The next afternoon, after getting off the phone with her parents Tiffany goes to find Sean in his secret room. Sean is reading something off his computer screen as she enters.
"Am I interrupting? Are you busy?" she inquires trying to see what he's reading off his screen. He quickly turns off the computer and stands to greet her.
"No, I'm not. But first," Sean says, grinning before wrapping Tiffany in his arms and kissing her. They stand kissing for a moment before breaking apart.
"Now that computer can't do that. Can it?" Tiffany quips, her eyes twinkling as they stay embraced.
"How'd it go with your parents honey?"
"They are ecstatic to be having a grandchild. And wanted to know Cheryl's reaction. I haven't been able to get ahold of her and didn't want to leave a message with our news. What are you working on that's had you locked in here all day?" She peers over his shoulder, surveying his messy desk and the shut down computer.
"Well-some files I wanted to review."
"Oh. Did you check your machine?"
"Can I finish my story?"
"Oh, honey I'm sorry it's just that Robert called from Katherine's.
"What'd he say?"
"Well, he wanted to know why you haven't been over today. And to remind you about Robin's essay contest tomorrow."
"Oh is that all?"
"Well. I was thinking that maybe since I've told my parents about the baby we can tell our friends. Tomorrow is going to be such a great day and why not add to that happiness?" Tiffany suggests.
"Tiffany, sweetheart. I don't think tomorrow is going to be a good day." Tiffany sees his eyes cloud over as he breaks their embrace. "I need to be upfront with you. Tomorrow is a big day for the operation I've been working on with Robert and Anna. And as much as I want to share our news with them-" he pauses.
She didn't let him finish. Instead she reaches out and takes his hands into hers. In all the time they've been together she's never seen him this shaken, this worried by a mission. And she knew that was something important he wasn't telling her about tomorrow. So she does what she does best to calm him and refocus him she asks;
"Does this have anything to do with Anna's engagement?"
Sean nods.
"And Robin isn't winning an award. Is she?"
Sean smiles. "I can't get much past you can I?"
"Not when I've been learning from the best, all that WSB training must be rubbing off." Tiffany said. "Can you tell me anything else?"
"No, I can't."
"What do we do if things don't go as planned?" Tiffany asks.
Sean pauses. He hadn't thought about failure. They couldn't fail. Not when Felicia was due to give birth in two months and his own baby to consider now. Faison needed to be taken care of so that they could all have some semblance of normal again.
"The plan isn't going to fail. I just can't give you all the details." He said finally.
"I wish there was something I could do for you."
"There is. Could you go and keep Felicia occupied tomorrow?"
"I was planning on going and visiting her. I got her a gift."
"That's perfect. And honey, I know how excited you are to tell people about the baby but could you hold off on telling Felicia till we can do it together?"
"Of course, darling. I'm going to go and give her a call now. See what time would be the best to go and see her. And leave you to your top secret work." she says before leaving him to his work.
As Tiffany sat listening to Felicia gush over her gift she kept thinking about Sean and what danger he might be facing. Whatever was happening, however it ended, would have a lasting impact on all of them. Much like their baby. She smiled slightly recalling how he had woken her up that morning with a kiss on her still flat belly. For as fearful, as she had been for his reaction to her pregnancy she was equally elated at how blissful they had been. They had spent the morning discussing plans for a nursery and her upcoming appointment with .
Sean had apologized for not being able to accompany her that afternoon, but there would be more he could attend in the upcoming months. Thankfully she hadn't been nauseous and her headaches had eased and gone away. Dr. Morgan had said that the baby was growing right on schedule and hit all the right measurements for 10 weeks. She couldn't wait till they could share their news with their friends.
"Do you think Decker will be cleared? Tiff?" Felicia shakes her arm a little to gain her attention.
"I'm sorry, Felicia. What did you ask me?" she replies. She hasn't been paying that close to what her friend is saying her mind is occupied with other matters.
"I was asking if you thought Shep would be able to clear Decker of murder? Frisco told me you had been in Midvale with Shep. I was surprised to get your call yesterday asking to come over. Not that I don't enjoy your company but once you get involved in any story that's your focus till you get the results you want." she states.
"Oh, well… I was missing Sean and Shep is a bloodhound out to find his prey. So I decided to come home. Plus the townspeople were giving me the creeps. Shep is going to keep updating me on anything he finds. And I'm sure Decker and Dawn will be home soon. Speaking of people coming home soon. I should head out." She goes to gather her purse and coat and get up off the bed when she hears the apartment door opening and both Frisco and Sean laughing.
"Ladies," Sean greets them as he comes into the bedroom before kissing Felicia on the cheek and Tiffany on the forehead. "How are we on this fine evening?" He asks with a glint in his eye.
"We are all doing wonderfully, Darling. What are you doing here? I thought I was going to meet you at Delefields in half an hour."
"Ah well," Frisco appears with a bottle in hand. "We decided that a little celebration was in order." he says waving it around.
"Frisco, I told you I wanted to ask Sean to be the godfather of our baby. Did you tell him?" Felicia exclaims.
"Honey, I didn't say anything. Really. But since you said something." He gestures for her to continue.
"Would you," she pauses, looking at Tiffany and giving her a little smile before looking up at Sean, "Would you be the godfather?"
"Yes,yes. Honey, I would be so honored." he goes over and kisses her on the cheek.
"And Tiffany, would you do us the honor of being a godmother?" Frisco pips in. She is taken aback by the question. She was certain that Anna was going to be the only godmother. She never thought they would ask her along with Sean.
"Is that really what you want?," she asks Felicia.
"Yes, this baby needs two fantastic godmothers. There is so much you can teach it about generosity, and strength and most importantly love Tiffany. We really would be honored if you would say yes."
"Oh, yes Felicia. I would absolutely love to be one of the godmothers. Thank you."
"Well, this definitely calls for a celebration. Sean, could you pop this why I go and get glasses and some apple juice for Felicia from the kitchen?" Frisco asks before passing the bottle over to him.
Tiffany eyes the bottle and then looks up at Sean with a raise of her eyebrow. He knows she can't drink any alcohol right now. She wants to get him alone to question him about how the mission went. Judging from their mood it must have gone well. She goes to ask Sean if she can talk to him privately when Frisco reappears and he pops open the bottle.
"Here, Tiff, you hold these and Sean can pour." Frisco has a tray with three champagne flutes and one glass of juice on it. He hands her the tray and takes the juice off and passes it to Felicia before climbing in the bed beside her.
"What was with the laughing then, if you hadn't asked Sean to be godfather? You two seem awfully happy coming in that door just now." she asks while Sean fills two of the glasses passing one to Frisco. She places her hand over her glass before he pours any in it. She catches his eye and he mouths an I love you before placing the bottle on the tray she is holding. She sets it on the part of the bed unoccupied before flattening her clothes down and replies.
"None, for me. Thank you very much."
"Oh come on Tiff, Let's toast the new godparents." Frisco says, extending his glass out to her.
"I said no thank you Frisco. I'm not drinking right now." She says waving it away. She wishes Sean would say something to get them out of this situation.
"Well jeez Tiff, it's not like you're pregnant or anything." Frisco teases her, not realizing how right he is. There is silence for a moment when Tiffany doesn't automatically reply back with a firm no. Tiffany gets up off the bed and goes to stand beside Sean.
Sean is looking at Tiffany with a look of complete contentment. The same kind of look Frisco has been giving Felicia for the past seven months. Tiffany sees realization dawn on Felicia's face.
"But I think she is," Felicia says.
"Wait," Frisco looks closely at Tiffany and Sean. He has his arm wrapped protectively around her abdomen and her hand is over his. "Is Felicia right? Are you guys going to have a baby?" he asks.
"We were going to wait to tell everyone. Throw a little party and then come over and tell you Felicia. But yes, we are going to have a baby." Tiffany replies.
"This is great… I never thought you would get around to having a baby. But this is wonderful. I'm so happy for you. Get over here and give me a hug." Felicia replies holding out her arms to Tiffany. She goes over and hugs them both. Felicia starts asking her questions about who her OB is and when the baby is due while Frisco gets up to shake Sean's hand and pull him into a hug.
"Congratulations, Sean. Sorry I ruined the party Tiff was planning." He says.
"You didn't ruin anything, darling. You and Felicia will just have to keep this a secret for us." Tiffany replies, smiling up at him. Sure this wasn't the way she wanted people to find out but she was so happy that at least two of their friends knew now.
