Chapter 20- Anxiety Attack
In the Gilmore-Huntzburger Manor Friday morning was chaos. There is no other way to describe it. Rory and Logan were trying to get everything done so they could leave for New York. Rory was tired. Despite the fact that she was leaving with Logan today to spend a week in New York, Rory was irritated. She couldn't tell if it was because she was leaving the boys for a week, or the fact that she was leaving them with Billy and Melissa.
The arrangement she has with Billy is that while she is gone, he can stay in her house and take care of the twins. It should make her feel better knowing that Karson will be here. She just couldn't put her finger on it. Why was she irritated?
It started off this morning with Logan's phone ringing at 5:30. She had planned on sleeping until at least 8. She got up while he was on the phone to make a cup of coffee and Billy was in the kitchen also on the phone. She made her coffee and Billy moved to the patio. She thought she would be nice and take Billy a cup of coffee, but when she opened the door to the patio Billy was telling someone on the phone that he was at Rory's house and it would be okay for them to stop by, Rory would be out of town. She just closed the door back and took her cup of coffee with her upstairs. Logan was just getting off the phone when she lay back down on the bed. He started kissing her shoulder. She thought this is a good way to get the trip started.
After Logan got through 'apologizing' for waking her up. She felt better. She was cuddled up to him with the sheet barely covering either one. Rory tells Logan "We need to get dressed, the boys could come looking for us at any moment.
Logan laughed, "Yes, but after today, we have a week of no little cold feet crawling up in the bed waking us up." Logan did not mean that he didn't love having the boys come to sleep in their bed. He was getting used to it. He loved to watch them snuggle up to Rory. He has even woken at times to find one or both of them snuggled up to him. He was just looking forward to some uninterrupted time with his Ace. Maybe he will propose sometime this week. This is what Logan was thinking.
Rory on the other had thought Logan didn't want the boys around. She was thinking the boys and her are a package deal and Logan better get used to it. She is irritated again. What is going on with her? About the time she started to get up, there was a knock on the door, then it opened. It was Billy. Rory froze midway over Logan getting out of bed. Billy froze when he saw Rory stradling Logan, and Logan was just trying to get Rory not to leave the bed just yet. It felt like time was standing still. When Rory regained her reasoning, she yelled at Billy to get out. Billy mumbled an apology, leaving slamming the bedroom door. Logan tried to get up and dumped Rory on the floor. So, to say that this morning started with chaos, you would be right.
So now Logan was trying to get Rory to hurry up so they could leave. Billy was in the pool house. He had been in there since walking in on Rory and Logan post coital cuddling. Rory needed to talk to him and go over the last-minute details for the boys this week.
Melissa knew something happened, but Billy would not tell her. Now to top it off, Karson wasn't feeling well. Rory keeps checking on her. She was having bad cramps. Rory was bringing her the heating pad and some tampons. Rory had an unopened box that she left in Karson's bathroom. Rory still needed to talk with Melissa about Karson. Now she could tell that Logan was irritated. This is not a good start for the weekend.
Rory was now sitting on the bed in her bedroom crying. Logan walks in yelling for Rory to hurry up, when he sees her crying. "Ace, baby what is wrong?" Logan asked as he was kneeling in front of her trying to get her to look at him.
"I…I" Rory sniffles, trying to get her crying under control.…"I don't know, I just don't know. I need to regroup. I need a few minutes without anyone rushing or asking me question"
Logan nodded his head. "You lay down right here. I will be right back with a cup of coffee. Just relax, I will make sure you are not bothered. Do you want me to come lay down with you?" Rory laid down and Logan covered her with the afghan at the foot off the bed. Kissed her on the lips and left the room.
When Logan returned, Rory was sound asleep. He lay down with her and she snuggled into him. While he was downstairs, he talked with Billy, Melissa and Karson.
After about 20 minutes of napping, Rory bolted up and ran to the bathroom. She threw up her breakfast. Logan went to the door to help and she told him she was fine. She brushed her teeth and used mouth wash. She walked to the door, kissed him on the cheek and told him that she feels better.
He followed her to the closet. She told him "It's just nerves. I don't like to leave the boys. With Karson not feeling good, I guess I just let my nerves take over. I'm alright. Stop worrying. I will be ready to leave in 30 minutes." Rory said, smiling at Logan as she left the bedroom with the last of the toiletries for their trip.
True to her word, Rory and Logan were on the way to New York. They were in Logan's car. They left Rory's Land Rover for Billy so he could take the boys to a festival in Stars Hollow today.
As soon as they hit the interstate, Logan looked over at Rory. "Do you think you can tell me what happened this morning?" Logan asked.
Rory nodded. "After I turned down your proposal, I started having anxiety attacks." She sighed. She didn't want him to blame himself. "While on the campaign trail I went for a Doctor's visit because they got so bad I could not breath. I used to have them when I was younger. The doctor told me that it is not a diagnosable condition but she told me the signs to look for so I will know it is coming." She could see the worry in his eyes.
"After I met Billy the attacks were very few. I've had maybe two while married. When we separated the attacks came back but it has been over a year since my last one. I didn't see it coming." She looked at Logan as he held her hand and kissed it. "Do you still love me?"
Logan smiled, "Yes nothing will ever change that. I have loved you for over 12 years, most of my adult life. I want to spend the rest of my life making you and your boys happy."
Logan squeezed her hand and smiled at her. "Now, do your deep breathing exercises. I am fixing to ask you something and I don't want an anxiety attack. I want you to think about what I am asking. You do not have to answer me now. Just answer when you are ready" Logan told her. Rory looked at Logan as they drove down the interstate and nodded her head.
"Rory, my Ace, will you marry me?"
