So here the Heroes become truly free from Feral by being emancipated from the collars that give him the ability to track them.
"Question." Arctica said "I have a feeling that we have different definations of what 'slight' pain is. To me a slight pain is I pricked my finger on a thorn while plucking a rose, I have a feeling your defination of slight pain is 'not screaming in agony' and that would be you wouldn't scream in agony but some of us are a little more sensitive."
The old man raised an eyebrow and Arctica realized she had just revealed she had come from a much more privileged and pampered life than most of the Mutant Animals on this world had ever had."
"You're not from around here are you?" The old man said
Her ears folded back in embarresment Arctica said "Well...What do you think 'not from around here' means?"
"Eh, doesn't matter." The old man said with a wave of his hand "Just like Feral doesn't care where you're from if you're not human, you're fair game to him, it also doesn't matter to me cuz I'm gonna help you either way."
"Can I go first?" Arctica asked "The reason I'm asking that is well..The pain might cause my wolf instincts to...Get snappy...I want Don to hold me down while you operate to prevent me from biting or clawing and possibly hurting you."
That was probobly a good idea, that Don held her down because the process of unbolting the collar from her neck did cause Arctica to wince severely and Don could see as he held down her head and arms that her lips were pulled back exposing her other teeth, honestly the unbolting was the worst of it as she barely even noticing the sticthing of the two wounds in the back of her neck.
Don was much better at enduring pain and thus didn't need anyone to hold him down while the collar was being unbolted, he just dealt with the pain by clutching the wooden bench he was laying on with both his arms and his teeth.
Afterwards, the old woman gave both of them some chamomile tea to soothe them after the proceedure, Don wasn't too worried about the tea's sopperific effects now that the collars were off and the old man was taking them somewhere far away to dispose of them so Feral would be thrown off the trail, Don felt confident they would leave the hospitable humans's home and find somewhere safe in the forest to rest later that night.
Meanwhile the Turtles were doing their reserch of Feral's mansion, but remembering Don had called them earlier gave them confidence Don had already escaped from Feral's clutches but the reason he couldn't come home was that Fera had...Done something to Don...(Splinter and Leo were beginning to suspect what that was) That gave Don a reason he couldn't come home.
I realize that too often I have ideas for these grand sweeping stories but they fall apart because I have no clue for half the details just the overall idea, I remember learning about the KISS Principle (KISS being short for 'Keep It Simple Stupid!) And I've been realizing over the course of writing this story that I often let my urge to prove how clever and witty an 'artiste' I am cause me to write things I look back with embarressemnt later
