Amity Park - 2014
It been a decade since Danny Phentom first became Danny Phantom, a decade since his close friend Sam convinced him to enter his parents ghost portal that got his molecules scrambled. When he woke up that day everything about him was different, he felt different.
His jet-black hair had turned snow white, his dark blue eyes had turned emerald green, and he could suddenly walk-through walls and fly. It was like he had become a ghost. A ghost who still had a pulse and could shift back into a human form. It was cool yet terrifying.
Since then, his life had never been the same. He had become some kind of half-human half-ghost superhero. For a fourteen-year-old who was still finding his own way in life that was a lot. His superhero life and his personal life were at constant odds with each other.
Being Danny Phantom was a sacrifice that had cost him a lot of things, but at the end of the day he managed to save the world and still have some semblance of a normal life. He finished high school, went to college, and even got the key to the city since he didn't have a secret identity anymore.
As Danny Phantom he fought legendary battles against the likes of The Lunch Lady, Skulker, Technus, Johnny 13, The Fright Knight, Undergrowth, The Ghost King, Walker, The Box Ghost, and even his dad's old college buddy Vlad Plasmius. Heck, he even beat an evil alternate future version of himself.
Despite his many victories over his rogue's gallery, there was one ghost in particular that always seemed to be at the forefront of his mind... Ember McLain. The rocker ghost who almost reminded him of the main character of The Crow, except evil.
Some of his baddies gave up after ten years of defeats but not her, she always came back hungrier than ever. The last time they fought it was when he stopped her plan to ensnare people with her song via social media. It was a clever plan, but his friends Tucker and Sam took care of it.
Oddly enough the fight that ensued between them was something he was looking forward to. They'd fought so many times that he should've been sick of it but never really was. There was just something about her over the past ten years that really grabbed his attention.
What that something was he wasn't sure. He just knew whenever she was out and about causing trouble he just had to be there on the double. Fighting her wasn't like fighting his other rogues, there was just this glint in her eyes that told him this was more fun for her than serious.
Maybe that's why he felt that warm fuzzing feeling whenever they exchange barbs and blows. It was fun for him too. When did fighting with her stop being something so dire? When had fighting with her become... fun?
Fun? Fighting with Ember was fun.
Danny smiled as he flew through the sky on his nightly patrol. "Fighting with Ember is fun, huh."
To be continued...
