Note: This story takes place sometime during Ultimate Alien.

"This is gonna take forever.", Kevin muttered. His car had been damaged in battle yet again, and he'd been spending the past hour giving it a look over. Repairs were going to take a week, at least, and that was only if he spent extra time on it. Of course, there was always the option of sending it to a mechanic and saving himself the effort, but he didn't trust anyone else with his car. With a groan, he slid out from underneath the car and grabbed a water bottle he'd placed on the ground nearby earlier, removing the cap and guzzling almost half its contents.

His mood improved somewhat when he remembered that Gwen was in the garage with him, sitting on a chair. She used one hand to support her head as she dozed off, and she left her French textbook open on her lap. Kevin supposed he should have guessed that she fell asleep when she stopped uttering French phrases to herself. She looked so peaceful, which surprised him, as the position she was in looked rather unpleasant.

He stood up and approached her, lightly shaking her shoulder. "Gwen, wake up."

She furrowed her eyebrows as she stirred awake. She blinked slowly, adjusting to her surroundings. "Mmm?"

"Go inside. Sleep on the couch.", Kevin instructed, bending to meet her gaze.

"No. I wanna be here, with you."

Truth be told, Kevin preferred having her in the room with him too, but not at the cost of her physical comfort. "You're gonna hurt your neck if you keep sleepin' like that."

"No biggie." Gwen was used to far worse pains from the countless battles she'd fought. Being with Kevin was worth having a strained neck for a little while, not to mention she was too exhausted to get up and go inside.

Shaking his head, Kevin straightened his posture and walked into the house. Gwen assumed he gave up trying to convince her and went to make himself a snack. The sound of his footsteps filled the air two minutes later, proving her wrong. He stood in front of her, holding a blue U-shaped neck pillow.

He placed the pillow around her neck, then closed her textbook and put it on the ground. "Lean back."

Gwen did as she was told, sighing contently as she adjusted her body. "Oh, this is better."

"Glad I could help.", he said with a smile.

"How's the car?"

Kevin glanced at the chipped paint, broken windows and various dents on the body of his beloved vehicle. It was a miracle he was even able to bring it home in one piece. "Gonna take a while to fix her."

"You'll figure something out." Gwen squeezed his hand as a form of encouragement. "You always do."

He pressed a kiss to her forehead, evoking a soft giggle from her. "Sleep tight, 'kay?"

"Believe me, I will." She closed her eyes and began to fall into a deep slumber. Kevin watched her for a few seconds before slipping back under his car. Having her support made him feel better about the whole thing.

It was nice to have her around.

Hm... not entirely sure about this one. The idea popped into my head and I decided to do something with it instead of letting it go to waste.
