It was exactly 1 month before the wedding, everything was pretty much planned and done. Taylor got her dress alterations this past weekend with all the girls. All the wedding parties attire was good to go. Today they took the day together to go finalize the food.
"I'm excited to eat everything." Joe said on the way to the caterer.
"Yeah."
"Aren't you?" He asked curious.
"I just don't feel good, I feel bloated, and my appetite just isn't right like it normally is." Joes glanced at her with a face of wonder.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She questioned.
"Maybe you're pregnant." He asked.
"Yeah right." She says.
"No seriously."
"I'm sure it's just my period, sometimes I get like this."
"But not always?"
"No…"
"Well look at your app or whatever, is it time to test?" He asks and she pulls her phone out.
"Your getting my hopes up and I can't be hopeful."
"Sure you can, maybe that's the key."
"Stop. I know my body, I know this is nothing, and plus I'm anxious for the wedding it's just a lot for my body."
"Whatever you say." Joe dropped it and continued to drive.
-
The taste testing went good, they nailed down their menu and then headed to the jewelry store, because their wedding bands were in.
"Wanna head over to Dips for lunch?" Joe asked on the way back to the car.
"I'm full! Besides I wanna go home, I need to take a nap or something."
"You that tired?" He asked.
"I only slept for like 5 hours, yes."
"Alright, well maybe I'll take you home and I'll go workout or something so you can sleep." He said being thoughtful.
"Whatever you wanna do." They got in the car and headed home.
—
"Alright I'm heading to the gym, call me if you need anything okay?" Joe told her before heading out.
"Wait. Maybe I will take a test." She stopped him.
"What made you change your mind?"
"You."
"Yeah. Well there's no harm." He shrugged.
"I'll be back." She went to the bathroom and shut the door behind her. Joe didn't know how to gauge her, she had a front up about it now. She's been wanting this for how long but now she seems uninterested. Maybe with the wedding in a month and all it was just a lot like she said earlier.
"Did you take it?" He asked through the bathroom door. Taylor didn't answer right away, but he heard the toilet flush and the sink run. She opened the door and he tried to read her face.
"3 minutes." She told him, Joe looked at the time and they waited.
"Now remember don't get your hopes up, it's only the second month."
"Shh. Just be quiet." She shuts him up.
"Just preparing you." He says with a hand to her back. They waited and waited until the 3 minutes were up.
"You look." He told her, she hesitantly took a look.
"Damn." She said when she saw the negative.
"Sorry." Joe said opening his arms for a hug.
"Huh." She sighed in his embrace.
"We'll get it." He assured and she threw the test away before heading out to lay down on the couch and rest.
"You good if I go?" He wanted to make sure she didn't want him to lay with her or something instead.
"Mhm." She said staring at the tv that wasn't on.
"Okay…I love you." He reminded her and left.
—
When Joe got back home he was surprised to see Taylor making dinner, she seemed pretty down before he left.
"Smells like Tacos?" He guessed.
"Quesadillas yeah." She kissed him quick and he watched her a second.
"I'll shower or eat first?"
"Shower, I still got a couple minutes before it's ready." She said as she chopped up tomato's.
They sat down together to eat then, and Joe shared a funny story that happened at the gym. She laughed like normal and he asked how the rest of her day was. He was wondering why she was a different person all of a sudden.
"Well, I ended up calling my doctor today and she said she could get me on a fertility medication called Clomid, usually they like people to wait a year but given my history and having pcos it's different." Taylor said happily.
"Right and what does it do?" He says taking the first bite of the chicken quesadilla.
"Something about increasing my hormones to help me ovulate or something. I made it for the week after our wedding, after our honeymoon of course."
"Oh. Um is this something I come to? Cause I gotta let work know if so." He asked.
"You don't have to. It's nothing crazy."
"Cool. Well I guess that's exciting then. Are you excited now?" He asked smiling.
"What do you mean now?"
"Well I could tell you weren't very excited earlier, about taking a test."
"Because I knew it was going to be negative. If I'm on a medication that's going to help my body actually work, I'll be way more excited knowing it could be positive."
"I get that I guess." He shrugged.
"Are you okay with all this?" She wondered.
"Of course. If you're happy, I'm happy babe."
"I just didn't know if it was offending your man card." She said and Joe looked confused.
"What? Why? Cause I can't get you pregnant?" He guessed.
"Well yeah."
"But it's not my problem." He reminded.
"Well obviously, still doesn't mean you can't feel a certain way."
"Well I don't." He assured.
"Good. You're still the best I've ever had." She flirted and drank her wine, Joe smirked.
"Yeah well you keep drinking." He said and they both laughed.

Looks like starting a family could be closer then they thought! How fun, after the wedding chapter I plan on ending this book because of the title and maybe do a sequel? The longer it gets the harder it is to keep track of so it's better for me if I can split it up! Thanks for reading and leave your thoughts!
