Chapter 4: Discipline
The doorbell rang. Jotaro Kujo watched as Kaguya walked off to go answer it. Across from him sat a girl he had learned was named Ai Hayasaka. Apparently, Ai functioned as a catch-all for Kaguya's affairs, serving as maid, bodyguard, and, as Jotaro had quickly pieced together, friend, though neither would admit it. The girl was still in shock after what she was told by Kaguya, but after a demonstration of Kaguya's stand, she had no choice but to believe it.
"I thought you were the maid? Why is Kaguya answering the door?" Jotaro gruffly asked. He didn't actually care who opened the door, rather, he was testing how far this girl could be pushed. Jotaro had enough trouble with stand users between Egypt and Morioh to develop a healthy paranoia, even when in an alternate universe.
Hayasaka looked up. "Lady Kaguya always has to make a scene, doesn't she? I'm sure she's not going to just invite Shirogane into the house, despite inviting him. Instead, they have to play some type of ridiculous mental game to get anything done," Hayasaka stated in an exasperated tone, "I suppose I better go change now. After all, Shirogane knows me as Haysaca, not Hayasaka. It would be a pain if anyone at school found out what I do."
And with that, Hayasaka walked off. 'I almost forgot how ridiculous rich people are. It's a good thing the old man doesn't lean into this type of lifestyle,' Jotaro thought. His mind wandered to his grandfather, Joseph Joestar. 'The old man is somewhere here too, seeing as how he was with us at Rohan's. I need to find him soon. Who knows the kind of trouble that senile windbag can get into.'
With that final thought, Jotaro looked back over his shoulder, hearing the sound of people approaching. Walking besides Kaguya was blonde boy with strikingly tired looking eyes and a gold chain across the chest of his uniform. And trailing just behind them was… Josuke Higashikata!
'Well, that's one less person I need to think about,' Jotaro thought.
"I take it this is Jotaro Kujo?" the blonde headed boy said.
"Yes. Jotaro, meet Miyuki Shirogane, President of Shuchiin's student council," Kaguya said, introducing Shirogane.
"Student council president!? Man, not only do you have a girl's name, but you're a nerd!?" Josuke exclaimed, laughing wildly. Jotaro smirked. He had forgotten how much Josuke reminded him of himself, despite Josuke being more open and personable than Jotaro had been in his high school years.
Shirogane smiled sheepishly, but Kaguya glared at Josuke indignantly. "Well at least he doesn't look like a forty-year-old delinquent reliving the glory days! I mean, look at that- "
Shirogane clamped a hand over Kaguya's mouth. He obviously had experienced Josuke's wrath firsthand, and knew how to protect Kaguya, as both he and Jotaro predicted Kaguya's next line would be about his hair.
"Don't mind her, Josuke. She can be a little sensitive about the Student Council sometimes, being the Vice President and all." Shirogane told Josuke.
Josuke chuckled. "We can all be a little sensitive about something, can't we?"
Shirogane removed his hand from Kaguya's mouth. Kaguya, who looked like she was in pure bliss when his hand was on her mouth, calmed down once it was removed. She obviously didn't want to show any emotions. Jotaro had caught it, but Shirogane hadn't.
"Let's get to business," Jotaro said, "First off, Shirogane, do you have a stand?"
"Yes sir," answered Shirogane.
"Alright. Was there anyone else who you know could have gotten a stand? Where did you last see the corpse?"
Shirogane stopped. He didn't know anything about a corpse. What had happened was, he went to go see Kaguya in the infirmary after learning about her sickness from a student in the hallway before getting to the Student Council room. When he was there, he touched her cheek, and an electric spark shot out of her skin, making him feel sick too. So, he ran off to puke in a trash can, and after much deliberation in the bathroom, he decided to go home. But he couldn't let Kaguya know he cared enough to come and see her in the infirmary! The thought of what she would think horrified him! The echo of those two cursed words echoed through his mind.
"Where did you get your stand, Shinomiya?" he asked, hoping to sus out the location of the corpse to make a convincing lie.
"In the student council room," Kaguya answered, "Iino was there with me, but I never saw Fujiwara or Ishigami."
"Well, that's where I got mine too. Iino was already gone by that point, and I didn't see Fujiwara or Ishigami either," Shirogane lied.
Kaguya and Josuke nodded, believing him. Jotaro just stared. He knew he was lying, but he decided not to push it. He guessed it was for petty reasons he didn't want to get into at the moment. At that moment, Ai Hayasaka walked back into the room, this time wearing much a much drabber version of her maid outfit, topped off with her hair let down from the normal ponytail off to the side.
"Lady Kaguya, I thought only President Shirogane would be attending this little get together. Who is that next to him?" Haysaka asked.
"Ah, I suppose I haven't introduced myself," Josuke said politely, "my name is Josuke Higashikata. I'm Jotaro's uncle."
Hayasaka, Kaguya, and Shirogane all looked at Josuke confusedly, to which he simply replied "Our family is a little bizarre."
"Anyways," started Jotaro, hoping to get back to business, "we know for sure this Iino came into contact with the corpse, and potentially these Fujiwara and Ishigami people. The best course of action to start with is to find Iino and see if they know if Fujiwara or Ishigami were affected. After that, Josuke and I will need to find the others from Morioh. Akira Otoishi is a top priority right now, seeing as how there is seemingly more devices running on electricity in this universe, and he could very well be up to his old tricks."
Suddenly, a strange Stand phased through the wall of the Shinomiya estate. It was a robotic looking Stand, mainly red, with yellow and blue highlights, and strange symbols covering it's body.
"You!" it shouted, pointing at the group, "You're violating the laws of this universe! Of nature! For defying such high powers, you are all guilty! Now to straighten you out with my stand, Discipline!"
The Stand then began an attack rush on Josuke, just as he summoned Crazy Diamond to defend himself. Crazy Diamond shielded against the flurry of punches with his arms, then moved to perform it's own attack, but a ghostly outline of Crazy Diamond's fists emerged from the central symbol on Discipline's chest, performing an attack rush on the now open opponent.
Josuke grunted as a hole opened up in his chest where the ghostly mirage of Crazy Diamond's fist hit him.
"Josuke!" Jotaro cried.
Blood spurted from Josuke's mouth, and he grunted. "So, it can reflect attacks, huh? Let's see what else it can do!"
Crazy Diamond sent another punch directly at Discipline, and just as before, a ghostly mirage of Crazy Diamond's fist appeared and shot back at Josuke. But instead of hurting him even more, the fist healed all of Josuke's wounds, the blood flying up from the floor and back into his body.
"So that's how it feels. Weird…" Josuke commented, looking down at his body, taking in the sensation of Crazy Diamond's restoration.
Jotaro breathed a sigh of relief. His uncle truly had grown so much as a stand user in the short time he knew him. When they first met, Josuke never would have been able to use his ability so creatively, but now he was able to think of solutions to strange situations on the fly.
Discipline also seemed impressed. "Using your restoration on me in order to restore yourself? Smart. But that little trick isn't going to be enough to keep me from killing you!" the Stand cried as it began another flurry of punches.
"Let's see how well you can reflect attacks in stopped time! Star Platinum: The World!" Jotaro yelled.
Time stopped. Despite the strain it put on his heart, Jotaro loved using this ability. It gave him so much perspective, being able to see the world in a sort of frozen beauty. It never lasted long enough, he thought. He looked at the frozen terror upon Kaguya and Shirogane's faces. He felt like a monster for dragging more people into this awful world of his, constantly being attacked.
He thought of Egypt for a moment.
Jotaro shook the feeling off. He had a job to do. Star Platinum moved in front of him and began it's own attack rush, punching and punching away. But, the ghostly mirage fists, this time reflecting Star Platinum instead of Crazy Diamond, attacked Jotaro, despite time being stopped.
"Time resume!" yelled Jotaro, hoping to be able to have Josuke heal him as soon as possible, knowing it to be impossible to avoid the ghostly attack rush.
Josuke blinked and looked over. He knew Jotaro had stopped time, but he expected Discipline to be crashed into the wall, defeated. Instead, he saw Jotaro being attacked by a ghostly stand rush, severely injuring him. Josuke knew he had to act fast, and jumped over the couch, Crazy Diamond behind him, making it just in time to save his mentor.
"It can attack in stopped time!?" Josuke yelled in disbelief.
"The enemy itself can't. But the reflection ability does work in stopped time. Which means, the reflection is able to mimic all of our abilities," Jotaro said
"Maybe it can copy yours," Shirogane stated, "but mine isn't really combat oriented. In other words, there's not an attack to reflect!" He moved in front of Discipline, Secret Messages appearing behind him. "It won't help in defeating it, but more knowledge could help us figure out how to stop whoever's behind the attack!"
Shirogane locked eyes with the stand. A flash of jumbled up memories and a dark aura appeared in front of his eyes. The one thing it did reveal was the user's identity! Miko Iino! Snapping back to reality, Shirogane stood shocked. It was obvious from the memories that Iino wasn't really in the driver's seat, but still, one of their friends?
"Well?" Josuke asked.
"It's Iino. But not really. Her memories are jumbled up, and it's clear she's been possessed by something," Shirogane said, still shellshocked.
Kaguya gasped. As annoying as the girl could be at times, Miko Iino was still one of the few people Kaguya felt she could really trust. And to have her be used against her like a puppet made her absolutely furious.
"So what? You know my identity now! Big whoop! My Discipline is still invincible! As long as you are guilty, you cannot attack me! And I decide who's guilty!" Discipline shouted.
"Iino, or whoever is controlling you! I have something to say to about guilt!" Kaguya yelled at the stand, an idea forming in her head.
Discipline turned towards her, and Kaguya locked eyes with it, Girl U Want appearing behind her.
"I want you feel it. Feel guilty." Kaguya said, activating her ability on the stand.
"Ha! You think telling me to feel guilt will stop me! Guess what!? You're first, Kaguya Shinomiya!" the stand cried, punching at Kaguya.
"Shinomiya!" Shirogane cried.
"Kaguya!" Jotaro and Josuke and both yelled.
Then suddenly, a ghostly mirage of Discipline's fists punched back at the stand, sending it flying into a wall.
"W-what's going on!? I-I'm attacking myself!?" Discipline cried
"That's the wonderful thing about guilt," Kaguya explained, approaching the stand, "The feeling that you yourself are the guilty one overpowers the feeling of accusing others. After all, you are also breaking the laws of the universe, aren't you? You have a stand too. So, tell me, what makes you any less guilty than the rest of us?"
"B-b-but, y-you are guilty! Y-you have to be!" Discipline stuttered.
"That's what I thought you would say. How cute."
Girl U Want from behind her to perform an attack rush on the stand, shouting "Giri" over and over again with each punch. With the final punch, the stand was launched away from Kaguya, completely destroying the wall, revealing a passed out Miko Iino in the bushes, clearly injured. Josuke rushed over and healed her.
"Is she going to be, ok? Is she still possessed?" Shirogane asked, clearly shaken by having just witnessed the brutality Kaguya is capable of.
"Physically, she should be completely fine now," Josuke replied, "But I can't tell if she's still possessed."
"Josuke, open her eyes. She's passed out so she shouldn't feel anything. Shirogane, go check. Your stand can do that, can't it?" Jotaro ordered.
Shirogane moved towards Iino as Josuke held her eyes open with Crazy Diamond as to not accidentally hurt the girl. He looked into her eyes.
"She's fine, but I can't seem to find any memories of what possessed her," Shirogane said after a moment.
Jotaro looked down at the ground, clearly exhausted. "Good grief."
"Who's that strange guy running towards us?" Kaguya suddenly asked.
The group looked up.
"Okuyasu!" Josuke cried, elated to see his friend again.
"Josuke! You sly dog, a few hours through a weird portal thing, and you're already surrounded by hot chicks!" Okuyasu yelled back, not understanding the gravity of the situation.
"What a pig," Kaguya muttered under her breath.
"Hey, wait a second. That reminds me, where's that blonde chick who was in the room when that stand attacked?" Josuke asked, looking around.
Okuyasu reached the group, bending over to catch his breath. "Man, our lives just keep getting weirder and weirder, don't they?" he said, "Maybe we oughtta write a book, huh Josuke?"
But Josuke wasn't paying any attention, as Kaguya had just cried out, bringing the whole groups gaze to the passed out Hayasaka, whose body was slowly being covered by what looked to be a dark cloak, taking an almost bat like shape, with the inside of the cloak looking like the night sky, the moon prominently in the center.
"I get it now. These chicks are stand users, aren't they?" Okuyasu said, "I knew you would never get any play before I did! Glad to see I'm still right!"
Author's Note: Hello! TopNat here! I've decided to include these little tidbits to hopefully engage more with you, the reader. So, things are getting pretty crazy right? Well, for all you Kaguya fans, have no fear, things will go in a more comedic direction soon, I just have to set up the main plot first. Anyways, I'm going to try and have one of these out every week, but that schedule may be a little loose. Life can get in the way sometimes, y'know. Oh, and by the way, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the reviews! I'll answer all that I can in the Note of the next chapter. Also, check out the google drive, stand designs are there. I work really hard on them, so I'd really appreciate it. That's all for now, thank you much for reading my dumb little story!
