Old Demons

Chapter Seven

The sun remains hidden behind the clouds in the clear blue sky as Hayley kept her eyes on the road. Her heart was wounded about what happened yesterday, but she needed to remain strong. Hayley kept her foot on the gas pedal as she continued to drive away from Reefside. They had no choice. What was happening there was something they couldn't defeat or confront, not right now, anyway.

Sighing, Hayley came to a stop at a red light. Glancing over at the passenger seat, she looked at Kira's sleeping form, then back to Connor and Ethan, who were also asleep. She had to stay strong for them. She just had to.

The light turn green and Hayley kept driving off. They may have been knocked down, but they haven't been beaten yet.

Back, the Island Fortress Is Mesogog looked over the monitor at Elsa, Zeltrax and the Tyrannodrones wreaking havoc through Reefside. From Screams echoing through the monitors to explosions, Mesogog smiled.

"I see we are content," a voice said.

Mesogog looked at Rita with a white cat in her arms along the black Dino Ranger by her side. But he looks different. His helmet held streaks of green in it, along with the rest of his suit.

"Yes, we both got what we wanted, but do you have to leave so soon? Why not stay in relish in our victory?" Mesogog said.

Rita wanted to. She had completed her goal all that was left was to revive her other generals and then she would be back to the power she once had. That's why she couldn't say no to him, at least that what she kept telling herself. Well, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to stay a little longer, she thought.

Handing her white cat over to Tommy, she joined Mesogog by the monitor. A smile soon crept across her lips at the chaos she witnessed. It was truly satisfying."

"I knew you would like what you see. I take it you plan to revive your generals?"

"Correct. While your generals are nice, I miss my own."

I have a thought. Why not stay here until your generals have been revived? Then, when you are at full strength, you can cause as much chaos as your heart's content," Mesogog said.

Rita looked at Mesogog, who looked right back at her

"I would need a place to stay and work," Rita said

"Done and done,"

"Very well, I will stay,"

"Good, follow me," Mesogog said, extending his hand out to her.

Rita took it, and the two left the main room, with Tommy following right behind them.

In Reefside screams echo the streets as Tyrannodrones and Putties ran rapid from smashing cars blasting buildings and capturing whoever was on the street, Elsa and Zeltrax laughed as they watch they humans run for their miserable lives.

The two generals turned the corner and stopped the moment they spotted a barricade of police cars block their path. Soon police officers emerged with their guns drawn as a SWAT team joined in as well, along with snipers on the roofs. Elsa found the red dots aimed at our heart and head amusing.

"Oh, look like humans are trying to fight back," Elsa said.

"Yes, this should be good."

Swallowing hard, the police chief held up the megaphone and pressed the button.

"Stop what you're doing, or we will be forced to open fire."

"Enough of the small talk! Do you worse!" Elsa yelled back.

"Open fire!" the police chief shouted.

Chaos reigns down, as pistols, handguns, rifles, and shotguns blasting in their direction. Smoke filled the air. But once the police stopped firing, Zeltrax's laughter echoed, for there was no mark on him or Elsa.

"Our turn," Elsa said, followed by a smirk.

Blasts broke through the smoke as the police chief and others ran as Tyrannodrones and Putties ran out of the smoke.

The snipers were up on the roofs to had trouble looking through the smoke. One of them got a tap on the shoulder. He screamed the moment he saw Elsa appeared. She took a hold of his rifle, breaking his gun in half. While she knocked the poor fool out with a punch, Elsa looked on at the other snipers, who were dragged away by Tyrannodrones and Putties.

Jumping back down to the street down Elsa dusted herself off as Zeltrax joined her. They watched the minions chase after the humans. Zeltrax and Elsa aimed their swords at the vehicles as their electric blast blew them up as more screams rang out.

"A sad attempt, but amusing," Elsa said.

"Indeed, well shall we," Zeltrax said.

Nodding, Elsa and Zeltrax continued on with their chaos through the city.

On the road, driving for hours upon hours and losing sunlight, Hayley came to a stop. She looks she looked down at her tracker. It was pointing straight ahead. Telling her head, she looks straight ahead but sees nothing but lush green grass. Which is strange because everywhere else there was nothing but dirt.

Hayley continues driving straight. Within moments she was welcomed with a clear blue, sky lush green grass and a fresh paved road along with a palm tree highlighting the path.

After a few minutes, she pulled up to a large white house that glistened in the sunlight. Along with bush's circling around a medium-sized fountain out front.

Driving closer, she spotted someone standing there. Coming to a stop in front of the house, the person came closer, revealing a woman with long black hair and brown eyes. Wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts. Rolling down the window, she smiled at the woman who smile back.

"You must be Hayley," the woman said.

"Yes, and your Trini right?"

"Correct. Welcome to our home." Trini said.

"If you're out here, that means you both know."

"Yes, it was bound to happen eventually," Trini said.

"Do the others know? Hayley asked in a weary tone.

"No, for now, just me and Billy. We thought it would be best that way."

"Thank you,"

Trini nodded. She looked in the cheap to see three bruised sleeping teenagers.

"I'll help you get them inside."

Hayley gently over Kira's shoulder. At first she only shifted, but then she opened her eyes and looked over to Hayley.

"Hey," Kira said, followed by a yawn.

"Hey can you walk?" Hayley asked.

Yeah, I think so. Where are we? Kira asked.

"At a friend's I'll explain later,"

Kira opened the passenger side door opened as Hayley shook Connor who eventually opened his eyes.

"Come on, have to get out, we're here," Hayley said.

Connor nodded. He wanted to know where they were, but he barely had enough strength to keep his eyes open. Looking up at the door, he noticed the smiling face of a woman. Turn the back door before he knew it what he was helping lift Ethan out of the Jeep and towards the main door of the house.

Stepping out the passenger side, Kira stumbled a little, but Hayley grabbed her arm and helped her.

Soon they were joining the others as they walked inside the double white doors. Hayley's eyes glanced around at the vast living room from the white carpet to the windows in the ceiling. This place was enormous. She followed Trini up the spiral stairs to the second floor.

Two doors were already open. Trini, Connor, and Ethan walked in the first one. While Hayley entered the second one with Kira.

Walking past a small couch, TV, closet, and a large dresser with a mirror attached, they entered the bedroom well large king-size bed.

Hayley helped Kira lay on the bed. Kira kicked off her shoes before looking over at Hayley. Her eyes were heavy, but she didn't want to sleep yet. But Hayley shook her head as she touched Kira's hand.

"Rest, we'll talk later, I promise."

Kira nodded as she finally gave in and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

Walking out of the room and softly closing the door behind her, Hayley stood there with her head down as a sigh escaped her lips. Trini approached her and took a hold of her hand, leading a third room. Opening the door, Trini leads Hayley inside. Hearing the sniffles from Hayley, she stopped outside the bedroom.

"You know it's okay. You can cry," Trini said.

"I can't. It's up to me to look after them. I have to stay strong," Hayley said.

"The best way you can do that is first take care of yourself."

Hayley couldn't blink away the tears fast enough, as a sob escaped her throat. Everything from losing Tommy to the fall of the rangers finally came to the surface.

Opening the bedroom door, Trini laid Hayley down on the bed and took off her shoes. As Hayley closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Turning out the lights, Trini walked out of the room.

Walking down the stairs into the living room, Trini sat on the couch. Moments later, she was joined by Billy, who wrapped his arm around her waist. She laid her head on, shoulder sighing.

"They're finally asleep," Trini said.

"Good, I can't imagine what they went through," Billy said.

"Most likely ten times worse than what we did,"

Billy and Trini remained silent for a few moments before Trini opened a file on the table. Looking over the contents, she looked up at Billy.

"Looks like we need to get to work,"

Standing up and holding hands, Billy and Trini walk toward the lab. Rest is what the rangers and Hayley need right now because when they wake up there would be a lot of work to do.
