Ok, this is something sweet I'll put out here just this one time (ok not really that's a lie) but that's it!

Toki woke up immediately from the light being turned on. Rubbing his eyes, he squinted and saw Melody's face come into focus.

"Melodys!" He said in a sleepy tone, "You ams back. Yous okay?"

Melody shrugged and rolled her eyes before silence fell in the room and for some reason as Melody made eye contact with Toki she notice how the blue color in his eyes showed great concern for her.

Genuine concern.

In a few seconds, Melody thought about all the beatings, the neglect, the tired and cynical look on Vincent's face, the fact she was almost separated entirely from her friends, and how she felt like nobody could understand how she was really feeling.

"I just want this to end." She thought.

"What is the point?" Melody whispered as she began to weep in front of Toki.

Seeing Melody suddenly distraught made him stand up to take Melody by her hands before she started to full-on sob. All Toki knew to do at that point was to bring her to his chest as she cried into his shirt. He thought maybe Dick or the rest of the band said something to upset her before she went up to her room.

In between chokes of breath, Melody whimpered, "I don't want to be here anymore Toki. I'm really tired of this shit. I wish Charles never reached out to me. I wished I would've died years ago. I can't take this anymore. I just want to be normal."

Toki patted her on her head and back as he listened to the sweet girl cry. He didn't care if she got her makeup, eye glitter, and snot all over him. Toki held her close as he allowed her to talk about her feelings to him. He had wondered about how she was really feeling ever since she arrived. But now it seemed like Melody couldn't help but have a breakdown. He knew in his heart Charles was being too harsh as well as allowing others to be strict with Melody by watching over her so much.

"Melodys," Toki said softly while rubbing her back, "Let me tells you somethings."

Melody inhaled a shaky breath and nodded.

"I knows what it's ams likes to feel this ways. But please, donts forgets I ams here fors yous." Toki said as he started to wipe the tears from Melody's face. He brushed her hair back and then cupped her face.

Looking into her warm eyes, Toki repeated himself more assertively, "I promises to yous to protects yous. I ams always to be a friend to yous. I was likes yous Melodys, feelings losts and thinking how ams I still here after everythings..." he said as his eyes trailed off and away. A lot of what Toki had uncovered about his childhood really did help him realize just how strong he was for putting up with it. He needed to remind Melody how strong she was.

"Toki," Melody said as she reached around his body, hugging him as her face was still buried in his chest, "Do you think you could wait with me until I fall asleep?"

Toki nodded, he was going to be here for Melody she needed a friend. Wrapping her arms around his neck Toki lifted her up bridal style from the floor. Turning off the light, he then sat down in the bed sitting upright against the headboard as he held Melody in his arms.

Melody rested her head against his shoulder, feeling his strong arms holding her this way made her heart race despite the overwhelming sense of depression she had been feeling for months. She was happy Toki could be here with her...alone.

Smiling slightly, Toki thought he might as well try to lighten the mood, "Yous smells like yous has been drinking young ladys."

Melody chuckled at his tease, "Yeah a whole lot of vodka & beer. Don't worry though I won't vomit on you."

Both held back their laughter as they tried to keep quiet. They kept talking casually about the way Melody had been feeling until two hours later she finally fell asleep. hearing her snore softly against him Toki took it as his queue to leave. Gently, he laid Melody down next to him as Toki quietly got up from her bed. Trying not to make a sound Toki picked up his shoes and walked out of Melody's room. Taking one last look at her peacefully sleeping face he smiled as he closed the door softly, making his way to his quarters across Mordehaus going unnoticed except by the attending klokateers.
