Following behind the man known as Paradox in the market district of Omnitrix City, it was usually busy with loads of aliens moving about. Some shipments here needed to be moved across town while others were doing deliveries. This time it was quite and not that Paradox was using his time altering abilities no but the normal quite. Gwendolyn hadn't been to the market district of the city before and was always told not to go there in fear of some alien trying to kidnap her and want ransom or to see her dad suffer. It was often called the bad part of town with loads of aliens shelling legal or illegal equipment. Unlike the shopping district where it would look nice and clean, here the market district was mucky and dirty. Running water in the back alleys, gangs at every corner and night clubs open twenty-four seven. The dark brunette kept her head low and followed after the time traveller. He always seems to know what he is doing and has a purpose for doing it. After balling her eyes out on top of the building Paradox led her there and told her that this is where she'll live from now on. She wanted to go back home the moment she saw the place. It was miles away from Tennyson Tower and only a thirty minute train ride to her school, from home it would have been five minute. They looked out of place with Paradox looking as if he was some rich guy while she was his daughter or something. Probably going to a business meeting, they all thought. Passing by a few aliens here and there, some she recognized from seeing them all around while others were fairly new to her.

A hand slammed its way into a wooden table as two aliens, both humanoid with a different skin and eye colour. They were having an argument in their respective language but understood each other nonetheless. The taller humanoid looking alien shouted back and pointed to the part on the wooden table, whereas the other not much shorter humanoid alien shook his head and gave him the finger. She watched the exchange in case they were about to fight, wanting a reason to get out of here as soon as possible. But nothing happened and she followed behind the time walker. Nobody seemed to mind them as they walked deeper and deeper into the district and made their way to where the apartments building stood.

The building was five stories high with four apartments on each floor. The building itself looked old and worn down yet the elevator works fine. Without missing a beat Paradox stepped into the elevator and looked at her with a raised brow then gestured for her to follow. She did but albeit a bit hesitant and Paradox pushed the number three button on the control panel. The elevator started moving but also shaking every once and a while as the lights flicker on and off.

Right old and worn out, she reminded herself quickly.

Glancing at the man beside her she wordlessly thought how he can act so carefree and relax in a time like this. He walked as if he had done this a million times and had met her before but if her – blurred – memory had told her anything it was back in the void was their first meeting. She chalked it up to time travel and multiple timelines seeing as the man – or entity – was well versed in what he was doing. She tried to feel out his mana from what Aunt Gwendolyn had told her about magic. Magic being the life essence of the universe and all. But as he tried to feel out his mana she felt a deep hole, like a sinking feeling, as there wasn't a beginning or end to his power. She shivered and stepped away slowly from the man. If he wanted to, he could kill her without anyone knowing or without her knowing. It frightened her but she kept herself calm as best she could, ignoring how her heart suddenly started beating faster and faster with each second she was with him inside the metal box.

Once the elevator dinged and the door opened up, she released a breath she didn't know she had held in as Paradox began walking straight revealing a long grey hallway with he railing on her left side while the doors to the apartments were on her right. It took her a couple of seconds of catching her breath to finally begin walking behind Paradox. Her brown eyes stared at the back of his moving figure as he made his way to the end of the hall. Stopping as well she saw a grey door, which mirrored the walls and floors, and he suddenly pulled a key out from somewhere, she guessed.

He arched a brow at her silently asking if she was ready. She gave a stiff nod and the time walker opened the door by twisting the key inside the lock. She walked in before him and immediately the dark room was lit up by the lights. Was it automatic or motion detected? Turning her face behind her she saw Paradox had switched on the lights by the door.

Oh, it was just a modern switch. Now that the room was lit she saw the apartment was smaller than she thought. The kitchen and the living room were connected, with a three seater couch, a coffee table in the middle. A flat screen TV is hung on the wall but she figured it was an older version as there were two remote controls laid out on the table. The kitchen was pretty much how she figured it to be. A stove, microwave, kettle, a few cupboards with cutlery and plates for some reason but she figured it out quickly. There was a hallway leading towards two rooms, one being the bathroom while the other was her room. She opened the door and saw a bed with folded blankets and a pillow, surprisingly it was clean. She then closed the door and made her way to the living room where Paradox stood upright and didn't bother sitting anytime soon.

"This…" She gestured towards the apartment, her brown eyes glancing back to the hallway she just walked, "Is my home, isn't it."

He nodded, "Yes and there's also a balcony as well, just move the curtains," He pointed across the room and she followed his gaze and saw grey curtains draped over something, a sliding door perhaps.

"But how did you afford it? Wait, how do you even have a key?" She stuttered over her words for a bit as she tried to rack her brain around that this was going to be her new home.

The man outside of time held a smile on his face, "It's my place, dear Tennyson. My home is now yours," He held out his hand holding his, no her key towards her.

"Y-You live here?"

Nodding slowly the time walker simply stated, "Only one of the many places I've acquired since my travels. I don't live here pre-say but I come here once and a while to rest my muscles for a bit."

She was stunned for about a minute then she hastily grabbed the bronze key into her grasp. She looked at it, feeling the cold metal in her skin as she then looked opening her mouth but Paradox held his hand up stopping her.

"You should be settled into the timeline in about a month or so." He paused, reaching into his lab coat's inner pockets and pulled out something she didn't expect him to have, "I believe this is yours."

What he held in his hand was the charms of Bezel, three of the charms, along with a small spell she got from her Aunt Gwendolyn. Her eyes widened as Paradox gave it to her. It wasn't the gift that she wanted but it was better than nothing as she felt the familiar mana signature inside the charms. It was faint but it was there. She felt it.

"H-How did you?" Tears started to form at the edges of her vision as she tried to hold back her tears. She didn't want to cry twice in one day.

"I looked into your memories and saw this. You didn't like it at first but then came to love it with all your heart," Paradox explained with a fond smile on his face. Putting the charms inside her pockets her eyes landed on the book as her fingers grazed the cover. She won't mess up this opportunity, this second chance at life.

"I suggest you stay out of trouble for the time being till I come back or not." He suddenly said as he looked down at his pocket watch, his brows knitted together.

"What? What's that supposed to mean–"

"Oh, and check under the sink for a little surprise, I think you might like it."

A blinding blue white flashes before her eyes for a split second as it vanishes and he is gone, leaving her alone in the apartment. She pondered his words for a minute, a second but then she made her way to the sink, placing her key and the spell book onto the kitchen table. Checking under the sink she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She wanted to laugh but gave a silent thanks as she took a few stacks of cash laying neatly under the sink. She counted a couple thousands and placed them on the kitchen table. She didn't know how to feel at that moment. Happy, sad, shock…relief.

She pulled out the charms of Bezel and placed them on the table in front of her. If she remembered correctly they were the charms of Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis and Electrokinesis.

~~~~~
It was after Kenny's tenth birthday party, which technically was her birthday as well but her dad wanted to make Kenny's tenth special for some reason and now she knows why. The Omnitrix, the same device her dad has, was gifted to Kenny in front of everyone, including him and Aunt Gwendolyn even saw it through her thought projection magic. She was mad at her father of course and not only that but he also got a golem pet from Aunt Gwendolyn, jt just wasn't fair. It was their birthday party, not his! Even after Kenny got the watch he immediately started going in after their dad's footsteps, turning into his Kinecelearn following their dad. What followed were mere events of their heroics being displayed on TV. There weren't any schools since it was holidays for them and the second term started in three weeks from now. So she sat in her room and listened to music all day, only going out to eat something or go to the bathroom. Then the alarms flared followed by an explosion which quickly sorted itself out minutes later. She stayed in her room and didn't go out until she was certain it was safe. She tried calling her dad but he wasn't picking up and she didn't know if Kenny's Omnitrix could take any calls.
An hour or two passed and her dad came back either Kenny in two along with their Great-Grandfather Max. But it wasn't that they looked as if they came back from a war but the black haired boy wearing a hoodie with a lock around his neck standing next to Kenny. It was quickly explained tk her what happened and she was glad to stay in her room for once. Everyone had dinner that night and she got to talk to the boy who was a year older than them. Devlin Levin was his name, she reminded herself. She went back to her room once she was done and didn't respond to her dad's question.
Sitting at the edge of her bed with nothing but the music playing to drown out her thoughts about their birthday. Kenny had his fun today and even got a watch to show off and tomorrow was going to be her turn but considering what had happened less than twenty-four hours she doesn't think her birthday would be anything special like Kenny's. Dad favoured him for some reason and while their mom was away on an exhibition somewhere in the East searching for a lost artefact she was here, with no one to look at her. Just great, wasn't it.
She didn't know how long she stayed up but she heard the sound of knocking on her door and immediately thought it was her dad. She gave a weak reply for her dad to come in and as the door slid open it revealed not her dad but her Aunt Gwendolyn, her name sake.
"Hey, figured you up, Gwenny?" Still dressed in her skin tight bodysuit with the charms of Bezel on her right arm, she had her cloak wrapped around her neck as her hair was still in a ponytail, just like before she 'showed up' at Kenny's party.
"Hi, Aunt Gwendolyn, didn't think you'd be back so soon," She tried to be a little happy to see her Aunt again but it didn't work. Aside from their names they didn't get along as well. She was always busy and had one problem or the other to solve.
Smiling brightly, the red headed woman went to her bed and sat beside her, "Well, I would have been here sooner if I had caught the beast earlier as planned but that changed along with the plan." She looked at her niece, emerald eyes met her dark brown ones. Sometimes she would get lost in her Aunt's eyes, the similar shade of green that her dad and Kenny have, making it clear who was the favourable one out of the two, "Sorry, I wasn't here to celebrate your birthday, Gwenny."
"It's okay Aunt Gwendolyn, I get where my dad was coming from," She lied but her Aunt didn't know that.
Sighing Gwendolyn rubbed her temple, "I told him this would be a bad idea but no. He wanted to do this his way and give Kenny an Omnitrix while he didn't get you anything." Her nostrils flared with anger and the young brunette saw her Aunt's eyes glowed for a split second then it vanished.
"Don't worry about that," She tried, she really did, keeping her voice levelled, "He said he would surprise me tomorrow, even going so far as to let the Plumber handle the bad guys." That's what she was told but her father would have to leave and go save a few people here and there. It was in his nature at this point.
Gwendolyn's eyes softly as she looked down at the young girl, "You're really mature about this, you know," She didn't comment on it and it wasn't the first she heard of it either, "But let me tell you a secret. There was another reason I wasn't here today of all days." Her ears perked up and she looked up at the older woman in confusion. What could the other reason be, she wondered.
Taking this as her queue to continue Gwendolyn spoke with her right hand outstretched, "It took a lot longer to make but I wanted to give you something special for your birthday, it's not an Omnitrix level of special but I hope you'll use it with care," In the palm of her hand materialised three identical charms, same as the ones lining up her arm. They glowed with ethereal energy as they flowed above the palm of her hand.
She was shocked at what she was seeing. She knew her Aunt was a powerful sorcerer but to create three of the six charms of Bezel and give it to her was something else. The charms floated out off her Aunt's palm towards her as she held out both hands and the charms fell into them. Her thumbs grazing the rocks along with the markings inscribed upon them. She didn't know what to say but she knew what to do. Instantly she sprung up and hugged her Aunt. A smile formed on her face as she dug her head into the older woman's stomach. Slender arms wrapped themselves around her as her Aunt Gwendolyn laughed a little hugging the younger brunette. The warm embrace lasted for a minute or two before they pulled back.
Holding the charms in one hand and the book in the other she gave her Aunt a glance, "What's the book for?" She couldn't help but smile widely at what she was currently holding in her hands.
Giggling a little, the older Tennyson pointed to the book, "You can't use the charms of Bezel without learning the basics of magic, little one." She then demonstrates by lighting up the point if her finger with magic, a blue glow surrounded it before it fades away, "Once you have the basics down then you can use the charms," Again she demonstrated by outstretching her hand in front of them as one on of her charms glowed and a small flame was in the middle of her room. She stared wide-eyed at the display as she watched the fire vanish into nothingness.
"You got that?" Nodding her head a bit too eagerly the young Tennyson opened the book and read the first line then read it again and again. She didn't understand the first line at all. Actually she didn't understand magic at all and just saw it in cartoons and in comics Kenny read in his free time. When she had heard Aunt Gwendolyn casting a spell it was always another language. She wasn't sure which one.
"Why are there only three compared to your six?" She asked curiously looking at the charms in her arms.
The older woman smiled, "Simple, the charms you have are Pyrokinesis, Electrokinesis and Telekinesis, they are the charms that I first restored and were a lot easier to control than the charm of Luck and Death." She explained. It was easier but it still took her longer to recreate the charms, much less duplicate them for her niece. But she would rather have her use these ones. She can still use the basics. Maybe down the line she can have her own keystone of Bezel.
"Can you teach me?"
"Of course, we can start our lessons the day after tomorrow, I promise." Unless something else comes up which it usually does, "Oh and the language is Latin, so you can start learning that." She gave her a wink at the end.
"Have you met the newest addition to the family?" She asked softly not wanting to think bad about Devlin Levin, the kid did nothing wrong and just had her dad full attention.
"Devlin? Yeah, he looks just like his father when he was that age," Aunt Gwendolyn looked away suddenly then turned back to face her. She knew there was history between her Aunt and Kevin Levin. Whether Devlin was the love child or not didn't matter but her Aunt still had some lingering feelings for her old flame, "He was really shy when I met him now but I think he still finds it weird that he is here and not in a prison cell." She grimaced at the thought of someone so young – their age – in prison and trying to survive.
She looked down at her feet, still wearing her white plums, at the thought of Devlin taking her dad's attention away from her. Even with her mom coming back for her birthday party it was still like they forgot about her. It happened when they were seven when she got lost exploring the Tower and they only found her hours later with Kenny on their dad's shoulders. Like always, he was favoured most of the time if not always.
"Gwendolyn." Someone called their names as a figure appeared in her room. Same as what her Aunt did at Kenny's birthday party, the figure was an thought projection using magic, dressed dark purple clothing with high heeled boots, holding a staff with a bird skull at the top in hand, the figure's silver hair was loose with her eyes
having the same colour as her clothes. A small stone with a rune embedded into it was around her neck. It looked almost similar to the charms.
"Hope," Her Aunt Gwendolyn answered standing up addressing the figure before her, "What's wrong did something happen in Legderdomain?"
The ruler of Legderdomain nodded her head, "Afraid so, there's unusual activity in the eastern region. My golems tried getting a closer look but they got destroyed before they could share their vision with me." She explained and the redhead nodded, crossing her arms in thought.
"Is it Adwaitya or Darkstar? Last I heard Darkstar was spotted opening the door to anywhere and we haven't spotted him since. And Adwaitya was silent after you overthrew him," She listed down the two primary suspects that would invade and cause havoc in the now peaceful dimension where all magic resides.
Shaking her head the white haired witch responded, "Not sure, but I'd rather we discuss it in Legderdomain rather than your nieces bedroom," She gestured towards the little brunette watching them in earnest.
Sighing she nods her head, "Understood, I'll get there as soon as I can."
Charmcaster smiled, tilting her head a little, "Don't be too hasty now Gwendolyn, I can wait." She teased the redhead a little then vanished leaving the two Gwendolyn's alone in the younger one's room.
The older Gwendolyn looked at her niece who only held a smile on her face. She knew the girl was putting up a brave face. She was just like her cousin, always putting on a smile and hiding the pain away until it's too late. She could always see a little bit more of Ben in her niece than her nephew.
She wanted to say she'll come back like there's no tomorrow but she didn't want to disappoint her. Instead she chose her words carefully, "I promise I'll be back then we can start our magic lesson like I said." Nodding, the young brunette looked at her and gave a bright smile on her face.
"Promise?"
"Promise," She walked forward and kissed the young girl's forehead, something her mom and dad would always do when they were putting her to sleep, "And remember one more thing. Words hold power, never forget that, alright."
She mouthed those words inside her head, never forgetting it. With a smile on her face and one last hug, her Aunt Gwendolyn walked out of her room, waving goodbye. Once the door closed she looked at the book and charms she had gotten and remembered what her Aunt told her. She then grabbed a nearby pencil and opened the cover of the book, writing inside the cover before the first page.
'Words Have Power'.
~~~~~

"I won't ever forget that Aunt Gwendolyn."

She said softly to herself as she looked at the words she had written in the book five years ago. She closed the book then looked at the money Paradox had conveniently left for her. She looked down at her attire then thought back to the empty drawers and cubits. She needed clothes and food. The fridge was empty, she didn't have to look to know that. Taking a deep breath she put the charms in her pocket along with her book, grabbed a few thousands then her key, she locked the door and headed out.

Maybe she'll take a page out of Kenny's book.

When arriving back at Tennyson Tower, Kenny and Devlin stood side by side in the elevator moving up to where Magister Rook Blonko would be waiting for them. Devlin held a smile on his face as a bead of sweat dripped down his face while Kenny was panting slightly with a frown on his face. He cheated, Kenny accused out loud in his thoughts. The race was simple and he was moving faster thanks to the device Paradox gave him. He was ahead of Devlin but the Osmosian had to use his Lepidopteran spit to throw him off his game and he nearly crashed into the side of a building. Devlin laughed at him while getting the lead and Kenny tried his best to catch up but it was too late as he was standing, in his normal form, there with his arms crossed at the door. He glared at his fellow teen the whole ride up.

"Cheer up, Kenny," Devlin bumped his shoulder with his, "All fair in love in war, right."

"I knew I should have blasted you when I had the chance," He muttered loudly and Devlin couldn't contain his laughter further.

Kenny then punched his shoulder to make him stop but the black haired teen didn't, "Looks like you have to explain everything to Uncle Rook."

Right, he kinda forgot about the bet. He was more focused on the cheating son of bitch next to him. Sometimes he wished he had his Omnitrix on his wrist to quickly transform into an alien. How long had it been since he used to watch? Two months maybe longer? He didn't know and when Paradox gave him the suit along with the time shifter to go back to the past and future, he didn't keep track of everything.

The ride was mostly in silence as Devlin played on his phone while Kenny thought about what he was going to say. Their parents were off-world at the moment so that left them with Rook Blonko who would watch over them until their parents came back. When they came back, Kenny reminded himself grimly. There was always a chance that they wouldn't come back from their mission. It's what they live for and he can't fault them for that, neither can Devlin. Both teens knew that and would mourn the loss of their parents if something happened. That's why they do what they do. Fighting bad guys and saving people. It's not a pretty life but it's the one where they can do something with what they're given.

The elevator dinged and opened revealed the command area of Tennyson Tower where everything that is happening in the world and Omnitrix City is being monitored on multiple screens. A larger table is in the middle of the room with a bunch of holograms being displayed as a humanoid alien with blue fur, a white stripe going down the middle of his face with yellow eyes and a beard growing on his chin. He wore a white and black armour with the Plumbers Badge on his belt and a weapon holstered on his left shoulder. Magister Rook Blonko was going through some video footage of the robbery and paying close attention to Chrono Spanner and Devlin Levin facing the robbers. The two smiled at each other gave a fist bump at seeing someone such as the Magister looking over their fight

It looked like he was alone as there would sometimes be other Plumbers such as Cooper Daniels or Lucy Mann helping out monitoring the city. But it was just him.

Kenny made a coughing noise into the palm of his hand and Magister Rook paused the video feed turning to them. A smile grazed the Revonnahgander as he put his arms behind his back.

"Welcome back home, boys. I trust that you had an eventful evening." They nodded their heads. He was always ncid to them and would have reason to shout at them like their parents would.

"Look, Uncle Rook," Kenny started still wearing his suit with his helmet retracted, "Sorry, if we didn't contact you or the Plumbers ahead of time but there wasn't any left and by the time you would have arrived they would have escaped with the money." He explained and hoped the older Plumber would understand.

"But the point still remains that you should have contacted us. Both of you know the dangers now that your parents are off world," Both teens looked down at their shoes. They didn't know how long they would be gone for but it was a major emergency when it came up. Leaving them with hugs, kisses and a promise to come back as quickly as possible.

"Kenny," He called out the the brunette who looked up, "Your parents are still mad at you for keeping them in the dark at being Chrono Spanner not to mention that you risked your life multiple occasions without any proper training," He held up his hand before the boy could speak, "I know your father didn't have training but he still learned. Gwendolyn and Kevin learned as well and they are exceptional Plumbers, which brings some me to you, Devlin." The boy flinched slightly at being called out. He knew Kenny would but not him.

"I do not think your mother has forgotten about what you did that made them so mad at you. Which is why you were grounded and left with Zed at home."

Yea, that was still a touchy subject to touch upon. Long story short, Devlin wanted a power boost. His dad's abilities were useful but he wanted to boost his already existing abilities with his mother's side. Anodite powers mixed with Osmosian powers. The result wasn't pretty and his dad yelled at him for two hours while his mom banned him from her library. They still hold him accountable but his mom had softened a little.

"I know, I messed up but I had good reason–"

"Good reasons or not, that still does not help that you nearly brought your house down with that spell." Devlin looked ready to storm out of the room but Magister Rook let out a sigh, "Honestly, I had thought both of you would learn from your mistakes but I was mistaken, good job." Devlin looked up in confusion at the Plumber while Kenny tilted his head.

"What?"

"What I mean is that you, both of you, really did a good job at handling the crooks. You knew what you were doing and maintained minimal damage unlike your father's I would say." The Revonnahgander let out a small chuckle remembering a mission that had both of them on the team and the results were collateral damage in Xenon street.

"So, we won't get punished?" A glimmer of hope flashed into the boys' eyes at the praise that they were getting.

"No," And reality came back crashing down onto them, "You are going to help Rilla with his Revonnahgander culture studies, he should be in the library." Both let out groans of irritation. They really didn't want to hit the books now. But hey, it was better than the Plumber's toilet. Both shiver at the thought, never again.

"Now, then, I have work to do."

He shooed them away and they dragged their feet to the elevator with their head hung low in defeat. The doors opened and they bid farewell to the Magister who waved back with a smile on his face. Once the door closed and the elevator started moving downwards, where the library was, did his expression change and he went back to the holodeck dialling a number. A small screen hologram appeared with the number 10 in the middle as the person on the other end answered. Familiar emerald green eyes, brown hair with grey starting at the sides, a goatee on his face stared back at him.

"Rook? What's wrong, did something happen to the kids? Whatever is it, we'll handle–"

"I do not want to speak about them, Ben," He interrupted the hero of heroes, Ben Ten Thousand, saviour of the universe and all, "I am calling regarding the situation you have been sent to deal with, any news?"

Ben Ten Thousand let out a sigh and brought a hand through his brown locks, "No, we're still trying to figure out what's going on. Gwendolyn has been mediating and using a few spells that could contain but it doesn't seem to work. Kevin and Kai are still evacuating the civilians on the planet. We don't know what will happen once this thing gets any bigger." He explained. He looked exhausted and didn't seem to have slept much either.

"Ben, do you think this has anything to do with you beating Maltruant at the beginning of time?" It still gave him a headache thinking about it. They had bested Maltruant once on the Contumelia's ship using the corrupted Anilarg he wanted to make the universe in his own image. It backfired as Ben had used his Conductiod form known as Feedback.

"No, I don't think so Rook, Paradox said he was stuck in a time loop without him knowing about it, so chances of him breaking out could be slim," Or not, Rook thought. A Chronosapian was a dangerous foe and both of them knew it, "Guess we're gonna have to stay here a bit longer until we sort out the time rift."

"Have you tried contacting Paradox?"

His partner gave a long tired sigh and rubbed his temple with his index finger and thumb, "Don't get me started, that's the first thing I tried without going Clockwork but if this continues, I might need to at some point."

He nodded in agreement, "I believe you will find a way to seal it. I have work to do and so do you, Ben." He watched with amazement as the greatest hero in the universe gave a long out groan in frustration.

"Yeah, will do, Rook, keep an eye on the kids for us, will ya. Kai and Gwendolyn want to go home and see them."

"Be safe and come back home."

"Will do, Partner."

The holo screen fades away and Rook is left alone in the command centre of Tennyson Tower. He wanted to hold out hope that this would not be stretched out any longer. Ben might not say but he wants to see his son just as much as Kai and Gwendolyn did. Kevin was another story but he loved his son. Hoping, praying that they will come back and see their children grow up. Letting out another sigh, Rook then straightened his back and began typing away in the holodeck resuming his work. Omnitrix City is not the only place he has to keep safe.

~~~~~~
Hours passed as the afternoon sun was gone and replaced by the night sky with a few dwindling stars in the sky. The streets were quiet as passing cars drove home from work. A few people go out late at night going to a bar to drink away their problems. A hard day's work needs its rewards, they say. But this was the perfect time for the criminals of the underworld to strike. Even with knowing that Ben Ten Thousand was off world they still tried their luck at robbing people, breaking into shops, kidnapping as well as raping, and not forgetting illegal alien trafficking. Kenny inwardly snarled at the thought of anyone, alien or human going through it. It still happens, everyday but in this city, he will not stand for it. After helping Rilla with his studies and even quizzing him a bit, the duo decided for a late night patrol. Rilla didn't want to tag along as he had business with his Aunt Shar, plumber business and training, something the boys will have to deal with after highschool. They did tell Rook about this and promised to contact him if they were about to engage into combat.
Deciding to split up with Devlin, codenamed Amalgam, take the outer districts, closer to the border and the landing ships, while he chose the inner districts, closer to Tennyson Tower and the populated areas. It was going smoothly as one would hope as he had stopped two warthog aliens from taking a child. A kick and a blaster to the face later the little cream alien was free and went back home to their family. The same can't be said for them though.
Crouching on top of a poll with perfect balance, his scarf fluttering with the late night wind, Chrono Spanner had his radio connected to the Police scanners in case something big happened. Which is how he can be at the scene of the crime so fast. He listens to police chatter trying to find amusement in hearing the officers complain about criminal activity seeing as it's mostly his dad and the Plumbers dealing with it these days. The Police might have the firepower to combat and arrest aliens but they're still inexperienced but Kenny had to commit their bravery for still doing their job.
The same could be said for him, though he is the son of the universe's greatest hero. It was as if this life was made for him. Chrono Spanner gave him purpose, more than the son of a hero ever could. He proved that he didn't need the Omnitrix to fight. He can be a better hero than his dad and he'll show him.
A small explosion went off in the distance and Spanner quickly scanned the area where it went off. It was at the plaza and considering that Devlin was in the outer districts the plaza houses a larger crowd of civilians and buildings surrounding the area. Jumping off the pole and letting his jet boosters come to life he flew in that direction. Who would attack in an area with a large number of civilians? It could be anyone that was crazy
enough to do this. He first thought of Animo, the guy was crazy and would do anything to get attention, last time it was an army of Chimaera but it wasn't the mad doctor. He was currently locked up in a Plumber's cell in Mount Rushmore. There were other villains to consider. Darkstar, Zombozo, Overlord, The Forever King, Exoskull…the list goes on. Eon? Yeah, right as if he would attack while Ben Ten Thousand was off world. The guy would rather face him head on then do this. Or maybe he's over thinking this and there were actually some crazy enough toes an explosion went off at a plaza.
He landed on a nearby building and he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The person who he thinks created the explosion is wearing a hoodie covering his face, some pants and sandals. But his hands were glowing red hot and there seemed to be steam coming out of his body. He scanned the person quickly with his helmet and it chimed flashing a warning sign. His body was giving off radiation levels. Energy surrounded the person's hands as they shot forth towards their opponent who swiftly dodge out of the way and shot put a blue energy blast towards the radioactive man who didn't seem fazed at the attack.
The person who they were facing was a woman dressed in black and purple. Half of her face was covered by a mask with whisker marks on each side, her eyes glowed an eerie blue, her head was covered by her hoodie as two holographic cat ears were present on top giving the impression that she was a cat. Long sleeved hoodie with gloves, tight fitting pants and plain sneakers. But what caught his eyes was the sash around her body hanging horizontal as three familiar charms seemed to glow with power.
There was only one person who had those charms and she was currently off world. Who was this person?
Radioactive man pumped his fist with energy and shot forth at the cat themed vigilante who then held out her hands and a energy shield was made blocking the attack. Once the shield lowered the man shot forth a volley of radioactive energy at his assailant who swiftly dodged out of the way left and right as she… levitated off the ground!? Her body was surrounded by a blue aura as she then levitated towards the man who kept firing away at her. As the radioactive energy missed the cat vigilante, the citizens were nearly caught in the crossfire.
He couldn't keep watch any longer. Acting fast he shot forth towards the citizens and pushed a person out of the line of fire. He looked up and saw the battle raging on as the woman's hands were glowing blue and sparks of electricity bounced off her. She shot forward with a crackling sound of thunder as the man was hit straight in the chest into the concrete ground. It didn't last a second as the attack vanished but the man quickly burst up with power radiating off of him as his clothes were scorched away by the lightning and replaced with a black suit with red lines across his whole body. His face was revealed as it was revealed his skin was a deep red, like radiation was his skin. White eyes, no eyebrows and no hair in his head. If Kenny could recall this was the species of NRG in other words; Petrosapien B.
"Everyone get out of here now!" Spanner yelled to the citizens watching on with their phones out and recording the whole thing, "I said move!" He blasted one on their phones as the alien nodded his head and began walking away with everyone in tow.
"Should have expected a wannabe hero would show up," The man, the Petrosapien B spoke up, voice filled with malice and disappointment, "Was kinda hoping for Ten Thousand guess the rumours were true after all."
Rumours? He wasn't one for gossip but if it involved his dad he would gladly like to hear it.
"Guess he's busy dealing with someone in his league, Hothead," The woman spoke, her voice was modified, disgusting her true identity, same as him, "Besides I've been wanting to test myself against someone." She spoke as lightning danced around her hands, the charms flared to live across her chest. How did she get those, he wondered but this wasn't the time for that. This needs to be stopped.
"You're gonna regret that, Kitty."
The man, alien, whatever shot forth towards her faster than she could react but not him. Spanner shifted the device on his belt as he sped forward and tackled him. Instantly his suit began to overheat as he felt like his body was being cooked alive inside the suit. He prepared to fly skyward but the man brought his hand together and delivered a double axe hammer on him. He grunted as he landed in one knee, panting not from the attack but the heat coming off of him. The Petrosapien prepared to blast him with radiation but he was suddenly pushed back a
few feet by an invisible force followed by a stream of fire which exploded in of itself scorching the ground. The woman from before stood beside him and kept her azure eyes on her target. With a nod he got up and readied his blaster, he has a necrofriggian ice bomb that could cold the guy off but he didn't know if it'll work.
Extending her hand and muttering underneath her breath the woman's hands lit up with a blue circle as a stream of energy shot forth from it. The man evades it once he gets up and Spanner quickly closes in and shoots him a few times. It didn't work but he kept going on the offensive even if it meant he was frying on the inside a little. He evaded a blast of energy aimed at his side that tore through a building but then delivered a lick to the aliens side and a blast to the face. He jumped back as the woman clapped her hands together and shot forth flaming chains that wrapped around his arms. It didn't incinerate as it kept wrapping around his arms till it got to his shoulders then his whole body.
Spanner watched with awe as the baddie was then covered head to toe in flaming chains, which didn't burn the man, but failed to see how exhausted it made the mage. He then went in and kicked the guy over the head knocking him out. His red skin and white eyes then proceeded to fade away revealing a pale bald one now wrapped in the flaming chains, which quickly burned out and was replaced with charcoal chains, as the citizens watched on and started clapping hands.
He obviously smiled and waved at them like he was the one that took it down alone but when he looked at his partner and saw that she had her hands in her knees and panting heavily he quickly went over her.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked a bit curious now that the adrenal was wearing off, her azure eyes returned to a brown colour as the charms didn't glow anymore.
Receiving a shaky nod from the cat themed vigilante, "Yea, just not used to using high levels of magic yet, same with intermediate ones. I kinda struggle a lot of times," She admitted then looked away not meeting his eyes or black face plate for that matter.
Smiling behind his helmet, Spanner extended his hand to her, "Well, I didn't beat the guy on my own, thanks for the help."
She looked on for a few seconds before shaking his hand. He wanted to ask her name but a group of civilians quickly came and took pictures of the new hero/vigilante alongside the rising hero. He grabbed her hand and flew upwards, his booster going full throttle into the air before flying towards the nearest building away from prying eyes. He tried setting her down gently but his hand slipped and he thought she was gonna get hurt but the same blue aura appeared around her body as she levitated a few feet off the ground before landing. He landed in front of her and gave her a blank stare.
"Forgot you can do that," He said loudly as he made a mental note to ask Devlin if his mom knew anyone with the charms besides her.
"Yeah, guess you did," She shyly said then looked down while running her arm nervously.
Wait? What happened to all that bravado from earlier. Didn't she say she wanted tk test her power? Does that mean this was her first baddie? Not to mention she dodged and evaded like a pro but fought like someone who didn't know much about fighting to begin with. Her costume looks lame with the cat whiskers and ears on top of her hoodie. What next, a tail made of mana will appear? Whatever for now he needs to know who she is, or at least her name. Cat themed costume, uses magic and can move like there's no tomorrow. If he didn't know and better he might as well think she's a Citrakayah.
"Anyway, thanks for the help back there, I don't know if I would've been on time," He pointed to the unconscious man who was now in Police custody and was being taken to the Plumbers for questioning. He should look into that, "Chrono Spanner at your service," He placed his hands on his hips and held his head high as he introduced himself.
The name didn't sound that much lame when he first used it. It quickly stuck around and even now that he is using it as his vigilante persona. Paradox certainly didn't mind the name, but the guy probably knew this would have happened one way or the other.
The woman, now that he got a closer look at her, she was about his height so she was his age, "Nice to meet you," She began, her eyes a chestnut brown with ripples of magic swirling inside them.
"I'm Lady Luck."
