Prompt: Write a story about Heather adjusting to palace life after marrying Smalls.
Dearest Picket,
How are you? I miss you so very much- give my love to Weezie and the little one, whom I am sure is the absolute pride and joy of your life. Summer is in full swing, and I'm sure your crops are keeping you very busy outside. I take advantage of the beautiful weather to go for walks around the city, but still I miss your company.
As you know, Smalls and I have been in the palace in New City for quite some time now. I must confess, it takes getting used to. When I was younger, I would always dream of marrying and starting my own family, but I pictured a life much more humbler than the one I now live. I have servants at my beck and call, and though a queen is not without her duties I feel as though there is too much leisure on my end. Sometimes I feel I envy you with your honest, simple life as a farmer. But I know I wouldn't trade my love for Smalls for all the world, and his calling is to be king. And my place is beside him, though the Green Ember has risen. And may it never fall!
This note was not meant to be long- only to say that I miss you, and hope you are doing well. I would also like to inform you that... whether or not you can believe it... Smalls and I are expecting a little one of our own this coming spring! We don't want everyone to know, as it is still so very early, but I couldn't stand keeping it a secret from you for so long. Everything seems to be going fine so far, and I am doing very well, all things considered. I'm not particularly fond of the morning sickness, but I know for a fact that it will all be worth it in the end. It seems so long ago that we were children playing Starseek. How we have grown and come so far since that day.
The seed of the new world has blossomed. May its flower never fade!
Your loving sister,
Heather Joveson
