Chapter 19: The Mutiny

Morning arrived as sunlight shone through the roof of the deck to the crew's quarters. The entire room was filled with snoring and mumbles of the sleeping crew members dreaming away in their hammocks.

Rose was sleeping on a separate hammock, and slowly nodded from her sleep with Artemis curled up on her chest. She glanced up to see Jim sleeping underneath Mr. Snuff. The slug alien was making flatulent sounds as he snored. Then, one of Mr. Snuff's tentacles blew into the boy's face, causing a disgusted Jim to fall out of his hammock.

The auburn-redhead stifled a giggle to not disturb the sleeping crew. "Good morning, Jim," she said, quietly.

"Morning, Rose."

The boy sat up and put on one of his boots. He reached for his other boot, only for it to hop away and look back. Jim sighed as he watched the boot bounce away and hide behind a chest within the crew's pile of things.

"Morph?" Jim said groggily, rubbing the sleep out of his face. He stood up, straightening out his clothes and sluggishly made his way to the pile, leaning over a chest to look for the blob. "Morph, knock it off. It's too early for this."

Then Morph tip-toed out of the pile, flew up in the air, spun around and kicked Jim from behind, hard.

"OW!" Jim yelped, fully awake whipped around. "Hey! Morph!"

Rose laughed so hard from Morph's action, she fell out of her hammock and landed on the floor. Artemis jumped from her sleep with a yelp and glared at the rude awakening.

Then, the blob answered by blowing a raspberry. Morph returned to his original form, grabbed Jim's real boot from the pile, which he hid earlier, and flew around the room.

"Hey, come back here!" Jim yelled, chasing after him.

"Come back here!" the blob repeated.

Morph flew out to the decks with Jim chasing after him. Rose got up from the floor, barefoot, grabbed Artemis, and followed the boy.

On the decks, Morph flew in the air, with Jim jumping off from the top of the stairs. He caught his boot and landed prone on the floor. "Gotcha!"

Morph dove into the grate to hide.

Rose arrived at the stairs and hurried down, kneeling next to Jim. "Where did Morph go?" she asked.

Morph then appeared in front of the teenagers and looked at them.

Jim gave the pink blob a victorious smirk and sighed.

Morph changed himself into a big orange pufferfish and squirted water at Jim and Rose in the face.

"Hey!" Rose laughed, wiping the water from her face.

"That's it, you little squid!" Jim exclaimed thrusting his hand out to catch Morph, only to miss him.

"You little squid! You little squid!" Morph repeated as he turned himself into tiny heads of Jim, popping out from the holes.

Rose giggled at this.

The boy used his boot to hit the heads as if he were playing a game of Wack-a-Mole.

Then, Morph stopped and disappeared.

Jim and Rose looked through the hole of the grate, and couldn't find him.

Jim hopped down the stairs to the dining room, putting on his other boot, and landed at the bottom.

Rose followed him with Artemis perched on her shoulder. The chameleon was ready to give Morph a piece of her mind for disturbing her and her mistress.

The teenagers began to look around for Morph.

"Morph," Rose whispered in a sing-song voice. "Come out, come out wherever you are!"

They looked around until they noticed a barrel ahead of them. Glancing at each other, Jim and Rose peered down and found it full of purple, juicy purps. Then, one purp opened its' eye and saw the teens, there was Morph. He quickly camouflaged himself back into a purp.

"Ha! Busted!" Jim exclaimed. He jumped into the barrel and caught Morph.

The girl giggled as she looked down at Jim. Then the boy noticed her, took her hand and smirkingly pulled her in.

The auburn-redhead yelped as she landed in the purps, which was quite tight for them both to fit in. Jim and Rose looked at each other and began to laugh. The boy caught Morph and tickled him in his palm.

Rose held Artemis with her own hand and stroked her.

The two teens were busying playing with their own pets, that they didn't hear the crew walking into the galley until voices spoke up.

"Look, what we're saying is we're sick of all this waiting!" Bird Brain Mary said, frustrated.

Hearing the voices of the crew alarmed Jim and Rose. They quietly looked through a hole in the barrel to see them discussing something.

"There's only four of 'em left," Hands said.

"Ve are vanting to move!" Meltdown added.

"We don't move 'til we have the treasure in hand!" A familiar voice said, with a robotic arm in view.

Jim and Rose glanced at each other and back at the hole in disbelief. Were the entire crew and Silver, pirates?

"Mr. Silver?" whispered Rose.

"Shh," Jim shushed her.

"I say we kill 'em all now!" Scroop suggested.

Silver yanked Scroop by the face roughly and growled, "I say what's to say!" The cyborg held the spiden by the throat. "Disobey my orders again like that stunt ya pull with Mr. Arrow. And so help me… YOU'LL BE JOINING HIM!"

Silver threw Scroop on the barrel the teens were hiding in, almost tipping them out.

Jim was slammed against the inside, hitting his head. Rose clamped her hands over her mouth to smother her scream from the impact. Morph gave a quiet yelp and attempted to fly out, only for Jim to catch him in his palms. After a few seconds from the impact, the girl regained her senses and her eyes widened in absolute horror and realization.

It was Scroop who killed Mr. Arrow! And He knew about it and didn't tell me or Jim? She thought, with dread filling in her heart.

Despite the hard throw, Scroop got up to his legs, and retained his glare at the cyborg.

"Strong talk, but I know otherwise," Scroop reached his hand into the barrel.

The teens backed away to avoid being touched and discovered.

Artemis turned a crimson red and glared at the arm; Rose covered her chameleon with her hands to prevent her pet from giving them away. The girl's heart paced faster in her chest, beads of sweat formed on her forehead, and she swallowed the nervous lump in her throat.

She quickly glanced at Jim, seeing him holding Morph in his hand and that he, too, was frightened. The boy picked up a purp, and obliviously handed it to Scroop.

The spiden didn't notice the fruit being given to him, as he kept his gaze at the ursid.

"You got something to say Scroop?"

"It'sss those kids," Scroop hissed with an evil smile, causing the expression on Silver to change from anger to shock. "Me thinks you have a soft…" the spiden's claw punctured through the purp, squirting out juice as if it were blood. "Spot for them."

The crew stared at Silver and murmured in agreement with Scroop.

"Now mark me," the cyborg said, before he glanced at the crew, snapping, "The lot of ya!" He turned back to Scroop holding up a metal finger. "I care about one t'ing and one t'ing only, Flint's trove! You think I'd risk it all for the sake of some nose-wiping little whelp and cowardly redhead runt?"

Jim's expression of betrayal turned to hurt, as if he were stabbed in the back. Rose held in stuttering breaths and tears were threatening to leak from her eyes. After all this time, they've spent with Silver, and everything he ever said to them were lies.

"What was it now?" Scroop asked, before mocking the cyborg. "Oh, you got the makings of greatness in ya!"

"Shut yer yap!" Silver snapped. "I cozied up to those kids to keep 'em off our scent. But I ain't gone soft!"

"Planet ho!" A voice called from above.

Silver, Scroop, and the others looked up, and grew excited.

Jim and Rose were still in the barrel, distraught over Silver's betrayal on them. They didn't even notice Morph slip out from the boy's hands to join his master.

Up on the decks, Onus was up in the crow's nest pointing towards something with excitement. "There it is! Feast eyes and click heels if you got 'em!" He called.

The crew went to the sides of the railings to look at the view in excitement. Silver pushed one member away as he leaned over to have a better look and an amazed smile grew on his face.

Ahead of them was Treasure Planet! They were finally here!

Wanting to have a better closeup, Silver reached his cyborg hand to his coat pocket to pull out his telescope, only to discover it wasn't there.

"Where de devil's me glass?" He asked himself.

Silver's telescope was on one of the tables back in the galley.

Jim climbed out of the barrel, and Rose stood up. The boy picked her up by the waist and set her down on her feet. The two stumbled for a bit and regained their balance by leaning on one of the tables, slightly knocking off the telescope.

Artemis stood perched on her mistress's shoulder and curled by her neck.

"I don't believe it," Rose said.

Jim regained his senses and took Rose by her hand, gripping it firmly. "Come on. We've gotta warn the Captain and the Doc," he said.

Rose put on a straight face and nodded. With that, the brunette boy and auburn-redhead girl began to run, hoping to make it to the Captain's stateroom, before any pirate could catch them.

As they hurried up the stairs, a large figure appeared and blocked their way, making the two halt and gasp.

It was Silver.

"Jimbo. Rosie," the ursid said, surprised. He realized that Jim and Rose have overheard his discussion with the pirates. Silver looked both ways to see if he was watched and approached the teens.

The two backed away, with a fearful Rose hiding behind Jim.

"Playing games, are we?" Silver asked.

"Yeah," Jim responded, glaring at the cyborg. "Yeah, we're playing games."

The boy pushed the girl behind his back to protect her from the cyborg. Rose trembled as her lumbar was pressed against the edge of the table. Artemis crawled up to the top of her mistress's head, all bright red and hissed.

"Oh, I see," Silver rubbed his chin. "Well, I was never much good at games." He put his arms behind his back as his robotic arm turned from a hand to a gun with the sound of a 'click'. "Always hated to lose."

The girl gave a small gasp, realizing that Silver was about to kill them.

Jim slowly took Rose by his left hand, and reached for something with his right hand behind his back.

Her turquoise irises glanced over to see a small knife next to a coffee mug.

"Hmm…" the boy responded, grabbing the knife. "Me too!"

Jim sprinted forward and stabbed Silver in the pump of his robotic leg, causing air to hiss out. The teens raced up the staircase, with Jim gripping onto Rose's hand as she hurried out with him.

"AAAH!" the cyborg yelped from the stab and fell to his knees.

Aside from the leg injury, Silver used his hands to climb up the stairs until he reached the top. He used his robotic eye, which had turned red, to scan the decks, first seeing the crew, and turned back to see Jim, Rose, Artemis, and Morph running towards the Captain's stateroom. Jim shoved the girl and chameleon in first, and slammed the door shut, locking it with Morph flying in.

"Ohh. Blast it all!" Silver got up, holding onto his leg and blew into a whistle. Hearing the sound, the crew turned around and saw the cyborg, changing his metal hand to a large sword, and shouted, "Change in plan, lads! We move NOW!"

They all cheered and moved forward with the mutiny.

"Strike our colors, Mr. Onus,"

"With pleasure, Captain!" the six-eyed alien slug saluted and lowered the Royal Navy flag. Hands broke through a door, went into the room, and pulled out a bunch of guns. The crew cheered and with their weapons made their way to the Captain's stateroom.

Silver stood by with the pirate flag raising above him with an evil smile on his face.
