Old Demons

Chapter Two

Down in the Dino Cave, Tommy sat in a chair with a wire like crown on his head along with small white suction cups on his arms, chest and legs. The wires all lead back to the main computer where Hayley sat.

Typing away on her keyboard, Hayley brought up the results on the monitors. Sighing, she shoo her head. All Tommy's vitals were fine, no irregular heart beats or blood pressure. Even his cerebral readings show no unusual activity.

Swirling around in her chair, Hayley turned to Tommy.

"How do you feel?" she asked.

"Fine, just a small headache," Tommy replied.

Hayley nodded. She stared at Tommy for a little while when a question popped into her head.

"At the high school you said it has to be you," Hayley said.

"And you asked who," Tommy said, remembering.

"Right. So, who were you talking about?"

Sighing, Tommy shook his head. He brushed it off, believing it was an illusion, but the image of the white cat refused to leave his mind and those sea blue eyes he knew way too well. Gritting his teeth, a brief surge of pain ravaged his body. It was as if his own mind didn't want him to remember. Perhaps; he was afraid what he saw was true.

"I saw a white cat with a familiar pair of sea blue eyes I know very well." Tommy said.

"Katherine," Hayley said, leaning back in her chair.

Tommy nodded. Katherine Hillard, she never met her in person but Tommy would always talk with her over the phone in collage. She would hear them talk some times while down in the Dino Cave. No matter what day he was having, she always brought a smile to his face. Hayley scratched her chin when another thought entered her mind. Pulling out his cell phone, she placed it on the table.

"I think you should call her." Hayley said.

"You don't think?" Tommy asked.

"I don't know," Hayley said, turning back around in her chair and went back to typing. "But when my scans are done, call her, because I don't think what you saw was an illusion."

Meanwhile, back at the cyber space café, Hayley left a manager in change to monitor the place while she looked after Tommy.

Kira slipped her cell phone back in her pocket as she sat down on the couch. Connor and Ethan quickly joined her.

"So, how's Dr. O?" Connor asked

"Good, Hayley's checking him over." Kira replied.

"That's good, I was getting worry," Ethan said, followed with a sigh.

"He worried all of us."

With them all nodding in agreement, a sigh followed right after. They wanted to checking on Dr. O and Hayley but knew it would be best for Hailey to work her magic. Besides, this is Reefside, something is bound to happen.

Elsewhere wandering the hall of his Island Fortress, Mesogog stopped at the end of the hallway. He took a whiff of the air and, like always; it held its normal stale scent, but he tilted his head as another odor crept in. It was jasmine, odd for such a scent to be here. Perhaps it was just his human half playing with him, but as he continued walking, the scent remained.

Stopping again, a portal appeared. Mesogog's eyes narrowed the moment Elsa walked out from it. She bowed before looking up at Mesogog.

"Your early," Mesogog said.

"Yes, but I bring news," Elsa said.

"Go on."

"Dr. Oliver isn't well. He practically could not stand when I last saw him."

"And this wasn't your doing?"

"No."

Mesogog stood there for a moment. From the jasmine scent to Dr. Oliver's sudden weakness, something is going on here, but what?

Looking behind Elsa, Zeltrax walked up. He bowed to Mesogog before he spoke.

"I am sorry to interrupt, but you need to see this."

Mesogog and Elsa followed Zeltrax into the main chamber. Turning a few knobs on an oval machine, it lit up, showing a live video of Reefside park. They watched as screaming echoed from the machine of people running away from gray clay like creatures.

Mesogog's eyes narrowed as he stared at the new creatures. Or should he say old? The jasmine he smelled was different, while he only smelled faint traces in the hall. He smelled it a lot more now. Magic, while he has heard of many villains using the art, he only knew of one that had those kinds of minions.

"So, it's you interesting."

"Sir?"

Mesogog glanced at Elsa

"Should we intervene?,"

"Not yet. I want to see how this plays out,"

Nodding, Elsa, Zeltrax and Mesogog remained silent and continued watching.

Back at the Cyber space café everyone's eyes were glued to the TV screens because of the breaking news at Reefside park. They showed images of gray creatures on the screen. Followed by a video of them chasing and man and woman. Connor and Kira jump up and ran out of the café while Ethan stared at the screen a little longer.

"I've seen those creatures before, but where?" Ethan pondered.

Kira ran back in and pulled on Ethan's arm.

"Let's go."

"Right," Ethan said, running off with Kira.

Alarms echoed thought out the Dino Cave. Hayley swirled around in her chair as Tommy jumped off the couch. Putting his cell phone down, he rushed over to the monitors.

"I can't believe it," Hayley uttered.

"Neither can I," Tommy said.

Hayley and Tommy continued watching the screen of the clay creatures chasing the people out of Reefside park.

"Putties that not possible," Hailey said.

"Looks like it is," Tommy replied.

"Any luck with Katherine?"

"No, it keeps going to voice mail."

Hailey opened her mouth and continued talking, but Tommy couldn't hear her. Instead, the voice from before returned, and the pain was stronger than before. Holding his head, he dropped to his knees. Gritting his teeth as the voice cackled.

"Tommy…. you can't escape me."

Breathing hard, Tommy looked up into Hailey's eyes. Before he knew it, he was laying back down on the couch. The wires that were connected to him were back on his skin, including the wired crown.

"Your in no condition to go out there, and with Katherine gone..." Hayley trailed off.

"One thing at a time, now I may not be able to help them physically, but perhaps we can in a different way."

Nodding, Hayley raced over to the computer and started typing.

Meanwhile, screams filled the air at Reefside park. Many people were running away from the clay creatures just as Connor, Ethan, and Kira arrived.

"These guys don't belong to Mesogog, but they look familiar." Ethan said, watching the creatures knocking off a trash cans.

"Fight now, think later," Connor replied.

Ethan, Kira, and Connor ran toward the creatures.

Connor led the way zipping back and forth punching and kicking each of the creatures as Kira planted her feet and arched her back, she opened her mouth letting out a massive scream that knocked all the creatures back as Connor zipped around more and more causing them to huddle together. Then Ethan jumped in the air, bouncing off of Connor's shoulders. He slammed on top of the creatures, flatting them like pancakes.

Sighing in relief, the three teens cheered and turned away when the clay creatures seems to dissipate.

"Piece of cake, those clay creatures toast." Connor said, before smiling.

"I didn't think it would be that easy," Kira said.

Ethan stopped walking when a strange noise caught his attention. Turning around, his eyes grew wide.

"Uh guys," Ethan said nervously.

"What?" Connor asked.

Connor and Kira turned around, witnessing the flat creatures rise off the ground. Shaking, they split into two, forming another set of clay creatures before running in their direction.

"Uh oh," Ethan said.

"Yeah, major uh oh," Kira said, looking at Connor. "What now?"

"I'm not sure," Connor said, before slipping into his fighting stance. "But here they come!"
