Season 1: Episode 3

It wasn't long before word spread throughout the community about Clementine's disappearance, along with Ed and Diana having filed a missing person's report. This naturally led to panic and fear spreading through the community and a lot of people were starting to worry. But it wasn't all fear and panic, some of the more level headed members of the community immediately got to work and rallied the others.

"Alright, so everyone knows where they're searching." One of the search leaders said to the group around him.

Said man was tall with greying black hair with a matching beard and moustache, black eyes and fair skin, his name was Kenny Hammon, a local man who everyone knew well. They all nodded and soon began dispersing to search their appointed areas, they weren't the only party searching of course. The police had an official search going and at least two other local search parties were looking for the missing girl too. It was then that Kenny spotted four girls approaching, Kenny gave a half smirk noting exactly who they were.

"Brody, Violet, Sarah, Becca...thought you'd all be here already?" Kenny remarked. "Or are you running around all the searches to help everywhere?"

The girls just shared a look before Brody replied. "Um, something like that, but we need to figure out where Clem is, she's our friend."

Kenny nodded. "Alright...let's go."

He helped them figure out an area to search and headed to his own assigned area.

Within the Hutchison house, Ed and Diana were sat on the sofa, the phone practically at Diana's elbow. They were frantic, distressed and wished they could be out joining in the searches. But the police had insisted they wait at their home, near the phone in case Clementine phoned or someone with information, or the worst scenario, a kidnapper called.

"Oh God, Ed...this is so…" Diana burst out, voice shaking.

Ed shook his head, holding her. "I know Diana, I know. But you know what the police said, we need to wait here in case the phone goes. It's hard but…"

But that didn't cause any comfort, for either of them. It was then there was a knock at the door, Ed leapt up and hurried over to answer it.

"Ed…"

Ed swallowed. "Lee, I…"

Lee nodded. "I know, I just...I came to help as best I could."

"Thank you, really." Ed replied.

With that Lee was let in the house and they went to join Diana in the living room again. Lee sat down, doing his best to console them.

But he was equally distressed with them. 'This doesn't make sense, how could Clementine just disappear like this, why…?'

But it seemed like there was no answer forthcoming.

Searching the woods, the girls shared a look, they had already checked the area that Kenny directed them too, but now they moved to another area, this one wasn't being searched yet as it was a little out of the way.

"Shouldn't we have checked here first?" Sarah asked anxiously.

Violet sighed. "I'm sorry, we should have yeah, but I only just remembered."

Becca rolled her eyes. "Seriously Vi, you mean we only just remembered."

Brody bit her lip as they approached the rather comfy little home-made hideout the girls had set up back when they first became friends in sixth grade.

"Do you really think Clem would be here?" Brody then asked. "We haven't been here since last year."

"Maybe not, but let's face it, it's one of the places that's not been checked and it has a connection to Clem." Violet added.

The others agreed with that and went to check. Naturally it was empty which left them down, upset. But for Violet, it was especially frantic.

'God, Clem, where are you...urgh, I need to…' She thought frantically, but then was startled when she realized the way her thoughts were going. 'What the hell is this, what am I?'

Grimacing she tried to put her thoughts behind her and they left to resume the search, but to no avail, there didn't seem to be any sign of her, which only added to Ed and Diana's feelings of distress.

They knew each other to a degree, saw each other around town and talked occasionally. But it was rare for Carlos Chaikin, Amy Adlon, Michael and Leanne Burress and David and Sandra Jones to all be together at the same time, despite the friendship shared by their daughters. Yet with the search having gone on for a few days with no result, they had come together to try and help their daughters who were emotionally flagging.

"Girls…"

Reacting to the sound of Amy's voice, the four looked up, a little surprised.

"M-mom…" Violet stammered. "We, we just-"

"We know." David said softly.

Leanne also spoke up. "It's hard, to go so long without any results. But we can't give up."

"But what can we, what can we do?" Becca said sadly.

With a heavy sigh, Carlos added. "People are going to be searching all the time, but you can't make yourself search the whole time. You have to rest, give yourself a chance to recover and then you can try again. If you push yourself too hard…"

He trailed off, but it made sense to them and they, somewhat reluctantly, agreed to take a break, knowing that there were still people looking for Clem at least which gave them some hope.

While heading home to follow her mother's advice and get some rest, Violet stopped, surprised when she saw something unexpected. The house next door to hers had finally been sold and the new family had arrived to move in. The moving van was present and the family were unpacking. She noted three members of the family right away, a tall broad-shouldered man with dark hair and green eyes, fair skinned and a woman, obviously his wife, with red hair and hazel eyes, also fair skinned. The third was a twelve around ten or so, dark skinned with short cut black hair and black eyes and, shockingly, a burn scar on the right side of his face.

'Whoa...okay, wonder what…?' She began thinking when a voice suddenly caught her attention.

"Hey, you must be one of the new neighbours."

She turned to see a rather tall girl approaching her with bright green eyes, fair skin and red hair that hung down to the right, being rather short on the left, she also had a scar through her left eyebrow.

"Um...yeah…" Violet said, eyes wide. "Violet, Violet Adlon."

"Minerva Leigh." The girl introduced herself. "You saw my mom and dad and that's our adopted little brother, Tenn. Oh and this is my sister, Sophie."

She gestured behind her at that, pointing out a girl who was clearly Minerva's twin, the main difference between them being a lack of scar on Sophie's part and Sophie wearing her red hair long. Violet nodded politely but couldn't do much more, struggling to form words due to being startled by Minerva's striking appearance.

"Wait so...she's been missing for days?" Minerva gasped.

Violet bit her lip but nodded. "Yeah…"

Clem was still missing but the girls couldn't join the searches right now, as they had to go to school still. Minerva and Sophie had just started that day and Violet found herself assigned to show the twins around.

"She was, such a great friend." Violet admitted. "Me, Clem, Brody, Sarah, Becca. We're all friends."

"And pretty popular too, based on everything I overheard from others so far." Sophie commented with a soft smile.

Minerva bit her lip, looking uncomfortable. "I guess that's why you were so...spaced out that day we met, and why it's hard for you today, huh?"

Violet sighed but nodded. "Yeah. It's tough...uh, sorry, I should be focused on showing you around."

"No, really, it's okay." Sophie said reassuringly.

Minerva nodded too and they resumed the tour, with Violet dealing with an unfortunate issue, she had a strange conflicted feeling within her which she couldn't make sense of. She did her best to outwardly remain calm however and even sent a reassuring smile at Brody as they passed in the corridor. Brody gave a shaky smile back before looking back at her phone, feeling awkward as she read Marlon's text.

She shook her head and replied. "Please, babe, you're making me uncomfortable. You know I'm not comfortable with that."

She sent the message and took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. Marlon had been so pushy lately, it seemed like he was trying to pressure her into taking the next step of their relationship, but she wasn't ready. She tensed upon hearing her phone buzz and checked Marlon's reply, praying that he would at least understand that.

So it was the end of the school day, with Minerva and Sophie heading straight home, Violet instead met up with Brody and they stood, waiting for Sarah and Becca to join them. They did not have to wait long for soon both Sarah and Becca approached, Sarah looked a little flustered and Becca glowering.

"What happened?" Brody asked at once.

Sarah shuffled her feet. "We um, we nearly ran into Gabe."

"Yeah, he even had his camera with him." Becca groused. "Disgusting perv, no doubt gonna try and take pictures up our skirts."

She tugged on the hem of her denim mini as she said this and the other girls shared sympathetic glances before Violet cleared her throat.

"Okay guys, we need to think, what places could Clem be that we've not searched yet."

That immediately banished the thoughts of Gabe from their minds as they turned whole heartedly to the mystery of Clem's disappearance. But even as they did so, they were unaware that not too far away, a dark car sat, watching them closely.
