Brick sat upon the bed they were going to share, the sunshine from the window glimmering down upon him as if he were an angel. He wanted to muster up a thought- something that could get back at Buttercup for the prank she had pulled on him.
He lied there, waiting for that stupid brain of his to get an idea. He wouldn't mind a whimper, even something half baked coming to his head. Yet as it remained: nothing. Not even a petty or cruel prank, which he was the absolute best at. Self-proclaimed, of course.
He sighed, knowing the Buttercup is already thinking about how to get back at him! Buzz! A notification on his phone buzzed and buzzed. He would normally not even bother, but he was intrigued. His hands brushed over his phone in his pocket.
He took it out, the newest model. A slick and shiny new phone with a sleek deep red case wrapping around the outside. He opened it up to the lockscreen, seeing a picture of him and his boys and a message from the group chat.
'ive got a gf suckerz' with an image attached from Butch, of all people. He was surprised, he honestly expected Butch to be the last to get a hot babe in his grasps. He wondered what she would be like. He tapped on the text message only to realize that he needed to put in his password for the phone.
His fingers touched on the many keys he put into place so nobody but he could get in. 7-7-7-7-7-7-2-2. And opened the phone to the group chat. He expanded onto the picture, in which Boomer was already typing a reply.
His eyes looked over towards his brother giving a nice smile. He seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself- then his eyes hovered over to the other part of the image he was both dreading and waiting for. And once he saw just who that girlfriend was, he just almost broke his phone in his fist.
His eyes widened as he exclaimed a single name he never expected to exclaim. "Bubbles?" he immediately started typing, what was Butch thinking. He started his message grammatically correct. (Not like he's a grammar nerd like Blossom.)
'What were you thinking going out with sunshine funshine over there? Ain't she gonna rub off on you, dumbass?' He typed out with minor bitterness and fury in his words.
He then realized one other part of the equation at play, his roommate. 'She's her sister for the love of god. Do I gotta check on HER just because of that dumbass deciding to date one of our worst enemies?' He paused for a moment- did they have a group chat too? They probably did, although he hasn't exactly heard her be–
"BUTCH?!" He heard her raspy voice from a mile away. He flew over to have a laugh at Buttercup and her antics and saw her unbridled anger on full display. "Where is that jerk? I better pound him to a pulp for taking Bubbles!" Buttercup started flying out the door before Brick stopped her.
"Ah ah ah, little girl. You forgot our agreement?" Holding Buttercup by her leg, she looked over toward the red-head– giving him a pleading expression. "Yeah but can't I beat him up just once? C'mon! Let me at 'em!" Brick sighed.
"Tsk tsk tsk, if you don't keep our promise. Neither will I. Now do you want to see your sissy sisters take a beating like no other, or do you want to keep our agreement?" Buttercup rolled her eyes and mumbled 'fine.' Brick grinned, "What was that? I can't hear you."
'Fine.' Brick grinned wider. "Say it one more time for me?" Buttercup's anger got the best of her. "FINE! ALRIGHT, I'LL KEEP YOUR STINKIN PROMISE." Buttercup crossed her arms with a sour look pointed toward him as a protest against the boy.
"You know what. Let's have a nice day out, right? I mean the sun is still shining and the birds are chirping. It would be just lovely." Brick said through gritted teeth and looked toward Buttercup with a fake grin that even the stupidest of townsfolk could recognize as fake.
"Yes. We should. I should also invite the girls for this lovely day, how about a picnic." She said robotically. Brick responded in a similar vein. "Yes. I will get my boys to come too, of course."
They both had clear intentions, whether or not it was shown on their face. For one thing, they wanted to get more information out of Butch & Bubbles and their relationship, on the other hand- they wanted to get back at each other for earlier today.
They were not sure of how, but they both took to their phones to start writing. Buttercup typed to her sisters when and where to go and hang out, telling them they would have a special guest. So did Brick.
They both lingered on whether it was a bad idea or not. Despite everything telling them no, the fact that they're sworn enemies since childhood, and the fact that only Butch and Bubbles have a positive relationship (denying the fact that they could ever be friends.) Would it be a disaster? Likely so, still they weren't denying the fact it would be especially fun.
They took a deep breath and both flew out of their rooms right to the park straight away. Separated from each other, they waited for the own groups to come. Buttercup waited with little patience knowing her short patience is something she really needs to get better at improving, somehow.
Brick waited with patience through his bones, while an unexpected thing for him. He was known to be quite crude and aggressive as well as quick, his patience for things was surprising. He sat near a tree, a special tree, its pink leaves accompanied by its dark rich purple trunk with sturdy wood.
After an agonizing... 5 minutes, Buttercup finally saw the girls in the distance. 'Finally, they read my text.' her thoughts stated. She give a warm welcoming expression. Bubbles came in for the hug which was more like a choke-hold.
Blossom crossed her arms but gave into the hug. "I'm still not forgiving you for the fiasco... but fine." Her arms opened wide and tackled onto the hug pile between her, Bubbles, and Buttercup.
Buttercup's voice could be hardly heard, simply saying through wheezes and gasps of air "let.. go!" Another cough pushed its way through her system and Bubbles realized her hug might've been too intense for Buttercup.
Their meeting was in complete contrast to the RowdyRuff Boys meeting. Like, way different.
Brick's patience finally got rewarded as his boys, crew, and whatever else he could call them came floating down towards him. They exchanged glances of knowing and assurement and went in for.. for.. a triple high five!
"HIGH FIVE! Can we even call that a high five?" Boomer questioned, which got Brick to reply with a shrug and a "Don't question it." Boomer took that quote to heart, maybe he shouldn't have necessarily taken it to heart per se, but he did it anyway.
Brick noticed one thing off, Butch was unusually quite. Usually he would go along with whatever words he had said being his yes-man, yet nothing came out of that mouth of his.
'This has got to have something to do with that no-good BITCH!' Brick angrily thought.
Through his misogynistic insults he knew that that Bubbly ditzy blonde was no-good and was making his boys soft. Not on his watch that would happen.
"So, er, what are we doing here anyways?" Brick snapped out of hatred filled daze and looked towards his brother. "We're having a picnic."
"That's great and all... but aren't picnics supposed to have food?" Butch chimed in, giving his brother indication that he was still Butch. "Well, it's an.. expression! Yeah. Expression, I just realized we have guests." Looking around as he saw Buttercup walking with the girls towards where he and the boys were talking.
"I need to use the uh, bathroom! Gotta to go!" as he ran and grabbed buttercup by her hair causing the girls to immediately go after them.
"What were you thinking?" Buttercup silently whispered bitterly as they hid inside a bush. "Well, er, I, I needed an excuse. We've gotta meet up somehow. Let's just meet together oka-"
He was interrupted by the bush shaking above them. It was pulled off of the ground showing Buttercup and Brick sitting criss-crossed inside of it. Blossom and Bubbles immediately recognized just who was under there.
"The RowdyRuff Boys!" Their expressions showed anger and annoyance at the appearance of the boy. "I thought we got rid of you? And where's the rest of them? And what are you doing with Buttercup?!" Blossom queried.
"He's with me." Buttercup stood up for Brick undeservedly. They still resented each other, but they had to get an agreement somehow. "Don't beat the daylights out of him" Bubbles looked disappointedly.
"Really? I didn't expect you to say that." Buttercup raised an eyebrow. "Mrs. Smartypants and yet she can't even recognize that I'm not knocking his teeth out."
"I'm right here y'know?" Brick said. They all decided to ignore that annoying and grating voice of his. "I am not just a smartypants!" Blossom yelled at Buttercup.
"What's 4 + 4?" Blossom rolled her eyes. "8." Brick responded with his answer. "Darn. I got 12." Blossom face palmed. "Since one of you is here, the other jerks are probably here too, am I right about that?"
Brick grinned looking back at the park behind him. "Yeah, they're right there."
Coming up right towards them were the two other missing RowdyRuffs. Butch and Boomer. Bubbles immediately jumped up and rushed towards Butch bridal style. "Butch!" She yelled excitedly with a slight squeak in her voice.
"Bubbles!" Butch replied, catching her straight in his arms. Both the Ruffs and Puffs felt nauseating at how sugary-sweet that was.
"Wait... Bubbles and Butch are dating, and you and Brick are totally friends. Is everyone allied with the ruffs EXCEPT ME?" Blossom's eye twitched. "I still don't have a buddy." Boomer told Blossom with a redness appearing on his cheeks but was cut off in favor of Brick talking.
"Hey! We're not buddies, we're just roommates. We have to ally otherwise the place would be destroyed in 10 seconds flat." Blossom looked at him. "Uh huh, and if you were to choose one of us to live your life with forever, which would it be?"
"You, you ball of fire." Blossom groaned at his attempted (and failing) flirting. "Don't get your hopes up, Romeo."
"You don't want to be my Juliet?" Brick pouted towards her. "If that means I can die at the end, then sure." Brick couldn't respond to that, nothing would top that in his eyes.
"I could be romeo!" Boomer added in. "Fat chance, you're less of a beautiful love interest and more of a gross teenage boy." Buttercup responded to him.
"Hey! I'm turning 18 in a month!" Boomer crossed his arms and pouted genuinely (unlike Brick.)
"Hey, what are Bubbles and Butch doing?" Blossom, Buttercup, and Brick looked around and they were nowhere to be found. "Did they really leave us to go and use those teenage hormones? Blech." Buttercup quipped.
Blossom, intrigued, tried to look into it further. "They went that way! I think?" Blossom pointed at the direction past the park and into the public pool. "Townsville public pool? I get nightmares about that." Buttercup shudders, thinking of all the gross old ladies and gross old guys that are there.
Brick poked at Boomer, yet his state was too pathetic to even be reached by his brother. "Guess we'll have to leave this guy over here to go on an 'awesome mystery adventure' which the answer'll just be that they were swapping spit in the bathroom." Brick mocked.
Blossom felt him getting on her last nerve, 100%. She could not stand having this guy around any longer. "Can we PLEASE leave him here." Buttercup smirked. "No way jose, Butch is his brother too."
"I didn't want to go." Brick irritatedly twitched his eye. "Nope. You're coming with and there's nothing you can do about it." Buttercup grinned evilly.
"This is torture! Can't I do something fun like... practice my guitar playing skills?" Brick groaned. "Nope. I'm forcing you along whether you like it or NOT. And if there's a monster or villain that has your brother, you better help."
"Fine. Fuck you." Brick told Buttercup. Buttercup grinned, Blossom sighed at the stupidity, and Brick just wants to leave.
