Asashi was pretty surprised when he had woken up from his sleep so early. "What the? Where the hell am I?" the boy thought as he was no longer in his new apartment but the center of Konoha. "How did I get here? Did I sleepwalk?" was all I could think off, as just then I saw someone jump out of the sky and arrive right in front of me. It was a man, wearing a dark green sleeveless jacket, a long-sleeved dark blue shirt, a blue scarf tied on his neck, and a red band on his left arm.

"Oh hey there. You must be Asashi Hatake, right?" I looked confused how did this person know my name? "I've heard about you, you're here to enter the Ninja World League right? Well, you're in the right place." the man continued as I thought for a second. 'Ninja World League...that sounds familiar.' I thought as the mysterious man continued.

"I'm in charge of teaching you the ropes. The name's Konohamaru Sarutobi. Let me know if there's anything you need, okay?" I looked confused even more since how was this Konohamaru? When I and Kakashi were walking to the apartments I was sure that I saw the boy playing with his friends on the streets.

"Oh sorry, you must be a little flustered. I guess the fact I speak so formally is pretty much a big surprise, so just ignore it if I slip up now and then." Konohamaru said as he blushed slightly due to embarrassment.

"Umm...okay," I replied as I would need to play along with this charade till I knew what exactly was going on. "Ahem. Sorry to cut to the chase, but I'd like to guide you around the village. First, we have the VR Ninjutsu Arena. If you want to participate in the tournament, you'll probably come here a lot. Go ahead and visit the VR Ninjutsu Arena. I'll explain everything once we get there." with that Konohamaru disappeared and I had to find this Ninjutsu Arena. Eventually, I found it, and much to my surprise it was north of where I was standing.

Climbing the stairs, I saw that there was someone up the stairs and much to my surprise, it was Kakashi. He looked older and this time he had two eyes instead of his headband being over his left eye.

"Oh there is, Asashi." the man began "I've been looking for you all morning," he added as just then Konohamaru jumped out of nowhere, to land beside him. "Asashi, meet Lord Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage, and the teacher of our current Hokage. He'll be the one in charge of the VR Ninjutsu Arena during the tournament period." Konohamaru explained

"I'm just helping out a bit," Kakashi added as he scratched the back of his head. "So is this the new tournament participant that I read about in the report?"

"Yup sure is. And I've been put in charge of the guide duties."

"I see. Well, let me quickly explain how the arena works, then. It's pretty simple. You see, our village has developed a VR device. It lets you train anywhere that you want. One of the coolest things about this device is that it also lets you fight with ninja from the past."

'But I am stuck in the past.' I thought.

"Not the real people, of course. They're just 'data,' but it's still real enough to let you experience how strong they truly were." Kakashi finished. "Oh, by the way, the Ninja World League arena is based on some stages from the past. They're from the times when the Sixth and Seventh were still active in the field, and were built to meet the requests of ninja who are serious about competing! Here young ninja can fight serious one-on-one battles on stages based on famous history! Doesn't that just get your blood pumping?" Konohamaru asked as he clenched his fist, tightly.

"It definitely is," I replied

"Well, whether it's pumping or not, you should just give it a try," Kakashi stated as I followed him inside, the place was huge, a giant portal was active on the floor and the place was covered with wires and cords. Kakashi did a couple of things as he activated the device. Before I knew it I and Kakashi were transported into a forest.

I looked around to see that some of the trees had ropes hanging off them, others had scratches embedded into their trunks, and lots of kunai on the floor with some hanging on some branches. "Welcome to the VR training ground that most shinobi come here to use," Kakashi spoke up as he held his blue Icha-Icha book. "If you want to become the strongest, you'll need to learn the basics and not forget them. In this little training exercise, I'll teach you them, that way you have some basic experience as a shinobi." Kakashi explained as he put his book into his back pocket. "Okay, let's start with the basics. We'll start with wall running, try running up that cliff." he began as I looked at him. "You think I'll be able to do that on my first day? Aren't we going to start with a leaf sticking or something?"

Kakashi just chuckled at my question. "You think you'll still be doing those types of easy exercises? If I remember correctly you passed the academy a long time ago and your Jonin sensei had already taught you how to control your chakra. There's no need for us to do that exercise, we're only revising the basics." Kakashi replied as I just nodded, walking up to the wall I just stared at it, as I breathed heavily. 'Here goes...' I thought as I planted my foot and I then felt chakra slowly move to my foot. It felt as if my body was used to this stuff since it came automatically again when I put my left foot on the wall, I was defying gravity since I wasn't falling. 'Well suck me sideways.' was all I could think as I walked up the cliff, till I finally jumped onto the top of the cliff.

"Good, you know how to control your chakra properly, fewer things for me to teach you. Now I'll tell you about chakra jumps. You can use those to jump even farther distances, they are suitable for when your traveling from point A to point B via trees." Kakashi stated as he knelt for a minute till he swooshed into the air, blue light emulated from his feet as he jumped to the other cliff on the other side of the ground.

Following what he did I added chakra to my feet and like clockwork, I hoisted myself high into the air as I leaped from one cliff to the next a moment I felt like I was flying. "When you want to cross a wide valley, that will surely have you underestimate your chakra jump, just use a wire kunai." he handed me a kunai that had a wire tied to its hilt. He demonstrated how to do it, as he jumped into the air, and threw the kunai into the wall it zipped him close enough to stick on the surface. I followed him as I threw the kunai into the wall.

"You can use this as a recovery if it seems you're going to fall off the cliff, so don't forget it, you never know if it will save your life," he added as I landed on the cliff. "All right next, I'm going to teach you how to attack." next thing I knew the man, made a shadow clone as he retreated onto a ridge.

"All right, try attacking your opponent now," Kakashi stated, only problem was. I didn't know how to fight, so how exactly was I going to do this? Like before, it was as if my body had done this before, it fought for me. Pretty shocking to say the least when I leaped into the air, to hit the clone with an axe kick to dispel it.

"Woah...I did not just do that." I muttered as I looked at my body in surprise. 'God damn I know very well in my body I would be able to do that...but then again this isn't my body...it's my character who should I add, is a literal killing machine.' I thought to myself. "Now the key to attacking is to always keep an eye on your opponent." a shadow clone appeared as it threw a kunai at me, only for me to dodge it and retaliate by throwing a shuriken into its eye.

"You see right there if you lost sight of the clone, it would be suicidal. So always keep that in mind. Throwing kunai is a good way to hit faraway enemies and safe." he added as just then a clone appeared far away from the youngster. Taking out kunai he threw them to the clone and with surprise, they all hit their mark.

"Now you'll need to protect your body when your enemy attacks. Do this by guarding." A clone appeared as it tried to hit Asashi with an attack which he easily evaded as he took a few steps back for space. "Guard to withstand your opponent's attacks and create openings." Asashi used this to block the clone's attacks every time they tried to hit him, seeing the opportunity to parry, he deflected the clone's strike attempt only to counter with a knee to the gut and a punch to the jaw, dispelling it as another showed up.

"Guard to withstand your enemy's attacks and create openings," Kakashi stated as the clone rushed me and hit me with a barrage of punches only for it to kick my chest to send me back tumbling. 'Ouch!' I thought as I got up.

"Now you should know that you also can deflect enemy attacks while guarding and don't forget to predict your opponent's moves and dodge when you can." hearing that I took out a kunai and threw it to the clone, who easily dodged it This gave me the chance to run at him as I kicked him in the chest as I got my footing only to hit him with an uppercut to the chin as I added a right overhand to his cheek. When I saw the puff of smoke appear I thought I finally got him but to my surprise, a piece of wood fell to the ground. 'Substitution?!' was all I could think off when Kakashi spoke.

"Remember that you can always just use a Substitution Jutsu when there's no time to block or dodge." as if he was on cue his clone popped out of the ground as it threw a kunai at me, I couldn't dodge and with no options, I prayed to the heavens as I accepted my death since I didn't know how to pull off the Substitution Jutsu. Not to worry about anything since my body came in clutch as it did the jutsu for me. I appeared just behind the clone and well a counterattack was in order. I just stabbed a kunai into its back as it dissipated and Kakashi hummed. "After using the Jutsu, you can take a moment to think and plan your counterattack." he finished.

"Let's continue our training: Ninjutsu. As you probably know, Ninjutsu can be activated by channeling chakra. The effects of each Jutsu widely vary. Some Jutsu is made for dealing with damage while others can be used to impair opponents' abilities or freeze them in place. Finding the Ninjutsu that best fits your fighting style is the key to attaining victory. Take the Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu for example." Kakashi did a couple of hand signs as he gushed out a large number of flames. "It's used by Fire affinity shinobi and it's used by those who are offensive types of Shinobi, then there are defensive type shinobi who use like the Earth Style: Mud Wall Jutsu." he put his hands on the ground as a wall of mud appeared in front of us. "These are all types of different jutsu for different shinobi, so I ask you what type of shinobi are you?"

"I'm more of a balanced type, I want to be that guy who's good at both offense and defense, that way when I don't have a team, I can at least hold my own," I explained as Kakashi kept quiet. "I see...well then I'll teach you a couple of jutsu that I know both offense and defense." I just had a grin as the mere fact of me learning from Kakashi was pretty cool.

I don't know how much time we spent training but what I do is that he taught me at least five Jutsu. Which I hopped will help me along the way.

"Well, that's it for basic training! Only needed us to spend an entire VR year to teach you this stuff but now I think your ready, just don't forget to practice!" Kakashi exclaimed as I looked shocked "A year! We've been in here for a year!" I shouted out my lungs as the man nodded. "Yeah, but don't worry only a couple minutes passed in the real world, like I said this stuff is very powerful and the things it could do to someone who's not a shinobi could make them a legend by only wasting a couple of hours of their life."

I only whistled. "Damn this stuff is powerful," I exclaimed. "Now Asashi, it's time for you to wake up, remember you have to meet with Kakashi soon," Kakashi said as I looked confused. "But you're already here?"

The man just chuckled. "No silly, you in the game. I'm talking about the real Kakashi. I don't know what happened next but what I do know is that I woke up in my apartment, my bed was soaking wet and I was as wet as Niagra Falls.

"Wait to hold up...why am I in my bed? Was I dreaming?" I was confused, to say the least, but I just rolled out of bed and concluded for a fact that it was a dream. My alarm was still ringing like crazy so I kind of bashed it a little just to shut it up since it wasn't helping. Checking the time it was 7:00 AM. 'Huh, I have time.' I thought as I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. After that, I went to the kitchen still in my boxers. And as I was about to open the fridge I heard a knock on my door.

Changing directions I walked to the door as I unlocked it and opened it wide. The sun's light rushed into the room and I was slightly blinded, I had to squint my eyes a bit so that they could adjust. "Asashi?" I cracked my eyes a bit and aimed up to see Kakashi staring down at me.

"Oh hey...' dad' your pretty early." I started as the man looked shaken when I said dad "Oh sorry if me saying dad shook you." I replied as Kakashi just chuckled. "Oh no, it's fine. It might take a while for me to adjust but I'll be okay." Kakashi explained as Asashi nodded. "So like what are you doing here so early?" I asked "Don't you remember I came here to get you for the training." he explained as I looked shocked. "What?! But I thought it was in three hours! I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!" I shouted out when Kakashi kept quiet. I just rushed back to wear some clothes, Kakashi stood still at the door only to crack a smile. 'He was purposefully going to be late for even our training...damn he is my son.' Kakashi thought as three minutes later, I ran out of the room fully dressed with my headband in my hand. We rushed through the village and with the fact it was morning, I was able to take glimpses of people opening their shops and ready to take the day by storm.

When we arrived at the training ground I saw Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura already waiting for us. 'Damn is it me...or does Sakura look kinda nice...the series does her no justice!' I declared since she looked pretty bad, I'm not gonna lie. 'No wonder Naruto had a thing for her.' I thought. "Morning everyone." Kakashi greeted his team who all looked shocked for some reason.

"Kakashi sensei, being on time for the first time? I must be dreaming." Sakura declared. "Hey! It's you from that mission!" Naruto shouted out as he ran up to me. "Are you alright?" the blond asked as I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine," I replied as the bond just sighed. "Hew, I'm relieved." the blond replied.

"Sensei are you going to explain to us, what's going on?" one Sasuke Uchiha asked as he had his hands in his pocket. Kakashi explained and when everyone heard I was his cousin Naruto was shocked, Sakura was surprised and Sasuke...well he didn't care much.

"Alright guys, in today's exercise, we'll be testing Asashi."

"Why is that sensei?" Naruto asked. "The Hokage wants me to report back to him," Kakashi explained. Hearing this Naruto nodded. "Okay then, let's start with Naruto you can go first." the blond nodded as he stood in front of me.

'Wait so we're just going to jump straight into this!' I thought in shock as I was going toe-to-toe with Naruto of all people! Kakashi held up his arm. "Ready...begin!" when he said that Naruto just let out a cry as he charged at me, still my training, I predicted his next move and I caught the glimpse of him winding his fist to throw a haymaker, as he closed the distance I sidestepped out of the way when he let the attack fly, quickly grabbing his hand, I used the fact he was off balance to roll him off my back and throw him to the ground. Naruto just blinked for a couple seconds in surprise till he realised he was pinned to the ground as he couldn't move. "Sorry Naruto but it seems you have lost." Kakashi declared as Naruto looked surprised. "WHAT! But I can still fight sensei!" Naruto whinned as Kakashi replied. "Sorry but, this report needs to get in quick so there's no time for a rematch, if you want one you'll get it later." Kakashi told his student, who was helped up by Asashi.

"Ok, Sasuke you're up." Kakashi stated as Sakura spoke up. "Kakashi sensei, do you really think it's a good idea to make Sasuke-kun fight Asashi? I mean sure he beat Naruto who was one of the top fighters in our class but Sasuke is leagues above Naruto, he was rookie of the year, he's literally the best." Sakura stated. As Naruto felt like he was gut punched. 'Ouch.' was all I could think since Naruto really looked like he felt that. 'Ok, forget the fact I thought you were nice, now your just being an ass.' I thought as Kakashi spoke. "Who knows, you might be surprised." he replied as he watched Sasuke stand in front of Asashi.

The Uchiha watched the first match and to speak the truth he was impressed, to beat Naruto that quick and easy, he had to give him his props. "I must admit, you not bad, it was pretty intruiging to see how you handled the dobe, but don't think that will give you enough confidence to fight me, he was our class's deadlast. That doesn't mean anything, for I'm in a whole league different from him." Sasuke said as I only huffed.

"Huh, don't you start thinking like that Sasuke, even you Sakura. Naruto might one day surprise you all. There's a saying that one of the greatest warriors I have ever watched to fight said to one of his opponents."

"Yeah, and what's that?"

"Even trash can surpass the elite."

"Huh, really? We'll who ever said that must have had a lack of sense of humour, since when the dobe surpasses me, pigs would learn how to fly." Sasuke replied. "Begin!" Kakashi called out as immediately Sasuke pulled out six shuriken as he flung them all to me, the stars left such an ethereal blur, that I wouldn't have seen them in time but luckily, I had a jutsu for these kinds of situations.

Sasuke watched as the shuriken stab me but only to see for a few seconds for me to be replaced by a piece of wood. "Substitution!" Sasuke thought out loud. "Over here!" I shouted out as I kicked Sasuke into the air. Leaping up I thought I was going to take him down with me, but to my shock, he turned into wood as well. "He reversed a Substitution!" I shouted as next thing I knew he was above me and his heel met with my face. Right then and there I blacked out. I was beaten in under ten seconds.
