Chapter 10
The guys made their way into their cage room to see Clay sitting at the table eating ribs. They all couldn't help but smirk and smile at seeing him eating ribs at just after nine in the morning.
"They smell good, but I bet they don't taste as good as mine." Sonny commented.
"You can make ribs?" Clay asked, very interested now.
"I can barbecue anything. I'm from Texas, we know how to barbecue. If I grab one, are you gonna eat my hand?" Sonny asked with a smirk.
"People don't taste good, but you owe me ribs one day." Clay said back with his own smile.
"That is a deal I will take." Sonny said, as he picked up one of the ribs.
"Where do you get your food? First a bacon cheeseburger and now ribs. Where are you going?" Ray asked, as he leaned against the entrance of his cage.
"I know a few diners that are open twenty-four-seven and they always make me whatever I want off the menu." Clay said with a shrug.
"They ain't bad. One day though I'll make you real barbecue and you'll see how ribs are supposed to taste like." Sonny said, as he tossed the bone away.
"You seem to be in a good mood Clay." Trent commented, as he looked around the room at his brothers.
"Compared to?" Clay asked, waiting to see what Trent was getting at.
"Compared to bitchy. You've been bitchy almost the whole time you've been on the team. I don't think I've seen you smile." Sonny said, knowing Trent wasn't going to call Clay out on it.
"Leave the kid alone. He's in a good mood, let him be." Jason said on Clay's behalf.
The last thing Jason wanted was for the guys to make any sort of deal out of this. They were not going to dissect Clay or his personal life. Instantly a huge smile broke out across Sonny's face and when he went to say something Jason shook his head no and gave him a look that told everyone, but Clay who didn't notice the exchange, to shut the hell up about it. Sonny's smile got even bigger at the realisation that Jason and Clay had sex. Jason looked around the room and the guys were all smiling and looking at him. He knew they had questions, but he was not going to allow them to ask them with Clay in the room. He didn't want Clay to feel awkward or uncomfortable around them. The first time you have sex you can feel a little weird about it all and you weren't at the talking about your sex life stage. He didn't want Clay to feel like he needed to avoid them at the risk of them asking him about it. Thankfully before anyone said anything the door opened and Full Metal ad Derek walked in.
"You are not going to believe this." Full Metal started.
"Are you eating ribs for breakfast?" Derek asked Clay as he took in the room.
"Why is everyone so interested in my eating habits?" Clay countered.
"Because it's just after nine in the morning and you are eating ribs." Derek stated.
"People eat steak and eggs for breakfast, why are ribs so different?" Clay said with a small shrug.
"What are we not going to believe?" Ray asked, looking to get the attention off of Clay. Yes, the odds of someone figuring out he was an Apex from his diet were slim to none, but the less attention on Clay the better.
"Just heard some guys on Charlie Team talking. There's whispers going around the whole base about a white wolf being spotted running through the woods." Full Metal answered.
Instantly everyone on Bravo snapped their attention to Full Metal and Derek. They all knew that Clay had been running through the woods in wolf form and it really was only a matter of time before someone else saw him. Clay wasn't worried though, because most people wouldn't believe it was a white wolf. There were more logical explanations than an extinct breed of wolf running around.
"It must be the same one Jase saw a month or so ago." Clay commented before the others could.
"Wait, you saw it?" Derek asked, amazed.
"I saw a white wolf, ya, but it ran away." Jason answered. He wasn't sure why Clay wasn't trying to play this off. The last thing they needed were whispers going around about a white wolf.
"Why didn't you say anything? This is huge." Derek said, not understanding how Jason could be so calm about it.
"They were supposed to be extinct. If there is a white wolf, there could be more of them." Full Metal said.
"It's not huge. It's a wild wolf." Clay said.
"Are you kidding me?" Derek said, completely shocked that Clay wasn't excited about this.
"Come on, what is more logical? That there is a wild wolf that either escaped from a zoo or it's an albino wild wolf. Or there is a white wolf shifter out there, that is not only a white wolf, but also an Apex white wolf? I'm curious though, in your world do unicorns and dragons exist because I've always wanted to see a dragon." Clay said with a smirk.
The guys couldn't believe how easy it was for Clay to handle this. He was completely calm and cool about it. The guys couldn't help but wonder if he had been through this before, and it was something they would be talking about once they were alone again.
"You really think it's that outrageous that there could be a white wolf left in the world?" Full Metal asked.
"I think it's outrageous for people to assume it's an Apex, when it is just a normal wild wolf. There's probably a zoo missing one right now. There's a few zoos within the world that will look for extinct or close to extinct species and capture them to try and repopulate the species. It's worked for a dozen or so species already." Clay reasoned.
"He's got a point. I mean, you can't seriously be thinking that there is an Apex white wolf running around Virginia Beach right?" Jason added.
"No, I guess not. You guys are no fun." Derek complained.
"Everyone is talking about it though. It wouldn't surprise me if people are going to start looking for it." Full Metal said.
"What are people saying?" Sonny asked.
"Most are speculating on if it's wild or an Apex. Get this though, Danny, a rookie on Romeo, he saw it a week ago, apparently it smelt like an Omega." Derek commented.
"Wild wolves all have their own smells and hierarchy." Trent said, but he was very worried about people figuring out that it was Clay that was the white wolf. If someone was able to get the scent of the white wolf, they would be able to smell it on Clay if he wasn't wearing his bracelets.
"I know that. I just think it's interesting that an Omega would be running around alone. It should be with its pack. It won't last long on its own." Derek said.
"Not all Omegas need to be cared for. There's plenty of them out in the wild that hunt and handle themselves. Plus, an Omega makes sense if it came from a zoo. I'm sure whoever is looking for it will find it and bring it back." Clay said.
"The gossip will quiet down. I'm sure we will be reading about it in the paper." Jason added.
"Ya, you're probably right. It would have been cool though. To have an Apex white wolf and an Omega one at that. We could have had the pack restored. Keep the wolf protected and in a secure place so no one could try and kill it. It would have been our last chance at restoring the pack." Derek said with a shrug.
"The Pup is right though, it must belong to a zoo. Still, it would have been nice. I wouldn't have minded being on the team that went out to track it down. I'm sure the military would have wanted to get their hands on it. They have been trying to get their hands on an Apex for over a century. To be able to see one in person, to be a part of that would have been awesome." Full Metal said with a smirk.
"You think it should be captured?" Brock asked.
"Never said that. I think an Apex should be free to make their own choices just like everyone else. I think Omegas should be as well. I'm just saying to be a part of something like protecting an Apex, protecting the last white wolf, that's a serious honor. Something as special as that, there's nothing more important." Full Metal said.
"And that's exactly it. I mean, an Apex is one thing, but the very last of a breed like the white wolf pack. That's more than a future, that's the future of the world. With them gone, the world has suffered greatly with the lack of world leaders, geniuses, the world needed white wolves and idiot hunters only saw dollars. To be able to protect someone so special, it would be more important than anything else. And I would be saying that even if it wasn't an Omega. Even if it was an Alpha, I would still want to protect it." Derek added.
"You are assuming this theoretical wolf would want to be protected. Not all wolves want to be protected, not all of them need it." Clay pointed out.
"No, but wolves are pack animals. We thrive by having a pack around us. The ones that have been unfortunate enough to grow up without one have no idea what they are missing. They are harder and tougher on the outside because they have to be. They don't know what it feels like to be able to rely on someone. To not always have to be the strong one. Whether it wanted it or not, there would be people there more than willing to die to protect it." Derek pointed out.
Clay looked around the room just slightly and he could see the others were in agreement. The problem was, Full Metal and Derek didn't know that he was the Apex white wolf. He didn't like the idea that the others felt they would die to protect him. He didn't need protection. He didn't want protection. He had survived all his life on his own, he was not about to start needing people now.
"It's not real anyways." Full Metal said with a shrug.
"Ya, the gossip will run wild for a few days and then it'll blow over." Ray said in agreement.
The truth was though, the guys were all worried about these whispers going around base. If people here thought they could get their eyes on a white wolf, they would be looking for it. It put Clay at risk of being caught by someone and if those whispers got louder it could reach the wolf hunters. This was serious and Clay needed to take this seriously. Once Full Metal and Derek headed out Clay knew what was going to be said. He got up and tossed out his to-go container as he spoke.
"I don't want to hear it."
"You have to be more careful with where you are running. You need to cool it for a few weeks Clay." Jason ordered.
"People will never believe that it's an Apex white wolf. They will always go with what is logical and that is that it's a wild white wolf. And even if they do believe it's an Apex, they will never think it's me."
"Only because of your bracelets. If you lose them, if someone smells your true scent then they will be able to know it's you in wolf form." Sonny pointed out.
"Don't suppose there is a collar or something that you could use that works like your bracelets?" Ray asked.
"You want me to wear a collar, like a dog?" Clay said with an edge to his voice.
"Not like a dog, no." Ray quickly said. "I was just thinking that if you were in wolf form and running around then people would only smell an Alpha and it might keep them away from you. It was just a suggestion."
"It's not a bad suggestion, but it's one we can table for now." Jason said, as he could tell that Clay was not going to tolerate the suggestion right now. "I do think though Clay you need to cool it on running in wolf form right now."
"Fine, I'll cool it. Can we move on now?" Clay asked, clearly not impressed.
"Ya. We are going to run some training today. Everyone grab your gear and we can head out." Jason said, as he could tell that Clay needed to get away from this topic.
Clay gave a nod and headed out. The guys waited until he was gone before Sonny spoke with a huge smile.
"Ok out with it, how was it?"
"It's none of your business." Jason said with an edge. He was not going to be doing this to Clay.
"All that matters is that he did have sex. I'm assuming his heat was bad this time." Trent said.
"He was in a lot of pain. He was dying from it. His heartbeat was erratic and weak. The pain was radiating off of him. I wasn't going to stand around and do nothing to help him when I could have stopped it. I would have done the same for any of you." Jason said.
"I'm glad you did have sex with him. He wouldn't have survived another heat from the sounds of it. All that matters is that he had sex." Trent said.
"Was it hard to get him to agree to it?" Ray asked.
"Ya, it wasn't easy. He was terrified of having sex. He didn't say much, and I haven't asked more about it. But he did say that in the orphanage the Alphas used to take the Omegas within the orphanage and when they went into heat they would rape them and force a mate onto them. Only to then pass them around the others whenever they felt like it. He had seen it and has been terrified of sex ever since. He's been terrified that someone would force a mate onto him." Jason explained.
"Well, that explains his phobia of sex. At least now that he's had it, he knows that he doesn't have to fear having a mate forced onto him." Ray said.
"But seriously, how was it?" Sonny asked again with a smirk.
"I'm not talking about it. And neither are you. He's just had sex for the first time, the last thing he needs is someone making him feel awkward or uncomfortable about it. We all remember what it felt like that first time we had sex and we are not going to bring it up. Act normal around him." Jason said.
"You're not fun, but fine. I won't ask the pup any questions." Sonny relented.
"Quick question though, in what situation would we be in where one of us is dying and the only way to save our life is by having sex with us?" Ray asked with a teasing smile.
"Ya Boss, what type of poison do you think we're coming across?" Trent asked with his own teasing smirk.
"I don't know. I was just saying, I would do it for any of you." Jason said with a smile and a shake of his head.
They all gave a laugh as they grabbed their gear and headed out. They had to run some training and hopefully the talk about a white wolf would die down soon enough. The last thing any of them wanted was for Clay to be discovered.
XXX
Ash had been pacing around his living room for hours now. He was furious still by what Clay had said to him. He was not about to let his worthless Omega son dishonor him. He was not going to let some Omega whore blacken his name. He had sent Clay off to Africa when he was a child because they were supposed to kill him. They were supposed to give him what he deserved. A life of being on his knees being passed around like the whore he was. Ash was still furious that Clay's piece of shit mother gave him not only a son, but an Omega one. He never wanted children, but he was willing to entertain having an Alpha heir to mold and take over his empire one day. He was never going to tolerate having some worthless Omega attached to his name. When his cell phone finally rang Ash was instantly picking it up. He had been waiting for this call for weeks now. The wolf hunters were not easy to track down and they mostly kept to themselves at the risk of being caught. Hunting wolf shifters was illegal and as a result they had to operate underground.
Wolf shifter hunters were humans that were all former black operators from various militaries around the world. Their purpose now was to eliminate wolf shifters and make humans the main race once again. It was an endless war, but for the most part both races lived in harmony with each other. There were roughly three dozen hunters that operated within a pack taking out as many as they could. The trick was most were always around people so they had to focus on one wolf shifter at a time. They also took money for specific targets. The last thing Ash wanted was to have to put any of his hard earned money towards his worthless son, but he would if he was able to protect his empire and his good name.
"Speak." The man on the other end said.
Normally Ash would be putting him in his palace; however, he needed to play nice so they would target and kill Clay.
"I have a target. Photo will be sent to the corresponding email of your choice."
"Half a million dollars, payment before delivery."
"This time is different. I'll pay a hundred thousand, this is one you are going to want to take on. I have proof that there is an Apex white Omega wolf in Virginia Beach. Photo of proof will be sent to you. This is the last white wolf in existence and I want him dead."
Ash knew they were going to take it. To be able to kill the last white wolf, especially when everyone believed they were already extinct. Clay's Apex head would be worth millions on the Black Market. Clay had no idea that Ash knew he was an Apex, he didn't have the memories of when he was an infant, but Ash did. He remembered how Clay shifted into wolf form when he was an infant and a toddler. His mother tried to keep him hidden away. Ash had been pissed at first, because he had no idea that Nicole was even an Apex, much less an white wolf. She always swore she was a grey wolf. But he knew the truth when Clay was born. Only an Apex can give birth to an Apex, which meant she had lied about everything she had told him. When he discovered how much money he could make by killing her, he had someone else do it and they split the small fortune. A fortune that he used to start his own security empire. Now it was time to cash in on his worthless son.
"A text with the email address will be sent to this number. Send proof, once it has been verified as real, payment information will be sent to you." The man said, before the call ended.
Ash smirked. This was all too easy and soon enough his son would be dead and he would get to lay fame to being the poor mourning father of the last white wolf. He would go down in history as the man that gave the world an Apex white whore of a son was going to make him even richer and he would finally be free from him.
