Dan Lewis thought he was in some kind of bad romantic comedy without a laugh track. Being aboard the Tardis just made it own without a laugh track or hint of if or when either of the apparent significant others would take the plunge. He spent too much time in his opinion walking from either end of the ship to see how his two friends were doing everything to avoid the obvious.

"Anything you need, Doc?"

"No, I'm good. Thanks, Dan." The Doctor said, goggles on her face while she tinkered with odd little mechanisms he had no prayer of guessing their purpose. His time-space-everywhere-traveling buddy made no attempt to look up from the work and so he casually took himself to his other friend.

"Hey, Ya—"

"Busy." Yasmin 'Yaz' Khan bluntly snapped out while eyeing her phone. He never saw someone fiddling on buttons with such murderous conviction. Despite the golden crystalline structure, hints of blue squares along the walls, and entrenched darkness, he could clearly see both women. Actively avoiding feelings known yet doing their pretending always with each other in line of sight. There was nothing for a man Liverpool to do but stew in the simmering tension, knowing quite well the Doctor would ignore him and Yaz might definitely smack him should he try playing cupid.

On New Years Eve, he got a clear understanding for yaz's feelings. While his Blonde friend tried to be aloof, they were surprisingly close when looking up at the fireworks. Most of his time with pirates had been away from each other. While neither had explained, Dan believed the two were now on even footing with knowing the other's feelings. Seeing them even prompted a consideration of his own love life, one phone call gave him hope for the future. But gratitude to two chaotic women kept him tethered to the Tardis. He feared leaving, believing they would never truly connect and their bond would spoil until any possible spark of joy was stomped out in reluctant pining.

The universe, and Dan especially, owed this two everything, so it seemed more than fair to find a way to help.

"Hey, Doc, I want to pick up something."

The ladies finally both noticed something besides their own longing.

The Doctor got up from her worktable, goggles still on her head. Yaz remained seated near the Tardis control console.

"What do you have in mind?"

"Well," Dan began, rubbing his head. "You remember Diane?"

"Yeah, that woman from the museum," Yaz gave them a patrial glance while the Doctor became more excited. "Wait, have you called her?" The Doctor's enthusiasm made him smile.

"We got a date Friday."

The Doctor cheered, bringing Dan into the tightest hug he ever felt in his life. Yaz smiled softly with sad eyes. The Timelord's embrace quickly shifted as she suddenly held him at arms-length.

"Wait, what are you doing here then? You better not be getting cold feet. It's never wise to play ignorant when others feelings are on the line."

Dan wondered if the Doctor noticed how badly Yaz looked eager to rip off the console and throw it.

"Well that's just the thing. My feelings are clear but I want to find something that shows how grateful I am for the chance. No shop on Earth has been helpful…so."

The Doctor looked at him shrewdly.

"Daniel Lewis," she said firmly. "Are you asking me to help procure a 'gift' from another world? Knowing the slightest exposure to cultures beyond your stars could irrevocably alter humanities very destiny forever?"

"W-Well," Dan gulped. "Maybe something not too ris—"

"Say no more," the Doctor smiled while happily slapping his shoulders. The she steered them towards the control console. Yaz quickly stepped away, desperate to avoid contact.

"I know the perfect place, very romantic, we can definitely find something for Diane."

"Really, What about that whole altering history thing?"

"True," the Doctor yanked off her goggles. She tossed them smoothly onto her worktable while looking at Dan with blazing excitement known too well. "But there's no harm visiting a gift shop."

Some quick buttons pressed, knobs rolled, and then with one final pull of the lever the whole ship came alive. Lights flashed while crystal pillars of lights illuminated their dark paths ahead. Wherever they landed would hopefully be a good place for all kinds of romantic possibilities.

But Dan Lewis knew… traveling with the Doctor meant danger may be there too.
