Chapter 33 Christmas with Mitchum

Rory was up again Wednesday morning earlier than Logan. She got dressed and went downstairs to see if Sookie had any coffee made. She stepped through the kitchen door to see the twin munching down on muffins and pop tarts. She smiled. Shaking her head. "Good morning boys" she said as she kissed each one on the forehead. "And good morning to you Sookie. I hope they haven't been any trouble."

"Not these sweet boys, never," Sookie said with a wink.

Rory poured herself a cup of coffee and sat next to Will at the table in the kitchen. She chatted with Sookie and the boys. It wasn't long before Karson entered the kitchen. She grabbed a coffee mug and headed to the coffee pot. "What are the plans for today?"Karson asked as she waited for the coffee to brew.

"We are expected at Mitchum's apartment at noon and the Huntzburger Manor at 6:00." Rory told her. Karson just nodded. Rory looked at her real good. "We are expected at the Huntzburger Manor at 6:00. If you would like to take the morning off, I don't have a problem with that." Rory told her. Sometimes Rory forgets she is the nanny and not her daughter.

Karson smiled. "Thanks, I will be home in time to help get the boys ready. What is the dress code for tonight?" She asked.

"Just wear something Christmassy." Rory told her.

Karson told the boys bye and went upstairs to get packed. She was on her phone before she even got to the bottom of the stairs.

Logan met Karson as he was leaving the suite. "Good morning Karson," Logan said. She did respond. Logan smiled, she was on the phone.. ….'Goodbye Karson." Logan said, talking to himself. "something about this town. There I go again" he said as he walked into the dining room.

Rory was just leaving the kitchen with the boys not too far behind her. "Good Morning Logan '' Rory said as she gave him a kiss. "Morning Logan." Both boys said as they headed to the playroom.

"You can see me?" Logan said as he kissed Rory back. Rory looked at him like he had lost his mind.

"Yes, I can see you." she told him

"Good, I thought I might be invisible. I know I was talking to myself on the way down." He kissed her on the nose.

"Glad you are not invisible" Rory said. As he went to get a cup of coffee.

"I told Karson that she didn't have to come with us to your Dad's" Rory told Logan as he sat down at the table. Logan raised an eyebrow. "She will be at your moms. She said she will be back in time to help me dress the boys."

"She got a date? I know she is not studying. She is on holiday from college." Logan said. He had a smirk on his face.

"She didn't say if she had a date, but she smiled like she might." Rory told him.

"Guess that is why she almost ran me over when I was coming out of the suite."Logan told her as he took a sip of his hot coffee.

Rory, Logan and the twins packed up and left the Dragonfly before noon. They were going to unpack the car and pick up the presents before going to Mitchum's apartment.

When they arrived at Mitchum's apartment, Honor met them at the door. "You're late little brother,"

Logan looked at his watch. "Just 5 minutes. Surely you can handle this without me for 5 minutes"

"Hello Rory, it is good to see you. Will, Chris", She hugged them then kissed them on the forehead. "Joshua and Samuel are in the sitting room with Pop." The boys headed that way.

Logan, Rory and Honor stood in the foyer talking. It wasn't long before Mitchum appeared. "Come on in and join the party." Mitchum told them. They turned to go into the den. Mitchum followed them. He heard a little of what they were talking about. He wondered if he would ever be able to make up for the time he lost with Logan.

Samuel and the twins were nowhere to be found. Joshua was playing a game with his hand held game. "Mitchum, where did the twins go?" Rory asked as she took a seat on the large sectional leather sofa.

"In the game room. I put the trains out." Mitchum said. Rory looked at Logan. She was worried that the boys were too little to play with the trains by themselves. She didn't want them to mess the trains up and someone be mad at them.

Mitchum saw the look on Rory's face. "It's fine. Let them play. Lunch will be here shortly." Mitchum told her.

"Where are Cynthia and Jessi?" Logan asked as he sat next to Rory on the sofa.

"They will be here shortly. They didn't want to be here when everyone else arrived." Mitchum said. "Rory, you and Honor should go look at the room I have set up for Jessi. It is the third door on the left, pass the study." Rory and Honor got up to go look.

"Have you talked with Cynthia? Is she willing to move?" Logan asked.

"We talked some. She is aware that this is what I want. She said she has some loose ends to tie up in London." Mitchum said.

"So, she has not agreed yet?" Logan asked.

"No," Mitchum said. He was getting annoyed at Logan's questions.

"Dad, I'm going to ask you a question that is going to piss you off." Logan sighed. "It would me. But if the roles were reversed you would ask me." Logan said. He was having a hard time looking Mitchum in the eye. He glanced toward Joshua, Josh had his attention. They were talking. Josh knew what was coming.

"Go ahead, I know what you are going to ask. I have an answer for you." Mitchum said. Shaking his head.

"Are you positive that she is yours?" Logan asked. He said low, just above a whisper. If Mitchum hadn't known what Logan was going to ask, he would not have been able to hear him.

Mitchum smiled as the doorbell rang. "Logan, when you see her, that question will be answered" Mitchum said as he got up to answer the door.

Mitchum returned to the sitting room with Cynthia and Jessi. "Cynthia, Jessi, this is my son Logan. Over on the other couch is my son in law Josh and his son Joshua." Before he could finish Honor and Rory entered the room. "This is my daughter Honor and Logan's fiancé Rory." Everyone nodded or said they were nice to meet them. "My other three grandsons are in the playroom playing with the trains. I'm sure they will be out when lunch is ready." Everyone took a seat. Mitchum offered them a drink. Water and sodas all around.

They all sat there, not sure what to say. Logan did not have to question paternity. Jessi was a good mixture of Cynthia and Honor. There was no mistake. She belonged to Mitchum. Finally, Rory still has some of that report in her. "Jessi, how old are you? Can you tell us about yourself? Do you like school? How do you like the United States?"

Honor chimed in "Is this the first time you have been to the states? Oh, have you seen your room? It is beautiful. I hope you like the color purple. It seems dad's decorators did a wonderful job."

Jessi smiled. She was a little shy to be in the room with all these strangers, but she likes the energy Honor has when she enters a room. "I picked out most of it."

About that time Will came running in the room "Will slow down, do not run in the house" Rory scolded.

"Mama, Chris and Samuel won't let me play. I put a tree next to the house and they made the train run into it." Will was whining, something Rory disliked.

Rory picked him up and put him in her lap. "Will, you and Chris play together all the time. There is no reason that you and your brother can't get along together with Samuel."

"Will," Joshua said. "Let's go back in there and we can all play together nicely." Will took his hand and went back to the playroom.

"He has always been so mature for his age." Honor said.

After a while the doorbell rang. Mitchum got up to get it. It was the caterers. Lunch was served. They ate and talked. The kids watched a Christmas movie while the adults drank coffee. Mitchum let everyone open their presents. He opened the ones from them. It was getting close to the time for everyone to go to the Huntzburger Manor.

As Honor and Rory were gathering everything together, Mitchum pulled Logan aside. "I'm not going tonight. I know your mother wanted it to be a family Christmas. I have spent time with the children and you and Honor. I will be at your house for the Hartford Office party and will come by Christmas day." Mitchum told Logan. "I think I may take Cynthia and Jessi out. I saw an advertisement for ice skating outside."

"No problem dad. Spend time with Jessi. Mom will be okay." Logan said. He knew his mother was going to have a fit especially if she knew why he was not there.
