THIS ONE WAS HARD

A little context for the AU - basically, Jacks was lost amidst the chaos of the uprising in Akolan and forcibly adopted/kidnapped by a group of former sailors and/or mercenaries (haven't worked that out yet lol) headed by the Commandant. So after Akolan is freed, Jacks is given the choice of returning to his family or staying with his new one and he chooses staying with the crew and thus begins the adventures across the sea…anyways I just wanted to write about the Commandant

At first glance, Captain (Commandant?) Ian looked terrifying. With a large amount of scars, an eyepatch, and a few burns, he was quite the sight to behold. That, paired with his skill with the sword and the tales circulating about his prowess, he was a larger-than-life legend.

Jacks knew a little better than any bystander. Ian was still frightening aboard the ship, commanding an unshakable respect, but it was nice to see him loosen up around his cheerful crewmates.

He knew that Ian was gentle around the younger members of the crew, playing their silly games or telling them stories of the great Sea Serpents to the north. He knew that Ian was a fair hand at baking, something that he and Ellissa would never reveal to the rest of the crew, and he knew Ian as his father figure. He knew that the captain would do anything for his crew, throwing himself recklessly into danger despite everyone's warnings.

Ian had gone through years of spying for the cause in Akolan, sitting under Morbin's shadow for years, and had come out practically unscathed, retaining the same cheerful attitude that his first mate said he always had.

There was more than met the eye to Ian's raggedy crew, but perhaps Ian was the most interesting of all.

are these getting shorter as i go? nooo...xD

okay but this one was REALLY hard. i spent like three hours staring at the screen like: o-o how am i supposed to write this
