Chapter 17: Victory

After Shi was turned into a wooden statue, the members of Team Phantom were relieved that he was no longer a threat.

"Man, that was a relief..."Tucker commented, glad that it's finally over.

"Yeah. I much prefer seeing jiangshi's on the movie screen than in real life..."Sam said, relieved that they are all still alive.

"You and me, both..."Jazz said, glad that they wouldn't become any monster's dinner any time soon.

"Man, that was stressful. I just hope I don't have to deal with an alien invasion or something not ghost related anymore..."Danny said, since it took way more than trapping the villain into the thermos to stop this nightmare.

"I'm just glad that he didn't turn me into a monster like him, or his queen..." Star said, shuddering at the mere thought of that.

Her boyfriend heard this and decided to lighten the mood by being his usual quippy self.

"I don't know...I mean, I'm glad that you didn't wind up walking down the aisle with that creep but other than that, if you had your skin turned blue,, we'd just have find you a pink Chinese robe with comically long blue sleeves and I'd still call you the most beautiful thing in the world..." Danny joked.

Star knew what he was doing and sent him a slightly annoyed yet amused expression, knowing that he is just kidding around.

"You'd feel that way, even if I dyed my hair dark red and wore a black top with my midriff exposed and cargo pants, or wore a short orange skirt with a red bow in my hair, wouldn't you?..." Star pointed out and her boyfriend shrugged.

"True, I wouldn't be able to resist you, no matter how you dress up..." Danny admitted before laughing.

Star giggled too, feeling the tension of the day was finally gone. Before they could go from playful banter to kissing, something caught their attention.

"Mrr..."Was heard.

They all turned around and saw Misty was on the ground, stirring a bit. They recalled that she had gotten hit by Shi's blast and they rushed towards her.

"Misty..."Danny said as the others went to check up on her.

He approached her and shook her by the shoulder to stir her awake. Misty opened her eyes and saw Danny, she smiled when she saw him, as her face turned red as she ended up looking into his eyes.

"Danny..."She said, still clearly into him.

"Yeah..." He said, glad that she was still alive.

Misty was about to get up, but flinched.

"Oww!..."She yelped, grabbing her head as if she was in great pain.

"Are you okay, Misty?..." Danny asked, as the girl kept gripping her head.

"Y-Yeah... uh...what am I doing here?..." She asked, looking confused as she looked around.

Danny and the others stared at each other a moment.

"You... you were knocked out by Shi..."Star said, as if it was obvious.

The dark haired girl looked confused, as if she never heard that name before.

"Who?..." Misty asked, blinking a bit and looking totally lost.

The members of Team Phantom were surprised to here this. However, seeing her gripping her head, one came to a conclusion.

"Uh oh... she got hit in the head. She must've lost her memory..." Jazz theorized.

"Memory loss?..."Star asked, as the dark haired girl blinked.

"I... I did? Of what?..." Misty asked, looking clueless.

Before Danny and Star could say anything, the girl hissed in pain as she gripped her head again.

"Ow! My head. I feel like I got hit by a truck!..."She muttered.

"You might as well have..." Tucker said before Sam stomped on his foot.

"Oof!..." He hissed.

"Shut it!..."Sam said through her clenched teeth, since now is not the time for jokes.

Tucker sent her a glare as he waited for his foot to heal. Misty still seemed confused, before she finally noticed the wooden statue that was once her disgraced ancestor.

She made a disgusted face at it, frowning.

"Uh... what is that ugly thing?..." She asked, looking like she really didn't recognize who was once her former minion.

Tucker walked over to it and smiled.

"Don't worry, it's just a really ugly wooden statue..." He said as he leaned on it.

However, his weight was too much as it made the statue fall over, breaking off the arms and even shattering half the hair on it, making it really damaged.

All but Misty gasp. Danny and Star even faintly heard a muffled sound of pain, but they were sure that it was their imagination. Or at least, they hoped that this was the case. Danny saw this and cringed, but tried to say nothing or think about it too much.

"Well...it's not like he didn't deserve it..."He thought as Misty looked around.

She seemed to have a disgusted look on her face as she looked around the dirty, damaged and abandoned restaurant, as well as the damaged wooden statue that is now in pieces on the ground.

"Ugh, I'm glad this place is abandoned. Ugly statue or not, I'd hate to have to be the one to pay to get that stupid thing fixed..."She said, making it clear that she really has no clue where she is or what that statue really is.

"Yeah..." Star said, just happy that Shi is no longer gonna be a problem for them.

Danny saw the damage again and figured that even if Shi could come back, he's lost his arms, making his threat level lower. He went back to talking to Misty. She kept rubbing the back of her head and complaining and they got a little worried about her physical well-being.

"We should get you to a doctor..."Danny said, as Star nodded in agreement.

While she was still upset about what she had done, they can't leave her like this, she didn't deserve that, especially with her memory as it is.

"Okay, sure..."Misty said, but hissed again as she had trouble balancing now.

"I got you..."Danny said as she leaned on him, too unsteady to move properly.

Star didn't like this, but allowed it since the girl was injured and didn't truly seem to be making a move here.

They all left the area, leaving Shi behind and the wooden, broken statue laid in the middle of the abandoned restaurant, no longer a threat to them or anyone else.

Later

Team Phantom had taken Misty to the nearest hospital that they could find. It was a small clinic compared to the hospital at Amity Park, but it's the one that Misty's family goes to. The doctor was currently checking her and gave the usual tests to see if any damage was done to her, while the other teenagers were in the waiting room, trying to figure out their next move.

"So, she really lost her memory?..."Tucker asked.

"Looks like it. She didn't even recall who Shi was and she seemed so confused..."Star said.

"So, now what do we do with her?..."Sam asked, unsure of what to do.

Danny and Star thought about it and they both looked a bit conflicted here. It's true that Misty is responsible for releasing that jiangshi and tried to ruin their relationship, but she seems to be really remorseful for that and did what she could to make things right. Plus, she did get rid of Shi and she doesn't even seem to remember the entire incident.

As far as they knew, her memories were gone, and it seemed hard to punish someone for something they can't even remember.

"I don't know. She did lose her memory and she did save us from Shi in the end..."Danny said.

"She saved us from a mess that she started..."Star said, still upset but sighing.

Thinking back, this whole event had been a wild roller coaster ride not just for her, but for them too. She still wasn't sure if she should still see her as an enemy anymore or not. However, Misty did seem sincere and sided with them in the end before she lost her memory. It was hard to categorize her to be honest.

"Then again, she did turn him to wood and she doesn't even seem to remember, so I don't know..."Star said, shrugging.

"Let's see just how much she seems to remember first and then figure it out from there..."Jazz suggested.

All of them nodded, since they needed to know how she'd respond.

Anyway, Misty soon walked out of the doctor's office, with the physician she was with. Her head was bandaged but otherwise, she seemed no worse for wear.

"Okay, Miss Smith-Yang. Get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activity and you should be feeling better soon..."The doctor said, adjusting his glasses.

He then wrote down a doctor's note for the raven haired girl to give to her mother. She nodded, but had to be careful due to her head injury.

"Thank you, Doctor Chambers..."Misty said, smiling as she walked out.

All of them approached her, wondering what's the answer. They all had weird, cautionary looks on their faces as they went to the seemingly-amnesiac girl.

"Misty..."Danny said as he smiled.

"Oh... Danny! ... and... Star..."She said, trying to keep smiling.

"Hi. You okay?..." Star asked.

"Y-Yeah... my head's feeling better...ish. I don't have any concussions, so that's a relief..."Misty said, smiling.

"That's good..."Danny said, before bringing something up.

"Uh, Misty...we do need to ask you a few things..."He said, needing to know how to handle her.

"About what?..."Misty asked, looking lost.

The ghost boy paused before saying anything, feeling a bit awkward about interrogating a girl with slight amnesia. He also realized that a clinic might not be the most appropriate setting for this kind of conversation either.

"Not here...ugh, let's take you home and talk there..."Danny said as he motioned for her to follow.

"Do you remember where you live, at least? Or are you having trouble with that too?..." Tucker asked carelessly before Sam and Jazz both kick him in the calf, making him hiss in pain.

"I remember..." Misty said, glaring at him for that.

"Uh... yeah... anyway... lead the way?..." Danny asked.

Misty nodded, wanting an excuse to bring him to her house.

They all soon left, thought Misty kept leaning on Danny for assistance and Star only tolerated it due to her injuries...but she didn't like it one bit.

At Misty's house

Team Phantom took her to her house and Misty had just finished explaining to her mother that she got a head injury, but was otherwise okay. However, her mother and grandmother both hovered over Misty now, and not for their usual reasons.

"Are you okay, Dear? Does it hurt?..."Mei asked in a gentle tone, something Misty wasn't used to but she wasn't really surprised.

While she might be strict and have high expectations for her daughter, she still cared about her and wanted her to be safe. She is her mother after all.

"I'm fine, Mom. It isn't hurting anymore..."Misty said, slightly relieved to see her mother act different for once.

"Never the less, you're not going to school tomorrow. You're gonna stay home and rest until I am sure that you are feeling better..."Mei said, being lenient for once.

"Whatever you say, Mom..."Misty said, shrugging but actually glad to hear this.

"Thank you again for bringing Misty home, I am glad that she has such nice friends who care for her..."Lao Lao said, smiling as they remained silent and uncomfortable.

"Yeah, uh...friends..."Danny said, unsure if that word even applies to them, but didn't argue.

In seconds, both mother and grandmother surrounded Misty, and wanted to make sure that she was okay.

"I'll go brew you some chamomile tea and soup. That will help you feel better..."Lao Lao said, smiling warmly before going to do just that.

"I'll go get some ice for your head, as soon as the freezer makes more since you brother used up the ice a while ago..."Mei said as she left to go get some.

After that, Danny decided to approach Misty. He needed to know how she's doing.

"Still having trouble remembering?..." Danny asked, and she nodded.

"Yeah, it's all a huge blank. I recall... a restaurant... but we weren't eating there. Why did we go there...and why did that place seem like nobody even works there? And why did we even go to an abandoned restaurant in the first place?..."The dark haired girl asked, truly lost.

"So...the name "Shi"...or the word "magic" doesn't ring any bells?..."Star asked, wanting to be sure about something.

"Uh, no...and magic? What the heck are you talking about? Did we go seem some magic show or what? And why was I hanging out with you guys again?..."Misty asked.

Star saw that she really seemed to be lost and unable to recall anything.

"I guess she really did forget..." She thought, figuring it's true.

However, Misty then sent a smitten look at Danny and he looked away, trying not make eye contact with her right now. His girlfriend looked annoyed.

"But it seems that she still remembers THAT!..."Star thought, rolling her eyes.

"Well... glad you're okay..." Danny said, rubbing the back of his head in an uncomfortable fashion.

Misty smiled fondly at him, staring dreamily at him with a light blush on her face.

"Yeah, I'm glad too. I don't remember anything we did together, but I'm glad that you were there..."She said, still blushing.

"Oh man. I can't believe she's still into me. Of course she remembers that..."Danny thought as she kept trying to get closer to him, despite her injuries.

"Thanks again for taking me to the doctor, Danny. That was really sweet of you..."Misty said and the boy cringed.

"Uh...no problem but...we all did that..."Danny pointed out, while his friends and girlfriend frowned and wanted to speak up.

"I know...but you did let me lean on you as you helped me walk back then...thanks again..."She said, still feeling giddy that her crush did that for her.

"Well, to be fair, we couldn't let Tucker do it..." Star said, gesturing to him and deciding to give her the benefit of the doubt.

"Why does everyone think I was gonna hit on her?..." Tucker asked, looking annoyed.

"Because it's you..." All the girls sans Misty said.

Tucker wanted to say something, but decided he didn't want to get hurt anymore, so he kept quiet. Misty seemed irritated before she turned her attention back to Danny, namely because she wanted to talk with him more.

"Either way, thank you..."Misty said, while Star shook her fists as she tried to remind herself that she's injured and amnesiac right now.

"I know that she lost her memory, but she'd better cool it!..."The blonde girl thought.

Thankfully, Danny sighed and decided to set Misty straight by being honest and straight to the point.

"Misty...look...you're a nice girl and I'm flattered that you seem to like me...but I'm just not interested..."He said and the girl looked down.

"Really?..."She asked, looking unhappy as he nodded.

"Yeah, look, you're pretty and I'm sure that plenty of guys would love to go out with you once you get to know them. I'm sure that you'll find a nice guy to treat you right, but I'm sorry but it can't be me. I love Star and I'm happy with her..."Danny said, gesturing to his girlfriend who looked pleased to hear this from him.

Misty seemed sad but didn't fight it.

"Oh, I understand..."She said, sounding disappointed but she didn't voice it.

It was a stark contrast to the girl who held Star in her basement with intentions of scaring her into leaving town earlier today.

"She really seems to be moving on. I guess that jiangshi must have been messing with her mind and what I saw was his manipulations..."Star thought, her previous anger fading.

"Thanks for understanding. I'm glad that's settled, even if you're with a head injury..." Danny said, as the dark haired girl shrugged.

"Well, at least I get to finally take a break from school for once..." Misty said, seeing this as a good chance for a break.

All the while, Lao lao, who had gone downstairs to get some extra condiments for her soup, found something and decided to find out what it is. She brought it upstairs and couldn't resist trying it out, and then the taste hit her, instantly feeling like she just tasted something heavenly.

"Mmm!~..." Lao Lao said, tasting the sauce.

"What is it, Mother?..."Mei asked, as she was preparing more ice for her daughter.

"Mei... try this..."Lao Lao said as she offered her a spoonful of that stuff.

Mei reluctantly did so. However, the moment she tasted it, her eyes shot open and she smiled.

"Huh... that's delicious..."She said. "When did you find time to make this? I have to know your recipe..."She said, as she took another bite of the delicious sauce.

"I didn't make this. I thought that you did..."Lao Lao said, much to her daughter's confusion.

"I didn't make this either..."Mei said.

"Then who?..."Lao Lao asked out loud.

The could think of one other person, who could have possibly made this delicious sauce.

"Misty?..."Lao lao called from the kitchen.

"Yes, Lao Lao!..."Misty said, flinching at the volume of her own voice due to her head injury, but also wondering what she wanted.

"Did you make this sauce?..."She asked, before taking another spoonful.

"Ye- uh... wait, what sauce?..." She asked as she went to the kitchen to see them tasting it.

"This. I found a huge bowl of this downstairs and a recipe next to it. It tastes... delicious!..."Lao Lao said as she and Mei tried some more of it.

"Really?..."Misty asked and her mother nodded.

"Yes, it is. It seems that your cooking skills have improved tremendously. This tastes much better than the cake you made last month..."Mei commented, humming in delight.

Misty didn't know how to respond to this while her mother and grandmother took another taste of the sauce, savoring it.

"I should sell food with this! We could make a killing selling this at the swap meet..."Lao Lao said, seeing this as a good opportunity for them.

"Huh... neat..." Misty commented, happy that something good happened today.

They all began tasting the sauce, none of them getting enough of it.

Back in the living room

"Is it really safe for them to eat that?! That jiangshi did use that stuff to free himself from Misty's control!..."Star said in concern.

"Seems safe. Meilin did say that he was at least a good chef that catered to royalty or something..."Danny said.

"I guess that something that means freedom for jiangshi's...is just a tasty sauce for humans. That's a surprise..."Sam said, shrugging as it was the least weird part of this whole experience.

"Well, if it tastes half as good as it smells, then I don't think they'll have too much money problems later on..."Tucker said, since the smell of it was making him hungry.

"I guess Shi did do one good thing for Misty, after all that trouble that he caused. I just hope that it improves her life enough and she gets over me soon..."Danny thought as he scratched his chin.

"Well, guess we should go..." Jazz said as she went to the door.

"Come on..." Sam said as she pulled Tucker by the collar.

"Aww... but I want a taste!..."He complained, but he was ignored as the goth girl kept dragging him away.

As that went on, Danny and Star started talking and bring up something. Such as the homemade gift that the blonde girl spent the entire weekend making for him...one that didn't exactly meet anyone's standards in the slightest.

"So...I guess you hated the sweater, right?..."Star asked, making him flinch.

"Uh...what...makes you say that?..."Danny asked, nervous.

"Let's just say that Misty...sorta made me realize how overeager I was. So, it really was that bad, huh?..."Star asked, smiling at him.

"No...no...no...it wasn't...completely...bad..."Danny said, nervous but his girlfriend's stares broke him.

"Uh...well, it was...more colorful than what I am used too..."Danny said, shrugging.

Star then sighed.

"I know what you're trying to spare my feelings...it's sweet of you though I can see it now. But thanks for at least trying to make me feel better..."She said, smiling at him.

Danny gave in and smiled. He couldn't hide it anymore that he hated wearing it.

"Sorry about the sweater..." Danny admitted, knowing that she worked so hard on it and just wanted to make him happy.

"No worries...I'll just buy you one. And I promise, it won't be like a rainbow threw up on you..." Star jokingly answered. "I do appreciate you trying to be delicate with my feelings, you really don't have to do that. I'm a big girl that's perfectly capable of taking construction criticism. Especially yours..."She said, wagging her finger at him trying to play dumb.

Danny laughed it off and waved it away. He hugged her to show how sorry he was to kept his real thoughts hidden away from her. He should know better than to hide something from her.

"Sorry for lie..."He said.

"Sorry for making you dress up like a child's drawing..."Star said, scratching the back of her head.

"It really was a sweet gesture and I do appreciate it, but if you still wanna make it up to me...well... I think that I know cheaper way to do it..."He said in a hinting way.

He was held his arms out and motioned for her to kiss him. Before she took the first step to do so, everything froze.

The reason why...It was Misty.

She was the only one who wasn't frozen as she march in from the kitchen, looking peeved and irritated. They apparently thought that since she was in the kitchen, she couldn't see or hear them about to kiss...but she did and made her move.

Her eyes and hands had briefly glowed green, but not as brightly as earlier. However, she took the bandages off her head like it were a hat. Her head injury wasn't that bad, in fact, it wasn't enough to cause said amnesia. To make a long story short, she faked the whole thing.

Anyway, Misty, who is still unfrozen, stormed over and scowled. It seems that she wasn't okay with it after all.

"Just buy him one? Are you kidding?! UGH!..." She went, infuriated as her previous resentment for Star boiled up again. "I should've known... this girl has everything! She doesn't deserve a great guy like Danny! I should be with him!..." She muttered, arms crossed.

It seems that she didn't actually lose her memory at all. She still remembers the battle and Shi perfectly, but she pretended to lose her memory to lose any hate or distrust that Danny and the others might have felt for her.

"I am so glad that I faked it...and that I snatched this when no one was looking..."Misty said, as she pulled out her spell book that had been in her bag, the same one that the others seem to have forgotten.

She quickly went to her room, placed it there in a safe spot and quickly came back. Her spell would still be in effect for about a minute and she wanted to take advantage of it. She looked at Star, having the same resentment from earlier, even if it has lessened to an extent.

Unfortunately, not enough for her to let things go or have her stop seeing her as a rival.

"Just because you helped save my life, doesn't mean this changes anything between us, princess. You can find someone else to fall for your tricks..."Misty said, shaking her fist.

She was half tempted to cast another spell on her but she knew Star would notice and figure out that she was faking her amnesia, so she resisted the temptation and settled for sending her a dirty look.

The dark haired girl turned away, not wanting to look at her anymore.

She looked at Danny and smiled fondly, still feeling her feelings she felt around them, but they had gotten stronger after he saved her life and after seeing how brave and cool he was when he tried to stand up to Shi, even if he had no powers or magic to back him up. It was really brave of him to do all of that and the girl still felt very strongly for him.

Too strongly and getting more intense, as she is still not willing to give up her chances to win him over.

If anything, she was more determined than ever.

"I was right, you really are amazing. You were so brave against Shi, even if you didn't had a chance without my magic. You're twice- no three times the man I first thought you were. You're my hero, Danny~..."She said in a dreamy voice.

She then sent a glare to Star and huffed up a bit, before she turned her attention back to her beloved and kept sending him enamored looks as she kept talking. Being with Danny and admitting her love to him in front of Star, even if no one was aware of it, was enough for her for now.

"You deserve someone who doesn't just burn off so much money at once and who can just do whatever without she thinks she can do without effort or realizing how ugly their sweater is. You deserve someone who would do such a labor of love without messing up. You deserve... me! I'll wait until it's time... and then I'll prove to you that you belong with me..."She said as she got closer.

She examined his cute face long enough to go down to his mouth. She looked at how he's puckering his lips and smiled as she got some ideas.

She had no one to see what she was doing, so she was free to do what she desired. She also knew that the spell would only last for about 30 seconds left and wanted to make use of it. Especially since she wasn't sure when she'd get another opportunity like this one.

"Not exactly how I pictured how my first kiss would go...but I think that I deserve this. And someday, we'll do it together without any magic, except for what's between us..."She said, deciding to go for it.

With nobody around, supernatural or not, Misty took this rare opportunity to get at least one kiss from the guy of her dreams. Taking the chance, she wrapped her arms around him, closing her eyes and kissing him as hard as she could.

"Mmmmmmmm~..."Misty moaned as she enjoyed the feeling.

It took moments, but she finally parted and smiled warmly before hugging him. Her heart was beating fast as she had savored the feel from her first kiss with her crush, even if he has no idea that it had happened.

It was still enough to make her feel happiness and love in her heart, like a princess kissing her knight in shining armor for the first time ever!

"Wow! That was even better than I thought!..."She thought, sighing in pleasure and touched her lips in awe.

She then caressed her crush's face and decided to steal another, shorter kiss just because of a whim, feeling just as happy as the last one.

Once she pulled away, she was smiling a mile wide and blushing up a storm. She was still over the moon about her first kiss with the guy she likes, even with the unusual circumstances.

"Even without realizing it, you're a really good kisser! I definitely think that I found my Mr. Right in you, Danny!~..."She thought as pressed her forehead on his.

The feelings that she felt around him were as strong as ever and she knew that she loved him. She was certain of that, happy that she managed to steal her first kiss and get away with it, even if that's all that she's gonna get for now.

Still, she decided to be patient and still felt confident about her future.

"Misty Fenton is gonna be a thing... I'll make sure of it..."She said, looking at Danny with an enamored expression.

She then noticed some of her strawberry lipstick was smudged on his lips, making him look pretty cute to her. However, since she didn't want to leave any traces of what she had done or tip him off, she quickly wiped it off and smiled like a kid successfully stealing from the cookie jar.

She giggled and admired his face a bit longer.

"Someday, I'd love the world to see my handiwork...but for now, gotta play it cool and keep things under the rug for now..."She thought.

Once she finally let him go and, once back in her spot in the kitchen, broke the spell, allowing the two to embrace and quickly put the bandages back on.

Danny, oblivious to what had happened, kissed Star. It lasted for a few seconds but they both felt blissful afterwards.

"Waited to do that all day..."He said, smiling.

"Me too..." Star said, smiling back at him and still unaware of what had happened.

Misty soon "returned" to the living room, playing dumb and decided to play a nice host.

"Anyway guys, make yourselves at home. Wanna stay for dinner?..."The dark haired girl asked, smiling innocently as she offered the couch to them.

However, both of them knew they should go.

"Thanks for the offer, Misty. But we should go home. It's getting late..." Danny said.

"Yeah. Plus, the others are waiting outside anyway..." Star pointed out.

"Oh, okay, maybe some other time..."Misty said, smiling but Star felt uneasy about it for some reason.

"Well, we gotta go..." Danny said.

"Okay, if you insist..." Misty said, trying to look sweet and innocent as she walked them to the door.

As they did, Star decided to play nice.

"Maybe we can... hang out sometime?..." Star asked, hoping to make a friend out of her.

"That'd be fun..." Misty lied, sending her a fake smile as mentally hated the idea of hanging without Danny.

"Why do I still feel like she doesn't like me? Is it just residual distrust?..."Star thought, as they reached the door.

"Bye guys, see you..."Misty said, opening the door for them.

"Bye..." The two went.

They walked out together and waved to her goodbye before they rejoined the others. They then headed back to their homes. However, the ghostly boy noticed something.

"Huh..."Danny said as he felt his lips as they felt funny.

"Something wrong, Boo?..."Star asked as they walked out of Misty's house.

"It's just... my mouth feels... weird. Did you kiss me twice? Or more than that?..."Danny asked, feeling strange and almost uncomfortable.

"No..."Star answered with confusion.

Her boyfriend felt something, but decided not to press further.

"Huh... guess I'm just overthinking it..."Danny said, before felt something in his mouth.

"And why do I taste strawberry all of a sudden?..."He asked out loud, feeling that something strange happened but he has no clue as to why.

He received no answer as Star had something else in mind. Namely, if he can still go ghost.

"How about your powers? Are they still sealed?..."Star asked in concern.

Danny quickly tried and was relieved when his right arm briefly turned intangible.

"Good news, whatever Shi did to me seems to have worn off. I'm a-ok..."Danny said, smiling. "I can already feel ghost powers back and myself healing from the fight..."He said.

"Good, can't have my man be powerless and injured..."Star said, wrapping her arm around him.

As soon as they left, Misty smirked as she went to her room to "rest" after her mother and grandmother had given her the tea and ice for her head. Once she closed the door, she let out a sigh of relief and pulled the bandages off again.

"That's a relief. Otherwise, I had no idea how I was gonna explain everything to them... now then..." She looked at the book. "I gotta play dumb, for now..."She said as she went to her spell book.

It was still fully intact and thanks to her quick thinking and acting, she's got a clean slate with Danny and the others, whom don't suspect a thing now. She recognized her plan failed due to using a monster she trusted. A mistake that she doesn't plan on repeating anytime soon.

She needed to avoid trusting another to help her, she had to be the master. That much she knew.

"It looks like I can't rely on monsters anymore...duh...and I also gotta be careful with what spells I use and what I should and shouldn't do. I don't wanna end up being the next "Shi" in the family. I gotta make sure to plan everything..."She muttered as she read the book.

She saw a series of spells to think of using. All of them have a lot of potential, but she knew that she had to be careful and that she might still be on thin ice with Danny and his friends, even if she manages to trick them into thinking she's forgotten what happened.

Next time, she'll have to think up of a whole new game plan with completely different strategy, all while acting innocent until she can get another chance to win her crush over.

"I guess that I'm gonna have to think of something smarter...but for now...I guess I'll take a break and lay low for a while..."She thought as she had one spell in mind.

She then conjured an image of Danny who smiled at her. She smiled at him and blew an air kiss in the direction of the magic image of her crush, still thinking about the first and only kiss that she had with him, even if he has no way of knowing about it. However, she also conjured a smaller image of Star and glared at it, making her look as smug as possible when she conjured her before she blew it away.

"You might still be Danny's girlfriend Star, but I know that he and I are meant to be. So enjoy it while you can, Princess. Sooner or later, Danny will be with me, forever!..."Misty thought as her eyes briefly flashed green again, smiling a bit darkly.

One thing that is for sure, this was no where near over yet.

"Misty, I told you to get some rest! What are you doing in there?!..."Her mother yelled from the other side of the door, having hear something and still worried about her daughter's health.

Misty flinched and quickly got rid of her magical images in case her mom suddenly came barging in. She then lied on the bed, pretending to still be weak and quickly placed the bandages back on her head to keep her act up.

"I am, Mom. I just needed...something from my bag..."Misty said, knowing that she will have to keep this "injured" act up for a few days, and hide her powers.

"Well, alright but stay in bed and get some rest! And if you need anything, just call me and I'll get it..."Mei said before she left.

Misty sighed in relief, happy that she didn't get caught.

"I bet Danny doesn't have to deal with secrets like these..." She muttered as she re-create Danny's image, this time without Star.

"See you soon, Danny..." She said, waving for him to disappear as she stared up at the ceiling, the kiss on her mind.

A kiss she didn't want to forget, even if he won't remember it.

With Team Phantom

Sam and Tucker had left in Jazz's car to go home since it was getting late. Danny, who was glad to have his powers back, was flying Star home via Air Phantom. He was carrying her bridal style, just like she always prefers.

However, the ghost boy suddenly felt a chill down his spine and not because of his ghost sense.

"What's wrong, Danny- boo?..."Star asked, noticing that he seemed a little uneasy.

"I dunno...just felt like something's a little off, but I'm not sure what..."Danny said. "And I can't help but feel like we forgot something..."He said.

"What could we have forgotten? We beat the bad guy, Misty is no longer a threat and she's accepted us. In my book, that's a good day..."Star said, brushing it off.

"Eh, you're probably right..."Danny said, but he still had a shaky feeling that this might not be the last they see of Misty.

He just hopes that she doesn't recall how to use magic again, or that might cause some problems later on.

"At least she forgot about the magic stuff and seemed to accept that Star and I aren't breaking up. That's about right..."He thought as he carried his lady love in his arms.

Then it hit him like a ton of bricks. He then recalled what they forgot and even stopped in mid flight once realization sunk in.

"Wait... where's the book that Misty got back from that even crazier, jiangshi version of Vlad?..." Danny asked, looking worried.

Star thought and tried to recall what could've happened. That spell book was a big source of trouble for them today and it just disappeared.

"The last time I saw it, it was with him when he turned to wood? All I know is I didn't see it anywhere after he became the world's ugliest lawn ornament..." Star said. "I guess it must have turned to wood when he got hit by the spell or something..."She said.

Danny thought about it and accepted it, since it made as much sense as everything else that had happened today. He figured that she might be right.

"I guess... that's good. I'd hate for something like that to fall into the wrong hands again..."He said, feeling some relief.

"Misty did say that only someone from her family can use that thing, and she even forgot to use magic all together. I'm sure that it would be totally useless in anyone else's hands, especially since she doesn't even remember how to use it..."Star said, not knowing how wrong she is right now.

"Yeah, good thing..."Danny said, hoping that this would be the last they had to deal with that lousy spell book.

They went back to their other issue. Such as what Shi wanted.

"I still can't believe that I was almost forced to marry some creepy vampire and turn into his mindless minion/queen...I mean, that's like something about of a bad horror movie..."Star said, frowning.

"I know, one that needed me to come save you. That would at least give it a happy ending..."Danny said.

Star laughed at that a bit, glad that she can always count on her boyfriend save her when she needs him to and to protect her, especially from creeps.

This incident also reminded her of another creep that she had the misfortune to run into, and how Shi practically made him look like a gentleman in comparison...even if it was in the loosest sense of the word.

"And I thought Donovan was a creep, but that Shi guy was a new level of creepy and pushy. Eww! I just hope that I never have to see him again or I just might end up puking my guts out until I run out of insides..."Star complained.

"I just hope that Donovan jerk doesn't try to kiss you or even think of laying a hand on you either... or I might have to kick his butt like I did with Shi..."Danny said in a protective manner, knowing that he wouldn't hold back if some creep tried to assault her again.

His girlfriend was flattered, it was something that she found alluring.

"Aw, you'd do that for me, Danny-Boo. I knew that you loved me..."Star said, nuzzling into his chest.

"Well, duh. You're my Starlight and I won't let ANYONE hurt you or touch you. Be it creepy vampires, or annoying jerks who can't take no for an answer. No matter what, I'll always protect you with everything I got..."Danny said, meaning it.

Star smiled and kissed him on the lips again, happy to hear that.

"I love you..."She said, meaning it.

"I love you too..."Danny said, smiling lovingly at her.

The couple kissed once more before Danny flew her home, their day ending in victory. Star sighed as she just enjoyed the flight, while she was being held in her beloved's arms. Danny is right, no one could get between them and get away with it.

"I just hope Misty finds someone to help her get over Danny and soon. I can't blame her for liking him, but at least she knows that he's off the market for good, if I have any say in it..."She thought as Danny flew her home, both just as much in love with each other as ever.

The two lovebirds simply admired how their true love look like in the pale moonlight, deep in the sky.

"Wow!~..."They both thought in sync before sharing one more kiss before Danny continued to fly her home before curfew.

And Star would find another sweater to thank him with.

She didn't care what happens next, whether it's another ghost, monster or an obnoxious rival trying to mess with them, no one is gonna take her one true love away from her or in vice versa.

As it should be.

They can handle anything, even obsessive girls with a crush or monsters who can't take no for an answer.

Anyway, while she still a little uncertain of the future, Star knew that she and Danny still loved each other and that's all she needed to know that they can handle anything together and she knew that whatever next obstacles they may face as a couple, they will face together.

No matter what.

Pokemon fan 1991: Okay.

Themetavoorhes1996: Yeah.

Unfortunately, Misty managed to avoid having any unpleasant talks with Danny and the others for now.
