CHAPTER 6

(TARA'S P.O.V)

I pulled up into Mario's driveway 7:30am with a surprise breakfast, as a thank you for all his help when I was down. I headed towards his front door with a breakfast basket, and I spotted Mario in the backyard. I sauntered towards the backyard now, as I watched Mario in the middle of the yard move in a circular slow manner, as I watched him practice Taichi. His movements were fluid and graceful. I could see him breathing deeply, as he was in deep mental concentration. I sat on his fancy Coco Wolf Bespoke Luxury Patio chair quietly. His back was turned to me, while I put the breakfast basket on the table. His movements finally made him turn around. He immediately stopped surprised to see me at this hour. "Morning Tara," he said cheerfully, as he sauntered over to me. "What's up?." "Thought I surprised you with a thank you breakfast," I smiled as he sat down. We both fell silent after a moment, as I began to take out the food.

I handed him a plate of pancakes, freshly baked croissants, boiled eggs, fried bacon and a large fruit bowl made up of strawberries and blueberries, as he silently stared at me. "I'm sorry about Eggs it must have been hard…"

Mario sympathized . "It's still hard…" I said staring sadly at my food. I deliberately didn't tell Mario about Eggs, because I wasn't ready to explain my feelings to him. It meant I had to open up all over again, after I ranted and raved at Merlotte's bar about Eggs not deserving to die. I wasn't ready to feel so angry and bitter all over again. I was past those emotions now, and all I felt was a deep sadness when it came to Eggs. I suddenly felt two strong arms wrap around me from behind. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn't seen Mario get up from his seat to embrace me. I clutched onto him, as he continued to silently hug me. No words needed to be said to one another, because we each knew how we felt about my situation. Eggs was gone, and I needed to learn how to move on from him whether I liked it or not…

(SOOKIE'S P.O.V)

The next day at 9:00am I went to Merlotte's to do my morning shift. "Morning Sook," Lafayette greeted me, as I approached ready to pick up the orders. "Any luck in finding the silver dagger?." "I don't even know where to begin to look," I sighed about to pick up my orders when Holly suddenly appeared. "Sorry to eavesdrop on ya'll conversation."Holly explained. "But I think I have what you're looking for Sookie." "How'd you manage to find it?," I inquired, surprised at this new info. "You have Adilyn to thank for that. Our dog Buddy for some reason dug it up at midnight yesterday, and Adilyn brought it to me. We didn't know why it was buried in our yard, so I promised to look it up to see if it was supernatural, and boy you won't believe the surprise I got when I did some research in my spell books." Lafayette and I leaned closer, gesturing silently that we wanted to learn more. "The silver dagger was made by a powerful witch, by the name of Maria Gobervich who lived a century ago. Who was 100% supernatural, and she created the dagger as an enchanted object to grant wishes." "Shut the fuck up," Lafayette whispered in disbelief. "It gets even more twisted," Holly continued. "The silver dagger can't grant wishes to just anyone. Only full blood supernaturals though, but for us normal humans we can't use it. Sookie, if the dagger falls into the wrong hands, Bon Temp would be doomed," Holly shook me by the shoulders in fear. "So I put it into my bag, because I didn't want my step daughters or sons tampering with it. Since I was unsure what to do with it." "Holly I need that dagger," I beseeched her. "My fairy family desperately needs it, and they have asked me to search for it."

"I'm gonna go get my purse," Holly said to me, while I continued to wait with Lafayette. "Sook, why does it seem that the supernatural subhuman or enchanted object, always seem to make a 180 heading straight for Bon Temp?,"Lafayette asked me. "Who knows," I shrugged, not sure myself. "Maybe… Bon Temp has a lot more dark secrets than we realized." "It's not in my purse!," Holly announced in fear, suddenly appearing. "What do you mean it's not there," I said to her in fear as well. "I- I was in a rush this morning to get to work, and I thought I had put it in my purse. Let's just go to my house and retrieve it. I must have left it on the coffee table."

"Lafayette tell Sam we had an emergency and we will be right back," I said to Lafayette, while I glanced at Sam's office. "Sure. Just find the dagger before some twisted motherfucker finds it first." Lafayette beseeched as I could see the worried look in his eyes.

We burst through the front door, as Holly immediately made a beeline for the living room. I quickly followed her to see Holly just staring at the empty coffee table dumbfoundedly. "I left it right here," Holly whispered in fear. "Come on, let's just take a look around," I tried pulling Holly's right arm. "You probably thought you did-" I began to say. "No," she resisted me pulling her arm away. "I"m sure I packed my purse here this morning, and it was on the coffee table, along with the spell books. I admit I probably forgot to put it in my purse, but it was left here." She said facing me now. "Which means one of my family members picked it up…"
