far worse than just cleaning bathrooms with a toothbrush. And I wanted and to give you a small tease of what to expect if you do happen to go to military school for any reason."
"You mean that's for real and there are other punishments that are far worse than that! Oh god, oh god I'm—"
"Easy!" Talbot said cutting in. "Take it easy my lad. I don't want you to get so worked up that you wind up getting yourself into trouble ok. Now just take a breather and just listen to me while you sit there, understand."
"Ok sir," Derek said as he nods his head yes.
"As you know I went through a little bit of trouble in convincing your dad about sending you. So what I want in return is, I want you to evaluate your life. What you were doing, how it's going, what your actions do to others, and how others see you as a person. I want you to use your time at summer camp as a volunteer to think hard about yourself and how to be a better person in return. And I believe there is good in you when others do not see it. Because I believe you can be a good boy or a good young man."
"I understand sir and…thanks for giving me second chance when I probably didn't deserve it." said Derek
"You're welcome my lad," said Mr Talbot. "Now before you go back to your detention that you were doing in the boy's gym locker room with the bathrooms and I still want you to do that for the remainder of your detention period. There is more I want to tell you and I want you to understand just how important it is."
Mr Talbot continued. "I would like a twenty-page, front and back, handwritten report from you on your experience at camp Unusugawakaka for all twelve weeks. Your report will be graded as your final grade for this school year. So the better the report is, the better your grade will be. And I must remind you again, your report has to be an 'A+' for you to get a C average as your final grade this year. So if I were you, I would start a journal and write everything you did every day down to the finest detail."
"I understand sir and that's probably a good idea to do!" Said Derek as he left the office before going to thought. 'I'm so doomed. There's no way I'm going to be able to pull that off now… DEREK YOU IDIOT, GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF RIGHT NOW! You have to get that 'A+' no matter what. Or face life as a little soldier boy and which I'm not looking forward to do.'
"Ok Sergeant Dobkins, you can come out now from listening in from the other room and are you finally satisfied with my choices." Mr Talbot asked Sergeant Dobkins.
"Yeah…yeah, I am Mr. Talbot. And just so you know, I do love my boy. But right now I'm…I just don't know what to do and the military is all I know… general sir."
"Daniel! We're not the military here at school and you probably should do what I just told your son Derek this summer. Take time to look at yourself and try to be an ordinary dad to your son instead of a military dad. And are you doing OK Sergeant Dobkins? Because you're acting like some monster busted your door down, came in, and threaten to take your soul from your body if you didn't give your son a second chance." Mr. Talbot said before going to thought. 'I do believe I might have gone a little bit overboard with the werewolf threat.'
"Yeah…yeah I find Mr. Talbot and I just have other things on my mind right now," said Sergeant Dobkins before going to thought. 'I will never forget those huge fangs dripping with saliva as long as they live. I mean that thing was like a seven-foot-something tall werewolf at my house last evening when that thing ripped my door off the hinges. Then threaten to take my very soul to the underworld. And then made huge gouges with its talons on the side of my poor truck. Right now I'm just glad my son wasn't home to see that mythical creature.'
Sergeant Dobkins Continued. "I better get back to my gym class Mr. Talbot and I will try what you ask me this summer. Maybe this summer camp thing will send my son down the right path."
"Now that's the Spirit Sergeant Dobkins," said Talbot as he watched Sergeant Dobkins go back to his class.
And it wasn't very long before Derek came back to inform Mr. Talbot what Brittany just did to Alvin's clothes with a pair of scissors in the boy's gym locker room. Then he heard from Chip about Brittany as he was going back to class with Ashley.
And so Mr. Talbot wasn't too surprised to see Alvin running to his office with a few tears in his eyes from being laughed at and humiliated because of what he was left with to wear and not by choice. And Alvin's gym clothes were far too dirty to wear to his other classes.
"Alvin easy. Take it easy and I will find something else for you to wear besides what you have on. You even may stay here in this room for the rest of the day with my permission to miss the rest of your classes. And I'm truly sorry to hear what happened to your other clothes. I will get to the bottom of this and will make this right. I will let Simon know that you're with me not feeling very well this afternoon." Said Talbot as he left his office with a very upset Alvin hiding in his office.
As Talbot walked down the school hallway to Miss Smith's class to let Simon know and the rest of the Seville chipmunk clan. He was bothered by Brittany and what she did. 'Brittany! What has gotten into you and you have goon too far this time.'
"Miss Smith, I need to talk with Simon and the rest of the chipmunk clan for a few minutes in private please."
"Why…why yes of course you can. Is everything ok and is Alvin in trouble again? Because I don't see him in my class right now."
"Everything is fine Miss Smith. Alvin's not in trouble and he's…ah not feeling very well in my office and has a very good reason for missing the rest of his classes. But however one of the clan Ette's members is in seriously deep trouble and I didn't mean trouble with a T."
"You mean one of the girls is in trouble?" Said Miss Smith a little surprised.
"Yeah! Just one of the girls and when you see the PINK one again for doing errands for you. You send her directly to my office. The PINK one doesn't get to pass go or collect two hundred dollars. Or gets to do anything else for the rest of the day because she is in chipmunk jail until Dave gets here."
"I understand Mr. Talbot," said Miss Smith before turning her attention to the class again. "Ok chipmunk clan and I do mean all of the chipmunks. The principal would like to have a word with all of you in the hallway. So please bring your stuff with you when you leave class. As for the rest of the class, please put all of your desks and chairs on the south side wall. Because I have another assignment that everyone is going to do together."
And so Simon and Theodore. Eleanor and Jeanette. Chip and Ashley all got up with their stuff and went into the school hallway waiting for Mr. Talbot to talk with them. And Simon was the first to ask the question that was on everyone's minds.
"Mr. Talbot sir. Is my brother in trouble again for something he did today?" Asked Simon with a little worry.
"Don't worry Simon your brother is not in trouble. But you and Theodore need to be with your brother right now and he needs you at his side. So you both may go and help him calm down. And when you see him, you'll both will understand why he's upset."
"I understand Mr. Talbot and let us go, Theodore. Let's go and find out what has happened to our brother," said Simon as he walked with his little brother to the principal's office to see what has happened to there brother.
"Eleanor and Jeanette, your sister did something that I'm not very happy about and I have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior. Including zero tolerance for hurting other people's feelings. So please go and help Alvin feel better. This includes you to Ashley. And don't worry, Brittany will be punished for what she did today."
"We understand Mr. Talbot," Eleanor said as she walked with her sister and Ashley to the principal's office.
"And Chip, I'm sorry if I made you feel singled out from the rest of the group, but I wanted to talk to you alone from everyone else."
"I was feeling a little bit singled out sir, but I figured you must have a very good reason why." Chip said.
"Well I did Chip and has to do with a personal favor coming from me and has to do with when you saw Brittany's with that super frilly puffy pink dress about an hour ago." …Talbot sighted a little… "Chip, there's no real easy way to say this but to be bluntly. Chip I want to know if you could and would be willing to lend out your yellow outfit that your wearing right now. So Alvin so he can have something better to wear for the rest of the day."
"Well," said Chip as he blushed a little at the thought of having to wear his shorts and a T-shirt for a few hours until he got home. "Doesn't Alvin usually have other clothing he can wear? Not saying I won't lend out my yellow dress because I can. It's just feels… awkward and a little bit embarrassing."
"Chip. You know I would never ask unless it it is really important and Alvin has nothing else to wear but a super frilly pink puffy dress. Even his gym clothes are too dirty to wear for the rest of the day. So he has nothing else because someone took a pair of scissors and turned Alvin's other clothes that he was going to wear after PE and turn them into pieces of rags."
"So that's what Brittany did with the pink dress that I saw just a while ago and I guess I could wear gym clothes for the rest of the day, sir. So yeah Alvin can borrow my yellow dress. But…um…can… Would it be right if I spent the rest of the day hanging with Alvin at his home? And can you let him know I'm here for him?"
"I'll send the message for you and yes you may Chip. But only if Alvin is up to it ok." Said Talbot before going to thought. 'Chip and Ashley are such good lads and I never thought having kids live with me would be so nice and fun. But I know it's only temporary and I will have to accept when the day comes for those two rascals to move out… But I sure will miss having both of them around this summer.'
"Mr. Talbot sir, would it be all right if stayed and helped Sergeant Dobkins for the rest of the day? It is because I… I'd rather not be seen without my usual dress on sir."
"It's all right Chip and yes you may. "Said Talbot with a smile.
Several minutes later.
"Well if it isn't little miss pink sunshine and you better have a seat in the other chair next to Alvin."
"Oh, Alvin I just love the new pink outfit that you wearing and it brings your crystal blue eyes out more than ever." Said Brittany as she laugh at him as she sat down. For she thought she had gotten away with doing what she did about an hour ago.
"Don't get too cocky little miss O'Neill Miller and you're in more trouble than you think. Even in more trouble than Alvin right now. But Alvin is in trouble for a far different reason all together than what you think."
"…" 'What! I've never been called that before and what does Mr. Talbot mean by that,' asked Brittany to herself.
"Now Alvin, you may go and change in the next room. Because I have found something else for you to wear for the time being. However, it won't be your favorite thing to wear. But it's better than what you're wearing right now that Brittany left for you and what Brittany did to your clothes during PE practice."
"I did not do such a thing and I was never in there. It's not my fault that Alvin has to wear a… (sight of Brittany laughing at Alvin.) Has to wear a super frilly pink puffy dress after PE practice today."
"Alvin don't!" Spoke Mr. Talbot in a raised voice catching Alvin's full attention before he could speak. "Not a word and please go and change in the next room. While you are changing, I need to have a serious talk with little miss O'Neill Miller sunshine here for a few minutes anyways. Besides I don't want you to accidentally say something out loud that will get you in trouble with me. And it is not my fault that these walls are thin enough that you still can listen to what is being said in the next room with your ear next to the wall. Understand?"
"Y…y-yes-sir." Said Alvin in a very upset voice as he slowly march into the next room to change. He had been humiliated and laughed at by almost everyone except the teacher and a few other students in PE practice. When his clothes were shredded into rags and left with nothing to wear but a pink filly dress after PE practice was done.
"Now as for you little Miss Brittany Miller. Got anything to say for your actions that you did today?"
"Well… he—"
"Did what!" Said Talbot as he interrupted Brittany from speaking more. "Skip the rest of his classes after PE practice today and ran to my office for protection. I don't blame him for doing that. And I told the rest of his teachers he was excused for other reasons. So I went ahead and waved all that off. So what did Alvin do to you so bad that you had to get even with him as you did?"
"Well… It was his fault that I broke all of my fingernails off and—" Brittany said when Talbot cut her off again.
"Brittany! That's no excuse for what you did to Alvin's clothes and for calling your friend's names as you did. So what is this really about? Is it really about that simple prank he pulled on you by switching your T-shirts each day? Or is it about that assignment that Alvin and his brother did for extra credit a few weeks ago when they weren't in school? And yes it was funny to see you exercise like crazy every day. Even in class, it still was fun to see you going crazy with exercising. So again… Why did you cut up all of Alvin's clothes and left him that pink dress."
"I said I had nothing to do with that and there's no way you can't prove it Mr know all."
"Brittany! Mind your manners in front of me and are you sure you want to go with that answer? I would think very hard first before you answer me again. So what is it?"
"I didn't do anything…sir."
"Very well and I'm so disappointed in you. But I will advise you again to think HARD about your answer." Said Mr. Talbot as he slammed his hand against his desk catching Brittany's full attention.
"…" A very shocked Brittany said nothing this time as she looked at her principal with her crystal blue eyes wondering if she should've said something else.
"That's what I thought you might say, Brittany." Said Talbot as he got up to get Alvin in the next room as well as to make sure he was going to be ok.
"Alvin, are you doing ok?" Site from Alvin shaking his head no and still upset and not wanting to answer. "I'm sorry to hear that Alvin. Really I am."
"Thanks, sir, but do I really have to wear this? I mean it is still a dress and I traded dress one for another dress."
"Oh Alvin come here and I'm truly sorry but it was all I could find under short notice. I even went to Floyd Dotson the drama teacher for some help. And everything he had was all in boxes for the year. So this was all I could get you and you know the school's policy for clothing."
"I understand sir. I just wish it wasn't a dress. But it is better than the pink one that I was wearing."
"Yes, it is Alvin and Its out on a lone from another student and he wishes to have a back real soon today. So he will come and get it from you when you are at home feeling better. So when you see him, you really should thank him a lot for his generosity and help. And I already thanked the other student that wishes to be anonymous that help you me and you for this unique predicament."
"You mean it's a he and not a she? Well, there's only one that I know of and it's…Chip. You mean Chip gave me his yellow dress that he always wears all the time and would never wear anything else unless if he had to?" Said Alvin being an a-little surprise.
"Yes it is Alvin and you and Chip are kinda like the same way and he was embarrassed when he give it up for you to wear. So you have a true friend and Chip is hiding with Sergeant Dobkins for the rest of the day. But he'll be home in a little while and Chip give me the impression that he wanted to spend the rest of the day with you at your home. That's if you are up to it."
"I will give Chip a call and thank him for what he did for me. I'll even ask him to come over for a bit so I can personally think of him again in person. And besides, Chip probably will want his yellow dress back. Even though I do tease him from time to time for being a Scottish chipmunk that likes wearing dresses… He's still cool by my book and he knows it's for fun when I tease him."
Alvin continues. "Besides other than Ashley, Chip likes to play pranks with me as much as possible as I like to play pranks. And I think that's why we hit it off so well when we met each other at camp and I found out that he was moving to my town."
"I'm glad you're feeling a little bit better now and I'm glad you're going to thank Chip personally. Now onto the next thing and it has to do with your grades for the end of the school year and the real reason why you're in trouble."
"I'm gonna have to attend summer school because of having poor grades, aren't I." Said Alvin as his ears dropped low from not liking the idea and being sad about the idea of Summer school.
Then suddenly Talbot and Alvin heard Brittany saying through the wall… "HA! I knew it you were in trouble for some reason at school and—"
"Not another word little Miss Miller. You're in more trouble than you think you are." Spoke Talbot cutting her off before returning to Alvin and putting a good silence on Brittany.
"Alvin…I'm going to talk to Dave outside about your grades and chin up a little ok. Try to put a smile on for me. Because it might not be as bad as you may think."
"I'll try to sir." Said Alvin with a nod as he tried to give something of a weak smile.
"That's better. Now please come with me and have a seat next to me. I want you to sit next to me and Brittany will sit on the other side of me until Dave comes. I Will make sure Brittany doesn't talk to you and you don't talk to her. I will be the divider and I have another reason why I'm doing this and its something I want you both to see with me."
And so Mr. Talbot came walking in with Alvin who was now wearing a yellow dress instead of a pink one like before. As ordered, Alvin took his seat next to Mr. Talbot and Brittany sat on the other side.
"Now I have your guy's undivided attention for the moment and Brittany, I gave you three chances to come clean with me. So now you'll pay the extra price for your actions and I would be very quiet from now on until you see what I have to show you both. Because I have a cute little video I want you both to see first. And after you both see it, I want an explanation. A damn good one for what happened. Especially you Brittany."
Just then Brittany started a little smirk on her face thinking she was in the clear until Talbot said something to her again to get her attention
"Don't even think about it Brittany until I show you what I have on my tablet. It's quite funny to see someone sneaking around in school and off of school when they were posted to be in class. Especially watching it in my office on my tablet." Said Talbot as he got his tablet out and when he did, it made Brittany cringe in fear and made her go all quiet. She didn't even bother to make a peep at all.
"…" 'The school has cameras now! When do they get cameras and…oh god I'm soo doom.' Thought Brittany as she tried to hide in her seat.
"Alvin, what does that image look like you?" Talbot asked out of curiosity. "Please tell me so I know I'm not seeing things myself."
"We'll…" Said Alvin nervously for other reasons. "It looks like… I think it looks like a chipmunk…rather a Chipettes to me wearing…pink sir."
"Yeah, that's what I thought so too Alvin." And When Talbot said that, it made Brittany sink into her chair. "Now let's see if I can zoom in just a little bit more on the image and see who it is….shall we."
The more Talbot zoomed in on the image, the more it made Brittany cringe in fear and sink into the chair even further. So much that she wanted to disappear and now Brittany knew she was caught on camera.
"Now what do you see Alvin and can you please describe what you see the best way you can in details"
"Well the Chipette likes wearing pink with a pink dress. Has black tights on and pink shoes with red hearts. Has blonde hair in a high ponytail with a pink bow in it. Has her nails painted pink and has a pair of gold colored scissors going into the boy's locker room. Then comes back out doing the yes sign with her right arm and hand. Then runs out of the Picture…but comes back twenty—eight minutes later with a pink filly dress that has the letter 'B' on it. Exactly like the one I was forced to wear after PE practice. Then sneaking into the boy's locker room again then come back out jumping up and down for joy. Then she hears the gym doors start to open up before running out of the picture."
"I think there's one more slight detail you might have missed Alvin and that's the best part of all. So what did the shirt say that that this unknown Chipettes have on…that did all this to your clothes. And here let me zoom in a lot more for you to read ok."
"Well, it reads…D-i-t-r-t-t….NO! I mean it reads… B-r-i-t-t-a-n-y, Brittany, r-u-l-e-s, rules. Brittany rules. Sir." Said Alvin as starting to get upset when Talbot said something else to add to that.
'Hump!' Thought Britany. 'Stupid Alvin can't even read properly at all… Exactly what is dyslexics anyways and why does he keep getting his letters confused?' Thought Brittany to herself when she got a warning glare from Talbot not to say a thing.
"Easy Alvin, take it easy. You did very well and you're getting better with your reading. So why don't you go and sit with your brothers, sisters, and friends who are waiting for you outside of my office? And I have a lot more to say to Brittany that only involves her now. And Alvin…don't worry I will get things straightened up with Dave about your school work ok."
"Ok sir," said Alvin as he got up and walked out the door to the office. And as soon as he stepped out the door, he got several hands waving at him to come over to have seat with them.
"Ok Brittany. I do Believe it's time you started talking and don't try to deny you didn't do it this time. Because I have you on camera and a few key witnesses that saw you. One of them saw you leave school grounds which is forbidden to do and the other one saw you cut up Alvin's clothing in the boy's locker room. So what were you even thinking."
"I umm…"
"The problem is Brittany you weren't thinking at all and you're lucky it's the end of the school year. Or otherwise, you would be expelled for two weeks from school. But what I can do is give you eight hours of Saturday detention because of the action you did today."
"Hey, that's no fair to punish me like that. What About Alvin when he skipped school three weeks ago." Brittany said as she try to argue about fairness.
"You want to talk about being fair. You cut up Alvin's clothing into pieces and then left him with a pink dress to wear afterward. And speaking of which, you're not going to get it back today and I have other plans for it tomorrow. And since you are on the subject of being fair. How about all those times when you talked about him on your blog and tried to humiliate him in some way? Not to mention you've gotten worse in the last three weeks in going after Alvin and yet, I don't know why."
Talbot continued. "As far as Alvin when he skipped school along with his brothers and a certain friend of there's. They were doing and were working on a very special project which I already know about and they made it up with detention. So you think it's really fair to Alvin that you always go after him on your blog? Well…do you?"
Probably not very fair…sir." Brittany said quietly.
"Probably not. That's all your gonna say for your actions today… Brittany! You are going to have to learn your limits and—" Was all Talbot could say when his secretary came knocking on the door to let him know Dave has arrived
"Mr. Talbot sir, Dave Seville is here," said the secretary.
"Thank you Miss Meadows. Tell Dave I will be right out to talk to him and Brittany, you stay put until you are physically called out. Understand!" Said Talbot leaving his office.
"Yes sir." Said Brittany in a firm unhappy tone. 'I wonder if this is how Alvin feels when he gets the hot seat and this seat really is hot because my butt feels like its on fire right now. And maybe cutting up his clothes wasn't such a good idea to do after all. But I will find another way to get even with that backstabber, to-cutter tramp pervert
that sneaks in to girls dressing rooms, that also likes wearing dresses on stage when Alvin cheated on me. AND ALVIN, I PROMIS YOU WILL REGRET EVER SEEING THOSE OTHER FOUR GIRLS BEHIND MY BACK ON STAGE THREE WEEKS AGO. I PROMISE YOU WILL REGRET EVER DOING THAT.' Thought Brittany as she got angry again.
"Thanks for coming Dave and you might wanna have a seat on the bench next to the tree."
"Very well, so what did Alvin do this time." Said Dave as he took a seat expecting to hear really bad news about Alvin.
"Dave he's not really in trouble but is a victim himself from another student. But Alvin is in trouble for a different kind of trouble that has to do with his school grade and I'll get to that in a little bit. But right now Alvin needs you at his side. Let him know you are there for him, ok."
"Huh?" Dave said. "Then what do you mean Mr. Talbot?"
"Dave, just go get your kids and then you'll understand when you see them."
And so Dave went to go get his kids as soon as he stepped through the door, he noticed all of his kids were there except for Brittany. But was very surprised to see Alvin wearing a yellow dress.
"What happened to—" Was all Dave could say when Miss Meadows cut him off.
"Mr. Seville. You may go ahead and take the small group that's waiting for you on the bench outside of Mr. Talbot's office. And Ashley. You all may go with Mr. Seville as well and Mr. Seville, here is what's left of Alvin's clothes." Said Miss Meadows as she handed Dave a small bag of Shred-it-up clothing that used to be a red hoodie with a blue pair of pants.
"Alvin, what did you do too—" Said Dave as Simon eagerly cut him off.
"Alvin didn't do anything this time Dave and he's been through enough already." Said Simon as he rubbed his oldest brother's back.
"Yeah Dave and you didn't see him having to wear one of Brittany's pink dresses after PE practice." Said Theodore adding his two cents worth trying to make his brother feel better.
"Or being called mean names by our stupit pink sister during lunchtime. Which is why my stupid pink sister has the hot seat in Mr. Talbot's office right now." Eleanor said after Theodore. Who still was mad and she showed it with her eyes being black as ever.
"Wait! What!" Said Dave very shocked to hear such news as a ton of bricks hit him hard.
"Mr. Seville," said Miss Meadows getting Dave's full attention. "Mr. Talbot is waiting for you outside and he eagerly wants to speak with you alone in privacy. And Ashley, I will tell Chip to meet you at Mr. Seville's car ok."
"Ok Miss Meadows," said Ashley feeling better about Chip's whereabouts when she saw Miss Meadows leave the front desk.
"Dave," said Simon speaking up and getting his attention. "We'll all be waiting in the car for you and let's go Alvin."
"Alvin waits up," said Dave as he picked him up to give his son a reassuring hug. "We'll talk later today when you're feeling up to it ok. But for right now go ahead and go with Simon and the rest of the gang. I promise to make this right, ok Alvin."
"Ok Dave," Alvin said with understanding as he walked with everyone outside to Dave's car.
And pretty soon Ashley saw Chip sneaking around from bush to bush and that made her let off a few giggles while watching him get closer and closer to the car. And Chip was trying his best not to be seen in his white gym clothes, which had some sort of a cute unicorn picture on the front of the shirt with his yellow bow on his tail. But for some reason or another, it really bothered him to be seen like that when he couldn't wear his favorite thing. Or wear what he's used to wearing all the time around everyone.
"There's my panda that likes unicorns," said Ashley with a slight tease as she let off a few giggles.
"Panda? Oh…you mean me." Said Chip with a slight blush on his face as he smiled before Ashley started to play with his ears and that made him happy.
=I=I=
"Dave… Alvin's school grades aren't very good for the end of the school year and when that happens, most students have to get more schooling. However, I did take into consideration of Alvin's dyslexia and his needing reading glasses. So with those two combined, that was the cause of him getting low grades in school. However, his grades have significantly increased a lot since getting help. So as the chipmunk's Principal, Alvin does need to go to summer school and really should go this year. Which will aid, prep, and help him a lot for next school year."
Talbot continued. "But right now I don't want to be the Principal. I want to be your friend and your good caring neighbor instead. So as a good friend and a caring neighbor…who also happens to be the chipmunk's babysitter from time to time. I think Alvin really should be able to go to his summer camp for the summer instead and I have a really good reason for this Dave."
"But you just said Alvin needs more schooling and—"
"Dave!" Said Talbot cutting Dave off. "You're not listing to me. I'm telling to you to let Alvin go to his summer camp this year and No "ifs," "and," "could I" or "buts," about it. And before you ask me again about Alvin's schoolwork, I do have a plan for him next year. Next year Alvin will get a personal tutor that will help and aide him throughout the school year and up to two hours at home. So he'll get the help that he needs and he'll be able to attend the same grade as his brothers and not be held back a year. So you can thank me later because I pulled some strings so he can get the help through the school system."
"Mr. Talbot I don't like the idea of Alvin being held back a year and not being with his brothers. So if Alvin did attend summer school this summer… You're still telling me he needs someone to read with him, which will help him read better! So he can do his school work on his own with some help and not a lot of help." Spoke Dave.
"That's correct Dave, Alvin's dyslexia is giving him a hard time right now in school. And Alvin needs to re-read stuff two to three times before he finally gets it right. But what helps the most is someone there to read with him while he does the reading out loud. But he needs a brake from so much schooling, or otherwise, he could get burnt out from too much schoolwork. And that's something I don't wanna see happen."
"I hate to admit it but you do have a point and Alvin already doesn't like going to school now. So more school would make him not wanna go at all and he already thinks school is something like a prison that isn't fun to him." Dave said.
"And that would make me the warden of the school prison and my office the torture chamber for all the kids," said Talbot halfway joking.
"Mr. Talbot I can't believe you even said that and you have been hanging with Alvin way too much lately. And I'm not convinced in letting Alvin go camping is the best thing for him right now. But…I mean… I'll think about it ok. But I get the feeling there's something else your not telling, but will, and it's something I need to hear…isn't!"
"Yes there is and you must understand what I'm about to tell you. And before I get into that, I have been having Alvin do his detention in my office instead of the detention hall with the other kids. So when he is with me, Chip and I help him with his stuff, and sometimes he talks with me in privet and sometimes not. So I was able to get a proper reading over time."
"…" Dave just sat there as he continue to listen to Mr Talbot and didn't say anything.
"You see Dave," said Talbot as he rubbed his chin with his right hand. "Alvin is starting to develop some mental problems. But these problems he can get through pretty easily this summer. He's already having to deal with needing glasses so he can read stuff and have to deal with his dyslexia problem. Which you found out recently when Alvin and the rest of the chipmunk gang including my two kids that stay with me got their eye exam about a month ago."
Mr. Talbot continue. "But the main problem is Brittany and how she puts stuff in her blog about Alvin. And for some reason or another, Brittany is always after Alvin in some way, and yet I don't know why. But today Brittany took the cake, the oven, and everything else that goes with the kitchen and I'll get into that. So yeah…Brittany is in deep trouble."
"…" 'What…What else did Brittany do today?' Dave asked silently to himself and was a little lost for words. But understanding what Talbot was getting at.
"Dave! I have a video of Brittany and I have two key witnesses that saw her do some stuff. But that's not all either. She also calls her friends and sisters hurtful names. But what she did the most was what she said on her blog about Alvin and school. So I'm not very happy as you can tell and I have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior in school. Derek himself would never cross those lines and yet Brittany did today. So as punishment for Brittany's actions today, she will be coming here for eight hours of Saturday detention starting tomorrow and I have enrolled Brittany for summer school for the whole summer at the same time for another reason together."
"Mr. Talbot I—" Was all Dave could say when Mr. Talbot cut in.
"Don't say Mr. Talbot to me Dave until you have all the evidence at hand…Alright. l understand you are upset and don't agree with me right now. So let me show you this video of Brittany of what she did, what she said on her blog, and how she thought she could get away with it because of the end of school." *sigh of Dave watching the video and reading Brittany's blog and about school.*
"SHE DID WHAT!" Dave said loudly for everyone to hear in the whole school parking lot.
"Now you know why Brittany gets to come for Saturday detention and why she is enrolled in summer school. Because this is the best punishment I can think of to give and you should know other schools wouldn't go so easy on her. And yet I am and it's because I know her. So she's lucky on that part. And I have already talked with Miss Miller. So she knows the deal and Miss Miller is very disappointed in Brittany."
"You are not the only one… I mean… I'm very, very upset with Brittany and she knows better than to do this… And I think I understand where you're going with this. You keeping Brittany and Alvin apart from each other for the whole summer and hope things will level off and get better. Right?"
"That's correct Dave and she's going down a path that I don't like. And I'm hoping this summer will put her down the correct path in life. So when I say this, I want you to think hard about letting Alvin go to his summer camp. After all, he needs a break from his family and his family needs a break from him. Which is why he wants to go alone this year."
"You mean…" Said Dave with a confused look first before figuring it out.
"Yes, he did Dave. Alvin talked to me a little and he explain to me why he wants to go to summer camp by himself. Alvin loves his family and he's afraid to push his family too hard one day with his unique ideas."
"I'll think about it tonight, but no promises if I let him go or not, ok. And I'm still concerned about Alvin's schoolwork and I would like him to go to summer school this year. But not all the time and maybe just two days a week. Or just enough time to help him with his reading this summer."
"OK Dave I understand your reasoning and that's doable to do a few hour a week. And just so you know…both Alvin and Brittany don't exactly know my plan and Brittany only thinks she has Saturday detention to do tomorrow. Instead of having to do summer school for the whole summer which will keep her very busy."
Talbot continued. "As for Alvin…he still believes he's gonna have to do summer school no matter what and he knows he has to be here tomorrow at 7 am for about an hour so he can do a few makeup tests that he missed today. Which will also help his grades even more. So again I think you should be the one to tell Alvin and Brittany tomorrow morning when you drop off Brittany for Saturday detention and Alvin off for the bus that can take him to camp."
"It kinda sounds like you already sign him up for summer camp without my approval…you know." Said Dave not very thrilled with his neighbor and principal for the kids.
"I did not do such a thing, Dave. But I did inform all the summer camps that there could be a few last-minute entries with kids that could be attending . And so you know, Alvin is not the only one to be picked up from school for summer camp. There are over twenty cars that are coming tomorrow morning that will have kids to be dropped off for summer camp and all the buses will be coming here to pick them all up."
"Oh? And I thought you had…sorry Mr. Talbot. You're saying there could be a chance for Alvin after all…in case if do I happen to change my mind."
"Yes and apology accepted. And here are the rules and forms to be filled out for all chipmunks that are going to camp. That's if you do happen to change your mind and the rules are very strict for all chipmunks. And the buses leave at 8:30 in the morning. So if you change your mind, have him packed and ready to go tomorrow."
"Alright Mr. Talbot I will think about it again, but no promises."
"That's all I ask for you to do Dave, is for you to think about it."
