"Thank you for letting me go show Bennett my lightsaber," Reina said the next day as she and her mother walked to his house. "You're very welcome. It will be good to see him again." "Does Bennett have a lightsaber now?" "I don't know. I haven't kept up on his progress. His mother hasn't visited in a while."
No, we haven't visited Reina thought. They had almost reached Bennett's house when Reina dead stopped. It took her mother a minute to realize she wasn't there. "What's wrong?" She asked, turning around. She froze when she noticed her daughter's trance-like expression. "What's wrong!?" "Something bad has happened," Reina replied robotically.
Before her mother could ask more, a strange man ran up to them. "Please, your Majesty" he begged. "Don't go that way." "What's wrong?" Queen Adorna asked. "Something terrible happened at that house," the man said, pointing to Bennett's place. Adorna gasped while the man leaned down to grab Reina's shoulders. "You're our last hope" he said…
Reina felt numb as she stood outside the house of her friend. She heard that Bennett was missing and inside were the bodies of his dead parents. No one knew exactly what had happened, but there were whispers that Bennett's father owed some dangerous men money and when he hadn't delivered, they killed him and his family. Well, part of his family as Bennett was yet to be found.
There was also something else that was odd. The windows had been completely destroyed but no one knew how or why, other than maybe the intruders had gone in that way. Queen Adorna grieved right alongside the other people who had known Bennett and his parents, but Reina found she couldn't cry. No matter how much she wanted to...
Bennett's parents were laid to rest and after weeks of searching for Bennett, an empty grave was made for him as he had probably also been killed. Reina visited his grave every day and left white lilies to mark her sorrow and the tears she could not shed.
