Author's Note:

1. I do not own Xiaolin Showdown but I do love both of the series. I do own Gloria/Gizmo who is Jack's daughter in fanfiction; she'll be a character throughout the story and I hope you will all like her

2. This fanfiction is an updated version of a story that I had started writing in 2014 and stopped working on in 2016 due to a lack of time and inspiration. Unfortunately I lost the original files and thus have no other choice but to post an entirely new version of the story that was copied and pasted from the original and then edited. Hopefully this version will be grammatically correct and have less errors overall.

3. This chapter was not in original fanfiction, it's a completely new chapter that has been added to the story. This chapter is essentially from Gizmo's perspective and is mostly for filler, though I admit it turned out longer than I intended because I was having fun with it.

It's also a reminder that Gizmo is extremely intelligent, but also a four year old girl at the same time; so it makes for an interesting chapter in my opinion, and I also reveal her dragon element so there's that too.

Anyway, time to move on, I hope those that are reading the story will enjoy it.

Gizmo meanwhile had been playing in her room ever since she had heard from Chase about Shadow having caused her father to kill her, or at least Gizmo was pretending to play so that the numerous cats that had come to check on her wouldn't worry; in reality she had been doing a lot of thinking.

"Poor Daddy, I hope he's okay." Gizmo thought to herself, doing her best not to sigh out loud as she fiddled around with her doll house.

"I hope Chase made sure to tell Daddy that I don't hate him, after all it's not his fault that Shadow was purposely lying to him to make him angry enough to kill her." Gizmo continued thinking to herself as she made one of her dolls dance in with another in the dollhouse.

"I'm sure it may seem obvious but I care for your Father, there are things I need to think about regarding this fact but I thought you should know." Chase had told her after informing her of Shadow's fate.

She had of course told him that she understood, it was clear that Chase had felt something for her Father the moment he'd first come to get her; and then it became all the more obvious after her Father had agreed to become his apprentice. Still everything was happening very fast, this wasn't like her story books where a princess could easily fall in love at first sight with a man who had come to rescue her.

For one thing there was no princess and prince falling in love in this story, this time there were two princes; which Gizmo certainly didn't mind. More importantly these two princes in particular weren't meeting for the first time, they had known each other in the past and from what Gizmo had been able to gather from listening to them talk before their past together hadn't been full of the greatest memories.

"That's okay though, things are different now, Daddy forgave Chase for the past and now they could make new and better memories." Gizmo thought to herself happily as she continued to play with her dolls.

The thought had barely crossed her mind when there was a knock at her door, when she got up to open it she was pleased at first to see that it was Chase and her Father who were holding hands; though she was quick to notice that both he and Chase let go of each other's hand upon the sight of her and that both there was a strange atmosphere between them.

"Hey baby girl, do you want to have dinner with Chase and I?" Her father asked, making sure to smile happily at her but clearly having something on his mind.

"I'd love to Daddy!" Gizmo said, making sure to make her voice cheerful and excited as inwardly she analyzed what was going on between her father and Chase at the moment.

"Well come then let's go to the dining hall." Her Father said, continuing to smile and be cheerful as he signaled her to follow him as he took the lead.

"Aren't you going to hold my hand Daddy?" Gizmo asked, noticing that he was hesitating to do so.

"Of course sweetheart, sorry about that." Her Father said looking embarrassed and cautiously taking her hand.

"He's afraid I hate him, that I'll be disgusted by him and won't want to hold his hand after what he did to Shadow. Poor Daddy, I'll have to prove to him I still love him." Gizmo thought to herself, squeezing her father's hand more tightly as she thought this.

"Chase you should take my other hand, we can all walk together to the dinning hall!" Gizmo said cheerfully, looking over to Chase who seemed to be watching her and her Father and appeared in deep thought.

"You'd want to hold my cold scaly hand?" Chase asked in a surprisingly self deprecating way.

"Your hands are not scaly silly, and if they're cold I can help warm at least one up by holding it." Gizmo said kindly at first before being bold and taking Chase's hand before he could argue.

"Now come you two, let's go eat together!" Gizmo added insistently, trying to pull on both their hands so they'd move.

Both her Father and Chase seemed amused by this and allowed themselves to be led by Gizmo, she could sense that they both had a lot on their minds but were hiding it as they all made their way into the dinning hall. Once inside Gizmo reluctantly let go of both their hands so they could all sit, dinner quickly appeared on the table from seemingly out of nowhere and they began eating.

Used to her mother and father having some sort of dinner conversation at the table in the past, Gizmo was initially surprised when no one started talking; then quickly realized that it was both because of what had happened earlier and because of whatever was going on between her Father and Chase.

"They're not mad at each other, that much is obvious. Still there's definitely something going on." Gizmo thought to herself as she ate in silence.

"Well if they're not willingly going to speak to each other then I have no choice but to make them talk." Gizmo continued to think to herself, inwardly sighing before speaking out loud.

"Are you two not speaking to each other because of what happened to Shadow earlier?" Gizmo blurted out, not knowing how to put it politely.

Her Father choked slightly on the food he had been eating at this question, as for Chase; he too was noticeably surprised but concealed it much better then her Father had.

"Gizzie, what would make you ask something like that?" Her Father asked in a dumbfounded way.

"It is a surprisingly sudden question." Chase chimed in, trying to hide his bewilderment.

"I just noticed that you two were being quiet. Daddy you always talk to me about my day at dinner but you're not speaking at all tonight. Also you two aren't looking at each other at all, let alone talking." Gizmo said explaining herself in what she felt was a logical way given the tension between them.

"I just think that if you two aren't speaking to each other because of Shadow then it's a bit silly, she lied to get Daddy to what she wanted and now she's gone. If you're both not talking to each other because of that then it's a bit silly in my opinion." Gizmo added, looking between her Father and Chase to gauge their reactions.

"Honey, that's not why we're not talking... well not completely anyway." Her Father said looking both surprised by what Gizmo had said but also embarrassed.

"But is it a part of it?" Gizmo asked, having noticed Her Father's choice of words.

"Yes, but it's complicated; your father and I have agreed to figure things out together." Chase chimed in when her Father floundered for a response.

"I see, and how is not talking to each other at all going to help you do that?" Gizmo asked in a very blunt way, which stunned both her Father and Chase.

"A fair point, we will have to work on that; since we spent most of the day together, why don't you tell us about your day." Chase said looking baffled at first but then quickly regaining his composure and changing the subject.

"Okay, I can do that." Gizmo said eagerly despite knowing this was a blatant attempt at getting her to drop the previous subject.

Gizmo told them about how her day had started with how she had awoken and had found Jasper sitting outside her door, the panther had delivered her Father's message to her and had escorted her to Lady Hera who was her teacher. After having been told by Lady Hera to be more respectful to Chase she had started lessons, it had been easy things at first like learning basic math and letters; things Lady Hera had quickly discovered Gizmo already knew.

Gizmo told them that once her teacher had realized that she'd need to change up Gizmo's normal school curriculum they had agreed to move on to the less traditional methods of teaching, also known as training her on how to control her powers.

Gizmo told them that upon hearing her stomach rumble as they were about to start her power training Lady Hera had scolded Jasper for not letting her have breakfast beforehand, she had insisted that Gizmo go eat before they continued. Of course, in hindsight Gizmo had been glad Lady Hera had insisted; as that had been when she'd eaten breakfast with Chase and her father.

After breakfast she had been escorted back to the training room, she told her father and Chase that she'd been surprised when she found the room she had been in had a bunch of strange objects laid out on the table; she had been instructed by Lady Hera to touch each of them and that they were apparently going to determine what her element was.

"And what element do you possess?" Chase asked suddenly in an intrigued way, having spoken for the first time since Gizmo had started talking.

"It's alright baby, you can tell us." Her father encouraged Gizmo when she looked over at him in slight hesitation.

"Electricity, Lady Hera said my element is electricity." Gizmo told both Chase and her Father, having hesitated because she had been afraid her father would be disappointed that she was not also a metal dragon; but feeling very pleased when he smiled excitedly.

"That makes complete sense!" Her father said in a very enthusiastic way.

"Indeed it does, metal conducts electricity after all. Your powers suit each other." Chase said in an improving tone.

"Anyway, my apologies for interrupting. You may continue telling us about your day, Gizmo." Chase added, signaling for Gizmo to continue what she had been talking about.

Gizmo, despite feeling very pleased with herself for earning Chase's approval, was quick to do as she was told. She told both him and her Father that after having discovered what element she possessed Lady Hera had told her that they would be practicing how to summon it at will.

This had been a very difficult task at first, she had only summoned her powers once when she'd been angry at Chase for insulting her Father initially; of course this had been before they had met again.

Lady Hera had been quick to scold her about the first time she had used her abilities and had very sternly told her that using her powers on Chase was strictly prohibited unless she was ordered to do so, given how Chase had reacted upon meeting him her Father again Gizmo had deemed this a promise that she could make. Lady Hera had been pleased by her promise but then had told Gizmo that they would need to practice summoning her powers without her being angry.

This had been a difficult task indeed for Gizmo but eventually after focusing she had been able to summon the smallest amount of her powers, Lady Hera had praised her but Gizmo had insisted that she had wanted to try to summon more of her power.

Lady Hera had been pleased by her eagerness and had allowed her to continue to practice, eventually she had informed Gizmo that it was time for her to eat lunch. Gizmo had been excited to see her Father and Chase but as she had approached the dining hall, with Jasper as her escort, she had run into Chase carrying her shaking Father in his arms. After he had told what had happened and having told her that he cared for her Father; he had apologetically told Gizmo that they would not be joining her for lunch.

Gizmo had of course understood and had gone to eat on her own, well not completely on her own; Jasper had stayed with her.

Once she had finished with lunch Gizmo had allowed Jasper to lead her back to where Lady Hera was waiting, she had tried to go back to training but couldn't focus because she had been worried about her Father.

"When Lady Hera noticed I wasn't focusing she asked what was wrong, I explained to her what happened and she told me I could take the rest of the day off, I tried to tell her I was fine but she insisted that I let Jasper take me back to my room to rest." Gizmo explained with a sigh.

"Of course I couldn't rest because I was worried about Daddy, but I told Jasper I would just play quietly in my room while I waited to find out if you were okay. He agreed but he and a bunch of other cats came to check on me until you and Chase showed up." Gizmo added with another sigh.

"I'm sorry Gizzie, I didn't mean for you to worry about me so much that it interrupted your training. I'm fine now, really I am." Her Father said, looking extremely embarrassed at first but then trying to reassure her.

"You're not though, neither you or Chase are okay right now. You're both thinking about what Shadow said and it's making you both act weird." Gizmo said in a matter of fact way, stunning both Chase and Jack.

"You know what I think, I think you both need to get out of this big scary lair for a while so you don't have to think about Shadow for a few days. We could go visit Grandma Spicer or Grandma Othello and Uncle Max, none of them have seen us in two years and it would be nice to let them see us and meet Chase." Gizmo added before either man could recover.

"Gizmo we can't just leave, Chase has things to do and we'd be skipping a lot of training; besides I'm sure Chase doesn't want to meet..." Her Father started to protest in embarrassment but got interrupted.

"Actually I don't have any pressing duties that need attending to for a while, my cats could look after the lair while we were away, and honestly it would be nice to meet your family members." Chase said in a surprisingly serious sounding way.

"As for missing training there's no reason we couldn't still do so while visiting your family, I am the one teaching you after all Jack and if I allow Hera to keep her human form there's no reason she couldn't come with to continue tutoring Gizmo while we're away." Chase added when her Father looked at him stunned.

"See Daddy, Chase wants to go too! You should call everyone and tell them we'll be visiting; then we can leave tomorrow!" Gizmo said in an extremely excited way.

"Whoa now calm down sweetheart, I'll definitely call everyone tonight but there's no guarantee that they'll answer; and even if they do this is all very last minute... so I highly doubt all of them will be able to see us by tomorrow." Her Father said, not wanting to ruin her excitement but also not wanting her to get her hopes up.

"You need to be more optimistic Daddy, once they hear that you want to see them and that you're bringing special guests with I just know they'll say we should come over right away!" Gizmo said enthusiastically.

"Still since it's so late you probably hurry and call them all before they go to bed!" Gizmo added in a more serious way.

"You're right Gizzie, it is late; speaking of which I think it's time we get you cleaned up and get you tucked into bed." Her Father said in a sweet way, clearly also trying to change the subject.

"Chase can escort me back to my room, then I can go take a quick shower and get my pajamas on all by myself like a big girl so you can call everyone." Gizmo said in a happy but stern way, knowing that her father was stalling for time.

"You want me to escort you to your room?" Chase asked in surprise before Her Father could say anything.

"Yes please, if Daddy does it then by the time he's able to call everyone it'll be super late and we probably won't be able to leave tomorrow." Gizmo said, giving Chase her biggest puppy dog eyes and hoping that it would work.

"Oh very well, I suppose it won't hurt for me to take you." Chase said, looking away ever so slightly in an attempt to pretend the puppy dog eyes were not working on him.

"Great, well let's get going! Daddy you have people to call so try to hurry so you can come tuck me in." Gizmo said cheerfully, leaping off her chair and heading for the dinning hall door before anyone could say anything.

Of course Chase very quickly had to follow after her seeing as he had said he would escort her to her room, once they were out in the hallway Gizmo was quick to grab his hand and squeeze it tightly; doing so prevent Chase from changing his mind and turning back and it also amused her because he hadn't expected it.

"You can wait in my room if you like; I'll take my pajamas in with me to the bathroom, take a quick shower, and I can read you a story while we wait for my Daddy." Gizmo said in a pleading way, once again giving puppy dog eyes, as they very quickly reached her bedroom door.

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt for me to wait with you. Still, shouldn't it be I who reads you a story?" Chase said, allowing himself to be led inside the room but also giving Gizmo a questioning look.

"Well if you're volunteering to read to me that would be even better! Thank you Chase, I'll see you when I'm done with my shower!" Gizmo said in an extremely enthusiastic way, quickly grabbing her pajamas from her bed and rushing into the bathroom before Chase could say a word.

It was all Gizmo could do to keep herself from laughing as she heard Chase mutter out loud something about her being a clever trickster as she started the shower, it was true that she had purposely baited him into offering to read to her and she was very proud that it had worked. She was quick to wash her hair and body; she then quickly dried off in hopes that Chase hadn't decided to leave after all.

"That wasn't a very long shower young lady?" Chase scolded as she came out of the bathroom making Gizmo almost smile at the sight of Chase but quickly stopping herself.

"I'm sorry, I'm just excited to have you read me a story." Gizmo said, pretending to pout as he scolded her.

"I suppose it can't be helped, regardless you should at least grab your towel and wrap your hair in it so it will dry more while I read to you." Chase advised with a sigh.

"Okay I can do that!" Gizmo said more cheerfully before obediently grabbing her towel and trying to wrap her hair in it.

"Here, come over to me and I'll help you." Chase said when he saw she was having trouble.

"Thank you Chase." Gizmo said in a genuinely grateful way as he wrapped her hair up for her.

"You're welcome, now come sit by me and we'll start reading." Chase said looking embarrassed by her thanks but quickly lifted her up onto the bed.

It was the first time she had been this close to Chase before and though she wasn't sure how he would react to it she plopped her head against his side and waited for him to start, she was pleased when he didn't move her despite being surprised by her actions and smiled a bit as he pretended not to notice her snuggling even more against him as he started to read.

The book he'd chosen was one of the fairy tale books she'd had read to her many times before, she secretly wished she had more interesting story books for him to read to her because he had a nice reading voice; unfortunately all of her books were for normal kids her age and she found herself drifting to sleep against him out of boredom.

"You're falling asleep on me." Chase said suddenly, snapping Gizmo out of it slightly.

"Sorry, you read so nice; but the book is boring." Gizmo said apologetically as she took her head off of Chase's side in case he was getting annoyed.

"Yes I'd have to agree with that, we will have to find better books for you sometime soon." Chase said, sounding oddly determined for some reason.

"That would be nice." Gizmo said with a nodding in agreement, feeling herself start to tip over slightly back into Chase's side but catching herself before she could.

"It's alright Gizmo, you may lay against me if you're tired." Chase said in a calm and accepting way.

"Thank you." Gizmo said gratefully, before doing just that.

Her head had barely rested against him when once again her eyelids fluttered closed, she wanted to wait to fall fully asleep so that her Father could tuck her in but Chase was surprisingly comfortable and that was making things hard. Thankfully right she felt she would lose her battle to sleep when she heard her Father's voice in the room.

"Sorry it took so long too, My mother and Mother in law were so excited to hear that we wanted..." Her Father had started to say with an apologetic sigh when suddenly he stopped.

"She was tired so I allowed her to rest on me. I think she fell asleep." Gizmo heard Chase explain in a clearly embarrassed way.

"You are so lucky I don't have a camera with me, Chase Young letting a child cuddle against him... not a sight I ever thought I'd see." Her Father teased, not realizing that she was awake enough to hear him.

"Yes well, I think I am growing fond of her; a good thing if I'm going to decide if I'm actually in love with you as I think I am." Chase said in a half teasing and half serious way, intriguing Gizmo with the last words he had said.

"As for the camera, I am glad you do not have one as I would have to destroy any evidence of myself showing kindness; which would be a shame honestly." Chase added in a much more teasing way this time.

"Well I hate to break it to you but when we go see my Mother tomorrow she'll take a lot of pictures of you and Gizmo if she gets the chance; and if you think for one minute she'll let you destroy them then you don't know my Mother." Her Father teased Chase back, though being serious at the same time.

"So we will be leaving tomorrow then? What about your wife's family, will we be seeing them too?" Chase said in a curious way.

"Yeah we'll be seeing them, my Mother said it would be safer for them to stay at her house since my monster of a Father in law is still looking for my Mother and brother in law. We'll be staying with her and them for two weeks, and that doesn't include the time we get there... my Mother expects us there for no less than two weeks." Her Father informed Chase, causing Gizmo to almost smile, though she stopped herself as to not give away that she was still ever so slightly awake.

"Hey you should be grateful I was able to convince her that we could only stay two weeks; I was able to convince her by saying you were a very important business partner who had other obligations in two weeks." Her Father added when Chase apparently gave him a strange look.

"I suppose two weeks isn't so bad, getting to meet your family will be nice; I promise to be on my best behavior and will make sure Hera behaves as well." Chase said in what was an almost nervous sounding tone.

"You'll do just fine you'll see, besides; this will give you a chance to get to me and my family better." Her Father said in a kind and reassuring way.

"Yes, that will be nice; I look forward to it." Chases said in a genuinely interested sounding way.

"In any case we should probably all be heading to bed, I have a feeling Gizmo here will be wanting us to leave as early as possible." Chase said, gently maneuvering Gizmo's head so it was off his side and onto her pillow.

"Goodnight Chase, we'll see you in the morning." Her Father said kindly as Gizmo felt Chase get off the bed.

"Good night Jack, and goodnight you too Gizmo; even if you are already asleep and can't hear me. I will see you both in the morning." Chase said bidding them both good night before leaving the room.

Gizmo wanted to say good night to Chase back but seeing as how he and her father already thought she was long since asleep she didn't move at all, as her father tucked her in and kissed her goodnight she couldn't help but allow a few last minute thoughts to pop into her head.

"So my two princes don't know for sure if it's really love they feel for each other huh? Well lucky for them I'm here, I'll make sure that they realize it's love and become two happy kings together; and I'll get both of my Grandmothers to help me if I have to." Gizmo thought to herself happily before finally drifting completely off to sleep.
