Chapter 9: Trip

Bran woke up to an empty bed.

'Alex?'

'kitchen,' she sent the word without thinking.

She heard Bran rushing down the stairs.

"Do it again," he asked with bright eyes.

"Do what again?" she laughed.

"Talk to my head," he said eagerly.

"I talked to your head? What- oh. I didn't notice, you called me, and I answered,"

"Please," he warped her in his arms.

She giggled.

'I love you,'

He kissed her lips deeply.

"The pancakes will burn," she giggled and turned in his arms to the stove.

He rested his chin on her shoulder.

"I love you too,"

She smiled but said nothing.

It was another morning, months after her graduation, she was a werewolf for more than a year.

"Go to put on some shirt," said Alex.

"Yes ma'am,"

She laughed as he went to get fully dressed.

Alex was in some jeans and blouse.

A knock heard from the front door.

"Come in, Charles," called Alex.

"Alex?"

"Kitchen,"

Charles came in to the kitchen.

"Good morning, join us for breakfast?" suggested Alex.

"Pancakes?"

"Hm-mm," she hammed in approval.

"O.k. where is Da?"

"He went to get dressed," answered Alex.

"Oh. So, you are moving in?" asked Charles.

"No,"

"No?" asked Bran that came back, fully dressed.

"Not yet, I prefer to be eighteen first, you are an example, and since werewolves are out, more so," said Alex.

"No one know I am a werewolf; people barely know that I exists," he protested.

"It doesn't matter, your wolves know you, you can't be living with a minor," said Alex.

"But-"

"No,"

"Alex-"

"No,"

He growled at her.

"Growl at me one more time, and I will never have sex with you ever again,"

"Sorry Charles," she added.

"That's o.k." he barely held back a laugh.

"It's not funny," said Bran looking at his son.

Charles just shrugged.

"You will need to wait," declared Alex.

"But your birthday is in three months!" he protested.

"Ce la vi," said Alex.

He frowned at her.

"Come and eat, we can talk later," said Alex.

He sat next to her and took the plate of pancakes she offered him.

"Enough with the orders," he complained.

She stuck her tongue at him and started to eat.

Bran turned to his son.

"I like her," said Charles with a shrug and kept eating.

After breakfast, Charles and Bran retreated to his study while Alex drove home.

Charles wanted to take Anna to buy a horse to her twenty-sixth birthday and decided to go see an old friend that have a ranch and was breading horses.

He came to let his father know.

After he saw Anna enthusiasm over the horse, he got Alex for Christmas, he figured that could be a good gift for her as well.

"Would you asked Alex if she wants to join you? I want her to have some fun, see other places then just stay here," said Bran.

"Sure Da, I will ask her," Charles smiled.

"Thank you, son," sighed Bran.

Charles just smiled.

Bran sneaked in to her bedroom, and straight in to her bed.

"Hello," smiled Alex.

"Hello," said Bran, covering her face with small kisses.

She giggled and kissed his lips lightly.

"So I am going to a trip with Charles and Anna?"

"If you want to," said Bran.

"I wouldn't mind," she shrugged.

"We are leaving tomorrow morning," she added.

"I am going to miss you," said Bran.

"Me too," she whispered.

He started to kiss her neck. Alex bit down a growl.

He took off her hoodie (it was the same hoodie he gave her to wear after her first change) and started kissing down her body.

Alex pulled him quickly to her, kissing him deeply, while getting rid of his clothes.

They made love passionately, strongly until they reached to their peak and fell in to a deep, peaceful sleep, exhausted.

It was early in the morning when Bran woke up to the sound of running water.

He stepped in to the shower, kissing Alex, good morning.

"Good morning, I didn't mean to wake you that early," she warped her arms around him, as he kissed her neck.

"I don't mind," his hands were traveling over her body.

She sighed and giggled, "you are going to make me late,"

"They will forgive you," he mumbled to her neck.

She laughed.

They made love in the shower too.

Alex was late as she expected.

"Sorry guys,"

"You smell like Bran, and sex," stated Anna.

Alex blushed.

Charles smiled.

"His fault, not mine, I was just taking a shower," said Alex, looking innocent.

Anna made a face.

"TMI," said Anna with a frown.

"Noted," grinned Alex as they climbed to the plane.

"What is she doing back there?" asked Charles when they were in the air.

Anna looked back through the door to the passengers' part of the plane.

"Weaving a sword?"

"I can hear you guys, and I am training, when are we landing?"

"Right," said Anna.

"One hour," said Charles.

"Cool," she grinned and kept weaving her sword.

They landed, and Alex didn't have time to sheath her sword.

She was holding the sword when she went off the plane while Charles and Anna, secured the plane to the ground.

She looked up when a truck drove over, and a young man, looking like a cowboy walked to them.

Alex sniffed the air, werewolf.

Charles stood up.

"Hosteen," Charles said, "this is my mate and wife, Anna. Anna, this is Hosteen Sani, full-blooded Navajo, Alpha of the Salt River Pack, and breeder of fine Arabian horses for the past three-quarters of a century, give or take a decade,"

"Nice to meet you," said Anna.

"And the kid?" asked Hosteen.

"I was getting there, Alexandria Morgan, new mate of the Marrok," said Charles.

"Really Charles? You couldn't stop after the Morgan?" she frowned at him.

"I could, but I didn't think I should, it's important that he will know who you are,"

"I am Alex. It's nice to meet you,"

She offered her hand to Hosteen, which he shook.

"Nice to meet you miss,"

She groaned. "Thanks a lot Charles,"

"What?"

"If you keep introducing me as the Marrok's mate, people will be like that," she tilted her head to Hosteen, "cold and official, I don't need that, and I don't want that,"

"Understood," said Charles.

"Good. Now what?" asked Alex.

"Let's go to the ranch," said Hosteen and they put the bags in the back of the truck.

Hosteen gave a look to the sword Alex was putting away but said nothing.

"Someone need to go in the back, I didn't know we will be more than three, if I knew, I would have come in a car,"

"Oh! Can I go in the back? Please! It's so cool!" called Alex.

"Go then, just hold tight," said Charles, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Thanks!" she squealed and jumped in the back.

"Ready?" called Hosteen as he turned on the engine.

"Yes!" she called back happily.

They started the drive.

"Is she an adult?" asked Hosteen.

"Almost," laughed Anna.

"Doesn't look like it," said Hosteen.

"She was attacked by a rogue, and got to Aspen Creek, her parents were killed at that attack, she and my father… well, they become friends, she is a werewolf a bit more than a year. Their wolves wanted each other, and Da's wolf cut the mate bond he had with Leah,"

"So they become mates right afterwards?" asked Hosteen.

"No. Da was mate-less for a couple of months, and Alex didn't know to listen to her wolf, she was too new, she didn't know that their wolves were interested in each other. Da's wolf took over and told her what's going on, after that, it took about a week for them to consummate the bond,"

"Why so long?"

"Da was stubborn," shrugged Charles.

"I can imagine that," grinned Hosteen.

"How is Joseph?" asked Charles.

"Still human and will apparently die that way. Eighty-two, stubborn as a mule." Hosteen looked at Anna and then the road. "I wish you would change his mind about that."

"I have offered before," said Charles.

"Yes, I know. Maybe you could do more than that,"

Before Charles could say anything, Alex intervened.

"No. It's against the law, and Joseph doesn't want to be a werewolf, you can't force this life on him,"

"You don't know my son-"

"I will not let you put Bran in a position when he has to kill his son," she growled, her eyes stormy gray.

Hosteen looked at the rearview mirror for a moment, and then lowered his gaze.

"That was not the Marrok's power," stated Hosteen.

"No, that was hers. She is very dominant herself." Said Anna.

"Noted," said Hosteen dryly.

They drove quietly after that.

Alex looked at the big house that showed up out of nowhere, blending in the desert colors.

She jumped out of the back of the truck before Hosteen even fully parked. And took her bag out.

"Hello," said Alex to the old lady that was holding a broom in the front of the house.

"Hello," she looked at Charles and the woman by his side and figured that the girl in front of her was not Anna.

"I am Alex Morgan," said Alex.

"Maggie Sani," said Maggie. She looked confused.

"I am just tagging along the way, I already have a horse," said Alex.

"Alex is the Marrok's mate," said Hosteen.

Alex huffed and Hosteen grinned.

"You can keep up with Bran? Interesting,"

"I think you should ask if he can keep up with Alex, I never saw my father… disciplined before," Charles grinned.

"Disciplined? Bran?" asked Maggie, unbelieving.

"Enough Charles, really," said Alex with a groan.

"Come on in," said Maggie, chuckling.

They took off their shoes even that Maggie protested, and followed her in.

"We weren't prepared for you Alex, but this is a big house, I will find you a room,"

"Thank you," said Alex.

After leading Anna and Charles to their room, she took Alex to another room, farther than theirs.

Alex took a quick shower, put on some jeans and blue blouse, and called Bran. She missed him already.

"Hi there little wolf, how is Arizona?"

"Warm and sandy. How are you?" asked Alex.

"O.k. I miss you, thought,"

"I miss you too," she sighed.

"Hey… what's wrong?" he asked softly.

"Maybe I should have stayed with you,"

"Nah, you should have some fun,"

She laughed at his chance with today's slang.

"That's better, laughing is good," said Bran.

"I-"

"Alex! There are troubles, get over here!" called Charles.

Alex hanged up and jumped out of her bedroom window.

She landed in a crouch and rushed in to the truck, Charles and Anna were on the back, she sat by Hosteen and a young man joined them.

'Alex, what's going on?'

'I don't know, me or Charles will fill you in later. I love you,'

'I love you too, my little wolf, stay safe,'

'promise.'

"…Alex? Alex!" called Hosteen.

She opened her eyes.

"Sorry, I was talking with Bran," said Alex.

"Talking…? Oh, you can do that telepathy thing too?" asked Hosteen.

"With Bran, I never tried with someone else, and I am not going to, he can do that, it's not my place," said Alex.

"O.k."

"What's going on?"

"My grandson's wife left him some worrying messages involve blood and my grand-grand-children," said Hosteen.

She figured the young man was the grandson.

Alex's eyes went wide, "drive faster," she growled, and he did.

After stopping the truck, Charles and Anna went to the back, Hosteen and Kage went to the front.

Since Hosteen seemed too intimidate to give her an order, she followed Charles and Anna.

"The children in that room, Anna will go in there from the window," pointed Charles.

"How can I help? Come with you or go with Anna?" asked Alex.

"Come with me," he said after a thought, "another nose can be useful inside,"

She nodded and went with Charles in to the house from the back.

They walked in and split up.

Alex could hear Kage calling his wife softly, but she didn't hear an answer.

The house was fogged; it was a weird fog she didn't understood.

'Bran?'

'I am here,'

'What do you know about weird fogs indoors? It's confusing my nose,'

'Fae magic, find Charles and stay with him, please?'

'I will, thanks,'

Alex let her wolf to take over, the wolf saw better.

She got to the bleeding woman in the bathroom behind the washing machine first.

"Mrs. Sani? Can you hear me?"

"The children must bleed,"

She watched as the woman sliced her thigh with the big knife she was holding and flinch.

"Please, something in my head tells me to kill my kids, you must stop me,"

Alex went forward and-

"Alex don't!" called Charles.

But he was too late, Alex touched Chelsea Sani, and suddenly everything changed.

Chelsea Sani blinked confusedly.

"Lock-me-up-save-her," she gritted her teeth, fighting the compulsion in her head.

"NOW!" growled Alex and Charles took Chelsea away and blocked Alex's way out.

'Alex? Alex, what's going on?'

'Fae-' she gasped.

'I did a mistake,'

'Alex?'

She didn't answer. Alex was breaking every bone in her body, letting her wolf take over, hopefully she will be stronger than the Fae.

Anna's phone rang as she took the children away.

Charles was changing Chelsea in to a werewolf, and she as an omega wolf, wasn't helpful at that stage.

"Bran," said Anna.

"What's wrong with my Alex?"

"A woman was attacked by a fae, she was supposed to kill her children, she mange to resist by stubbing herself. Alex touched her before Charles could tell her not to, and now she is locked up, she managed to tell him to lock her up,"

"Do you need me there?" asked Bran.

"I am not sure, the fog is gone, so Alex may be alright," said Anna.

"Can you check?"

"I am watching the children while Charles changing the mother, she lost too much blood, she wouldn't live otherwise," she didn't say that she may not live anyway, not in front of her kids.

"Did she give her consent?" asked Bran.

"Her husband did,"

Bran sighed.

"It will go with the old wolves, I guess, keep my Alex safe, please,"

"I will," said Anna and the call disconnected.

After finishing with Chelsea, Charles walked as a wolf to the bathroom.

Listening in and hearing nothing, he turned back in to human.

"Alex? Alexandria?" he called.

A small whine came from the bathroom.

He opened the door carefully.

The little wolf walked out slowly, her eyes stormy gray.

"The wolf is in control," stated Hosteen.

"Yes, Alex was hit hard by the fae magic, I think she gave control to her wolf in the hope that she could fight that magic,"

"So what do we do now? The wolf can't be in control for too long,"

"I know, let me call my father," said Charles.

"Son," Bran picked up after the first ring.

"Da, how much are you informed?"

"Anna told me everything, I think, how is Alex?"

"She is wolf, and not in control. She is smart, the wolf form is magic, she let magic fight with magic," said Charles.

"I know she is smart, let me try to reach her, and I will call you back in a minute," said Bran and hang up.

'Wolf, fill me in, how is Alex, how are you?'

'The magic is gone, I think. Alex is scared, doesn't want to take control,'

'force her then, if the magic is gone, she will be alright, and if it's not, my son will deal with it. Let her take control,'

'I will, we miss you,'

'I miss you too,' he sighed.

Charles saw the stormy-gray turn to green.

"Hello Alex, it's o.k. the fae magic is gone, you are o.k." he stroked her furry head in comfort.

"She is tiny," said Hosteen.

Alex growled at him.

"I will shut up now," he stated.

Anna just came back with the kids.

"Hi Alex, all good?" asked Anna.

Alex nodded her furry head.

Max, the older son of Chelsea, was arguing with Hosteen.

Alex stood between them, growling at Hosteen.

He turned his gaze away and took the kids to pack. They were going to live in the ranch for a while.
